She refused to lose faith. Even when she’d walked around the town a hundred times, circling the same streets and buildings over and over again. Baxter had to be somewhere. Meanwhile, Pierre was doing the same thing at Whitmore college. She assumed he was compelling those troubling students to spill the truth about their son. There were tears forming in her eyes as she did the same loop again. They’d even started to post leaflets through people’s doors, but nothing pinned to the lamp-posts yet. Another text message sent to Baxter, but they were no longer going through. She walked in and out of businesses again just in case their son had been inside in the meantime. It was clear some of the business owners were getting frustrated with Lena, but they wouldn’t dare say anything. A stone cold look on her face as they watched her walk around again. One person tried to explain to her that she couldn’t keep coming into the bar every hour to ask the customer if they’d seen Baxter. She didn’t reply, instead she glared at them until they backed away. The same look she gave to Pierre when he used to come into her bakery and touch all her freshly baked goods. Pierre didn’t back off though, he waved back and gave her a goofy smile. She wouldn’t listen to anyone who tried to tell her what she could and couldn’t do. This was her son and she would burn the bar to the ground if she thought it would give her some answer. Her husband would be alongside her giving her the fuel. The couple wouldn’t rest until they found Baxter safe and well. From across the road, she spotted some kind of law enforcement, only assumed that due to his shiny badge. They agreed to keep the police out of this, but what if they knew something. Maybe they’d already found Baxter. Maybe he was lying in a morgue labelled as “Joe Bloggs” because he had no ID on him. Quickly she pushed that thought from her head, wiping the fresh tears from her face. She took a deep breath as she marched across the road, a car slamming on its brakes to avoid hitting her. There was a loud beep, but Lena didn’t acknowledge the driver. “Are you police?” She stepped up on the sidewalk, stopping directly in front of the male. TOMAS SILVA

━ and the night sky would be jealous of the stars in your eyes━
When Tomas first joined the police force here in Mystic Falls, he thought that a small town like this wouldn’t have a lot of cases to work on. He thought that his daily tasks would be limited and repetitive, but boy was he wrong. Tomas’ eyes were opened to a whole new world after Diego told him that he was a Kitsune and now, he knew that the supernatural existed and that seemed to open his eyes to a whole lotta things. Like, for example, whenever someone brought up an animal attack, he’d know deep down that it was far from an animal. He knew better now. But he still couldn’t stop those attacks from happening, he still couldn’t prevent people from dying and that part sucked the most.
So many innocent lives taken by some monsters that strive on pain and grief.
It worried Tomas quite a lot, especially because his sister was missing and he was worried that one day, her file would come into work and it would reveal that she was a victim of those animal attacks. It pushed Tomas to look for her harder and thankfully, he wasn’t the only one looking for her anymore. He had help now.
Tomas’ day was going rather slow, but it was far from uneventful. He was currently walking down the streets of Mystic Falls on his break. He knew there was a coffee shop nearby and it should definitely be more than enough to quench the thirst that he felt, though he came to a stop when he heard loud horns and when he turned his head, there was a woman recklessly crossing the street without looking at the cars which made Tomas’ eyes widen as he moved close to where she was, but he stopped when he realized that she was heading his way, too. “Ma’am, are you okay–” Tomas’ question was halted when he heard her ask if he was the police. “Yes, ma’am. I am.” Tomas answered with a quick nod of his head as his eyes worriedly searched her face. She… looked like she had been crying, which only worried Tomas even more. “Are you okay? Are you in any sort of danger?”

It wasn’t that she disliked law enforcement, but she didn’t trust them. When Mako was killed back in 1850 the police didn’t really do a lot about it, leaving Lena to take matters into her own hands. She wasn’t an idiot though and was aware that times had changed since then, but she still struggled to shake how she felt towards them. They basically brushed her aside even though it was glaringly obvious that Mako had been killed by the local men. They were Americans though and no action was going to be taken against them for killing a Chinese man. This wasn’t about her or her past experiences, this was about Baxter and she was willing to put her trust in law enforcement if it meant her son would be found. Maybe he had been taken by humans and could easily be tracked by the cops, but there was doubt in her mind. A human would have stood a chance against Baxter. A vampire with an army of doctors though? Possibly. At times though she felt helpless. At least Pierre could compel people to tell them the truth. All she could was threaten people, which worked on a few students at Whitmore. It was unwise of them to stand between two parents and their missing son. That is what she would tell them when she had them pinned up against a wall. She was prepared to get violent if it meant Baxter would be returned safely to her. She had zero concern for the driver that was veering toward her. The car had brakes, they could stop for her. Lena wasn’t losing sight of this man with the shiny badge, her gaze focused on him as she stormed across the road. She didn’t want to come across too bullish, so she tried to soften her features as she drew closer. He was the police. “No.” She said sharply, as she pulled a poster from one of many she was holding in her hand. She handed it to the male. “My son. He not come home for a few days.” A white lie. It had been months, but she didn’t want to go down that road with the police. “Have you seen him?” She paused, swallowing harshly, “Please sir. If you found my son, please tell me.” There was desperation laced in her tone as she spoke. TOMAS SILVA

Tomas’ concerned eyes remained fixed on the woman in front of him, his eyes quickly scanning her face to see if he could see a hint of a bruise on her skin or anything that would give away that she was in immediate danger but he couldn’t detect much. Tomas’ head tilted slightly to the side when she held out a poster to him. He reached out almost immediately to take it from her hold and soon enough, his eyes were relaxing on the missing person’s poster which so happened to be the woman’s son. “Oh.” Tomas breathed out, his brows tugged together in a small frown. He had been through a similar situation himself, so he understood the woman’s concern almost right away. “I’m really sorry but I haven’t seen him,” Tomas revealed a moment later.
“I’d remember him if I saw him in our station. Can you tell me when you last saw him?” Tomas asked, his curiosity visible in the tone of his voice, his eyes moving away from the poster to look at the woman. “Of course, if I find him, I’ll tell you right away. If you would like, I can help you spread out those posters. I know someone at the fire station who can share the posters with the firefighters and the medics there. We’ll make sure this poster gets around. I’ll keep an eye out for him as well, I promise you that.” Tomas promised, knowing that his words barely meant anything right now, so he knew he was going to have to show the woman that he was going to try his hardest to help her find her son. “Can you tell me your name?” Tomas asked, his eyes still focused on the other lady. "My name is Tomas." He pressed his hand against his chest as he introduced himself. "This isn't an interrogation, by the way. Please don't worry. I know the badge and everything can be intimidating but I'm here to help you, I promise."

Her heart sank when he told her he hadn’t seen Baxter. A town full of people yet her son had varnished into mid-air and not a single person knew anything about it. It was a fact she was struggling to comprehend. Pierre had compelled the students at Whitmore, but he wasn’t here to do the same with the police officer. Compelling the students wasn’t risky, but trying to do the same to law enforcement could have some serious backlash. If Pierre was standing alongside her there was a chance he wouldn’t have considered the repercussions before grabbing the man and demanding the truth from him. It was difficult to be reasonable when Baxter had been missing for so long. Difficult to take no as an answer when people ask if they have seen their son. Nonetheless, the man had no reason to lie to her, but the gleaming badge was the only promise of that. Unless Mal had got to him first. She couldn’t allow herself to fall down that hole, where she gets swept up in her hatred for Mal. She needed to stay focused. Mal could wait until after Baxter was found safe and alive. After that, she could set herself on the path to destroying the backstabbing vampire. Her very last memory of Baxter was still fresh in her mind. Pierre and she waved their son off as he loaded the car up to head to Whitmore College. He was excited about starting college, as was Pierre, but Lena was filled with concern. Nonetheless, she stood alongside her husband and bid farewell to Baxter. She had been told by Pierre their son was old enough to make his own decisions. “A few weeks ago I came to see him… usually he call me but I receive no phone calls recently.” No matter what Baxter would always pick the phone up to call his parents on a regular basis, so when those phone calls suddenly stopped she knew something was wrong. She shuffled through a few of the posters, handing them over to the officer. “Thank you, sir.” The posters she had put up around town probably went unnoticed by most of the locals. Another kid was lost in the town with many others. “Lena Baudelaire… my son is Baxter Baudelaire.” Her eyes fell on the badge for a second, before returning to Tomas. “Sometimes they say children run away but not my son.” If he wanted to do that he would have done it over a hundred years ago.
