A purge? The fuck was a purge? It sounded like some bullshit motive to try and sell more tickets for Halloween. Hector explained the whole idea to Manny, but he wasn’t buying into it. If he wanted to shoot a man dead, he would. He didn’t need Hector telling him it was okay to do so. The man was starting to grate on Manny. Swanning around the club like he was untouchable. Manny could load up a gun with wooden bullets and it would be goodbye Hector but it would also be goodbye business deal. Manny would need to find somewhere else to hide his money and the town wasn’t full of dodgy businesses. He couldn’t pack up and move towns just yet anyway. Things were just starting to get exciting with Ricky also residing in the town. If he left now his brother would think Manny had something to run from. Something to hide. When it came to Ricky all his cards were on the table. He knew exactly what his little brother was up to and he knew it was Manny who killed their dad. There was no proof though. The authorities brushed their dad’s murder under the carpet, saying it was a member of a rival gang. They weren’t going to waste their time investigating it either. The cops knew better than to start meddling in business that could get them killed. The cops in Mystic Falls didn’t get that memo though. Hector told Manny that they had been sniffing around the club, trying to find something untoward. Even though he was against the Halloween idea he still dragged himself to the club early that evening, with a plan to leave before the front doors were locked. Bloodshed was his favourite thing to do, but he wasn’t one to murder random people for no reason whatsoever. Maybe if they were looking at him wrong or bumped into him without saying sorry, but he wasn’t going to unload his gun into a crowd of people. The crowd in the club was looking pretty tame so far anyway, but the staff downstairs were going to have the best night ever. Fangs and claws everywhere. His gaze eventually fell on a man standing on the other side of the bar. Manny couldn’t hear a word he was saying, but he looked pissed and he was directing his anger toward the bar staff. On the long list of things that riled him up, lack of manners ranked highly on there. He was a dangerous unhinged man, but at least was polite to people. Showed respect to everyone until they proved they no longer deserved it. Manolo grabbed his drink off the bar, making his way to the other male. “Hey. You. ” He called out he approached the bar, “Yeah you… you pedazo de basura.” He placed his drink down on the bar alongside the man, standing very close to the man. “Maybe your parents didn’t teach you manners when you were growing up… I think you owe the bar staff an apology before I smash my glass into your face.” He knocked back the rest of his drink before holding the glass up to the man’s face. It was his call. An apology to the man behind the bar or he’d be eating glass for the next hour. DOMINIC PHENDER - translation: piece of trash

━ don't fucking tell me what's impossible ━ THIS WAS AMY’S IDEA (AS MOST THINGS WERE). The only reason Dominic ever went out anymore was because of his little sister nagging him, though he figured it was more out of concern━pity━than anything else. Dominic was fine. Sure, he’d probably fucked up one of his only friendships ‘cause he got lonely and shit, but whatever, right? Who the fuck needed friends, anyway.
The bitches in Mystic Falls sure didn’t need an excuse to fuckin’ party. The club was always loud and shit, bugging him at all hours of the night from halfway across town. Yeah, it was Halloween, but so what? What did that change? Nothin’. Just meant everybody was wearin’ makeup and cheap clothes instead of only half of ‘em.
Dominic sighed as Amy flitted towards the dance floor, calling out her drink order as if they hadn’t done this a million times already. He’d nod, ignore her, and then when she came and got it her fuckin’ self, he’d order.
Heading towards the bar, he hesitated when he saw Kit, then pressed up against the edge to order. Whatever, Kit’s brother was gonna be his boss, and neither of them were Frank, so why should Dominic haveta act all weird about it? “Hey, man.” He puffed, accepting Kit’s upwards nod and replying with one of his own, “Rum and coke? Thanks,”
When the glass was served to him, Kit finally commented about Dominic’s lack of costume. There was a snort, a noncommittal shrug, and then Kit asked about the Grill. “Yeah, man, it’s just so fuckin’ hard to find any work in this God damn town that’s half decent. Like, no offence to your brother or nothin’, but I’m not pickin’ up shit after people.” He puffed and, since Kit seemed to have a strange lull in orders, Dominic went on, ranting passionately about stupid Mystic Falls, stupid customers, and the stupid Military School that got him here in the first place. “I know you’re a vet or whatever, man, but fuck all that.” He practically spat, his hands moving sharply to express his emotions. They were having a fine conversation, though, nothin’ too bad about it. And when Kit had to turn away to help someone else, Dominic puffed and waved his hand in the air. Though it was just another gesture trailing off the end of the story, it definitely looked like he was irritated that Kit had walked away. Y’know, to anyone else that might’ve been watchin’.
But Dominic didn’t think there was. Who the fuck would care? He was just lettin’ off steam with a dude he knew.
Draining half his cup, Dominic set it down as he was approached from the side. His head swivelled over, brows raising at the dude apparently talkin’ to him. “Huh? The fuck you want? I know you?” He puffed, dark brows coming together as the guy moved in close. He woulda thought this dude was comin’ onto him if the vibe wasn’t so ‘I’m gonna rock your shit’ (and not in a good way, obviously).
“What the fuck?” Dominic snapped, irritated by the miscommunication and the threat. Who the fuck did that shit? Well, he did, but he didn’t like when it came from someone else. “Are you fuckin’ stupid, man? You don’t know shit, just fuck off.” He grumbled, keeping their eyes locked, refusing to back down but also incredibly irritated by this unwelcome intervention. He woulda just hit the guy for botherin’ to even stick his nose in it, but Dominic wasn’t trynna make this night harder on Kit, nor was he gonna ruin Amy’s. Not right after they got there, at least.

Manolo was a walking, talking, breathing dream for a psychologist. They would be desperate to find his turning point from a well-behaved child, who cared deeply for his brother to a paranoid killer who hated his brother. It was truly fanaticising how a person could change so much. It would be something that would take years to get to the bottom of, not that Manny gave a shit. This was the person he was always meant to be, in spite of what Ricky thought about his little brother. The bouncer on the door made a cheerful joke about Manny’s lack of fancy dress, which landed badly with Manny, as always. The man quickly realised his error and offered an apology to Manny, but it was too late. He had already pushed past the employee, dreaming of shattering the man’s jaw on the way out later, although Hector wouldn’t be pleased Manny had chosen violence before that stupid siren sounded. The thought of having a sound controlling his actions unsettled him, like he wasn’t allowed to reach for his gun and fire at someone yet. Much like his dad would tell Manolo what he could and couldn’t do when he was growing up, not as if he was around to keep an eye on the boys. They were left to their own devices throughout childhood, with Ricky taking the lead naturally. He was the one there tucking Manny into bed every night and making sure there was an apple in Manny’s lunchbox the following morning before school. Things were peachy until Miguel decide to finally involve himself in Manny’s life and by involving himself that meant dragging Manny into the family business. It was alluring to a young boy. His dad was offering him a life of luxury with better wages than his shitty job at the store downtown. There was the smallest twitch in Manny’s left eye as he observed the others in the club. One of them could be Ricky, sliding into someone else skin to try and trick Manny into sharing his secrets. Even more reason to head home once he had finished his drink. Even the ill-mannered man at the bar could have been Ricky. He considered it for a moment. The stranger certainly look like the type of person to approach Manny for business, but it didn’t seem likely. The stranger was just an idiot who needed teaching a lesson. He gave the stranger a quick look up and down, “No. I don’t associate with assholes like you.” His grip was tight around the glass, ready to swipe at the stranger’s face. A pretty little scar across the man’s face would look good. Either way, the guy had balls, refusing to back down from Manny, proving Manny’s theory that the stranger was an idiot. “Don’t make me repeat myself… I hate having to repeat myself.” Hear the first time or face Manny’s anger. He’d taught his men to keep their ears open at all times because he refused to say things twice. He lifted his other hand up, wrapping it lightly around the man’s jaw. “If I smash this glass hard enough into your temple there’s a chance a shard of glass could break off and pierce your eye. Do you wanna risk that?” Maybe he would stay for the siren after all, that way he could eliminate the piece of shit standing in front of him without complaints from Hector and Luc. DOMINIC PHENDER

━ don't fucking tell me what's impossible ━ DOMINIC FELT LIKE SHIT ALWAYS FOLLOWED HIM wherever the fuck he went. Seriously, he had no fuckin’ choice in it. He could go to the club with his sister on Halloween, have a decent fuckin’ time, talk to a dude he knew, and still have some prick comin’ up to start a fight.
Seriously, what the fuck.
There was seemingly no fuckin’ rhyme or reason for it, either. One minute he was chattin’ to Kit, the next, some guy threatened to put a glass through his face. Seriously, was it him? Did he just attract this sorta thing? He knew his knuckles had words on them that were like a proclamation, but they didn’t say “fight me.” Pretty fuckin’ close to it, though.
Dominic scoffed. So he didn’t know this guy, and yet somehow Dominic was the asshole? Why? He didn’t do shit except for sleep and fuckin’ eat━and hopefully work soon━so he had no fuckin’ clue how he coulda pissed this dude off. Some guys were just lookin’ for a fight, though.
He hated repeating himself? Who the fuck did this dude think he was? Dominic’s lips peeled apart to snap at him, but suddenly the lower half of his jaw was restrained, caught in the stranger’s grip. “Are you fuckin’ crazy?” Dominic managed, blue eyes narrowed up at the guy.
His arms came up, and while one went down into the curve of the stranger’s inner arm to relieve his grip on Dom’s face, the other came up and swung, a fist heading toward his cheek.
“Fuck you, man!” He shouted, “I don’t fuckin’ know you, ain’t got shit t’do with you, so fuck off. It ain’t the fuckin’ night to pick a fight with me.” But he knew this would be the red flag to a bull, and soon a full-out brawl would begin. It’d been inevitable since the guy walked up to Dominic with a fuckin’ itch to scratch. And, yeah, maybe Dominic wasn’t too mad about gettin’ into a fight. It’d been a while.

Manny was constantly like a bull and everyone around him was red. He was ready to charge at anyone for the smallest thing, even something as little as smiling at him. Why the fuck were they smiling at him? Did they know something he didn’t? Were they sent by his enemies? It was a mystery as to where all his testosterone came from given he wasn’t like that as a child. He wasn’t rolling around in the playground bashing other children’s skulls into the ground. Something that would have upset his brother and there was a time in his life when he actually cared about Ricky’s feelings. Their mom would be turning in her grave if she saw the person Manny had shaped in, but also that Ricky hadn’t tried harder to drag his younger brother away from the family traditions. If the business didn’t land in Ricky’s lap then it was clear it would be passed down to Manny. It was at that moment the brothers should have both run, together, away from Miguel and all the shit that surrounded their family. But instead Ricky went off to become a cop, thinking that was the best way to bring his dad down. If Ricky had suggested they ran at the very start Manny would have willingly followed. The man at the bar was his target for the evening, Stocky build but standing smaller than Manny, not that he ever spent much time weighing up his victims before attacking. There was a stiff smirk that crept across his face as the stranger asked him if he was crazy. “Potentially.” Chopping off your own finger to mail to your brother did sound pretty crazy. Manny stumbled back slightly as the man’s fist made contact with his cheek. That smirk remained glued to his face though, “Is that all you got? I know girls who punch better than that.” If they were going to fight, at least they could make it bloody. Any night was the perfect night for a fight. He quickly stepped back forward, raising his right hand and smashing his fist into the stranger's jaw. “Let’s go!” He yelled as he grabbed the man collar of his t-shirt to yank him back upright before bringing his right fist up again, driving it down into the man’s face again. ━ don't fucking tell me what's impossible ━ AMY WAS GONNA HATE HIM FOR GETTIN’ THEM kicked out. Tough shit, though, ‘cause it really wasn’t his fault. Some people were just lookin’ for a fight, and this guy had that kinda face that asked to be punched. Seriously, though, what was he gonna do when some douche came up to poke and prod at ‘im? Walk away? Nah, Dominic wasn’t a p*ssy.
Plus, this guy grabbed his face. Dominic’s knuckles burned as they hit the stranger’s cheek, bones rocking together in a hard and clunky clatter. He was still smirking, egging Dominic on━he musta been crazy. Fuck. Dominic’s past didn’t necessarily suggest he was scared of that shit, though━usually headed directly into it.
Dominic gritted his teeth and moved in again, snapping an, “Oh yeah?” Ready to prove just how girly his punches were. The mouthy stranger was faster, though, and pain exploded from his jaw as the lower half of his face ran away from the top. Fuck.
He began to move with the punch, whirling sideways, though gravity was interrupted. Halted by the man’s hands on his shirt, fabric cutting into Dominic’s armpits, the shirt’s seams stretching and complaining, ready to rip at the added weight.
Another blow came before he could stop it.
Dominic wasn’t about to become a fucking ragdoll, though. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he heard shouting, onlookers spreading out and yelling, pointing their phones at the two. Focusing instead on finding the ground beneath his feet, Dominic fought past the dizziness and snatched the man’s wrists, centring himself with one, the other reaching out for a fistful of the guy’s shirt. “You ever get tired of hearin’ your own fuckin’ voice?” He grumbled, and spat a mouthful of blood directly in the man’s face.
It would be easy to go for the crotch, but Dominic wasn’t about to take such a cheap shot. He was better than that.
Using his hold on the man’s clothing, Dominic tugged him down and headbutted the guy━which didn’t help the dizziness, but at least he felt more in control━and brought a knee up to get him in the stomach, right hand dropping down to desperately swing for his sides, anything to immobilize him. Face shots got them dizzy, but he could only hit a guy so many times before his knuckles cracked. Dominic needed the upper hand here, otherwise he’d be in the fuckin’ hospital━and he’d be fucked.

The excitement was seering through his body as that punch landed on his face. Pure adrenaline kicked in, rushing through him along with whatever other substances he had been pumping into his body that day. He was like a feral animal, ready to eliminate his prey in front of the small crowd that was starting to form around them. He had to be quick though because the siren had yet to ring, so there were still rules in place, like the fact he couldn’t press a gun against this fucker’s temple. It felt like one-sided fight for a moment, which Manny didn’t appreciate. He wanted this piece of shit to fight back. Finally he grabbed hold of Manny’s shirt, steadying himself before he spat the fresh blood onto Manny’s cheek. He broke into a wide grin, almost manic. With his free hand, he reached up, casually wiping the blood from his face. “My voice is gonna be the last thing you hear.” The pain struck him as the stranger sent his head flying into Manny’s, then a knee to the stomach causing him to cough as the punches came soaring into his sides. The stranger’s top slipped out of his grip. He fought through being winded though, raising his right foot before kicking out into the man’s chest. Manny quickly stepped forward, directing his fist straight toward the man’s cheek. By the third hit, the stranger was on the floor, leaving Manny feeling triumphant, but he wasn’t finished there. He straightened up the collar on his shirt and carefully tugged at the hem. He wanted to look well presented as he finished this man off. Manny crouched down on top of the stranger, swinging relentlessly at the man’s face until another person pulled him off. It was Hector, barking orders at him to stop. DOMINIC PHENDER - the end
