Hector wasn’t the type of person to go out of his way to help someone, yet he was doing it for Ayla. Part of it was driven by a selfish motive in that he needed to eliminate the guilt he felt by firing her. He hated the feeling, it was something he wasn’t used to, bothering him constantly throughout the day. He promised he’d help her find a job and even provide her with a glowing reference. It was tempting to compel someone into hiring her, but it would have been a hassle to find someone in town who wasn’t a damn supernatural. Lucky for Ayla there was a casino in town being revamped and probably looking for staff. Besides, finding Ayla a job gave Hector something to do. He was filling his days with endless tasks in an attempt to keep him from killing people. It felt like he was disposing of a body every other day and he couldn’t explain why he was tearing these people apart. At first it was the woman he was bringing back from the bar late at night, but now he found himself turning on anyone. Humans weren’t the only ones either, he was more than willing to turn on his own kind. Something inside of him was becoming more and more unhinged by the day, but Hector was certain it would pass. In the meantime, he focused his time elsewhere. He stood outside the casino for a second, his eyes fixated on the sign that hung above the door, with a look of confusion on his face. ‘Lierre.’ What an awful name. He peered through the doors to see Pierre inside, bumbling around and muttering to himself in French. There was a slight smile on Hector’s face as he watched Pierre, completely wrapped up in his own world. Hector pushed the door open, stepping inside. “Morning.” The inside was a working progress considering the last owner ran the place into the ground before abandoning the place. Hector was tempted to snap the place up for himself, but Pierre beat him to the finish lane. “They run out of P’s at the shop?” He gestured to the front door, speaking of the sign that hung at the front of the building. “I know of someone who’s looking for a job.” He made his way over to one of the tables, dusting off one of the chairs before sitting down, “A woman. Turkish. Shapeshifter. Very professional, attentive and turns up on time… few disclaimers though… She's very clumsy and I’m fairly certain she’s allergic to dust.” And she may sneeze and accidentally turn into your ex-girlfriend, but Pierre had no photos of any past lovers laying around, so he was safe. ━ moral compromise has its privileges ━ OF COURSE HE HAD TO TAKE ON SUCH A large business venture by himself! Of course! He wouldn’t be Pierre without something like this━AKA a ton of headache and too much work. He’d managed his other businesses without help, though, so he could do this one, too. He’d survived before! He would be fine!
Pierre puttered around the inside of the casino while it was still closed, taking note of each thing he wanted to fix, or change, or get a quote on. He didn’t know who had told him it was best to write all of his grand ideas down when he got into a mood like this, but, whoever they were, they were saving his ass at the moment. He could double- and triple-check each note he’d made on any of the last few days, and see if he actually wanted to make whatever change he’d written down. His mind flip-flopped on a day-to-day basis.
Ah, and he’d be able to make his own chimeras, soon, as well! Sure, he had to return the girl to Mal and restore her memories, but that was a small price to pay for what he’d received in return. And he was very happy about it.
The casino would be a great place to find new experiments, too━Pierre just had to ensure it was running properly. It had still been open while it was up for sale, though the inner workings were a mess, and Pierre had gutted almost half of the staff after observing them for a month. He thought they would work more efficiently now, and while the woman (with the strange name) he’d promoted had quite the attitude, she was almost like a drill sergeant, and kept the rest of the staff in line. He would have to hire and train quite quickly, though, and he hoped she could handle it.
Pierre’s grumblings were interrupted by the door shifting open, and an old friend appearing from behind it. He smiled, happy to see Hector again━happy he got to see Hector so often now! Though, they would be in slight competition as far as Mystic Falls’ nightlife was concerned. “Quoi?” He asked, then looked out the window to where Hector gestured. Suddenly, he remembered that strange name and sighed, shrugging, though his brow didn’t unfurrow. “Oh. I can’t remember why dzis name came to me, but it did, and now dzat is zee name. Sounds better dzan just ‘Pierre’s’, non?” He asked, and smiled softly. It was different. He supposed it should’ve reminded him of something, but he wasn’t sure what that could be.
“Oh, yes?” Pierre asked, intrigued as Hector mentioned a potential new employee. He shifted to lean against the table Hector had sat himself at, grinning across it at his friend. Any recommendation from Hector would be a great one, and he knew he could trust his friend━Hector would not lie about his experience like the rest of these applicants’ résumés.
“Hmm,” He nodded slowly as he considered it. Well, if she wasn’t great, then at least Hector was honest. “‘Ow is ‘er math?” He asked, “People skills? English? ‘Ow clumsy━can she work at zee bar?” Or would he spend a fortune replacing anything she touched? Well, if she was clumsy enough for it to be mentioned, Pierre figured that was quite bad. Nonetheless, though, she was already hired. For Hector, and because Pierre was desperate. Lucky would surely straighten her out━or send her home crying. Whichever it was, he’d give her a shot.

When the for sale sign was thrown up on the casino Hector toyed with the idea of buying the place but realised his hands were full with the bar and club. Buying another business added stress he didn’t need right now, but then the for sale sign was taken down and the new owner was announced in the local paper. Hector couldn't help but chuckle to himself when he saw Pierre’s name. Back to his old tricks, giving Hector a bit of healthy competition because so far the town had provided none. The Grill didn’t stay open too late and Campbell’s Bar aimed at attracting a different type of clientele. Needless to say Hector would probably be hauling himself across the road to the casino since gambling was one of his favourite hobbies. He wasn’t going to tell Pierre the name of his casino was somewhat terrible. Maybe it would grow into the name Lierre becoming a well known business in Mystic Falls. But it seemed like Pierre hadn’t sat down and gone through a list of potential names. Instead he went with the first one that popped into his mind. “Oui… Je suppose.” He responded with a nod. Neither of them sounded very catchy, but he wasn’t here to give business advice to a man who knew how to run his own business. No, he was there to offer Ayla and convince Pierre to hire her. Ayla was overrun with good qualities that Hector could lay on the table, but her ability to smash everything she touched could have been considered damning. “Basic maths skills.” According to her resume, he’d never actually put her into a situation where she needed to prove that. “Great people skills. Very likeable and friendly. Her English is good enough to get by and she’s getting better… but she’s very clumsy. I wouldn't put her behind a bar.” Perhaps his brutal honesty wasn’t going to get her the job, but he couldn’t have Ayla coming into the place and smashing countless bottles of wine. PIERRE BAUDELAIRE

━ moral compromise has its privileges ━ AH, OF COURSE HECTOR COULD NOT COME BY just to check up on an old friend and see how the new business was treating him. No, Hector had to pawn off some woman with “basic math skills” on him━except Hector said “maths,” never failing to be as British as possible. But ah, Pierre had no qualms with it━one always lent a hand to the other when they were in need, and this was no different. Pierre would hire this woman, and he would hope that she would be at least some benefit to his business.
He could use her as a greeter of sorts, or someone to blend into the crowd and ensure the patrons weren’t stealing. And she could graduate to the dealer’s table, of course━as long as she didn’t crack under Lucky’s scrutiny. The thought almost had him laughing aloud.
“Ah, right.” Pierre sucked in a breath, then released it as a wry smile appeared on his lips, his head bobbing with a nod. “Oui, I see,” He hummed, “Well, tell zee girl dzat she is een luck,” He pushed away from the edge of the surface lightly and stood up straight. “I don’t need bar staff right now; I’ll ‘ave ‘er doing somezing else.” He leaned over, playfully patting Hector on the arm. “I bet she is incredibly ugly, too, eh?” Pierre joked, lifting a brow at his friend━she’d likely be the most beautiful woman on the planet when she walked in. He wanted to say “except for…” but couldn’t think of who would be his only exception.
“Send ‘er for training tomorrow evening; five p.m.” Pierre nodded firmly━it was early enough that she could learn opening procedures while also getting a taste of what it was like when customers actually filled the place. He’d give her a shot, and he’d likely keep her on for a lot longer than he should’ve if she turned out to be useless, because this was a favour for his friend.
