| Mandy eventually had taken her brother up on the offer of a part time job. A little way to earn cash, while learning and living at the Whitmore campus. Sometimes she had to do a little more to earn her hourly rate than just stack shelves and sort out deliveries. Though today that is all she was doing. It wasn’t as though she needed a lot of training in that regard, Reid’s learn how to catalogue antiques and magical doo dads before they could walk. Exaggeration aside, she had helped out a lot in her parents’ shop.
” Yeah, Nicky not to worry. Not gonna burn the place down. See you later.” Mandy told him for what felt like the second time when he rang to see if his shop was still standing. With a chuckle she hung up her cell phone putting it back in her pocket and went about busying herself with work again, putting the harmless antiques out on display first, before moving onto the stuff with a little more power to them.
Cleaning the shelves first behind the counter before handling this stuff with a little bit extra care. Particularly since her magic could be a little sporadic, after all she was still learning. Sometimes even the simplest spells of hers could go awry, but then she could pull off something that no one would expect her to. Life was funny that way. Lifting a mirror imbued with magic to aid in divination she placed it front and centre on the shelves with smaller trinkets and talismans of power around it.
Lifting one talisman into her hand she admired it for a moment, feeling an odd sense of connection with it, feeling some sort of power emanating from it. The next moment she felt some of that power rush through her and some flames burst forth on the counter, ” Oh. shit…” Mandy gasped as she knocked fiery cloth into an empty metal bin allowing it to burn out, ” Stores still safe… not to worry Nicky…” She laughed to herself.
She heard the familiar jingle jangle of the doorbell announcing that someone coming into the store. Lifting the fiery bin and putting it out the back so it wouldn’t be seen, all the while slipping the talisman into her pocket, she went back outside into the main part of the store to greet the ‘customer.’ Smiling as she came back round the counter, ”’Ello. Let me know if you need anything…” She greeted brightly.

BLINDSIDED (WITH MANDY REID)
After his talk with Aurora, there was a sense that a noose was tightening around him. He didn't quite understand why but he surmised it was there for the same reason it was before: family. He had to do what he could to protect his family and if the Strix were lurking around in the background, he would have to take action. He knew that Elijah's creation was a formidable foe, bringing with it a whole hidden network of vampires and their allies. Then there was the power, the raw power of the witches of the Strix.
He wanted to something to counter that.
As soon as Elijah had mentioned it during one of their brief conversations while Klaus was in Europe, he had set about trying to do just that. Now that he was back in Mystic Falls and had laid eyes on one of the de Martel's the urge had grown. He had been scouting, trying to find the best of the best.
One such witch was within these walls. He stepped inside, already feeling power curl around him. It was raw and potent. And recent. When he heard her voice, it was not what he had expected. He had expected Cassie and yet he found himself facing an unfamiliar face. Admittedly, he stopped in his tracks, feeling his plans crumble around him.
But not fully.
Klaus gave himself a moment, his eyes on the young woman. That intoxicating mix was still pulling him forward (although he had to admit there was a very real burnt taste to it; was that smoke?). If it had not been Cassie, than it had to be her. Before he could think it through, he was grinning. Sometimes things work out in mysterious ways. He would not waste a moment like this.
"Yes, I am hoping that you can help me," he began as he began to close the space between them. She was a small thing but she was still a witch. He had to be mindful of that. His intentions were to contain but not maim. He needed her very much alive. "I am looking for something to help protect my daughter. A charm perhaps..." He inched closer. "Do you think you could show me something?"

❝ Somewhere Over The Rainbow... Skies Are Blue❞
She had promised her brother that she wouldn’t burn the shop down, and that is what she intended to do. Setting that cloth on fire had been a mistake. A small pulse of power had a cloth burning. A mistake. Getting the cloth quickly into a small metal bin and moving it out the back allowing it to burn out. Shouldn’t take too long. As she returned to the main part of the store she heard the doorbell above the door jingle, announcing someone’s arrival.
Calling out a welcome and offered help if they needed anything. She busied herself with what she had been doing before, cleaning and reorganising shelves. Making them a bit more appealing to the eye, might drive up sales… Out the corner of her eye she saw the potential customer getting closer to the counter and she turned to look at him asking again, ” Can I help you?” She asked politely.
When he agreed that he wanted help she stopped what she was doing and turned to face him. To give him undivided attention. When he requested a charm for his daughter she nodded. Knowing they definitely had some, ” Sure!” Mandy stated brightly. Reaching under the counter for the keys, to access some of the enchanted charms, ” We have a few different styles of charm to suit either gender or age.” She explained.
Once she found the keys, juggling them in her hand until she got what she thought was the right one and turned around to open the cupboard behind her, under the shelves she had just been cleaning. Trying what she thought was the right key she sighed when it wouldn’t turn, ” For goodness’ sake Nicky you need to label these bloody keys…” She muttered to herself out loud as she tried a second before achieving luck on the third key, ” Bingo. Third time lucky as they say.” Mandy announced. Opening the cupboard she reached for the tray of charms that he had requested, standing back up straight.

BLINDSIDED (WITH MANDY REID)
She appeared meek, docile but he knew better than to judge her solely by the demeanor she was giving off at the moment. In his experience, witches were crafty, not to be underestimated. She might dutifully be moving to fulfill his wish but he knew that she could turn on him if he was not careful.
Part of him wanted to be careless just to see what it provoked.
In the end, Klaus was reserved (well as reserved as he could be given his temperament). He allowed her to busy herself with finding the charms, smiling a little as she seemed to bumble her way through the task. All the while he was reaching out, sensing the space around them. He soon discovered the only heartbeats in the building were hers and his own. They would not be disturbed going forward. Good. This was quickly becoming a crime of opportunity. He would rather not have to make a mess to make it happen.
When she finally had achieved the goal he had set for her, he moved quickly to stand right behind her so that his form filled her gaze when she turned. Her power was still very evident and he knew he was walking a fine line. He was hoping that to use the power of intimidation to keep her from causing chaos but if that did not work, he would resort to the one language he had learned at a young age and had become a master in over the centuries: violence.
"Do you know who I am?" he asked, his tone firm with the beginning hints of his strength showing through. "Most do although maybe not by sight. Usually I just have to mention a name --- Klaus Mikaelson. Have you heard of it?" He gave her a tight smile. "Because I think I have an offer for you. This will only be on the table for a short period of time so I hope you will think quickly. I am looking for a witch, someone with innate power that can be coaxed into something great. I think I am looking at such a witch. Now the question becomes: do you come without incident or will I be forced to show you why I have such a damning reputation?"

❝ Somewhere Over The Rainbow... Skies Are Blue❞
Silently cursing her brother to label his keys she tried a few in the lock before finally getting it right on the third go. Delving into the cupboard and reached for their tray of protection charms. Already spelled, she was assuming by Nicky… hence why they were kept locked away. Most people, regular humans who had no real power, but believed in it, sometimes came in asking for things. Something could have power, just by believing in something and that could be powerful enough sometimes.
Once the tray was out of the cupboard she stood and turned and visibly jumped backward when the customer was suddenly on the wrong side of the counter. Thankfully managed to keep the tray, and her pyrokinetic magic in check, ” Usually the customers stay on the other side of the counter…” She told him though almost instantly regretted it when she heard his next words and more specifically his tone.
Trying to put a little bit of distance between them before she resorted to using her magic. Though her blood seemed to run cold when he heard his name, ” I might have…” Mandy reluctantly confirmed… the history ran in vampire and witch circles. The original vampire family were once connected to magic after all. They weren’t to be messed with and Mandy knew she was in mega trouble.
She took a few steps back to try and put a little bit of distance between them. Though the space behind the counter wasn’t exactly that big and she was quickly bumping into a countertop. Reaching slowly behind her into the back pocket, her fingertips touching the talisman. At that she felt that familiar rush of power and she reached out with her power, unleashing the best aneurysm spell she could manage. Picturing the vessels in his brain contracting, exploding, the blood flowing through it like boiling lava, ” I’d rather not…” Mandy muttered and then made a break for it. Pushing herself up and over the glass counter and made a break for the door.

BLINDSIDED (WITH MANDY REID)
He could see the change come over as she realized just what how much danger she was in. He could hardly contain his gleeful smile but he managed not to show his teeth. There was no sense in terrifying her beyond belief. He just wanted her to properly scared so that he might take this encounter to the next step (and its inevitable end). He could hear her heart beating and he found himself focusing on that. There would be power in her blood, immense and all consuming should he think to take a taste.
But he held back --- after all she was much more useful to him alive.
As predicted, she lashed out, throwing a familiar spell his way. He gritted his teeth immediately, the pain immense but not insurmountable. "I know this one," he told her confidently as he pushed through the reality of his very mind being under attack. It was moving to heal itself just as quickly as she moved to destroy. "Effective but not my favorite. You can do better than that. You will do better than that." It was a promise. She was about to become something greater than she was now.
They just had to get over this particular hump.
Klaus dove after her retreating form, showing little care to their surroundings. Items crashed to the floor and he proved to be quicker despite the damage that she had done. He wrapped his arms around her waist, effortlessly plucking her off the ground. "I could subdue you with a bite. Hardly pleasant but I will do it. Unless you learn to behave."

❝ Somewhere Over The Rainbow... Skies Are Blue❞
It was one thing to know about the Mikaelsons, though to actually be confronted by one, and the most dangerous was an entirely different story. What he wanted with her she didn’t know and she definitely didn’t want to find out. She conjured the power, the power flowing to her, through her, muttering the words for the most powerful aneurysm spell that she knew. She heard it was particularly effective on vampires… though had no idea how it would hold up against one of the originals.
Using the momentary incapacitation, she had caused, and wasted no time in going around the counter. Going over it was just as easy. Grateful then for physical education classes in school and her slender frame made hopping over the counter that much easier, and mercifully the counter not buckling under her weight. Run… a few more steps and you’re out of the door and you can get help… She thought to herself. Ignoring his taunts about her spell. Shit… he was recovered already.
She reached out for the door handle, her fingers brushing it, just as she felt his arm snake around her waist and lift her off the ground, ” Let go, damn it.” She cursed at him, trying to wriggle herself free. She couldn’t fathom why he wanted her; she was just an English nobody. Sure, she wasn’t lacking in power, but she wasn’t a witch wonder.
One last ditch effort… Summoning her power again. Roaring through her like fire… exactly what she wanted. Summoning the element that always seemed to come to her so easily. Flames burst forth seemingly from nowhere. She concentrated them on him, hoping this would be enough, for him to lose his grip. Doing this bought back memories of when she burned the siren alive. Protecting herself from the white-hot flames, she could feel the heat, but they didn’t touch her. She just hoped it was enough.
Notes: Finish with yours?

BLINDSIDED (WITH MANDY REID)
He refused to deterred. It was not in his nature. When he wanted something, he simply took it. It was unfortunate for her that he had narrowed his focus to her but he had no choice. He needed to protect his family and did not have the time to woo her as he had witches in the past. He had once been good at such things, luring powerful beings to stand beside him but he felt the real danger of harm coming to his daughter breathing down his neck. For that reason alone, he refused to ask nicely.
Klaus was glad that she was not going down without a fight. He wanted that raw power, that spark that would help him achieve his ends. He had no idea that the Reid witch would prove to be a literal spark but he was soon witnessing it first hand.
And feeling it.
He roared in pain as the flames licked at him. He knew it was marring his skin and he gritted his teeth against the pain. She was seemingly immune to it, yet another positive in his mind even if currently was the subject of its wrath. She wanted her freedom but he was not going to give it to her.
"I warned you," he spit out before using force to render her unconscious. Thankfully the flames died away soon after and he found himself slumping to the floor with her still in his arms. He peered down at the tiny creature, marveling at how much she was able to do. She might not have won her battle with him but few did. She had, however, inflicted damage and now he gave himself a moment to heal.
Then he was standing again, carefully cradling his prize and spiriting her away to join his army.
