Light seeped through the curtain, shining directly onto Raik’s face because he was too fucked up to close the curtains properly the night before. It was a surprise he didn’t pull them straight off the hooks. A headache was already brewing and his mouth was so dry you could strike a match on his tongue. The ground needed to swallow him up. Not only was he battling the hangover from hell, he was also left reeling from what Kit had told him the previous night. Whatever Remzi had told him about Ayla was wrong, Kit was adamant about it. It left him feeling awful, thinking about how he accused her of sleeping with Hector. He blinked back the tears, trying to figure out how he was going to make things right again. Someone needed to take the steering wheel on his life because he was driving it into a fucking bottomeless lake. Last night was evidence of that. What the hell was he thinking sneaking off the cubicle like that? It was a good job Kit found and not someone else. His mom had already gone through that shit with Remzi, she didn’t need the same thing to happen to Raik. As soon as he was confronted by Kit though, he crumbled, telling him everything, although the alcohol soaring through his system helped to loosen his tongue. He confessed his feelings for Ayla to Kit, through blurred vision, admitting he didn't know what the hell to do about it. It was something he could just brush off, like a silly high school crush. It was developing into something more than that, her alleged affair with Hector proved that. His feelings were snowballing so quick he could barely keep up with them or slow them down. Raik couldn't turn to the person he usually did. How could he tell Remzi he was falling in love with Ayla? He knew exactly how that conversation would have gone anyway. Remzi would have told him to do whatever he wanted with Ayla. He didn’t give a shit, she was just some chick he was set to marry. He couldn’t speak to Remzi because Raik knew he’d end up swinging for his brother. The subject was just too sensitive. He left it a few days before reaching out to Ayla, partly because he was still recovering from that evening but mainly because he didn’t know what to say to her. An apology text wasn’t going to cut, however there was no fucking way he was going to head over to Hannya’s apartment. So, instead he invited her over to his apartment. He was a little surprised when she accepted the invitation. Having Ayla come over to his apartment filled him with mild anxiety. He wanted to make sure the place was spotless before she arrived with Turkish coffee boiling on the stove. The bell rang through the apartment and he buzzed Ayla up to his apartment. Before he opened the door he quickly looked in the mirror, running his hands through his beard to smooth it out. He opened the front door with a warm smile on face. “Hey… thanks for coming over.” He stepped aside, welcoming Ayla inside. “Coffee?” He led them both into the living room before disappearing for a minute to grab the coffee. He returned with a tray with two coffees and two glasses of cold water. Gently he placed them down on the coffee table in the middle of the room before sitting down on the armchair to the right of Ayla. There was a bouquet of flowers lying on the table too. “I owe you an apology. A huge apology and I don’t think I can find the words to express how sorry I am for accusing you of sleeping with Hector… I was wrong. I know you’re devoted to Remzi.” He then gestured towards the flowers, “Those are for you. I don’t expect you to forgive me because I’ve given you a bunch of flowers… it’s just a starting point.” He’d buy her flowers every day if that’s what was needed for her to forgive him. Raik would do anything to prove how sorry he was to Ayla because he didn’t want to live in a world where she hated him. It would cut deep. AYLA KIRAZ

━ kadınlar beğenince değil, güvenince âşık olur ━ IT WAS NEEDLESS TO SAY THAT AYLA WAS surprised when Raik reached out. Happily surprised, of course. She hoped he was going to apologize, but she wasn’t sure. Either way, it wasn’t as if she could say she was busy. Raik likely knew she was doing nothing but sitting at home now that she didn’t have a job. Ayla twiddled her thumbs most days, then cleaned the same thing for the third time that week just because it was easier than thinking about Raik and how upset she was.
She missed him. Perhaps that was why she said yes so quickly, and not just the Being Bored thing.
And sure, she hadn’t been outside in a while, so she dressed up. And did her hair. And double-checked her face in the mirror close to ten times before leaving. It was only because she wanted to make sure she looked good in case everyone could see the hermit look on her face! You know, if they could tell she’d been stuck inside for the last few days. It was not because she was seeing Raik.
After changing her outfit three times, Ayla finally decided she had to leave the house, otherwise she’d be late. She rushed to Raik’s, glancing around quickly, almost forgetting to say hi and greet the people she passed. She was just worried she’d see someone she knew━like someone from the club━and that it would be awkward. Her stomach was also doing flips at the idea of seeing Raik again; she didn’t know which she was more nervous about.
Wait, what if someone from the club saw her going to Raik’s? Oh, gosh.
Finally, Ayla reached his building and buzzed up, trying to do breathing exercises in the elevator and outside of his door. After she’d failed at lowering her heart rate, she finally knocked, and when Raik opened the door, everything melted away for a few seconds. All her worries, her troubles, and everything not so great about this situation. “Hi,” Ayla said softly, in Turkish, grinning up at Raik. When he moved aside and offered her coffee, however, the reality of their situation came rushing back.
Ayla cleared her throat and wiped the smile from her face, forcing her eyes away from his. She nodded curtly, then moved into the apartment, “Sure.” Ayla smiled politely over her shoulder at him, though this time, the expression was clearly put-on and didn’t last nearly half as long.
She followed Raik to the living room, clutching her purse strap just for something to hold onto (there was barely anything in it). Ayla sat on the couch and waited for him to come back, silently appreciating how clean his space was. Unlike Remzi, Raik clearly had an appreciation for his surroundings and, at the very least, picked up after himself.
Oh... there was even flowers! But they weren’t in a vase. She wondered why. Was Raik not sure what to do with them, or… were they for her? No, no, she didn’t want to be silly. Why would Raik buy her flowers?
Finally, he came back, and Ayla smiled up at him. “Thank you.” She hummed, reaching out for the cup closest to her.
Raik did apologize, which was great, but Ayla was stuck on one thing… sleeping with Hector? “What?” She asked, her brows furrowed, “You thought that I slept with Hector?” Ayla nearly squeaked, surprised at the notion of the idea. How could━what?! Perhaps that’s why he was so upset. That made sense. Ayla’s cheeks began to burn as she thought about it, already embarrassed, especially because she’d admitted to it without actually doing so━she didn’t know what Raik had meant!
Oh… they were for her. How sweet. Ayla couldn’t contain her grin, though she certainly tried. She leaned forward and picked them up, smelling the bouquet before shining her smile at Raik. “Thank you,” She whispered again, then set them down, along with her coffee. Ayla leaned over the side of the couch and reached out to touch Raik’s hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. It felt a little… nerve-racking to touch him, but he’d done something so nice for her, and Ayla couldn’t help it. He was clearly trying very hard, and it was more than Remzi had ever done when he upset her. Most of the time, he just tried to tell Ayla it didn’t happen, or that it wasn’t what he meant, which was absolutely infuriating.
“It’s alright, Raik. I understand. It was a miscommunication, I forgive you. Thank you for apologizing.” She pulled her hand away once it felt like she would be content holding it forever, and quickly switched her attention to her coffee, taking a long sip and humming contently. It tasted just like home. “I missed… talking to you.” Ayla admitted nervously, her eyes jumping to his, then back down to her cup. “Well, sometimes it’s hard to talk to Remzi, you know. And I don’t know many people. But… you were always very easy to talk to.” She explained in a rush, hoping he wouldn’t think she was strange for saying so.

The thought of Ayla and Hector sleeping together had been eating away at him since Remzi dropped the bomb, until Kit came along and insisted it never happened. It was crazy to think Raik was quick to trust Kit’s words over his own brother, but experience prevailed. When it came to believing Remzi it could become problematic. He’d always told little white lies (obviously in Raik’s mind these little white lies were fucking huge ones). When the buzzer rang through his apartment his heart literally jumped into his throat as his palms started to sweat a little. She was here, she was about to walk into his apartment. More importantly he was going to see her. Raik quickly rubbed his palms on his jeans furiously, swallowing harshly as if he was trying to force his heart back down into his chest. It all disappeared once he opened the front door and saw Ayla. Her perfect beautiful face, breaking into a warm smile that made him melt on the inside. They say a problem shared was a problem halved, but it didn’t feel like after admitting his feelings for Ayla to Kit. It had spiralled into a bigger problem for him as he was faced with the realisation this wasn’t just a blip. These feelings were strong and so goddamn real, but he was also grasping onto the fact they could never act on them, even if Remzi had basically given him a free pass. But then the smile quickly faded from her face, replaced by a stern look as she broke eye contact with him. His heart shot back into his throat as his shoulders dropped fractionally. For a brief second he forgot they weren’t on good terms. Nonetheless he was determined to make things right between him and Ayla, even if it meant bringing her a hundred cups of Turkish coffee and buying her hundred bouquets of flowers. He needed to make things right between them because his life was pretty miserable without her in it. A life where he had no choice but to watch the woman he was falling in love with marry his idiotic brother. It was easy to tell himself it was fine so long as she was happy, but that was questionable. Thinking back to the whole did seemed pretty out of character from the outset. Ayla sleeping with Hector? Almost laughable. “Yes! Well… Remzi told me you had but then I spoke to Kit and realised that… you’d never do something like that and I’m sorry I ever thought you would.” His eyes flickered between her and the cup of coffee he was holding carefully in his hands. The next question was burning inside his chest, dying to may it’s way out. “I guess I was confused because you hinted something had happened.” Ayla had fuelled his assumption she had slept with Hector, to an extent. Something had happened, that was clear but Remzi’s unclean mind jumped to them sleeping together. Not that it mattered anyway because his brother was clearly unfazed by whatever Ayla was up to. Same couldn’t be said about Raik. The stern look on her face fizzled away once he announced the flowers were for her. As her hand wrapped around his, giving it a quick squeeze he felt his stomach flip. As though he had just been throwing over the edge of a rollercoaster. It was rare for him to find a woman who made him feel like that. The last time was with Katie but Remzi had taken her away from him. Now he was doing the same with Ayla, but in a different way. A smile formed on his face when she told him all was forgiven. That dark cloud which had been hanging over him for weeks finally disappeared as he was hit with a surge of happiness. Her hand slipped away from his just as he was about to flip his hand over to interlock with hers. Raik laughed softly at her comment about Remzi, nodding in agreement. With most people the conversation with Remzi was surface level, nothing too deep, but Raik could bypass that layer with ease. Ayla wouldn’t have made it to that stage yet. “I’ve missed talking to you too… you’re one of the only people I could talk to for hours and not get bored or run out of things to say.” He could sit there all night talking with Ayla, sipping on Turkish coffee and sharing stories. “I can’t even do that with Remzi. After a few hours I’d ready to punch him.” He pulled his attention away from the coffee cup, looking over at Ayla with a grin on his face. It wasn’t just that though, it was everything about her which he’d missed. Her smile, her laugh, her positive bubbly personality. Above everything he’d missed seeing her beautiful face everyday, taking in every single feature until her eyes would meet his for a few seconds, locked on her gaze until one of them looked away. When he saw Ayla he felt a sense of comfort, like she was his home. AYLA KIRAZ

━ kadınlar beğenince değil, güvenince âşık olur ━ AYLA WAS COMPLETELY TAKEN ABACK BY Raik admitting he’d believed she’d slept with Hector. Of course it was Remzi’s fault━was that really what he’d gotten from their conversation? And why was he okay with that? She knew Remzi wasn’t happy to be in this situation with her, but…
Well, that didn’t matter━actually, Ayla was surprised by how little she cared about Remzi’s reaction. What mattered was that Raik knew the truth. Well… enough of it, anyway. “Yes, I’d never…” She shook her head, then laughed off the thought. She wished she could explain, but doing so would only leave Raik with more questions than answers, because she’d made a vow to Hector that she refused to break. He didn’t want anybody knowing, so she wouldn’t tell them. It was as simple as that.
Actually, Ayla was surprised Kit would be the one to defend her, but she was happy he had━it seemed that he was the only reason Raik finally came to his senses.
“Yes… nothing like that, though. I promise.” She didn’t know why she had to promise him, but it felt right. And she couldn’t go on, but she hoped that was enough to explain to Raik, and that he’d learned to trust her now.
He must have… or at least felt bad enough that he wouldn’t question her. He even brought her flowers, which was so sweet. In the back of Ayla’s mind, she wished she could hold onto his hand forever, but she knew she had to let go━especially if she was thinking that way.
And she was so happy to know that Raik had missed her, too. It made her stomach and chest swell with a warmth that made her feel loved. She hadn’t had that here yet… it was one of the biggest things she missed about home. And she seemed to only find it with Raik.
“Me too,” Ayla admitted bashfully, her cheeks pink as she snuck a glance at Raik, though her eyes quickly skittered away. She laughed, still staring at her coffee cup (because it was safer). “Yes… even after a few minutes, I’m angry enough to pull my hair out.” She grinned, finding his eyes again, though it was still a mistake. She could melt in them; get lost in them forever. “I’m happy you invited me over.” Ayla said quietly, because she needed Raik to know that this was the right thing to do. She was so happy to have him back.
And she’d spend a few too many hours there, but it would feel like only minutes. Time passed differently when she was around Raik, and she hoped he felt the same. They spent the rest of her visit laughing and sharing stories, and Ayla felt at peace there, with him━better than she had in the weeks she’d spent without Raik in her life. She almost didn’t want to go home.
