The tears had barely dried on her face before she started bawling again. Freddie had updated his Facebook relationship status to single and changed his profile picture to him and his friends. Lottie had yet to gather up enough courage to do that. Perhaps because that would be another indication their marriage was over and they were now announcing that to the world. Also she wanted to avoid people knowing the truth. It hurt enough that Freddie had gone and found someone else, but telling people that was humiliating. She was craving some kind of instant cure to the heartbreaking she was experiencing. A little pill she could swallow and suddenly feel better. The only thing that could make her feel temporary better was a bottle of wine, but she refused to slip into that routine, not because drinking a bottle of wine every night was bad for your liver but because of the number of calories in each bottle. No, she needed to keep the weight off so she could upload pictures of herself on social media looking hot as hell. Well, when she had stopped breaking down every few minutes. Currently, she had dark circles underneath her eyes from the mascara she had cried off. Thankfully she was only a cleaner in the hotel so she could hide in the rooms for most of the day away from the customers. Of course she was grateful Catia had secured her a job at the hotel as a cleaner, but Lottie hated it. Waking up at 5am to strip beds and clean toilets? It was hell, but she kept her mouth glued shut. Well, apart from calling her twin every night to moan about it. It was the only person who wouldn’t judge her for coming across as sounding like a brat. To make matters worse, she wasn’t even good at the job. Who knew you weren't supposed to wash certain fabrics on a high heat or that you couldn’t use floor polish to clean a bedside table? When she made stupid mistakes like that at home it was fine because she and Freddie would laugh about it for a while, but this was her job. She found herself opening Facebook yet again as she threw herself down on one of the sofas in reception. It took about five seconds until she started crying again, staring at his profile picture as the rain started to thrash down on the windows. She sat there for a few minutes, tears rolling off her face, until the front door swung open. Lottie didn’t even have the energy to jump up off the sofa and scurry off out of reception. “Oh, it’s you!” She wiped her cheeks harshly as she locked her phone and pulled herself up off the sofa. “It’s so nice having all my sisters back together again!” She darted over toward Lucky, bringing her sister in for a tight hug trying not to let her running nose transfer over to Lucky’s coat. ━ i'm something bad ━ LUCKY’S PLAN WAS TO AVOID HER SISTER AT all costs. She didn’t want to see Catia’s face and risk feeling guilty, or worse, see Cam and have to resist the urge to puke. She couldn’t believe it━him? Really? Fuck Mitch for getting with some other bitch━actually, multiple other bitches━on the night her sister just so happened to get attacked. She didn’t care who he slept with outside of her━that was his business━but it directly fucking affected her. And now her family, too.
But as much as she didn’t want to see Cat, she also couldn’t just ignore her sister after what happened. Her evil fucking boss would probably take it as an opportunity to swoop in and manipulate Cat, and Lucky wouldn’t fucking have that. And he was an idiot if he thought nobody realized that the attacker had suddenly disappeared without ever facing consequences. Well, regular ones, anyway. She was gonna find a non-supernatural way to share it with JJ, too, and━miscarriage or not━that rich asshole was gonna pay for this shit.
But who really knew what would happen, right? Maybe she’d go confront him and Mitch would start acting up and she’d end up fucking him, too. Ugh. Fucking disgusting.
Lucky dropped Lucy off at school and headed directly to the hotel, getting caught in a sudden storm that seemed to come out of nowhere. She huffed, tucked her chin to her chest, and rushed across town. She allowed her best poker face to slip over her features as she finally got to the doors and slipped inside, almost happy enough to just get a break from the rain━even if her break was here. She glanced behind the desk, frowning at the person who wasn’t Cat nor her boss, and then tensed at the shrill (but familiar) voice aimed in her direction.
God, she should’ve known. Lottie.
Lucky wasn’t particularly close with any of her sisters━well, she hadn’t been until recently━but she’d ended up talking to Lottie after her divorce. Experience with losing a guy, maybe━except Lucky’s was dead. And somehow, Lottie took that as an invitation to come to Mystic Falls, as if the town needed three Christmas girls to complicate shit. Fuck sake.
“Except Viv.” Lucky grunted as Lottie collided with her, her arms moving stiffly around her older sister. Please God don’t let the only missing one come here, too. “Shoulda figured the rain was you.” She muttered, giving Lottie’s back two awkward pats before she separated from her arms.
“You seen Cat?” She asked, glancing around again, then at Lottie… and whatever the fuck she was wearing. Was that a… “Don’t fucking tell me she got you a job here, too.” Lucky said bitterly, already feeling like she knew the answer to that. Fuck. This guy was gonna just steal all her sisters away, wasn’t he?

It was pathetic, but she was considering messaging Freddie to offer some kind of olive branch, as if she was the one who had done something wrong. Like it was her fault that he’d invited another woman into their bed and it was her fault he’d cheated on her. She’d spent hours trying to recall every second of their relationship since they met to see where she’d gone wrong, but she’d been the perfect wife. Nonetheless she still struggled to comprehend why Freddie had an affair in the first place. He’d provided no reason, which made her feel ten times worse. She needed to move on though. New town, new her, new life. But it wasn’t as easy as it sounded with a divorce looming over her head, heavily. It was overwhelming, but her mom was quick to take the steering wheel with that. She refused to let her daughter be bullied by those snobby divorce lawyers Freddie had hired who spoke with really long words Lottie didn’t understand. She didn’t even know how to file for a divorce until a few weeks ago. She couldn’t be a blubbering mess whilst sitting in the reception area, scaring off new guests but she couldn’t help herself. Once the waterworks started it was difficult to turn them off. A common problem that had followed her from childhood into adulthood. The family crybaby. Viv felt like she constantly had her umbrella in the upright position. At least now the rain had left Brownsburg, giving the residents a rest from the bizarre downpours. Lucky didn’t greet Lottie with a loving hug the same way Catia did, but surprisingly Lottie didn’t take it personally. In fact, she would have been shocked if Lucky pulled her in for a tight hug, telling her how nice it was to see her. Most people would have realised there was no from Lucky invitation for Lottie to come to Mystic Falls, but she was never very good at spotting the obvious. “Yeah, no Viv.” She sighed heavily, but Viv’s life wasn’t falling apart so there was no need for her to head to town as well, “Sorry…” She broke away from Lucky, “I’ve managed to keep it down to one a day though!” Like it was some kind of achievement for her to only sob once a day. She shook her head slowly as Lucky’s question, but frowned at her next one. “Um… yes? Why? Is that a bad thing?” Oh god, why was that a bad thing? “Should I quit?” The idea popped into her head without considering the consequences of quitting her job. LUCKY CHRISTMAS

━ i'm something bad ━ LOTTIE ACTUALLY SOUNDED SAD WHEN she mentioned Viv not being here. Oh fuck no. She was not dealing with her other sister, too. Cat and Lottie were more than enough, especially with assholes like Cam and Grey around ready to pluck their fuckin’ eyes out. “Great job,” Lucky grumbled unenthusiastically, not at all impressed by Lottie’s supposed “feat.”
And while Lottie had always been pretty… well, all about herself, Lucky was surprised she hadn’t asked about Lucille. It wasn’t like Lucky brought her around all the time when she still lived in Indiana, but a normal person would wanna see their niece, right? Cat certainly had, and the last time she saw her had been when Lucille was a newborn. There were no Aunt Awards coming Lottie’s way, but Lucky didn’t expect a lot from her sisters.
Regardless, that didn’t mean she had to die just because she’d chosen somewhere stupid to work. If Lottie’s dumb decisions were always a matter of life and death, she never would’ve made it past her first birthday.
At least Cat wasn’t around. Lucky could hover and tell Lottie she was about to get herself killed for working here without worrying about seeing her oldest sister and seeing flashes of Cam’s face while he was… ew.
“Yes, it’s a bad thing, and yes, you should quit. Lottie…” Her voice dropped to a hushed whisper, one arm curling around Lottie’s arm to bring her in closer. “The owner, Grey Maddox, is a fucking douchebag, and a murderer. He’s evil. Like, kills people for fun, him and his girlfriend.” She would’ve mentioned JJ’s article if it’d done any good in the end. Ugh, what a waste of her fucking time. “Cat won’t fucking listen to me, she thinks they’re best friends when I bet he’d sell her out for next to nothing, too. I know you need a job, but this shit isn’t worth it. You have places to go if you can’t find anything else for a while. It’s better than working here.” And that’s as close as Lucky would get to offering up her couch. Cat lived in the hotel, though, didn’t she? So there was no point for her to stay with their big sister. Maybe she should’ve just gone back to Indiana. Jesus Christ, Lucky might fucking call Freddie herself after this and beg him to take Lottie back.

Oh, life would be so good if Viv was in town as well. The sister’s all reunited. Maybe Lottie should text Viv and ask her to come to Mystic Falls as well, leaving behind her life. “Thank you!” Lottie beamed with a smile on her face. She had been doing a great job by keeping the storms down to one per day. It hadn’t been easy, but she was trying her best. It was easy for her to become wrapped up in her own problems, forgetting to ask other people about their lives. It was never intentional though, she just lacked the mental capacity to realise that she wasn’t the only person in the world with problems. Was it selfish? Perhaps, but could you blame her? Course not. Her mind had one single thought running through it ninety percent of the time and that was Freddie. Lottie edged closer to Lucky, listening carefully to her sister. She gasped loudly, probably too loudly, throwing one hand over her mouth. A murderer? Her stomach dropped as her mouth started to water. She swallowed harshly, forcing the sick back down again. “But…” She couldn’t focus with a zillion questions racing through her head. She did however manage to lower her voice, “How do you know this? And why didn’t Cat tell me? Have you told the cops? Oh God… I can’t die Lucky! I’m too young to die.” Grey had been nice to her as well, giving her a mini tour of the hotel and showing her how things worked. “I’m living here. I can’t just quit right now… I need to find somewhere to go first… I hope Cat isn’t mad at me when I quit.” Lottie did hate the job though, so she could probably pass it off as that, insisting it wasn’t for her. “We gotta get Cat out of here too! She can't be murdered either.”LUCKY CHRISTMAS - wanna wrap with yours?

━ i'm something bad ━ LUCKY WASN’T CLOSE TO HER SISTERS, ANY OF them, but she didn’t want them to die. At some point, Catia had brought it on herself, but Lucky wasn’t gonna let her drag Lottie into it, too. This bitch barely had two brain cells to rub together. She wasn’t sure what Grey would want with her (his “sacrifices” were supposed to be for a purpose), but Lucky wasn’t gonna take any chances. Who’d wanna be connected to that dude, anyway? Only JJ’s boss was crazy enough for that shit.
And Cat. But Cat was a lost fucking cause.
Obviously, Lottie started to freak the fuck out, and Lucky puffed out a breath, almost wishing she hadn’t said anything at all. No, no, this was her sister’s life she was trying to save. She wasn’t that much of an asshole.
Great, Lottie was living there, too. Honestly, what did Lucky expect? Of course Lottie would get herself so wrapped up in the crazy asshole who could potentially kill her. “I know ‘cause I read him.” It might take Lottie a second, but she wouldn’t forget one of her little sister’s abilities, would she? “Cat didn’t tell you ‘cause she’s wrapped up in his shit, too. She thinks he’s a good person. And no, I didn’t say anything to the cops. Somebody else tried to expose him, and they got shut down.” She crossed her arms over her chest and stared up at her sister with a deep frown, “Who gives a fuck about Cat? I tried to warn her, but she just defends him. Says they’re best friends and shit. She won’t go. Isn’t worth the argument.” And if only Lottie could be saved, then so be it. Lucky wasn’t gonna stick her neck out just ‘cause their eldest sister was fucking delusional.
“We’ll figure it out.” Lucky puffed eventually. She didn’t wanna offer Lottie her apartment, but she’d deal with it if it came to that. “There’s tons of places in town that’re hiring,” Lucky didn’t know how many of those positions only required half a brain, but, “And there’s the motel. Obviously don’t drop your shit and get out now, it’ll look suspicious, but I’m just saying, like, don’t wait.”
She checked her phone after a moment, then sighed again. “I gotta go grab groceries. Seeya,” Lucky tried to be at least semi-pleasant, but she couldn’t help thinking that she hoped it wasn’t too soon.
