– I freed myself from words never said –
Jed nodded his head slowly at Summer's words. "Yeah, I get what you mean." It was why he didn't have a lot of human friends. He had a few outside of the school but that was about it, just to protect them from ever getting hurt or from seeing something that they shouldn't have seen to begin with. "Then, you will get to have something like that in your life. Being a werewolf isn't going to be all struggles and rain. It has its upsides, too." Jed, at first, wanted to try to convince Summer not to become a werewolf, but after hearing her reasons and why she needed to do this, he couldn't stand in her way. Not like this. So, he wanted her to know that being a werewolf didn't just include the pain of the shifts, the anger, and everything else. It also had good parts. "No, not everyone. Just my pack and my close friends, just so that we can keep an eye on your parents." Jed assured her with a quick nod of his head following. "If you decide to enroll here, you will be able to have a fresh start. No one has to know unless you want them to." Jed promised with a small smile resting on his lips. "You're welcome, Summer." Jed added when she thanked him. He was just speaking from his heart. "Okay. Take care, yeah?" And with that, Jed parted ways.
Jed smiled a little when Summer thanked him, his expression softening a little. “I guess I just wanted to tell you what my dad first told me when he found me in the woods after I triggered my curse. That I won’t be alone and even though being a werewolf has its downs, it has its ups, too. I did kinda growl at him after that and tell him to get lost, but, his words did get stuck with me.” Jed offered with a brief chuckle following, keeping his tone light-hearted. “Okay, one of the dorm rooms it is. C’mon, I think I know the right one.” And with that, Jed began slowly making his way to the room, giving Summer enough time, again, to reconsider if needed. His expression softened when Summer revealed that she felt safe with him. “Of course. For both requests. I’ll get Eddie, and I’ll be there. If anything at all happens, I’ll be right there. You don’t have to feel scared. You’re in good hands.” Jed assured her with a gentle smile resting on his lips. Upon reaching the room, he slowly opened the door and stepped out of the way for Summer to get in first. He reached for his phone next to call Eddie, knowing that he shouldn’t leave Summer all alone to go get her brother, so he decided it’d be best to give him a call. After describing what room they were in, he pocketed his phone not long after. “He won’t be long now. Uh. Why don’t you have a seat, relax a little ‘til he comes? I know this must feel nerve-wrecking for you.” Jed suggested as he lingered by the bed, his eyes relaxing on Summer again.

Not too long ago Summer would have thought that she was losing her mind. She had been compelled into thinking that nothing was wrong with what was going on at home and she had been made to forget anything strange that had happened. She hadn’t been allowed to talk about what was going on but her parents had grown complacent and eventually they had forgotten to compel her or Daniel which had left the two of them free to go and get help. For years they had been made to keep what was going on a secret from the outside world and not ask questions but now Summer and her siblings were free to make their own decisions and she knew that she needed to make sure that it stayed that way. Her friends knew that something had changed in her after that day but she couldn’t explain to them what it was. They would never understand, not like Jed and others at the Salvatore School could. “Do the good things make the bad bearable?” she asked gently. She knew that every transformation would hurt and she would have the anger to contend with as well but if it meant being able to protect her family then she knew that it would be worth it. “That makes sense. Thank you for everything you’re doing,” she said sincerely. She really did appreciate the trouble that they were all going to because of her family. “I’m glad Eddie has some people to talk to about it,” she added. He needed it after what had happened and it was good to know he had people he could turn to. “That actually sounds pretty good,” she admitted as Jed said that no one had to know unless she wanted them to. She knew that it would be good to pick and choose who she told so that was definitely a positive. “I will, thanks,” she nodded, offering Jed a smile as he told her to take care before they went their separate ways. It would have been easy for Summer to rush her decision but this was the rest of her life that she was thinking about and she knew that she needed to make sure she did the right thing. Her family meant the world to her and even though things were tense after what had happened with her parents and there were siblings she didn’t feel like she could trust right now, she knew that she would still do anything for them. In the end she knew that she was making the right decision and Jed seemed to support that just like he promised he would. “I can just imagine you doing that,” she laughed as Jed said he growled at his dad and told him to get lost. “I’m glad that his words stuck with you though and that you had him looking out for you,” she admitted gently. From what Jed had said it hadn’t been easy for him at all but he had managed to get through it and she knew that she had to believe that she would too. “Alright,” she nodded as she followed him in the direction of the dorm room Jed was thinking of. Summer knew that she could still back out of this and she would be lying if she said that she wasn’t incredibly nervous but this was the best way she knew of protecting her family and she knew that she wasn’t going to change her mind. “Thank you, that means a lot,” she admitted as Jed said he would be there. She really did feel safe with him and that was something that she hadn’t expected at all. Entering the room when Jed held the door open for her, Summer turned to face Jed as he called Eddie and told him where they were before nodding as he suggested she take a seat. “It’s scary but I know it’s the right thing to do, I just hope my body doesn’t reject the bite,” she breathed. That was what scared her more than anything else, that it might not work and she would lose her life. If she didn’t do this then so many of her siblings could lose their lives, though, and she knew that she had to go through with it. Sitting down on the edge of the bed, she felt the nerves starting to build and relief flooding through her when the door opened and Eddie entered. “Hey, thanks for being here,” she said, getting up and wrapping her arms around him in a tight hug. Letting go of him she sat down on the bed once more and Eddie took her hand in his as she turned to look at Jed. “I’m ready,” she nodded. JED SALTZMAN

– I freed myself from words never said –
Jed nodded his head at Summer's question. "They do." Jed assured in a soft voice. "Otherwise, I don't think most of us would still be around today." If it was all bad, then they'd surely lose their way or lose the fight entirely. But, there was also good that came from being a werewolf or any other supernatural creature. "It's the least that I can do." Jed replied in a soft voice when Summer thanked him for everything he was doing. Truth be told, he didn't even feel like he was doing much. "Soon enough, so will you. If you decide to go through with this." Jed said in a gentle voice, his eyes relaxing on Summer once again. From there, it was time for him to give Summer some space to consider the offer.
Jed chuckled at Summer's words because it was definitely an interesting thing to imagine. "God, I was a menace." But Ric and Jenna never gave up on him and instead helped him get comfortable slowly but surely and soon enough, they became like a family to him. A family he had always wanted. "Yeah, me too." Jed said with a small smile resting on his lips and because of him, Jed wanted to be a better guiding light for the pack. He wanted them to know that they can always count on him. "You're most welcome, Summer." Jed replied in a gentle voice. His expression softened at her next words. "Don't worry, if anything at all happens, I have my sister on speed dial. I'm not going to let anything bad happen to you." Jed promised in a gentle voice as he spoke.
Jed offered Eddie a gentle smile when he came to stay with his sister during such a vulnerable time. "Okay." Jed took in a deep breath before he approached. "Just as a little fair warning. It's going to hurt." Jed extended his hand out for Summer to offer her arm. "Guess the arm should be a good place to do it." Jed said, his eyes still on Summer. "Close your eyes for me. If there's a happy place you often go to for distractions, I encourage you to do that. It'll help with the pain." Jed offered in a soft voice. "Ready?" Jed waited for her confirmation and with a final look at Eddie, he leaned forward and bit down on Summer's arm, giving her the bite, his eyes glowing red before he slackened his jaw around her arm and finally let go of her, drawing back with concerned eyes scanning over Summer's features as he waited with bated breath to see how her body was going to react.

“That’s good,” Summer admitted, glad that there was something to look forward to at least. A few weeks ago she never would have thought that this would even be something that she would have to think about, she hadn’t known about the supernatural world and even though she had known that what her parents were doing wasn’t right, she had been compelled to forget that the two of them were vampires. Now her eyes had been opened to a whole new world she hadn’t even known existed and it was a lot to take in but now she was about to throw herself headfirst into that world even more. Eddie hadn’t asked for any of this, it was a decision that she and her brothers had made for him rather than losing him and she didn’t regret it but she knew that she couldn’t expect him to shoulder this alone. It wasn’t fair to expect Eddie to protect their family alone but there was something she could do about that and she knew that she needed to really think it through first. “That’s definitely something to go in the pro column,” she nodded. Being surrounded by people she could actually talk to about what had happened with her parents if she wanted to was definitely something that she could get on board with, that was for sure. “You’ve come a long way from that now though, I wouldn’t have had any idea if you hadn’t said anything,” she admitted. Jed had gone out of his way to help her family and that didn’t sound like someone who had been a menace in the past. The person he was now was already someone that she was starting to look up to, though, and she knew that Eddie was as well. “It sounds like the two of you are close,” she said gently. She hadn’t had that close relationship with her parents ever since her brother died so there was a part of her that envied Jed in a way for that part at least. “I didn’t think there was any way to stop it if I start rejecting the bite?” Summer asked, pretty sure that was what Jed had said with Eddie. She hadn’t met Jed’s sister so she didn’t know what she would be able to do if that happened but just knowing that there was someone who might be able to help was somewhat of a relief. Having Eddie there made her feel a lot better and she offered her brother a grateful smile. “I’d be surprised if it didn’t,” Summer said, letting out a nervous laugh as Jed said that it was going to hurt. Soon he was holding his hand out to her and Summer took his hand, her arm extending as he said that the arm would be a good place for it. Now it was all starting to feel real and she could feel her heart starting to hammer in her chest but she knew that she wasn’t going to change her mind, not when she had finally made the decision to do it. Closing her eyes, Summer took a deep breath and tried to think about just about anything else. She wasn’t so sure she had a happy place these days but she knew that she didn’t want to prolong the inevitable because that would only make it worse. “Ready,” she nodded, her eyes still closed and Eddie gave her hand a squeeze, talking to her the whole time to try and take her mind off of what was about to happen. As Jed bit her arm, a cry escaped Summer’s lips and she fought back tears as her eyes flew open. “You weren’t kidding about it hurting,” she breathed, bringing her arm close to her chest and cradling it against her. “How long until we know if it worked?” she asked, knowing that it had all been such a blur when Eddie was bitten.
