Living alone was bizarre. Every morning he would wake up and the apartment would be silent, unless there was a random woman lying next to him in bed. Sometimes it would take him a while to remember their name. But the majority of the time it was just him and his thoughts. He wouldn’t wake up to the sound of Remzi banging around in the kitchen, doing nothing most of the time, or slamming a door closed because he was incapable of closing doors quietly. Every single time he would blame it on his vampire strength even though he’d been doing it since he was a teenager. The brother’s relationship hadn’t completely healed, but it was getting better and in some weird way Raik missed living with Remzi, even though he was itching to get his own place. The whole Raik dying situation had now been put in a box and locked away, never to be spoken about again. It was easier that way. Remzi had done his apologising and there was no more to be said on the matter. It wasn’t healthy going over old ground especially for Raik. He was already struggling enough with what happened without having to get into some deep long conversation with Remzi about it. On top of that he was trying to fight off his increasing feelings for Ayla. It was another thing that needed to be locked in a box and forgotten about. Their wedding was looming and Raik needed to divert his attention elsewhere, which was difficult when his mom was on the phone to him every other day talking about the wedding. He let out a long ass sigh when his mom’s name flashed up on his phone that morning, but she wasn’t calling to speak to Raik, she wanted to speak to Remzi, who apparently wasn’t picking up his phone. He didn’t have the balls to tell her Remzi had probably been out partying all night and would be dead to the world in his bed. He did what he always did. Tell a little white lie to his mom that Remzi could be out getting groceries, but he would go and check up on Remzi to make sure he wasn’t dead in a ditch because that's the only reasonable explanation, according to his mom as to why Remzi wasn’t answering her calls. Raik didn’t rush to get ready and headed over to Hannya’s apartment. He still couldn’t comprehend their living situation, but his mom had been rambling on about finding an apartment for the loved up couple. He dug out the key he still had for the apartment and let himself inside. It was quiet inside, which was a relief as Raik didn’t have the patience to deal with her today. He tapped on the bedroom door, pushing it open slightly to reveal Remzi on the other side. “Eşşoğlueşşek… mom’s been calling me for you… put some clothes on.” He shied away from Remzi, returning to the kitchen. ━ like sisyphus pushing that rock uphill ━ DESPITE HAVING LIVED AT HANNYA’S FOR A FEW months, sometimes Remzi still woke up and didn’t know where the fuck he was. Usually it was after a long night of drinking (and other things), and though he couldn’t get hangovers anymore, sometimes he peeled his eyes open and stared at the upper corner of her room for a little too long.
He’d gone harder last night than usual, which was saying something about Remzi’s habits. Actually, he wasn’t totally sure how he’d ended up back in Hannya’s bed, and why she hadn’t kicked him onto the floor during the night. Did demons sleep? Nah, he didn’t think he’d ever seen ‘er passed out. That was the only logical explanation━she didn’t need to be in bed, so she didn’t deal with his shit. Made sense. Maybe that was why Leah couldn’t fuckin’ stand him half the time.
Or why she felt like she had to keep going to everyone━anyone━else to get laid. For once, Remzi wasn’t the one who’d fucked up. He made a promise and stuck to it (which was a big thing for him), and then Leah decided it wasn’t worth it anymore. Maybe that he wasn’t. He thought they were becoming something else, but he guessed not.
So whatever. Fuck it. He would have way more fun without Leah and her bullshit. And she’d come back in a couple weeks begging for him to slip it in her again, and Remzi would do it, obviously, ‘cause she was a good lay.
Laying like a starfish in the middle of the bed, Remzi barely registered the tap before the door opened. Instead of Hannya’s smooth, sweet twang, though, it was his brother’s voice. Remzi lifted his head just barely, staring at Raik with one eye open. “Kafayı üşüttü,” He grumbled, turning over onto his stomach and eventually (very slowly) dragging himself out of bed.
Remzi partially followed directions, slipping on only a pair of boxers. He tied his hair back and trudged out of the bedroom, wiping at his eyes. “Fuck you wake me up for? Just to tell me mom’s been callin’ like I don’t know?” He grumbled, rounding the island to find the fridge, where he pulled out a blood bag from the bottom drawer. Hannya kept it stocked for him. “All she wants to talk about is the wedding, man, like I give a shit. Keeps askin’ me about that chick━again, like I give a shit.” Remzi tossed the blood bag into the microwave for a few seconds before it was in his hand again. He pierced the plastic with his teeth, trying to get his morning shots done so he’d be one hundred percent again (and could keep partying).
He loved his mom, but sometimes she loved him back just a little too much, and, honestly, he would’ve returned her call if he knew where the fuck his phone was.

He didn’t want to insult Ayla’s intelligence by asking her if she knew that Remzi was sleeping with other girls, especially when she was so faithful to him. Although that was up for debate considering they almost kissed at Halloween. His lips were practically brushing hers and she didn’t pull back. The siren forced them apart instead. The pair hadn’t drifted that close since, nor did they speak about it. It was put in that box, along with Raik’s death. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise that Remzi was turned into a vampire because his partying would have driven him into an early grave by now. One line too far and it could have been over. Now he could party forever, without having to worry about going too far. It was like paradise for Remzi. Seeing Remzi lying naked on the bed wasn’t exactly the sight Raik wanted to see. The same thing he had to look at most mornings when they travelled through America. The pair of them would pass out after a long night of drinking, but at least Raik managed to shimmy himself into a pair of boxers. Remzi often stripped down to his birthday suit and passed out. He was surprised to see there wasn’t a woman lying in the bed next to Remzi though. If Raik hadn’t answered his phone that morning there would have been a cop car driving around Mystic Falls looking for Remzi because their mom would have reported them both as missing. At times her love could be bordering on smothering. “Yeah ‘cause she’s been blowing up my phone too.” He pulled his gaze away from Remzi as he grabbed a blood bag. No matter how many times he watched Remzi do that it still didn’t seem normal. It made Raik’s stomach churn a little, but his attention was ripped back to Remzi when he announced he didn’t give a shit about the wedding, referring to Ayla as that chick. That chick.Raik tried to keep himself from emptying the contents of his stomach on the floor as Remzi pierced the bag, but the reason his stomach was doing flips was because of the anger that was pumping through his body. He took a deep breath in, trying to control himself. “You should give a shit. That chick, Ayla, is your future wife and…” It was impossible to stay level headed, “Siktir. You're lucky to have her in your life and most men would kill to have a woman like her. You need to start treating her with the respect she deserves because she’s…” Special. He forced himself to hold back before he could unload his feelings onto Remzi, about his future wife, “She’s good for you.” There was a chance she could be good for Remzi, but Raik knew he’d never let that happen. He wasn’t going to devote his life to one single woman, not when there were lots out there. REMZI DURMAZ

━ like sisyphus pushing that rock uphill ━ ‘COURSE ANNE WAS BLOWIN’ UP THEIR phone, she wouldn’t be their mom if she wasn’t. Honestly, Remzi would’ve worried about her if she wasn’t in constant contact, especially now that Ayla was here. The minute their mom went silent for two hours was when Remzi would start to panic. He loved his mama more than anyone, but Jesus Christ. Couldn’t he get a minute alone? Remzi didn’t consider that it might be more difficult for her to be away from both her babies (especially after one just came home from the military, and this “trip” was only supposed to be temporary)━as usual, Remzi didn’t consider much outside of himself.
And how Goddamn shitty he felt. Was that the lack of blood or lack of Leah? He didn’t wanna think about how his cravings were only partially satisfied as he leaned onto the island and sucked the blood bag like a warm juice box.
He saw the change in Raik, though. The stiffness, how there was a different air about him. If only Remzi had become a vampire sooner, he might’ve noticed this shit from the dudes around him and stayed alive longer. Wait, no, that didn’t make sense…
Whatever.
All of a sudden, Raik started going off on him, and Remzi stared with raised brows, finding it almost amusing. The lecture didn’t permeate, he just couldn’t figure out why Raik was so damn invested “She’s what?” He asked, smirking, and squeezed the blood bag to empty more of its contents into his mouth while watching his brother. Good for him? Remzi laughed, pushing off the counter to open the fridge again.
“How am I gonna respect some bitch who cheats on me back, patronuyla yatıyor? It ain’t like she’s the perfect housewife, either…” His eyes moved to Raik slowly, speaking as though he was distracted, “You even know how many plates and shit she’s broken? I had to buy her a vakum ‘cause it was too much to sweep.” Chuckling, he turned back to the fridge, squeezing out the last of the blood bag as he dug around for another. Really, Hannya gave him the money for it, but his point still stood.
Remzi closed the fridge and popped the next blood bag in the microwave, then resumed his spot by the island once it was on and spinning. “Why don’t you bang her if you think she’s so great? Or marry her, whatever,” He scoffed as though the words were interchangeable, then blew air into the bag and tipped his head back, trying to squeeze out the last remnants of the blood like a freeze pop.

He didn’t want to insult Ayla’s intelligence by asking her if she knew that Remzi was sleeping with other girls, especially Their parents only knew a fraction of the life the brother’s had been living since they left home. Their mom thought the boys were having a great time in Mystic Falls together and living in harmony. Remzi was excited for the wedding and Raik was proud of his brother. If only she knew the mess they had created between the pair of them. If she did it would have probably been Raik’s fault, considering he was the oldest. He was there to look after Remzi and keep him out of trouble, but he’d run out of steam with Remzi. He’d died, killed lots of people and was now shacking up with a demon. As always, Remzi was taking nothing serious. This was all one big funny joke to him and it irritating the fuck out Raik. He couldn’t blow his top though because he’d come across as overly protective of Ayla. Remzi would be asking too many questions and making digs at Raik. Raik frowned, shaking his head as he tried to understand what Remzi was trying to say. “Wait… what do you mean she slept with her boss? Ayla wouldn’t do something like that… she’s waiting for you.” She was going to be disappointed when it came to their wedding night too, considering Remzi was probably going to treat her like a piece of meat. He didn’t even know how to make love to a woman, but it was an image Raik tried to push out of his mind. “Yeah she’s a little sakar, so what?” Raik found it quite endearing though. So what if she broke a few plates? That’s who she was. Did he really have to drink those things in front of Raik? He tried to hide the look of disgust on his face as Remzi ripped open another bag. “Because… I don’t… I don’t think of her in that way.” Except it was the only way he ever thought about her. He didn’t want to throw her into bed like Remzi was suggesting though, it was more than that. Damn, he wanted to be the one to marry her, but he was fantasising about something that would never happen. The only thing left to do was to try and make sure Remzi was a semi-decent husband, but as always it felt like he was fighting a losing battle. REMZI DURMAZ

━ like sisyphus pushing that rock uphill ━ IT WAS KINDA FUNNY THAT RAIK STILL HAD this innocent, angel-like image of Ayla. Remzi did, too, until she told him about Hector. He didn’t hold it against her, though, ‘cause why the fuck would he? Just meant Remzi had an excuse to do whatever the fuck he wanted… ignoring, of course, the fact that he’d started fucking around way before she did.
Remzi laughed like he knew something Raik didn’t, and while he did, it was still dickish. “Me too, man━turns out she wasn’t. Hector got there first. I’m tellin’ you, she did. Told me herself.” He chuckled when he remembered how nervous she’d been, shaking like a leaf when she’d approached him. And the breath of relief she’d let out when Remzi said it was all good, like he was gonna forsake her and send her back to Turkey. Nah, Ayla needed this marriage to work as much as he did, but Remzi was less thrilled about the outside influences. Mostly Leah. He didn’t wanna piss her off, but he wanted to make his mom happy more.
He finished off the last of his blood bag and looked at Raik with raised brows. “Abi,” He started, motioning outwards like he was indicating something specific. “A little?” He asked with a scoff, then continued in Turkish, “I’ve had to replace almost all of Hannya’s dishes, plus any fragile shit she had on the tables. She’s also almost always turning into someone else whenever she so much looks at a speck of dust.” Remzi wasn’t angry, though; he laughed as he tossed out the blood bag and put another in the microwave. She wasn’t a little clumsy, but it was embarrassing━at least until Hannya assured him it was okay. A normal person would’ve still apologized and tried to fix the problem, but Remzi was happy to take her reassurances and not worry about it again.
But yeah, if Raik thought she was so great, why didn’t he shack up with her? It didn’t solve their mom’s problem of getting Remzi to settle down, but he was still a husband for Ayla to marry, and another problem off Remzi’s back.
Despite the microwave’s beep, Remzi still heard Raik’s pulse speed up. He tried not to notice that shit when it came to his brother, but he still wasn’t great at this. His senses always told him when a viable vein was nearby, and the warm blood bag in the microwave wasn’t exactly cutting it. It didn’t mean shit, though, right? Sure, Ayla was hot━not hotter than Leah, but still━and that’s probably all Raik meant. He was all self-righteous and shit, didn’t wanna say when he actually wanted to hop into bed with someone. “Sounds like bullshit, dude,” He pulled the bag from the microwave and tossed the door closed again, then turned to his brother. “Everyone with two eyes and a functioning d*ck thinks of her that way. Hector did.” Remzi chuckled to himself and ripped the bag open at the corner to take a big gulp. “Hey, maybe you could slip in there, huh? Now that she clearly thinks it's cool to bang other dudes.” He scoffed, “Ain’t like I’m not gonna stop once we’re married, but she might.” AKA, now’s your chance━and Remzi didn’t seem to think there was anything wrong with marrying a chick who’d slept with his brother. It didn’t make a difference, though━it was just a fucking piece of paper.

His mouth dried up when Remzi announced that Hector had got there first. He couldn’t stand there passing judgement on her either considering he hadn’t exactly waited until marriage, but he didn’t jump into bed with just anyone. It was a girlfriend, who he loved. There was zero connection between Hector and Ayla or so he thought. Out of all the people she could have chosen it was him. It was filling him with rage that Remzi found the whole situation funny. There was nothing amusing about it at all. Raik didn’t give a shit about Ayla being clumsy or sneezing every time a speck of dust fell on her sleeve. That wasn’t the issue at hand. It wasn’t a good enough reason for Remzi to completely dismiss her as his future wife. He had been trying his damn best to try and convince Remzi to commit to Ayla, but now he had ammo to use whenever the argument was raised. Ayla wasn’t committed herself. Heat started prickly in his face as Remzi called bullshit on Raik’s comments, although it was luckily hidden by his tanned skin. He couldn’t hide his racing pulse, his heart thudding harder as Remzi accused Raik of wanting to bang Ayla because it wasn’t like that. It was far from that. He didn’t look at her like some kind of sexual object. He looked at her and saw the amazing and kind woman she was. It was all tits and ass with Remzi and he wouldn’t know a personality if it slapped him in the face. How they fuck were they related? There had to be some level of misunderstanding between Ayla and Remzi. He simply refused to believe she was out there sleeping with other men, not after their moment together on Halloween. He’d spent enough time with her to see she was nothing like Remzi, who couldn’t give a fuck about their marriage by his own admission. But the fury reached boiling point when Remzi casually told Raik to go and ‘slip in there.’ Remzi was standing there and offering his brother a free pass to sleep with his fiancée, like she was a piece of cattle on offer to the highest bid. He snapped, slamming his hand down on the counter furiously. “Fuck you Remzi.” He exhaled harshly, “You’re an asshole, you know that right? Ayla deserves to be shown respect so fucking show it to her… you have been handed this incredible woman on a plate by anne so be grateful.” It was tiring watching his brother get handed so many second chances but throwing them all away. The tears were going to break through at any moment. Raik stepped back from the counter, “Call mom. Tell her you’re okay.” His voice had returned to a normal volume, but flat and defeated. Remzi loved his chaotic lifestyle and she wasn’t going to break out of it for Ayla. He wouldn’t even do it for Raik, so what was the point? He left the apartment, leaving behind his brother with all his empty blood bags. REMZI DURMAZ - the end!
