So much had changed in such a short space of time and the truth was that it was enough to make Summer’s head spin. She had always known that there was something different about her parents, that had become clear when they’d returned home after going missing for a day but she had never let herself think that the reason they had changed was because they had become vampires. It sounded crazy but she had seen it for herself and she knew now that it was true. Her parents had killed her older brother and after that they had started adopting kids into the family so they could use them as bloodbags. Thanks to the compulsion her parents had placed on her she didn’t know how many kids they had killed along the way but she had seen how much they had enjoyed it when they had been hunting Eddie and she was certain that he wasn’t the first they had tried that with. Her brother hadn’t deserved that and none of the other kids who had been adopted into the family had deserved the way that they had been treated either. They were given a home but it was more like a prison than anything and with the way her parents had limited the amount of food they were able to have it really was a miracle that they hadn’t wasted away by now. The only way to save Eddie was for Jed to turn him into a werewolf and Summer really was grateful to him for that. Eddie was a complete stranger to Jed but he had still wanted to help and in doing so he had made sure that her brother had the chance to live. Their family seemed like it was one disagreement away from falling apart at the moment and their parents were still out there. Summer knew that her twin sister Ayda had enjoyed the thrill of the hunt just like their parents had and the truth was that summer didn’t trust her not to betray them one bit. She felt a little bad even thinking that about her twin sister but she couldn’t help it. Ayda was unhinged and they all knew that but at this point Summer really didn’t know how to help her. There was one way that she could help the rest of her family, though, and that was why she had headed to the Salvatore School that day. She was only just learning about werewolves and the supernatural world but she knew that she needed to be able to protect her family if her parents returned and Eddie had told her how much stronger he felt now. She had seen it with her own eyes as well and even though she had never seen herself as the power hungry type and she hoped Jed wouldn’t see her that way now, she knew that she needed to be stronger and faster if she was going to stand a chance at protecting her family. She knew that she wasn’t to blame for what her parents had done but she still felt like she should have done more so this was her chance to do that now. Catching sight of Jed with some of his friends, Summer jogged over and felt a half smile touch her lips as she came to a stop close to him. “Hey Jed, do you have a minute?” she asked, hoping that he wouldn’t turn her away once he knew what she wanted. Jed was taking small but meaningful steps with Eddie, helping him slowly but surely learn how to control his wolf. The younger also seemed to be taking it all really well, too, so he was pretty grateful about that. He was pretty concerned at first that he had just made Eddie's already hard life even harder. But thankfully, it seemed that Eddie was doing everything that he can to learn more about who and what he was without showing Jed that he hated him for turning him into a wolf.
Jed had decided to spend some time at the school. He checked up on Eddie first before he decided to spend some time with his friends to catch up with them and check if he had missed anything. He was currently talking to MG and Landon when he heard a very familiar voice call out to him which caused him to turn his attention to the source of the voice, his brows shooting up when he saw who it was. He knew he recognized that voice. His lips stretched into a gentle smile at the sight of her, his surprise evaporating upon rationalizing that Summer was probably here to check up on her brother and it wasn't necessary because something bad had taken place.
"Hey, Summer. Yeah, of course." Jed nodded his head and turned his attention to his friends. They caught the cue and told Jed that they will catch up with him later on. "Okay, see you guys later." Jed watched them walk away for a moment before his attention turned to Summer. "Is everything okay?" Jed couldn't deny that he was curious but also a bit concerned. Summer, Eddie, and the other siblings had already suffered enough at the hands of their parents and he really didn't want them to have a repeat of that ever again. But he was still worried about them especially since their parents were out there and he can't imagine that they will simply let their kids go just like that. They were plotting something and whatever it was, it wasn't good.

It had taken Summer a while to get her head around the fact that her parents were vampires but it was made even worse by the fact that they had been treating her adoptive siblings as human blood bags. She knew that she would never understand how they could do such an awful thing but right now it was all she could do to hope that she and her siblings would be able to stay together. She wouldn’t blame her adoptive siblings if they wanted to leave her and the rest of her biological siblings behind and try to forget that this whole thing even happened but she hoped that they wouldn’t decide that they wanted to do that. She had siblings who had quite happily tormented those who were adopted into their family but she wasn’t among them, she had only ever tried to help her adoptive siblings and she hoped that that would count for something. Right now she was worried about Eddie more than anything. He was adjusting to being a werewolf and he seemed to be settling in pretty well at the Salvatore School. Her parents had stopped him and her other adoptive siblings from leaving the house so going to school had never been an option for them but now they had the chance to change that and it seemed like Eddie at least was embracing that. He wouldn’t have to hide what he had been through at the school, not like she was currently having to do with her friends at Mystic Falls High. Truth be told Summer wasn’t sure that she could go back to the life she had lived before the truth came out and she wasn’t sure that she wanted to either. That was what had brought her to the school that day, she needed to know more about the world she and her family had been living in without even realising and she needed to make sure that she could protect her siblings if her parents returned. She felt a little bad for interrupting Jed while he was talking to his friends and as he asked if everything was okay she realised that she had probably worried him by showing up unexpected. “Everything’s okay. Sorry, I didn’t mean to worry you,” she said gently. “I wanted to check in and see how Eddie is doing, he called me the other day and filled me in on a few things but I know you’ve been helping him and I hope you’ll tell me the truth if he’s struggling with being a werewolf or what happened in general. Eddie doesn’t open up easily about that kind of thing and I know he wouldn’t want to worry me,” she explained, hoping that Jed would be honest with her about how her brother was doing. JED SALTZMAN

Jed seemed relieved to hear that everything was okay with Summer. "It's okay." He didn't want her to feel like she can't come to him just because he had a tendency to worry, so he reeled in his concern now that he was certain that Summer was okay. He crossed his arms in front of his chest as he waited for Summer to explain what was going on. He didn't want to rush her, after all. "Oh." Jed commented when he realized that she wanted to know how her brother was doing with being a werewolf. "Yeah, of course I'd tell you." Jed said with a quick nod of his head following.
"He's doing good so far, taking it like champ, honestly. It's such a huge change for him, that's why I'm so proud of him for taking it so well." Jed said, uncrossing his arms not long after, letting his hands rest inside the pockets of his jacket instead. "If things start going south or if I feel like he's not doing too well, I'll definitely let you know, Summer." Jed promised with a quick nod of his head following. "I think the biggest challenge for anyone who was just turned into a werewolf is controlling their anger, and of course, surviving each full moon." Jed said with a quick shrug of his shoulders following. "So, either way, I'll definitely keep an eye on him and continue helping him with our training. Don't worry, yeah?"

Summer knew that she should perhaps leave Eddie to it, he had a new life that he had to try and get his head around now and the truth was that he was probably much better off far away from all of them but she knew that he wouldn’t just abandon them. She wouldn’t blame him if he did after everything that their parents had put him through but that wasn’t who her brother was. He would stay and fight but the truth was that she was worried about him. He had been through so much and she didn’t know how to help him right now but Jed did and that was one of the reasons why she had sought him out that day. The other was a question she wasn’t sure how to ask so she knew that she was just going to have to figure that out somehow. “Thank you,” Summer said, unable to deny that she was relieved when Jed said that he would tell her if things weren’t going well for Eddie. She knew that her brother would try and put on a brave face and make out that everything was fine but Jed was different. She had thought that she could trust him to be honest with her about how Eddie was doing and it looked like she was right about that after all. “I’m so glad. I know he has a lot to learn but I’m glad he has you looking out for him,” she admitted. It had only been by chance that Jed had overheard her and Daniel talking that day and had promised that he could help them. They had pleaded with him to turn Eddie into a werewolf as it was the only way he stood a chance at making it out of there alive but she couldn’t deny that she had been worried that it might have been a terrible mistake. “I’ll try not to,” she nodded as Jed told her not to worry. “That’s actually not the only reason I wanted to speak to you,” she admitted, rubbing the back of her neck nervously as she looked over at Jed. “Eddie has been through so much and I know he’ll want to try and keep us safe from our parents but I’m worried he won’t be able to handle it if he sees them again,” she explained, hoping that Jed would understand. “I know with Eddie you didn’t have a choice but I need to be able to protect my family if he can’t. That’s why I was hoping you would consider turning me into a werewolf too.”JED SALTZMAN

"Having you guys in his life is making a difference too, I'm sure." Jed said with a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "You're a good sister, Summer." He responded when Summer told him that she will try not to worry about her brother. He was quiet from there as he listened to her because his interest was piqued when she mentioned that this wasn't the only reason that she wanted to talk to him. He tilted his head slightly to the side and waited for her to elaborate. "He won't have to stand against them alone." Jed promised with a quick nod of his head following, wanting Summer to know that he won't let them stand up against their parents alone. He was going to try his best to help out.
His expression completely shifted into one of surprise when he processed Summer's request. "What–?" Jed breathed out. The refusal was right there, hanging from the tip of his tongue, begging to be released because Summer can't possibly know what she was willingly signing herself up for. "Summer, I–" But he understood why she was asking him in the first place. It wasn't the promise of power that tempted her, but instead it all stemmed from a good place. A place that desperately wanted to protect herself. "I understand why you wanna do this, trust me." Jed said after a moment of consideration.
"But, it's not an easy thing to go through, trust me. My bite could kill you. I need you to know that. Your body could reject it." Jed wanted to help glue the family back together, not tear them apart further. "It's a huge risk and even if you survive the bite, there's no telling that you will find it easy to process everything else. Being a werewolf it's–" Jed trailed off with a soft sigh falling from his lips. "Not exactly a walk in the park. It's why Eddie and I have all this extensive training. Do you understand the risks? If you want to get stronger, I can talk to Headmaster Alaric about one on one self-defense training sessions, you don't have to become a werewolf. Unless you've already made up your mind."

“That’s nice of you to say but I wouldn’t actually blame him if he didn’t want anything more to do with us after what our parents did,” Summer admitted. Eddie and the other adopted kids had been fed on for who knew how long and they had been locked away in the house with no way of leaving it. She and her biological siblings had at least had the freedom to go to school and have friends but Eddie and the others hadn’t had that. As Jed said that she was a good sister, Summer shook her head. “I’m really not,” she sighed. “He and the others were being fed on for ages and either I missed it or I was compelled to forget it but either way I let him down. I couldn’t stop our parents from doing that to him,” she said, her eyes stinging with tears which she quickly blinked away refusing to break down at a time like this. “I appreciate that but you have your own life to lead, Jed, and you’ve already done so much for us. We can’t expect you to be on call anytime something happens,” she said gently. She didn’t want to put Jed in that position, not when he had already gone out of his way to help them even though he hardly knew them. Summer could see that her question had caught Jed off guard and she felt bad about that but she’d needed to ask. “I know, I remember you saying that when you bit Eddie,” Summer nodded, letting out a shaky breath as Jed said that her body could reject the bite. As Jed spoke again, Summer took a moment to really consider his words. “Can you honestly tell me that as a human I’ll be able to stand up to two fully grown vampires or that they won’t be able to use their mind control again like they did last time?” she asked as she looked over at him. “I know none of it would be easy but right now I’m not sure I have another choice. It isn’t fair to put the burden of protecting us on Eddie and it feels like our family is on the verge of falling apart. I have to do something,” she breathed, really not sure what other choice there was. “I won’t lie and say that becoming a werewolf doesn’t scare me, Eddie has passed on some of what you’ve told him but I don’t know what else to do.”JED SALTZMAN

"He wouldn't be trying so hard to become strong if he didn't want anything to do with you guys. He wants to protect you, to keep you safe. You guys mean a lot to him." Jed assured her with a gentle shake of his head following. He frowned slightly as he continued listening to Summer before he offered her a small smile. "There was no stopping your parents. They were too far gone, Summer. It's their compulsion, it must've prevented you from ever standing in their way. I really don't think you had a choice in the matter. What matters is that you guys are out now." Jed knew that the guilt was one that was going to stay with Summer for a long, long time, but he hoped that with time, she will begin to understand that what her parents had done wasn't her fault and they were just too far gone and beyond saving.
Jed shook his head slowly at Summer's question. "I want to be there, okay? Let me help." Jed offered with a determined nod of his head following. He wasn't just going to abandon them. He was going to do everything to make sure they are protected. They suffered for so long already, so he wanted to at least try and be there for them. It came as a surprise to him when he heard what Summer wanted to ask of him. He understood why she wanted that, he really did. She wanted to keep her family safe especially after everything and with her family still out there, somewhere, he knew that they will never feel safe. Jed pressed his lips into a thin line at Summer's next words because he knew that she had a point. Her parents would overpower her because in the end, she was still a human.
"I can't." Jed knew it would be useless to lie to her about something like that when she already seemed to know the answer. Jed was quiet as he really considered Summer's words. He knew that the decision stemmed from a good place. A place that wanted to protect her family from harm's way. "I just need you to know that after stopping your parents, you're still going to be a werewolf, Summer. You're still going to shift every full moon. You're still gonna have problems controlling your anger sometimes. It's not going to be easy, but, by becoming a werewolf, you will have a much better chance at protecting your family and yourself, so I understand why you wanna do this." Jed nodded his head, his voice was still gentle. "That's why I won't stand in your way." Jed added a moment later. 'So if you're absolutely sure that you want to do this, then I'll help you."

“I want to believe that but so many of my siblings treated him badly, Jed. He deserved so much better than that,” Summer sighed. She and one of her sisters had always tried to look out for her adoptive siblings but the rest had either been open about their hatred of their adoptive siblings or they had tried to pretend that they didn’t even exist. Summer had hated the way that things were for such a long time but there hadn’t been much that she could do about it. Now the thought of Eddie deciding that he was better off on his own scared her but she really wouldn’t blame him if he ultimately made that decision. “We’re free of them for now but Ada enjoyed the hunt and I think Art secretly did as well. We’re not safe right now, not when either one of them could invite out parents into our new place,” she shrugged. She knew that Jed was right, she hadn’t had any control over what her parents did and they likely had compelled her but that didn’t make the guilt go away. She still felt like she should have found a way to do something sooner than she had done and if she had then perhaps they wouldn’t be in this mess. She knew that she was one of the youngest and her older siblings were meant to look out for the rest of them and Daniel and Robbie were honestly trying but otherwise she felt like she was on her own. “Okay,” Summer nodded as Jed said that he wanted to be there and offered to help. Summer knew that she needed to take him up on it for her family’s sake but it didn’t change her mind about what she had come here today to ask him. “I thought you would say that,” she admitted as Jed said he couldn’t tell her that she would be able to stop her parents if she stayed human. She knew that she shouldn’t be feeling like this was her problem to fix but at the same time she just couldn’t help it. She needed to do something, she hadn’t been able to stop the hunt and she hadn’t been able to stop her parents from feeding on her siblings either but she knew that she had to do everything in her power to stop them from finding themselves in that same position again. As Jed said that even after she stopped her parents she would still be a werewolf, Summer let out a breath she hadn’t known she was holding. “I kn-know,” she stammered, hating the way her voice broke as she said it. “I know there’s no coming back from it but I don’t have a choice,” she said at last. “What’s it like shifting on the full moon?” she asked, needing to know what she would be letting herself in for. “I’m sorry for putting you in this position, by the way. You’ve already done so much for us but I don’t know who else to turn to.”JED SALTZMAN

– I freed myself from words never said –
Jed nodded his head slowly at Summer's words. Eddie did deserve better, but so did the rest of them, even the corrupted ones among the family. It made his heart ache to know that they had suffered so much. "I know. That's why I'm having a few of my friends keeping an eye on the two of them, just in case." Jed said with a quick nod of his head following. There was just no telling what they were capable of doing. It was... scary, to say the least.
Jed was quiet as he watched Summer, his expression shifting into one of sympathy as he listened to her. As much as he wanted to tell her that she had a choice, he couldn't exactly see what that choice was. Jed tilted his head slightly at her question about how it was like to shift on a full moon. "It's painful, that's for sure. Your bones break one after the other as your body transforms into a wolf. It hurts. A lot. But it only hurts so much in the beginning, then after you just know what's going to happen. You anticipate the pain. But if it's your first time shifting, it can feel very overwhelming." Jed said with a quick nod of his head following. Jed can still remember what it was like for him to shift for the first time. "It's fine, Summer. I made a promise that I was going to do whatever it takes to keep you guys safe." Jed said with a small smile resting on his lips. "I know I'm making it sound like being a werewolf is all bad and it's not fair to you to do that. I think a subconscious part of me wants you to change your mind, but, I should also tell you that being a werewolf, it.." Jed trailed off, licking his bottom lip for a moment as he took that pause as an opportunity to get his thoughts in order. "It changes you. You will have enhanced strength, speed, agility, durability, and senses. You'll be able to elevate pain from others through a touch. Your bite could put your parents in a lot of pain and eventually, they will die. I guess what I'm trying to say that being a werewolf isn't going to be all bad. There's a lot of good that comes from it and I'm sure with proper training, you will be able to protect your family and anyone else you care about. Now that you knows the pros and cons of becoming a werewolf, I need you to think again and let me know your decision, okay? If you're ready for what being a werewolf entails, then I'll support you, Summer. Every step of the way."

“Thank you, I appreciate that,” Summer admitted as Jed said that he had a few of his friends keeping an eye on her parents just in case. It really did scare Summer that they were still out there, they were her parents and she was meant to love them no matter what but she had seen the monsters that they had become and she was terrified of what they were capable of. She knew that there was every chance that they would end up tracking her and her siblings down and she didn’t trust Ada not to invite them in one bit. She worried that her twin was going to put them all in danger again and if that happened then she wasn’t sure how many of them would make it out of there alive. Her family was hardly holding it together as it was and the truth was that she wasn’t sure just how much more they could take before everything fell apart. Summer knew that asking Jed to turn her into a werewolf was a big deal and the truth was that she had been thinking about it a lot ever since Eddie almost died. She loved her brother and she knew that he would want to try and protect them but she also knew that what he went through wasn’t going to be easy for him to get over. They had the numbers against their parents but they didn’t have the strength and with Ada and Art no doubt siding with their parents and June being a wildcard at the best of times, Summer really wasn’t sure how it would go when their parents returned. She didn’t want to risk losing any of her siblings even though right now everything seemed to be crumbling. “You go through that every month?” Summer asked, wincing at the thought. She had known that it wouldn’t be easy but she hadn’t expected that and it was enough to fill her with dread. She wasn’t sure that it was enough to make her change her mind, though. As Jed said he wasn’t being fair to her by making out that being a werewolf was all bad, Summer’s expression softened. “It’s alright, I know you’re just looking out for me,” she assured him. She completely understood why he was trying to put her off but she also knew that it was her best way to protect her family. “It isn’t the power that appeals to me, I need to be able to protect my family,” she explained, hoping that he could see that she meant it. “I guess in a way a part of me also wants to feel like I belong somewhere. Things with my family have been so bad for so long and I was compelled not to tell any of my friends about what life was like at home. Even now I can’t bring myself to talk to any of them about what happened because I don’t know that I can be the one to open their eyes to all of this,” she sighed. “I love them but between that and everything going on at home I feel out of place at the moment,” she admitted. Truth be told Summer wasn’t really sure how to talk to her friends right now, she definitely couldn’t tell them about what had happened with her parents and Eddie but Eddie had people that he could be himself with and not have to try and hide anything and if she was honest she was a little envious of that. “Thank you, I really appreciate that. I’ll definitely think it over,” she nodded as Jed said he would support her every step of the way. “Can I ask you a question?” she began, needing to know the answer from someone who had been a werewolf for a while. “If you were in my position knowing what you know from being a werewolf for as long as you have, would you choose to become one?” she asked, not sure whether Jed would pick becoming a werewolf or whether he would choose to stay human. – I freed myself from words never said –
Jed nodded his head slowly at Summer's question. "Ever since I triggered my curse." Jed confirmed shortly after, his eyes fixed on Summer. "It's the feeling after shifting that makes all that pain worth it, in my opinion. You feel free." Jed explained with a gentle smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "I know it's not." Jed offered when Summer told him that it wasn't the power that appealed to her. He was quiet as he listened to her, nodding his head slowly in an understanding manner. His expression softened at her desire to feel like she belonged. By becoming a werewolf, she'd naturally become a member of his pack if she chose to join the Salvatore Boarding School. "It's difficult, trust me, I get it. There's also a good chance that they might not believe that you went through that because it does sound near impossible until you experience it. By becoming a member of my pack, you will find yourself place with us, Summer. You'll belong." Jed promised with a nod of his head following, knowing it was useless for him to try and convince Summer to change her mind because truth was, he understood why she was doing this and her cause was noble. He could never stand in her way.
Jed did look relieved that Summer was going to think it over now that she knew what Jed had to say about her desire to become a werewolf. He paused at her question, bottom lip momentarily caught between his teeth. "Um..." Jed considered her question for a moment before he finally nodded his head. "I would." Jed answered after a few pauses. "Because the end goal of protecting my family and taking care of them would make all of this worth it." Jed said with a nod of his head following. "The way I became a werewolf was also to protect someone that I cared about. Thing is, when it happened, I ran, Summer. That's why when I heard why you wanted to become a werewolf, I can't help but imagine myself living this life if I were to stay with my previous pack. What I'm trying to say is that you've got a good heart, Summer. Don't ever change, okay? That's why I'm choosing to support your decision to become a werewolf."

Summer knew that asking Jed to turn her into a werewolf was a big ask, he didn’t really know her but he had saved her brother and was going out of his way to help them with their parents and that alone was enough to make her see that he was a good guy. She was desperate to save her family and stop them falling prey to her parents again and this really was the only way she could think of to do that. She still knew that she needed to know more, though, and as Jed said full moons had been like that for him ever since he triggered his curse, Summer nodded. “I bet there’s nothing like that, it must be incredible,” Summer admitted. She couldn’t deny that that part intrigued her, she knew that the pain would be awful but she could just imagine what it must be like to then spend the night as a wolf and she knew that she could definitely think of worse things. “Exactly. I bet if I tried telling them what happened they’d think I was crazy even if Eddie showed them his claws to prove it,” she sighed, remembering the way the police officer hadn’t believed it when she and Daniel had tried to explain it to him. None of the friends she had would ever truly understand what had happened that day or how it had changed her. As Jed said that she would find her place with them by becoming a member of his pack and that she would belong, a small smile touched Summer’s lips. “You have no idea how much I want that,” she admitted. It was definitely something to put in the pro column, that was for sure. Even though Summer was pretty sure she knew what her decision was going to be she had been given a lot of new information and she knew that she needed to really think it over before deciding. It wasn’t an easy decision to make, it was the rest of her life she was thinking about and she knew that she needed to make sure that she was doing the right thing. Summer wasn’t really surprised when Jed said that he would have decided to become a werewolf if he was in her position. “That’s what I’m thinking too,” she nodded. She wanted to be able to protect her family and finding somewhere she belonged in the process would definitely be a bonus. Her outlook on life had changed so much ever since that day, she was a cheerleader and she was popular and while that used to matter to her, it really didn’t anymore. Now her eyes had been opened to a world that was so much bigger than she had ever realised it could be and she needed to find her place in it. “I’ll try not to,” Summer assured him. She couldn’t guarantee that she wouldn’t change because she had no idea what the future was going to hold but she knew that she would do her best to try and stay the same as much as possible. “I gave you my word that I would think about it and I intend on keeping that promise. Would it be ok if I take some time and find you later to let you know what I decide?” she asked, making sure that Jed was fine with it before doing just that.
Summer hadn’t been to the Salvatore School before but she couldn’t deny that it was incredible. She spent some of her time sitting out on the jetty thinking things through and took the long way back before searching for Jed once more. Eddie had joined her out by the lake for a while and she’d talked things through with him and she knew now what she wanted to do. “Hey Jed,” she said, a smile touching her lips as she made her way over to him once again. “I’ve thought it through and I want to do this. It’s the best way to protect my family and I’d like to take you up on joining your pack too, if you’ll have me,” she said, her voice confident now that she’d weighed up all the pros and cons and knew what she wanted to do. I've become a bit of a mythology buff. Since I'm into a mythological guy that's, you know, buff.

– I freed myself from words never said –
Jed nodded his head in agreement with Summer because while it was terrifying at first and no doubt painful, it felt amazing afterwards. He really enjoyed the feeling of running in the woods and just being free. "It is." Jed agreed verbally with Summer, the edges of his lips rising in a small smile as he spoke. "Exactly. There's just no guarantee they'll be able to understand what happened and sometimes telling them about the supernatural world could shift their whole lives upside down, so it's not always a safe option." Jed understood why Summer felt like she couldn't talk to her friends, it was always really difficult and it didn't always end well. "The best part of being a part of the pack and being surrounded by other supernatural creatures is that you can talk to them without having to worry about them not understanding you or the fact that they're probably seconds away from thinking that you're crazy." Jed said with a brief chuckle falling from his lips not long after. "I get it, Summer, trust me. Once you've thought this through again after knowing all the pros and cons, you can be a part of this pack if that's what you really want." Jed promised. He just wanted her to think about it again and once she has made up her mind, he would be more than happy to help her wit whatever choice she chooses to make.
Jed nodded his head at Summer's words. "Of course, take your time." Jed offered back. "You know where to find me once you've made up your mind." Jed added a moment later. When she found him again, he had been expecting her to drop by. He smiled upon seeing her. "Hey, Summer." He greeted and turned to face her properly. Jed noticed how confident she sounded and now he knew for sure that she had thought it through. "Of course." Jed didn't put up any fights now and he even seemed pleased. "I would love nothing more than to have you as a part of my pack, Summer." Jed added, meaning every word. "Now the question is, where should we do this?" Jed looked around him for a moment. "I think the basement might be our best option. Gives us the needed privacy. Or, we can go to one of the empty dorm rooms, that way you have a place to relax and I can keep an eye on you for a bit just to make sure that your body's not refusing the bite. Up to you. Or, would you prefer to be with Eddie? It's up to you."

Even a few weeks ago, Summer had never thought that she would find herself making this decision. She had always known that her life wasn’t perfect, she had taken risks to make sure that her adoptive siblings had enough to eat and didn’t starve and she had wanted to fight her parents on the way they were being treated but she hadn’t been able to. She knew now that it was because she had been compelled not to but at the time it hadn’t made any sense to her. Now she knew the truth and she knew just how dangerous her parents were. They had almost killed Eddie and she knew that she wouldn’t be surprised if they were the real reason her older brother had died. She had no idea how many other people they had hurt and she knew that they needed to be stopped but it wasn’t a decision she was taking lightly, that was why she had wanted to talk to Jed first. Nodding as he agreed with her about it being incredible to be able to run free as a wolf, Summer could tell that Jed got where she was coming from as he continued speaking. “Exactly. I don’t know if any of them already know, they’ve never said anything about it but if they don’t then I don’t think I could be the one to tell them that the things that go bump in the night are actually real. In a way things were so much simpler before I knew about all of this, I can’t do that to them.” It sucked because it meant that she could never be honest with her friends about what had happened but she knew that it was the way it had to be. “I need people like that in my life,” Summer admitted as he explained about what it was like to be a part of a pack. She had her family and she knew that she could talk to them but the truth was that she was afraid to. Daniel had been there with her when she went to the police and Robbie had tried to stop their parents from killing Eddie. There were others among her siblings she knew she could trust but she wasn’t sure how much they had seen so she was hesitant about talking to them about it and making things worse for them. “Does everyone here know about our parents?” she asked, not sure whether that would mean that they would be looked down on. The pack had been there with Jed when he had helped them that day so they already knew but she wasn’t sure if others did too. “Thank you, that means a lot to me,” she admitted as Jed said that she could join the pack if she decided to become a werewolf. That sense of belonging was something that was missing from her life right now so she couldn’t deny that it was tempting. “Thank you, I’ll come find you when I’ve thought it over,” she nodded.
Summer had meant it when she had said that she would think it over and she took her time doing that. She knew that her whole world would change forever if she decided to become a werewolf but she needed to protect her family and for herself she needed to have people around her that she didn’t have to hide anything from. Becoming a werewolf could offer her both of those things. Summer felt much more confident now she had all of the facts and had been able to think things through and even Jed seemed pleased when she told him about her decision. “Thanks Jed, not just for that but for talking to me today. I needed to hear all of that,” she said, offering him a smile as she looked over at him. As Jed asked where they should do this, Summer’s expression turned thoughtful for a moment. “I think one of the dorm rooms would be good, if that’s okay. Like you said, I think it will help me relax,” she said, knowing that this was going to be stressful enough waiting to see whether her body would accept or reject the bite without adding anything else to the mix. “I’d like Eddie to be there but would you mind staying too? I don’t want him to be alone if my body rejects the bite and to be honest I feel safe with you.”JED SALTZMAN
