Adelina knew that it wouldn’t be too much longer before her senior year came to an end and she would be lying if she said that she wasn’t worried about what would happen after that. She wasn’t sure what she wanted to do with her life right now and even though she knew that she was immortal and she had plenty of time to figure things out, the truth was that she wanted to get things right the first time around if she could. Adelina knew that she was going to be staying on at the university while she tried to work out what she wanted to do and she hoped that her friends would be sticking around as well. She knew that Elias was thinking of doing the same thing since he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do with his life either but the truth was that she hadn’t really talked to her friends about their future plans too much and she hadn’t talked to Landon about them either. He was someone who had become very important to her over the last few years and the truth was that she liked him but she knew that she shouldn’t. Adelina wasn’t good at letting people get too close to her and the truth was that she’d never been in a relationship so she had no idea what it would be like but in a way it was still nice knowing that someone had managed to break through her defences like that. Right now Adelina was just trying to take it one day at a time and do the best she could. That day she returned home and for once the house was quiet although a smile touched her lips as Milo came bounding over to her. “Hey Milo,” she beamed, dropping her school bag down by the counter before crouching down and scratching behind his ears. “Where is everybody?” she asked, her eyes scanning her surroundings and not seeing anyone. Picking up her bag she headed upstairs and left her bag in her room before doing a quick sweep of the house. It didn’t look like anyone was home, Gabriela and Elias had both decided to stay at school for a while longer and it didn’t look like either of her dads or her uncle were home yet either so she sat down at her desk with Milo sat beside her to keep her company and started working on the latest song she had been writing. Ethan had noticed that they were fridge was running a little low, so he decided to head to the nearest grocery store, promising Milo that he'll be home soon. The grocery store was only a five-minute walk from the house which was a big convenience for Ethan who didn't want to leave his young and adventurous pup alone in a house filled with things he shouldn't chew. The store didn't allow pups either, so he couldn't bring him along. He quickly made a list of all the things they were missing before he got dressed in just an orange shirt along with his sweatpants and sneakers. He grabbed his keys, wallet, and phone and headed outside, jogging the last couple of steps.
Fast forwarded about ten minutes later, he was heading home with a handful of groceries, enjoying the warm breeze. Summer was his favorite season, after all. So he was definitely quite happy that the weather was starting to get less gloomy and rainy. Those days always made him feel so sleepy and if someone knew Ethan well, they'd know that he was naturally someone who was brimming with energy at all times, always ready to move, and always hated it when he stayed in one place for too long which was why he struggled with staying at home for the longest time but it was starting to get easier. Maybe he was also comforted by the fact that he was going to be able to head to work in two weeks.
When he entered the house, he noticed the lack of a slobbery pup running toward him. He quirked an eyebrow and looked around him for a moment to see if he could spot the pup anywhere. Ethan made his way to the kitchen to place the grocery bags down. "Milo, I swear if you're chewing one of my plants again..." Ethan had decided to take gardening classes and it was paying off well because he could plant a few plants on his own without the help of any gardener but ever since Toni had brought Milo home, he had taken a strange liking in Ethan's plants and managed to chew one of them but thankfully, it was a plant that was non-toxic to dogs. He still took Milo to the vet just to be one hundred percent sure. He checked the backyard and hummed when he didn't find Milo there. He made his way upstairs and when he heard the telltale sound of Milo barking, he began following the sound and found that it was coming from Adelina's room and when he took a peek inside, he found Adelina sitting at her desk, working on something. "Oh, hey." He lifted his hand to glance at his watch. Oh, right, the school should be done by now. "How was school?" Ethan asked, grinning almost immediately when he finally managed to find Milo sitting on the floor next to Adelina's chair. Adorable. "I was doing a quick grocery run.' Ethan explained, his eyes relaxing on Adelina once again. "I'm not interrupting anything, am I?"

Adelina had been a little worried about starting over at first when her dad had told her and Gabriela that they were dragons and that they had both been given a place at the Salvatore School. He had said that dragons were rare and to start with she’d ended up getting a few strange looks from some of the other students, probably because they had never met anyone like her before, but in the end she had found her place and that was something that she really was glad about. She had gained more friends than she had ever thought that she would while she was there and if she was honest she had developed a bit of a crush on someone as well. That at least was something that she was keeping to herself for now though because she knew that her dads would both end up getting quite protective of her and truthfully she didn’t expect it to come to anything so she knew that it would be better to keep it to herself. She knew there was no way he would ever feel the same way so it didn’t seem worth talking about it. Instead she knew that she wanted to distract herself from the fact that the end of her senior year was fast approaching. She already knew that she was going to stay on at the university and she hoped that her friends would as well but only time would tell. Right now she just wanted to try and make it through the rest of the year in one piece. In a way she knew that she was quite lucky compared to some of her friends, after all Raf had become a hybrid after he was killed because his name was on the hitlist that had made its way around town and Landon had died when his brother had lost control. Hope, Josie, Jed and Ben hadn’t escaped unscathed that year either, all of them had died but thankfully they were all back where they belonged now and seeing what her friends had gone through was enough to make her realise just how precious life was. Nothing in life was guaranteed, Adelina was immortal but she could still be killed so she knew that she wanted to make the most of every moment while she could. Adelina had thought that Ethan might be home when she got there considering he was under orders to stay home while he “recovered” from the incident at work where he’d ended up getting injured, but the house was empty when she got there. Fortunately she still had Milo for company, though, and she tried out the lines of the song she was working on with him, a laugh escaping her as he barked when she finished. “Does that mean you like it?” she grinned, reaching over and scratching behind his ears once more. Looking up at the sound of a familiar voice, Adelina’s smile widened. “Hey dad,” she said as she looked up at him. “Pretty good actually although I can’t wait for the summer to have a bit of a rest,” she admitted. Adelina didn’t doubt that she would find something to keep herself busy that summer but she knew that she wanted to have some time to relax as well. “You’re not interrupting at all, Milo was just giving his input on my new song,” she assured him. “How has your day been?” she asked, knowing that he had to be itching to get back to work by now. "Oh, I bet. You guys have been studying hard this year. But don't worry, summer will be here before you know it." Ethan assured her in a soft voice as he leaned his shoulder against the doorframe. "Oh, speaking of which," Ethan clasped his hands together. "Do you have any plans for summer yet?" He asked, his curiosity visible in the tone of his voice. For their break, he wanted the kids to go out with their friends, and to have the time of their lives, away from all the books and all the stress.
A soft chuckle fell from Ethan's lips at Adelina's words. "Oh, I see, I see. Well, he definitely deserves a reward for that, doesn't he?" Ethan cooed at Milo, reaching out to gently pat his head. "What a good pup you are." He retracted his hand not long after as he straightened up again. "So I take it you're making good progress on your song?"
Adelina's question made him release a soft hum as his shoulders lifted and dropped into a quick. "Pretty well. I've just been doing things that can keep me busy, I guess." Ethan said with a half-smile resting on his lips. Ethan missed work. He missed working with his team, he missed feelin like he was making a difference in the world. But, he knew that he needed to keep his supernatural status hidden from his teammates and if he goes back to work too soon, they'll start asking questions and Ethan was never a skilled liar, especially not when it came to lying to his friends. Well, they were like a second family to him. So, he knew that staying at home was the safest bet for now. Just like his earlier advice to Adelina, time will pass quickly and he'll back to work before he knows it. He just needs to wait.

“I know, I can’t wait,” Adelina admitted as her dad said that summer would be there before she knew it. “It is a little strange whenever I think about graduating though, it all seems to have gone so quickly,” she added. Adelina had no idea that she and Gabriela had been aged up by the spell that had affected other kids around the town and neither did anyone in their lives, they were blissfully in the dark and it was sure to stay that way. Even so it still felt like the last few years had flown by and just the thought of leaving high school behind was enough to make her feel a little nostalgic but at least she wasn’t going to have to go very far for college since she had already decided to stay on at the Salvatore College and Ela, Elias and their friends. As her dad asked if she had any plans for the summer yet, Adelina shook her head. “Not yet, I haven’t really thought about it too much,” she admitted. “Is there any chance we could take a family holiday even if it is only for a week or something?” she asked, knowing that she wanted to make sure that she got to spend some time with her family as well as her friends. “He definitely does, he’s such a good boy,” Adelina said, a fond smile forming on her face as she looked down at Milo and scratched behind his ears for a minute before looking back at her dad again. “Yeah I am, I really like it so far,” she nodded. “I can’t wait until it’s finished so I can play it for you guys.” Adelina had always been somewhat of a perfectionist when it came to her music and that hadn’t changed, she liked knowing that a song was just right before letting anyone hear it, even her family. As her dad said he had just been doing things to keep him busy, she nodded. “That makes sense, I know you like having something to do,” she admitted. That was why her dad had bought him Milo after all, he had wanted Ethan to have something to do and training a dog was a pretty good distraction. “We love having you around here but I know you miss work. How long until you can go back?” she asked, hoping for his sake that it wouldn’t be too long. She knew that her dad keeping his distance from work was for the best considering that he was meant to be recovering even though his body had long since healed but she knew that it couldn’t be easy for him.
