til now. Fire and heartache had seared Katja's entire life. As the daughter of a dragon revered by a Peruvian village as a Goddess there'd never been much chance of normality but it was the death of her father at the hands of a hunter who had come to kill her mother that took Katja's life down that spiral. Hidden in the middle of Lima by her mother and the Order of the Goddess she hated that she had to hide what they were. The sooner she could get out the better and the moment she flew back to the village to do that, someone gave her a chance to. Katja had no clue then what sort of a situation she would end up in. On a mission with one of the teams she translated for, Katja finds herself in over her head. While most of her team are slaughtered, Katja finds herself captured and tortured for over a year before her mother frees her. Half broken, Katja returned home to Lima to train with the Order and recover. While there she is hired on by another team, of Mercenaries this time. Sent by that team to Mystic Falls Katja is going to discover that she was not the only one broken by war.
friends. Her team. They were friends and family to her but with their end that crumbled. Katja has the Order back in Lima but in Mystic Falls the only people she is close to are those she brushed up against in the military camps - Kit, who has shared more than friendship, and Frank. It's hard to get past the fire she breathes with her hot head attitude but once you do you'll see that Katja is as fierce and loyal a friend as you could ever ask for.
enemies. Honestly, where does it end? The man who killed her father in front of her is top of the list. Followed by those who took her, who tortured her for a year. Her mother took care of most of them but perhaps not all. She just hopes it won't come back to bite her on the ass again.
family. It started with a desperate young man, Joao, and a dragon who was revered as a Goddess, Copacati. The child was raised between them but when Joao was killed by a hunter hired by the very mercenaries Copacati had scared away from the village it was down to just her to raise her child alone. The Order of the Goddess, those who had worshiped her maternal lineage for centuries helped but truly the only biological family Katja had was her mother. Once she enlisted the teams she worked with almost took the place of Copacati for her, although, thanks to the hunter, her last team was slaughtered too. Now Katja is trying to find another for herself in Mystic Falls. Surrounded by men who have seen the same horrors, maybe she has a chance to.
lovers. Katja was certainly no nun. She's never been in a seriously relationship but it doesn't mean there haven't been men in and out of her life. Surrounded by men in her teams she could've indulged but business and pleasure were always kept separate, to an extent. There were times, brief snatches of time where she found someone to connect with in those camps - like Kit - but they were always moving on and those sort of ties were left behind. If someone were to come into her life now things could quite easily be different. If they could handle the heat that was.
