The grand reopening of the museum, but Hazel had never even attended the museum prior to this so she couldn’t tell the difference. There was certainly a fresh lick of paint on the walls though, and the ceiling looked fresh. She wasn’t really there through choice though, rather dragged along by the school. A big school day out. It made her cringe, but she couldn’t say no. Her parents were keen for her to go along and find out more about the history of Mystic Falls. As she strolled through the front doors of the museum she wondered what history would be contained inside. She doubted there would be any mention of banshees or psychics. There had been many countless nights of sleep since her parents’ revelation. Shadows moving in the dark or light tapping on her window (which was always the tree branch outside). The stories in the newspapers were true, to an extent. There was something sinister lurking in the town and now Hazel was a part of it. God, she’d tried so hard to forget what her parents told her. She wanted no part of whatever world she apparently belonged to. She was happy being a normal 16 year old student, learning about things she’d never use again (who needed algebra?). The inside was bigger than she expected and it wasn’t just history about Mystic Falls as she anticipated. There were like a million floors. She lingered in the entrance for a few minutes, as the teachers announced they were free to explore the downstairs until their tour guide arrived. Hazel’s eyes burned from the lack of sleep and no doubt a monotoned tour guide’s voice would send her straight off to dreamland. At least there was a section on dinosaurs and insects. That sparked some interest in her. Hazel strolled away from the group of students as she opened up the map in her hand. Ugh, no cafe in the building. No coffee. Nothing to keep her awake for the next few hours. She wandered across the ground floor, spotting one of the sections that was cordoned off. Egyptian history. That sounded way cooler than American history. Hazel watched as a blonde approached one of the guards, a conversation taking place between them before they started to walk over the Egyptian section. In a hurry, she walked forward towards the two, “Hey! Is this bit open? Can I go inside?” Her question was thrown at the pair, unsure if the blonde also worked in the museum as well. HARMONY

━ watch me make them bow ━ SHE WASN’T DOING VIKTOR any favours. That wasn’t what was happening here━Harmony simply wanted to make sure she had a safe way out of here when the time came, and Viktor would only grow stronger if he had more betas under his belt. She was not part of his pack, though. First of all, Harmony wasn’t a dog, and second of all, she wouldn’t be with him for long. It was just how this went━her lifestyle━and he should’ve felt privileged she had even stuck around for this long.
The museum was full of artifacts she could get her sticky, little fingers on, shit full of magic and, most of all, value. If it could keep them on their feet for a little while, then she had no trouble infecting one of the guards━or the entire staff, for that matter━to get what she wanted.
Slipping in the front doors, she headed directly to where she wasn’t supposed to be. A security member near the velvet rope stopped her, his gruff voice tunnelling out, telling her that this section was closed. “Oh,” Harmony purred, already dialling it up to one hundred, leaning forward with a hand on his chest. He only looked surprised for a moment before he was suddenly relaxing, looking sated and grinning from ear to ear. “You can make an exception, can’t you? I just wanna take a peek. You can even come in with me, if you want…” Clearly alluding to something, the guard broke easily, nodding in a giddy fashion and glancing around before slipping past the rope, his hand at Harmony’s lower back to lead her down the hallway.
‘Hey! Is this bit open? Can I go inside?’
They didn’t get far before a squeaky, feminine voice piped out from a little ways away, causing both to turn and find the source. This man wasn’t likely to be anything special, but young girls had a knack for getting swept under the wing of an older woman, and though Harmony didn’t look much older, she did her best to appear otherwise. She would interrupt the siren’s lunch, but Harmony was betting on something greater than a snack.
“No, hey, look, we shouldn’t be doing this. We all need to go back━”
Clearly, the security guard had lost his nerve. He needed a stronger link, and if she wasn’t going to consume him physically, then this was the next best thing. “Hush, baby,” Harmony cut him off, leaning in to kiss him, infecting the guard with her venom without any hesitation. “There.” He looked totally enraptured by her now, his arms snaking around Harmony’s waist, desperate to touch her anywhere he could. She gave him a rough elbow to the chest and a command, “Stop touching me.” And he listened like a well-trained pup, even taking a step away and hanging his head.
“Sorry about that.” She said to the girl, sighing and flicking her hair over her shoulder as if ridding herself of him. Extending a hand, she opened and closed her fist a few times, beckoning her over with it outstretched. “C’mere, sweetie. We’re not supposed to be here…” Lowering her voice, as if sharing a secret with the girl, Harmony grinned, “... but it looks really interesting, right? If you promise not to get us in trouble, you can come check it out with me.”

She was just a typical teenager who wanted to sit in bed and scroll through social media for hours and hours, not stand in a museum waiting to be taught something she’d forget in a few hours. Hazel only retained information that was useful, not things like what year the Cold War happened. She cared about things like her friends, clothes and boys. The last bit was a fleeting thought, knowing if she brought a boy home anytime soon her mom wouldn’t be happy. It wasn’t her dad that had to get past, it was her mom. Apparently, she wasn’t allowed any boyfriends until she was 18 but then again her mom told her she wasn’t allowed to wear makeup until she was 18 either. Yet here she was with a face of foundation and mascara. If she could find a way to bend the rules she would. Plus if Hazel brought home someone really really nice how could her mom say no? There were none of them floating around the school. She looked, but all the boys at school were just so immature. They all acted as if they were five-year-olds in kindergarten. Maybe she needed an older guy. Not ridiculously old of course, just maybe two years or so. Then there would be no way she could take them home to meet her parents. The thought made her shudder. There was a bounce in her step as she made her way over to the pair, excited to go inside and see whatever was closed off to the public. Immediately she sighed, annoyed that the security guard wasn’t about to let her inside. How boring. She was about to turn away and head back to her friends when the blonde gave the security guard a peck, convincing him to let them both inside. Was this how women were supposed to flirt? Peck on the cheek and some silky voice would get her anywhere in life? If only she had a notepad to make notes. Hazel was very intrigued, even more so when the woman pushed the other man away and he actually listened to her. Wow, this woman was so cool. “No… no it’s fine” She looked back at the guard who didn’t even seem fazed that the two were going into this restricted section. She quickly hurried along after the blonde, adrenaline pumping through her veins along with sheer excitement. “Of course not” She promised, following the woman into the unknown, “How did you do that? Like, how did you get that man to listen to you?” She paused for a moment, “Can you teach me how to flirt?” Because she was hopeless at that type of thing. HARMONY

━ watch me make them bow ━ HARMONY NORMALLY WORKED ALONE, but Mystic Falls was changing a lot about her (unfortunately). Bringing the girl along wouldn’t necessarily stave off the security guard’s sudden interest, but at least she’d have someone to speak to that wasn’t trying to pledge his eternal servitude. Feeding on his energy was what she needed, and the rest she got from Viktor━without… the sort of meaty snacks that would provide long-term sustenance. And Harmony was tired of being around dudes all the time. Viktor fucking drained her with all his whining.
Laying her hand on the girl’s arm as soon as she was close enough, Harmony led her into the restricted area, in step with each other. Once the three of them had dipped in far enough, she dropped her hold on the girl and laughed softly, glancing at the security guard over her other shoulder. “Lots of practice and good technique.”
‘Can you teach me how to flirt?’
Harmony grinned wide, glancing sideways at the girl again. Could she teach someone how to flirt? If anybody could, Harmony wasn’t the one to give out lessons. She’d probably be the worst teacher imaginable. “Hmm,” She considered, “Flirting is sort of like art; you either have the gift, or you don’t. But you can always work on it.” Adding the last part so as to not dissuade the girl, she shrugged lightly━it came to her naturally, so she’d never had to think about it. “You just have to have a lot of confidence. Know you’re the hottest girl he’s ever seen; don’t act like it. But… be friendly, y’know? Figure out what seems most natural to you━tease him a little bit, or ask him about his interests. People like being paid attention to.” If Harmony didn’t have predisposed abilities and a body to die for, she figured that’s what she’d do.
“Sometimes, I’m just flat-out mean. Guys love that.” Snickering, she slowly led the little herd towards a display case, holding elegant golden jewellery laid out flat, fit for a queen to wear all over her body. Harmony sighed wistfully, “That’s gorgeous. I’d kill for something like that.” She considered asking the security guard to grab it for her, but Harmony doubted the Little Miss would keep that secret.
“You here on a class trip or something?” Harmony would bet high school, not a senior. She looked too much like a baby, though it wasn’t as if the siren had stayed long enough to experience what that year was like.

How long did the teacher say they had? Ugh, Hazel couldn’t remember. She knew she shouldn’t have been disappearing off into a restricted section with someone she’d just met but this woman seemed nice and friendly. It wasn’t like it was a creepy old man offering her sweets out the back of a van. Her mom told her to never accept the sweet but punch the man in the balls. The security guard seemed to follow the pair, but whatever. Hazel had never really had the chance to practice flirting. How did you even practice? Would she need to find some male friend to help her? There wasn’t even anyone at school she fancied. All the boys seemed so immature and laughed at stupid things. There were a few who caught her eye in the year above, but it was probably because they were seniors and they seemed so cool and old. They would never speak to her though, viewing her as a young junior. She nodded slowly, though not really following what the other woman was saying. “So, you gotta know you're hot, but don’t act like you're hot and be friendly and engaging?” It seemed like a lot to remember. She had the last parts down, but the other two seemed a bit of a stretch. She didn’t lack confidence, but it wasn’t exactly confident in the fact she was hot. She’d never walk around school like she was a model, but would happily speak with a stranger. That type of confidence and definitely not the sort the blonde was talking about. She nibbled her lower lip, thinking the advice over in her head. Again, Hazel could be straight to the point, but not like that. The stranger probably didn’t struggle because she looked so womanly, with her curves and that. Hazel was still ‘growing into’ her body, according to her mom. She followed her through the section, the security guard lingering behind like a lost puppy. It was weird that he wasn’t even speaking to them. They stopped at a display cabinet, “Oh wow! I bet that’s worth a lot of money” Her eyes fixed on the gold necklace that lay beyond the glass, “Hopefully one day I’ll meet a nice man who’ll buy me something like that” One day a man would decide that she was worth spending that much money on. Hazel moved away from the glass, checking out the other exhibits in the area. “Yeah, um, senior year class trip” A little lie wouldn’t hurt and she’d put a bit of makeup on that morning. “Are you with anyone?” She glanced back at the woman, “I’m Hazel by the way!” HARMONY

━ watch me make them bow ━ WAS SHE EVER THIS clueless growing up? Harmony didn’t think so; as soon as her abilities kicked in, it’d been effortless to attract men. Her stories from high school would’ve blown this kid’s tiny little mind, but it was a little too early for those just yet. Y’know, if they ever saw each other again, which Harmony seriously doubted as she did not have friends. The only person she came in repeated contact with was Viktor, and she was about ready to claw his eyes out at the best of times.
“No,” Harmony snorted, trying not to be too mean, though she couldn’t exactly help herself. It was just funny. “I meant don’t act like you’re hot, know it. You’re not pretending, ‘cause you know you’re the hottest bitch in the room.” Finally, she shrugged, “Be friendly if you wanna be friendly. It’ll probably work for you; you’ve already got the nice part down.” Was that… a compliment? Too sincere for Harmony’s liking, but she cleared her throat and continued walking as if it hadn’t happened. Whatever, if she was nice, the teenie bopper would stick around and be more likely to be of use.
Gazing at the body jewellery, almost in a trance, Harmony nodded slowly at the girl’s comment. Worth a lot, sure━but it would look beautiful on her. Heavy, maybe, with multiple gold pieces laying over her hips, around her middle and on her chest, but damn if it wouldn’t be worth it. She’d look like a fucking goddess.
“Nice is overrated.” She muttered, still staring intently through the glass. “Just make sure he has a lot of cash. You can put up with anything if he’s rich.” But look at her; she’d gone from hanging off the arms of rich and powerful men to living in a motel with a man who grew fur every month.
‘Yeah, um, senior year class trip.’
Finally pulling her focus from the glass, Harmony turned to the girl and raised her brows, disbelief written over her features. Okay, so maybe she just had a baby face; Harmony couldn’t exactly blame her for that. “Other than him?” She motioned over her shoulder at the security guard. “No.” And then she leaned in, lowering her voice in a stage whisper, “Left the other one at home.” Harmony winked, giving the girl a playful nudge before leaning back again. “Hazel, huh? Pretty name. I’m Harmony,” Which was undoubtedly much prettier than the girl’s grandma-name. The siren slipped her arm into Hazel’s anyway, leading her along through the rest of the exhibit.
“Soooo, Hazel, any cute boys in your class or what?” Was that how you… God, she’d been away from women so long she’d forgotten how ‘girl talk’ typically played out. “Speaking of, you’re not gonna get in trouble being here with me, are you? Or are you just the rebellious type?” She was teasing her, obviously, because this girl didn’t seem at all like someone to disregard rules on a regular basis, but perhaps she knew how to have fun every once in a while━which was all it took for Harmony to get her claws in and change the course of things.

She didn’t exactly want a boyfriend right now, but one day the opportunity may arise. She wanted to be prepared and ready. She wanted to know what to say and how to make a boy fancy her. Hazel had read some of those trashy articles online like ‘How to secure your dream man in just seven days.’, but everything they told her to do seemed so cringy. Like pretending to be interested in his favourite sport or angle her body towards him whilst he was talking. It all just seemed a bit much, and frankly quite overwhelming. It was easy for this amazingly beautiful woman to tell Hazel to act like she was the hottest bitch in the room. The blonde probably had no problems with that but Hazel’s confidence was somewhat lacking in that department. Too busy comparing herself to those influencers on Instagram. She knew it was all for show, but it didn’t stop her from scrolling the images endlessly. “Aw, thank you.” She responded with a beaming smile. A hot bitch who is also nice? Apparently, she had one part down but needed to work on the rest. Her eyes were fixated on the expensive piece of jewellery that lay beyond the glass. Wow. So there was another added layer. She needed to find someone who had a lot of cash, which would be hard to find on the grounds of Mystic Falls high. They were all teenagers asking their parents for pocket money, just like Hazel. Begging her mom to buy her a new jacket, even though it looked like all her other jackets in her closest. At least to her mom it did. To Hazel, it obviously didn’t. “Target the rich ones.” She said with a confident nod. It would be many years before she found someone who made their own money. Her eyes followed the other woman’s motion, looking at the security guard. She really thought he would have said something by now, but his eyes looked glasses over. Probably drunk or something. “Back at you!” Soon Harmony’s arm was linked into hers, she tugged Hazel along to the rest of the exhibit. She felt so cool making friends with awesome women. She let out a low groan at Harmony’s question as she rolled her eyes, “There’s a few but they’re all into the cheerleaders and to be honest they seem really immature. Like the type who thinks fart jokes are funny.” She screwed up her face in disgust. “Ummm…” She wasn’t going to get in trouble for wandering off from the group, but maybe for wandering into a restricted area, “Nah.” Maybe. Hazel continued strolling through the rest of the exhibit, telling Harmony all about the cute but silly boys in her school. She felt a buzz in her phone and she pulled her cellphone out. “Damn. I gotta go. They’re starting the tour now.” She looked up at Harmony, pushing her phone back into her jean pocket, “So nice to meet you! Hopefully, I’ll see you around.” She flashed Harmony one last smile before disappearing back towards the exit of the exhibit, “Thank you.” She spoke to the security guard as she moved past him. He still hadn’t said much. Weird. HARMONY - the end
