Welcome to Mystic Falls, a picturesque little town in the heart of central Virginia. Established in 1860, this quaint looking town holds a dark secret. It's home to the supernatural, creatures and beings of myth and legends have lived here since the towns founding. Blending in amongst the humans all this time, something else about this town seems to draw in creatures from the outside world as well. Though for reasons unknown the secret has been kept for centuries, little do the residents of this town know that their neighbor could be a vampire, werewolf, witch or something else entirely.
Not everyone is deceived by the secrets or whatever magic protects this town, hunters from across the country travel here in search of answers to rumors they hear on the road. Something is happening that even the residents of Mystic Falls aren't aware of. There's something in the air, a change is on the horizon, and it's going to take every tooth and nail to survive it.
