BLACK ROSES RED (with Aurora de Martel)
Perhaps there were pieces of this town beginning to grow on her. Rose wasn't admit that she liked Mystic Falls yet but she would concede that there were certain aspects that made it much more enjoyable. Case in point: the boy she currently had in her clutches. He hadn't seen it coming --- much like most of the people in Mystic Falls. They seemed to go about their daily lives wholly unaffected by the fact that vampires were among them. Mostly because they didn't actually know despite the fact that there were numerous so called animal attacks. Rose was convinced that you had to work hard to be this oblivious.
"I need you to do me a little favor," she purred, reaching up to stroke a finger along his cheek. She probably could have elicited said favor without compulsion given the way he had looked at her when they first crossed paths but this was just a time saver. She didn't want to spend her time needless flirting in hopes of getting what she wanted. Not when there was a much easier way. "I need you to follow a man named Remzi Durmaz. But don't get too close or make it obvious. He won't like having a shadow. At the end of each day just give me a little update or call me if something serious happens. Do you think that you can pull it off?" He gave her a wordless nod and she broke out into a smile. Rose used the palm of her hand now to give his face a pat, as if he were some pet of hers. "I knew I could count on you. Now run along..."
With him out of sight, she turned and found herself face to face with another red head. She gave a little start, clearly caught off guard. Not exactly a position she enjoyed being in. Forcing a smile on her face, she wondered how much the other woman had heard (better yet: how much she had understood?). She forced a smile on her shoulders and shrugged her shoulders. "Boys --- you wink at them and they are putty in your hands, right?" Surely the beautiful creature before her would understand such things.

Her mind had been spiralling recently, which wasn’t partially uncommon for Aurora but all the same, it wasn’t ideal. This image of the world she had built up in her head was being shattered and she was clambering around trying to fit all the pieces back together. First of all, Tristan disappeared to deal with important business. It wasn’t normal for him to leave her in a town, alone, especially with the original family so close by. It had her watching her back more than ever, convinced he had someone spying on her. Then there was the whole deal with Klaus not knowing about what Elijah did. For over a thousand years he had been under the impression it was her all along. He had hated her all this time, whilst she was loving him deeply. Then there was Hope who was claiming her father had never spoken about her and she had no idea who Aurora was. That last part hurt the most. Even if Klaus had hated her all this time, surely he would have mentioned her to his daughter. Aurora De Martel. His first love, the object of his art, a woman he once desired above everything else. Of course she didn’t believe Hope, probably just saying it to upset Aurora, but it worked. Then there was Damien. Once she found herself on that slippery slope of self-doubt it was difficult to get off. She found herself second-guessing him. Did he really care about her? Or was he just using her to relive the good old days he had once with his brother? That high she was riding at Halloween had come crashing down around her, hard. A walk to clear her head. That’s what the humans did when they felt like this. Thankfully the streets were empty, otherwise, one wrong move from a human would have them dead. The streets were so quiet that she found herself watching a couple on the sidewalk up ahead. A redhead stroked the male’s face softly. Maybe that could be her and Damien one day if she stopped sabotaging her relationships. Curiosity got the better of her, as she focused her hearing on their conversation. It wasn’t full of love and affection as she expected, more like the redhead was ordering the male what to do. Aurora was quiet to approach the girl, stepping back a fraction as the other female spun around. “They are flexuous things” She agreed, with a nod. “Why are you having him follow someone called Remzi Durmaz? An ex-boyfriend I presume?”ROSE DAVENPORT

BLACK ROSES RED (with Aurora de Martel)
Rose felt a bit reckless of late. First there was the incident with the body at the club. Now being caught nearly red handed compelling someone. She was not a newbie vampire. She knew better. She knew to keep her business quiet. Sometimes she wondered if it was simply because she did not care but that was not the full story. She might not feel the empathy that others clung to but she did know a thing or two about self preservation and lately she had not been exercising it.
She blamed Remzi --- his very existence had thrown her off kilter. It was time that she took back her composure.
She started with giving her fellow red head a smile. "Something like that --- a bit of my past that is causing a problem for me now," she bemoaned with a hint of a frown. "I know I shouldn't resort to underhanded ways to get one over on him but he isn't playing fair at the moment." She sighed now, her eyes fluttering close for a moment. She was glad that her back had been turned when she compelled the poor boy into his new profession as spy because she didn't quite know how she would explain such a thing to the other woman.
"I sincerely hope that you never find yourself in a similar situation. Ex's..." She pressed her lips together and then shook her head. "...there is a reason why they should stay in the past, right? But they never like to stay where they belong." She wondered if that was enough to sell the story she had just created in her head. Or maybe it was too much. She had never been any good at lying in the long run. She was used to just doing what she wanted instead.

A short laugh rolled out of Aurora. She’d spent centuries trying to outrun her past, but it was near impossible. Everything seemed to be clinging to her, no matter where she went. Whether it be disappearing in Greece in 1439 or being locked up with the monks in South East Asia. The only way she could shake it was by abandoning her brother, which she would never do. “Needs must.” She responded with a shrug. Aurora would probably resort to similar ways. Exes. The mere word almost had her rolling her eyes in despair, although she couldn’t exactly relate to the woman’s words. She had been the one who refused to stay in the past, desperately trying to make her way into Klaus’ present life with Tristan holding her back time and time again. Telling his younger sister that whatever relationship she and Klaus had was toxic. She was better off without the hybrid, but it was something that didn’t register for centuries. At least not until recently. Until she met Damien. A man who knew how to treat a noblewoman such as herself. “They do have a terrible habit of crawling back into your life when you least expect it.” She had a handful of lovers over the years, but most of them were put down by Tristan, just like he tried to put Lucien down. A simple act that spiralled into where they were now. “Has this ex of yours upset you? Or is it just a nuisance?” Or both, she wondered. “A good friend of yours then.” She nodded towards the other male who had disappeared around the corner, “He seemed happy to help.” Doe-eyed as he wandered off down the street without any further questions. BLACK ROSES RED (with Aurora de Martel)
Rose appreciated the sense of understanding she was getting from the other woman. Her fellow redhead might not know the full extent of Rose's meddling but somehow she figured she would understand and even cheer her own. "Exactly, sometimes you just have to do what you have to do," she said firmly. She would tell herself that going forward as well, refusing to concede that she could just let sleeping dogs lie. In truth, Remzi's action had little baring on who she was or what she did. Based on her experience, vampires did not stick around to coddle 'their young'. They just tended to leave them to learn it all on their own. She shouldn't worry about him --- and she wasn't even sure if she was calling it worry. More like a big distraction from the very real problems she was facing (she had never been this close to her home before).
So, sorry, Remzi, you will have to put up with Rose meddling.
"Like a bad penny," she agreed with a scoff. She was sure that Remzi was saying something similar about her but in all fairness, she was there first. He was just int he wrong place at the wrong time. "He's...well, he's acting like a real ass. Driven by his instincts. He hit on me within minutes of seeing me again." Rose made a face, not really wanting to dwell on that but she had to have some explanation as to why she had sent her little minion off to spy on him. "I just have this feeling it will get worse before it gets better. Hence my attempt at reconnaissance. I am lucky enough to have a friend that will help. No questions asked." Because she had compelled him not to of course.
"Maybe it is nothing but better safe than sorry, right?" Rose gave an easy shrug of her shoulders, her red curls bouncing as she did so. "You can't be too careful...not when it comes to ex's."

The only ex that was probably still alive and well was Klaus. He was no doubt going to remain that way until the very end of time. It would have been impossible for her to send someone to spy on her. A suicide mission for the chosen person. Maybe when she arrived in Mystic Falls she would have considered sending someone off to follow the hybrid to see what he was up to, but what was the point. It was a job she’d rather have done herself, but now she found herself less and less concerned about what her first love was up to, accepting the idea that she may have eventually cut herself free from him. Those few strings still attached would snap soon. Klaus didn’t ‘hit on’ her when their paths eventually crossed again instead he was furious to see her. His brother’s lies had yet to force their way to the surface, leaving Aurora to spill the news. It filled her with joy telling Klaus that his brother had been lying to him all this time. “He hit on you and you have no desire to rekindle your connection yet you want someone to follow him and report back?” As though this woman wasn’t ready to shake off her ex fully. “Perhaps it would be better to just leave him to his own devices?” Though she had no room to judge considering she was the type of person to throw everything away for a significant other, even her mortality. Damien hadn’t pushed her that far yet. “It sounds like you bear some responsibility for this man's actions.” As if the original family bore the same responsibility for everything that happened after turning the trio. “Aurora De Martel” She introduced herself with a small bow, “And you?”ROSE DAVENPORT

BLACK ROSES RED (with Aurora de Martel)
Rose realized that the simplified lens in which she was trying to cast her current predicament through did leave room for a lot of questions. Especially when it came to having Remzi following. She simply wanted to know what the vampire she had accidentally created had gotten up to --- but telling that to a complete stranger was not an option. You just never knew who you were talking to in this town --- everyone from a human (who would scream and think she was crazy) to a hunter (who would make life difficult for her).
"No desire. It was a disaster the first time around, trust me." What was supposed to be a simple 'drink and memory wipe' had turned into this mess. She would have never complained about the time she had spent with him. He had been handsome, he had been a good kisser and most importantly, he had tasted good. However, that was where it was supposed to end. How was she supposed to know that he would be clumsy and get himself killed? "It would be simpler if I thought he would just wander off to the past where he belongs but I just have a feeling that I will end up having to deal with him. So I want to know my options. I want to be prepared. Nothing wrong with that?" It sounded as if she were trying to justify her actions, which she supposed she was. She could have just bypassed Mystic Falls all together on her way to her true destination but focusing on Remzi gave her an excuse to avoid the memories that were threatening to overtake her.
Rose's face showed a moment of surprise and then agreement at Aurora's assessment of the situation. She chewed on her bottom lip. "Maybe I do. I feel like I may have unleashed a monster --- and I want to fix my mistake. Nothing wrong with trying to fix things right?" Justifying her actions, the last line of defense. Especially when she was just as much a monster as him. "Rose Davenport. It's nice to meet you, Aurora. Beautiful name by the way."

Even though her own mind had been invaded over a thousand years ago Aurora still used her compulsion on others and usually for her own benefit, but that was different. She wasn’t forcing these people to live for a century as someone else, outrunning someone who had zero qualms with them, to begin with. A disaster was a perfect way to describe Aurora’s love life. Any man that dared to step into her path had to face her brother first and they always failed to get past him, leaving her feeling lonely. She yearned so badly to be loved by a significant other, but Tristain forbade it. However, Damien was lucky when he met her as her brother was out of town. There were no barriers for him to overcome. She was there for the taking. No protective sibling ready to unleash violence. Perhaps his need for revenge was stronger than the need to keep his sister under a watchful eye. It had been a while since he left her and yet nothing drastic had happened. She had yet to do anything reckless to drive her brother back to town just proving her argument that she was perfectly capable of looking after herself or maybe it was because Damien was nearby. Someone to balance her out and keep her from diving into the deep end. “They do say exes are exes for a reason.” She’d overheard a human say that last week in the grill as she was comforting her friend about a break up. The only reason Klaus was her ex was because Elijah forced that upon her. Without the interference of Elijah, the two could have lived happily ever after, just how she envisaged. “No. Nothing wrong with that at all.” Aurora responded with a small smile. She felt like the other woman was trying to justify her actions in some way. Aurora was the last person she needed to justify herself to. The same woman who slashed open the throats of several Monks because of a letter she received from Tristain. She cocked her head to one side slightly for a second as she listened to Rose. Unleashing a monster into the world was certainly an interesting choice of words. “Course not, but this man is responsible for his own behaviour. You are not. If he wishes to act like a fool then let him.” Words she wished her brother had listened to in the past when he insisted Aurora needed to be locked away for her own sake. “Why thank you. Nice to meet your acquaintance, Rose.” She gave a small nod to Rose, “It has been a pleasure speaking with you Rose, but I must go and get some breakfast.” As if the cheap croissants in the bakery nearby would be enough to satisfy her, but it was something. Again, she gave Rose a small nod before walking past her and towards the bakery ROSE DAVENPORT - the end!
