Lumos

It’s the year 2021 and a lot has changed since the days of Harry Potter. Technology has arrived in the magical world and with it jobs that had never been heard of before are booming. The Weasley family has pulled off a Cinderella rags to riches story and developed magical vehicles for those who don’t want to, or can’t, apparate, don’t like Floo Powder or the environmental waste of portkeys.  Hogwarts is also now offering a three year University for a mix of classroom and field work in highly specialized fields such as Aurors, Hitwizards, St. Mungo’s Healers, and Hogwarts nurses and doctors to prepare them for the high stress and difficult careers they’ve chosen.

With the good comes the bad, or so it goes. On September 1st multiple cities around the world where muggle and magical people have lived in harmony were targeted in brutal murders that were both live streamed and played over TV stations simultaneously, murders that were blatantly magical. The group, who call themselves The Enlightened, have in one day erased a lifetime of work at hiding magic and made muggles lapse into fear. Chaos is spreading as everyone asks the questions. Who are among the Enlightened? Is it the guy in the office next to you? Your best friend? Is it you? Or are you seeking to catch the wrongdoers? Or are you simply trying to stay alive and safe?

A wise old man once said happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if only one remembers to turn on the light.  With that I only say: Lumos.
