━ watch me make them bow ━ SHE STAYED. FOR VIKTOR, THE PACK, AND BECAUSE SHE LOVED him so Goddamn much. It was actually kind of fucking sickening. But now that she was for sure part of the pack━he’d growled it at her enough times━Harmony would do her best to help them. That meant recruiting new members to build back their numbers, though she was sure Viktor would hiss and spit over it.
He’d have to deal.
If Viktor wanted any sort of leg up in Mystic Falls and against the hunters that littered this place, then he’d have to understand that it was necessary to trust more people than just blood (and Harmony).
Hazel was next, as she was definitely something, but Abi would be first. After the car accident, she was always absent every full moon. Hazel never seemed to notice, but the day was already significant for Harmony. She noticed, and she thought it was pretty fucking suspicious.
Though she was already convinced, she knew she had to prove her theory. If Abi was actually a werewolf, though, she’d be perfect for the pack━young and impressionable, soft putty ready to be moulded by a great alpha.
Ugh. Did admitting her feelings really mean she had to keep complimenting Viktor, even internally? Fucking gross.
Harmony set up her hangout with Abi the day before, and now strode to the girl’s house, wearing sunglasses and a dress to welcome new weather on that particular bright, warm Saturday. She wrapped her knuckles against the door, and began twisting the silver ring around her finger as she waited.
Once the door opened, she grinned at Abi and slid her sunglasses up, letting them rest on her head. “Hey, girl,” She smiled and stepped in, blue eyes quickly scanning the inside of the house before she turned to the potential werewolf. “What’s up? Love this shirt, by the way, so cute.” Harmony hummed, reaching out to play with the sleeve, though it was just an excuse to press her ring against the girl’s bare arm. She waited for it to sizzle, staring at the spot intently.

❝ I'm Like A Shooting Star... I've Come So Far❞
Slowly was life getting better since that fateful night on the road coming home from the carnival. That night life had changed for her, and she thought not for the better. At first, she seriously struggled to come to terms with what she had become. The pain of the night in question certainly made it harder. But there was no going back on it now. She was stuck like this, and thought it was best to make the most of it.
So far, her best friend hadn’t noticed the change, or twigged that she was never available on the full moon. For that she was grateful. She had no idea how she was going to explain that away. Their circle of friends growing to include Harmony. Older than them but she was nice enough and they got along like a house on fire. Hazel was busy today, so it was just her and Harmony hanging out today. Her dad out on work, and Harmony was meeting her here.
Fussing around the house making sure it was presentable before her friend arrived. Just putting a load of washing on she heard the door and she called, ” Coming!” Switching it on she ran toward the door pushing her hair back from her face she opened the door allowing the sunlight to stream in. Dressed in light jeans and a simple t shirt, ” Hey!” she greeted cheerfully, ” Come on in. Just need to grab my shoes and I’ll be ready to head out.” Abi told her stepping away from the door to let her in, ” Sorry, I was doing the laundry. My turn…”
When she complimented her shirt, she glanced down at herself before shrugging, ” Thanks. I’ve had this for ages. I couldn’t even tell you- ow!” She started to explain racking her brains as to where she bought it when her skin burned and started to sizzle, and she jerked her arm away quickly. Small red welt burned on her arm, and she glanced at Harmony’s hand sharply… silver ring. Did she know? How the hell could she know? She recovered quickly ignoring the sharp pain which was still stinging like a bitch, and she reached for her shoes, ” Sorry I think you might have caught me with your nails or something….” She laughed it off, slipping on the cute black pumps. Her expression was guarded, she knew it wasn’t nails and something told her that Harmony certainly didn’t believe that either.
She was in major bloody trouble.

━ watch me make them bow ━ JUST AS EXPECTED, HARMONY WATCHED THE RING SIZZLE AGAINST Abi’s arm. She didn’t intend on hurting the girl, just testing her theory, but nothing worth getting done happened without pain.
There wasn’t really anything special about the shirt, either, but Abi would realize that in a few seconds. Harmony pulled away as Abi ripped her arm back, turning her palm over like she was looking for what could’ve done it. “Oh, sorry… what happened?” She glanced up again as Abi came up with some lame excuse.
With the smoothness of a pickpocket, Harmony slipped the ring off her finger and into the opposite palm. Using the same hand from the beginning, now ringless, she grabbed Abi’s arm and pulled her closer once her shoes were on. Harmony turned her arm a bit, finding that the mark had already healed. “Wow,” She hummed blankly, “Didn’t think my nails could heal you instantly, too.” Harmony lifted a brow and smirked, “I must have some magical shit under my fingernails━I could bottle it and sell it.” She scoffed, then added matter-of-factly, “Or you’re just a werewolf.”
Harmony dropped Abi’s arm and tucked her ring into her own pocket, allowing her hand to rest on her hip. “It happened that night, right? With the car accident.” Her voice had a little more sympathy to it now. There were three types, Viktor told her: born, bitten, and triggered. Abi was, obviously, the last. Maybe it ran in the family━either way, she’d need some training, and Harmony figured Viktor would be more than happy to ensure a new recruit was up to his standards.

❝ I'm Like A Shooting Star... I've Come So Far❞
She was in major trouble here. Harmony was a friend and of course didn’t know what she was. Hazel knew, but that was because she was her best friend, and had been for years. She had no secrets from her. Harmony on the other hand was nice but new. Trust was still building.
As something had seared at her skin, she jerked her arm back quickly. She watched her skin turn red, as though she had been burned. Then within moments was healing before her eyes, ” Its ok. No harm, no foul no bruise!” Abi shrugged it off quickly bending down to slip on her shoes. Claiming that Harmony must have caught her with her nails or something.
Once she was standing straight again Harmony reached for her again and this time there was no burn. So she didn’t flinch back away from her. She knew her excuse for the screech of pain was supremely lame… and she didn’t do well under pressure. Abi initially laughed with her, ” Now that would be great…” Abi joked.
Then the words came that she had been dread. Werewolf rattled around in her head and she was pretty much gazing at her stupidly, ” What…How…?” Abi asked stupidly. She then pulled herself together, ” How do you know about werewolves?” Abi asked back.
With her question, Abi looked at her for a minute wondering if she should say anything. Wolf was out of the bag now… no point in trying to hide it, ” Yeah. The night of the car accident. Curse runs in my family. I killed that guy… so I get to suffer for the rest of my life.” Abi told her quietly. A minute later she smiled a little bit, ” Seems kind of fitting given that I killed someone.”

━ watch me make them bow ━ IT HAD BEEN MORE THAN A YEAR SINCE HARMONY MET HAZEL━and Abi soon after━and it was time she started cashing in on her investment. Hazel was something, Harmony knew that much, but Abi was undeniably a werewolf. And she could use that to her advantage. Especially before the girls went to college━then they’d have a wide breadth of “cool older girlfriends” to replace Harmony.
It didn’t take her long to come right out and say it; there was no use in dancing around it, and, hopefully, if she caught Abi off guard, she’d be a little less likely to think too much about it. And just for good measure, Harmony flicked on the “siren switch,” exuding the energy that drew people to her, while she kept thinking: You trust me, you trust me, you trust me. Abi likely did anyway, but having this extra boost wouldn’t hurt.
“My… boyfriend is a werewolf. An alpha, actually.” She didn’t know what to call Viktor, and the word she’d chosen made her stomach clench and twist uncomfortably, but it was all part of the show. They liked her because she was older, more wordly, but still one of the girls━having a “boyfriend” was just another thing she had that they wanted.
And, at the same time, boyfriend just wasn’t enough. It was juvenile and… soft━too soft for what they had. Boyfriends didn’t matter. They came and went, and they were nothing special. But Viktor? He was the opposite of all of that, and she wanted to keep him forever.
Fuck. She was going fucking crazy. Back to the plan.
She was sure she’d talked to them about Viktor before, as well, but he used to just be the “guy she hooked up with,” AKA, someone she was stringing along━another “cool girl” thing in the eyes of younger girls. God, it was so easy to impress them. The amount of boy advice she’d dished out to Hazel and Abi in the last year or more was immeasurable. Seriously, she should start charging for this shit.
“You didn’t kill anyone.” Harmony shook her head decidedly and gave Abi a sharp look that showed she meant it. “It was an accident. It sucks that this is what happens because of it, but… it’s not all bad.” Slowly, a warm smile crept onto her lips, “It runs in your family, so… is your dad one, too?” She asked, “Does he help you with it at all? I know it can be really tough when you’re first starting out.” Harmony gave her a solemn look━as if she really knew what it was like beyond stories she’d heard from Viktor.

❝ I'm Like A Shooting Star... I've Come So Far❞
Or you’re just a werewolf The word werewolf seemed to echo in Abi’s mind. How could she possibly know? Her dad had explicitly said to keep it a secret… and the only person she had told had been Hazel. She had seen her that night, seen her eyes change, her scream of agony as the ‘curse’ activated within. She was staring at her stupidly. The questions ‘what? and ‘how?’ falling from her lips stupidly before she could gather her thoughts. She had got herself together and then managed to ask with some brain power: asking how she knew about werewolves? She was at some point on alert… but eventually she found herself calming down. Harmony was her friend, wasn’t she? If she was going to hurt her, she would have done so by now right?
She nodded when she said that her boyfriend was one, an alpha. She smiled a little, ” Whats that like?” She asked curiously. Even before becoming a wolf, and her dad had told her about the curse, she made a point of learning about them. What she could anyway without arousing suspicion. Of course, she hadn’t heard of any alpha’s around here. Her dad wasn’t part of a pack, so neither was she. She didn’t feel as though she needed a pack either. Her family, her dad, was enough.
She moved slightly sinking onto the arm of a couch as she explained. That it happened the night of the accident as Harmony had suspected. She mentioned that it was a fitting punishment for killing someone. When Harmony was quite stern with her about not killing anyone. Her dad had said the same, ” I know it was ruled as an accident. I really do. But it was still me at the wheel…” Abi told her. A life had been taken, accident or not. At the minute it was hard to not look like it as a punishment. The pain was just… no word Abi could think of right now could describe those nights. Sometimes she remembered the night, others she didn’t. Keeping control was always the hardest part… But she was getting better at it.
She wanted to agree with her that it wasn’t all bad. The nights she was able to remember, she was chained down. So far, the chains held… good since the nights when the wolf did take over, she could easily unintentionally kill someone. That she never wanted on her head.
When he asked about her father, she nodded, ” Yeah, he has been one for a long time. Werewolf guru, though he is no alpha.” Abi admitted with a small chuckle, ” Sometimes I remember and so far the chains hold. If I got out… I dread to think what I could do. Sometimes it just takes over and I’m not me anymore…” Abi told her, trusting her friend.

━ watch me make them bow ━ “NICE,” HARMONY FORCED A SMILE, SHRUGGING AT ABI. “Y’know, he thinks he’s in charge all of the time, which is annoying, but… it’s nice being part of a pack. He’s a good leader.” She didn’t have to lie about any of it. It was nice to know that Viktor’s family had her back, and that they could all rely on each other. And he’d done so many good things, taking care of them every step of the way, and now he was fixing up a house to make sure they all had a home. Honestly, Harmony didn’t deserve him, and she didn’t know how she’d gotten so lucky, but she wasn’t gonna say any of that shit out loud. What she was saying was already bad enough.
In any case, she had to make sure Abi knew it was a good thing.
Abi was still going on about the accident, and Harmony wanted to fuckin’ shake her, but she held back. “I’m not talking about what it was ruled as,” She said, her voice still stern, lips in a hard line. “I’m talking about what it is. And it was an accident.” Nobody would’ve believe that Abi meant to hit that guy, and nobody could say that she wasn’t cut up about it. Jesus, even Harmony felt bad on occasion.
Anyway, Harmony asked about Abi’s dad next, ‘cause it would’ve been a lot harder to convince him to join, and she wanted to see how involved he was in this. “So, has he, like, taught you about having an anchor and stuff?” She asked, shifting her weight to one side and propping a hand on her hip. “Having an alpha helps, though. Like, I’ve seen the difference, and everything’s better for werewolves when they’re in a pack. Plus, you have someone to look up to━y’know, aside from your dad.” Harmony smiled warmly, “If you want, you could come over sometime and meet him. His English isn’t great, but he’s still a really good leader. Maybe he could give you some pointers,” She shrugged like it was no big deal, presenting the whole thing coolly, because pressuring Abi would lead nowhere.

❝ I'm Like A Shooting Star... I've Come So Far❞
Abi asked what it was like to be in a pack, to have an alpha. Her dad had told her about them of course. Though neither of them had ever been part of one. For all these years her dad had been on his own, she wasn’t even sure if he would want to be part of a pack now. She honestly didn’t know his thoughts on the topic. To be told that it was nice had her smiling. Then she frowned only a little bit, ” You’re not a wolf, are you? How come you’re in the pack?” She asked just slightly confused. Or she wasn’t anything… she just had fell for a pack alpha? ” Or just special girlfriend privileges?” She smiled a bit at that.
She looked just a little bit surprised at the look on her face and her tone when she told her sternly that it had been an accident. Deep down, she knew that. She hadn’t gone out that night looking to run someone down with her car, had been doing the speed limit. There was just nothing to be done as he literally appeared in the middle of the road. It had all just happened so fast that what happened hadn’t even really registered until they got out of the car.
She sat on the arm of the couch listening to what she asked, and she nodded in reference to the anchor, ” Sometimes I manage to hold onto it, other times I don’t. Those nights I’m glad for the chains. I don’t remember anything, so I can only imagine what kind of animal I was.” Abi shuddered. The other nights when she managed to keep a hold on her humanity, anchoring herself to memories, it wasn’t terrible. Her senses were incredible, but she still didn’t trust herself to be free until she had absolute control of the animal under her skin. What would it feel like to run free under the moonlight in her wolf form? She had wondered, and if she would ever find out.
She stood then, nothing to worry about. Harmony wasn’t going to run down the path screaming werewolf, not when she had a pack to think of. Her secret she knew was safe with her, Abi trusted her. When she offered her to come by she thought of her dad for a moment. She wans’t sure of his thoughts but having a pack, others like her… it could only be a good thing, right? ” Yeah. I’d like that.” She admitted. This was her life now, and she would make the most out of it.

━ watch me make them bow ━ HAVING SOMEONE (OTHER THAN A PARENT) HELP you with control sometimes just worked better. And Viktor had those special Alpha powers that could just shut them right up.
Finally, Abi agreed to meet Viktor, and Harmony tried not to look too pleased. “Great. We’re renovating the place we just moved into, so it’s a bit of a mess right now━” AKA it looked fucking awful and she was not bringing anyone there. “━but we can plan something soon.” Harmony shifted, standing a little straighter and inching towards the door. “We still hanging out?” So she could make sure she and Abi were still cool after she “accidentally” burned Abi with her ring. The girl didn’t seem to pick up on it, though, which made Harmony’s life easier.
