━ i don't know where i'm going, but i sure know where i've been ━ WAS SHE A BAR FLY NOW? Did her frequent trips mean she would be confined to this life forever? A sad old lady sitting with her drink, thinking she was still hot enough to catch the attention of all the young men. God, was she destined to be a cougar? That would fucking suck.
But she kept toying with the only idiot she wanted to date seriously, hoping he’d get bored and leave at some point and save them both from that inevitable future. The one where she had to end it because she kept lying, or where he’d find out who she was and look at her with disgust. Roxxi wanted to see Chase with a bunch of different expressions on his face, but that wasn’t one of them.
And even if he didn’t find out she was an Agnelli, he’d eventually catch wind that she slept with his brother.
Roxxi wondered what her father would think of her now. Smart and fucking brainless, probably. That’s how she’d describe herself. But life was a never-ending tornado of shit, and she wanted to unwind for once without getting into some sticky situation. It seemed like everything took a nosedive after she met Chase, and it didn’t stop fucking going down. She made a pact with herself tonight. There was no way she would fuck it up. Roxxi was going to have fun if it killed her.
She even bought the cutie at the bar a drink. He had a babyface, not at all what she was usually interested in, but maybe that was her problem━she kept going for guys that were all rough and tough on the outside and got screwed by it. Chase, Mikey, Mal, Frank. Each one of them looked like they could play some action star in a movie, but this guy? He looked like the kid off of one of Chase’s Batman comics. Ugh, what was his name? The one in Christmas colours━she remembered him sticking out like a sore thumb on a comic cover in Kitschy Kitschy Coo, an exploded paint factory next to Batman's black on grey on more black. Robin. Yeah, that was it. The fact alone that she could remember some irrelevant sidekick pissed her off even more━stupid Chase Buckley and his stupid nerdy ass hobbies.
Roxxi moved in beside him a little more forcefully than she should’ve, though it was hard to come across like some dainty, delicate flower when that couldn’t be any further from the truth. She appeared as if she was supposed to be there, at his side, putting the bottles on the counter before she dragged the stool closer and hopped up on it. “Hey,” Roxxi beamed, pushing one of the beers a few inches towards him. “I’m Roxanne. Oh━yeah, right, okay━before we start, you’re not gay, right?” Brows raised, she leaned sideways into the bar, body wholly turned in his direction. She’d said something similar to the fox at the blacklight party, but it seemed like a good thing to get out of the way right at the beginning. “Or have a girlfriend? Either way, that’s cool; I just don’t want to suggest we start doing body shots and then find out later you’re not even into girls. Which sounds random, but it happened to me the other day, and with a colleague, so even worse. But I’m pretty sure you don’t work with me.” Roxxi laughed, letting her mouth run on before her brain could put up a wall or even remind her that she needed to breathe. “You do kinda look familiar, though. Come here often?” She could joke that it wasn’t a line, but at this point, it was pretty obvious where she wanted this to go.

━ our worst day is where we start from, where we rise from━
BEING back state side was surreal to say the least. After spending the majority of his life overseas, being back in the states didn't sit right with him, not like it used to. Granted he had been back for a little over two years now, but even with all that time that had passed, it still felt empty, full of regret. Everyone had the same problems, but with him, it was way more than that. Every single night he relived that fateful night. The one mission that changed him forever. It was supposed to be a quick in and out, a surveillance mission at most. Intel came in and they were to get as much information as they could, and then leave. That was it, simple and easy. He had done tons of these types of missions before no problem. Except, this particular mission didn't go as planned.
The absolute unexpected happened. Dick and his fellow soldiers were ambushed, enemies coming from all over. Dick managed to make it out after pulling some of his fellow soldiers to safety, but not before losing all but one of them in the process. Dick tried his damndest to save them all, but by the time he had pulled them out of harm's way... all but one had all succumbed to their wounds. All but one. He was only able to save the one. One. That's it. All the faces of the soldiers who didn't make it were burned into his mind. Their faces when they breathed their last breath were a permanent imprint in his mind and no amount of sleep, therapy, or medications would remove them. He would have to live with his failure for the rest of his life.
After that fateful day, he was never the same. What was going to be an easy in and out turned into something much worse and he couldn't help but feel as though it was a set up. Something didn't sit right with him and he would live with that for the rest of his life. That failed mission had rocked him hard and he knew the only sensible thing to do, the one thing that would keep him sane, was to leave and never look back. He couldn't even look himself in the mirror after that day. Dick Prescott had enough. He was given medals for his bravery on that mission, but he didn't see it that way. After that last mission, he was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps. With that, he left, heading back to the states and never looked back.
It had been two years or so since he was discharged from the military, since he had moved back into his childhood home in Mystic Falls. It wasn’t an easy decision to return to the town to which held so much pain and guilt inside of him, but it was familiar and he knew that if there was any place his brother would hopefully return to… it was Mystic Falls. Having not seen his little brother since their father's funeral put that much more weight upon his shoulders. He should have protected his baby brother better, should have believed him, but he hadn't, and now he was reaping the consequences.
Either way, he had to live with the fact he had pushed his brother away and could only hope he would show up. But he wasn't holding his breath considering how his brother was. After a long day at work Dick decided to relax at the bar, drink a few beers to unwind and then head home. Home being the childhood home that he had been left in his name. It wasn't much, but then again Dick didn't need much to live off of. Small and simple was how he preferred things. It made life easier that way. That and the military had taught him the necessity of simplicity. The less he carried on him, the better, especially in combat situations and even though he wasn't in a combat situation currently, old habits die hard.
Taking a sip out of his drink, Dick watched as a brunette moved in beside him, setting her drink and another down in front of them as she turned to look at him, moving her chair closer to him, as if she had been there the entire time. Forward, much? He thought to himself as she introduced herself before promptly asking if he were gay or not. This was new, well, not really, being hit on wasn't exactly a foreign concept to Dick. Normally he would be all for it, but tonight wasn't one of those nights, but he'd be polite. Dick chuckled as she asked if he was gay. "Nope, definitely not gay and don't have a girlfriend either." He said, rather amused as he took another swig out of his beer before setting it down onto the table. "Name's Dick," he said introducing himself just as she continued talking. Wow she could talk a lot to someone she had literally just met. He bet she did that often, ramble onto various tangents.
'You do kinda look familiar, though. Come here often?' Damn this chick was forward and while he appreciated the effort on her part, he definitely was not in the mood to go home with anyone, no matter how gorgeous. What a cheesy line though to use, but giving with how forward she had been he hadn't expected anything different. Although, now that she mentioned it, she did kinda look familiar. Dick studied her face carefully, now thinking that he actually had met this chick before but he couldn't put his finger on it... but then it dawned on him. "No fucking way," he said setting his drink down onto the bar as he looked at Roxanne, who back then had went by Roxxi and suddenly it all clicked for him. A nickname for Roxanne was Roxxi and he only knew of one Roxxi. "Roxxi? As in highschool trip to New Orleans, Roxxi?" He asked, wondering if his assumptions were actually correct. There's no way this could be the same Roxxi he had met years ago, could it?

━ i don't know where i'm going, but i sure know where i've been ━ ROXXI’S FIRST IMPRESSION WAS that he was kind of… quiet, but she didn’t consider the fact that she wasn’t stopping to breathe, let alone pausing long enough for him to get a word in. That was fine; he didn’t have to be a talker anyway; she could do enough for the both of them. And, if he wasn’t chatty, that left less room for him to say something stupid and become a major turnoff. Fun. If she couldn’t ruin it, this guy sure as hell wasn’t allowed to, either.
Propping her beer-holding arm up on the bar, Roxxi finally let it come up to her lips, taking a long swig━there, now he had enough time. Enough time to lay some good news on her. She was beaming by the time her glass hit the counter again, one knee knocking against his playfully. “Well phew. That’s some good luck, huh?” Apparently, you never knew with guys nowadays. The soft one was straight, and the action hero was gay. Confused the hell out of Roxxi, who didn’t exactly have an American upbringing even after moving here, but that was all on her. Something she had to get used to, and, as she’d said before, it wouldn’t have mattered either way. She just wanted to know how strong to come onto him.
‘Name's Dick,’
Ah, she was nearly thirty, but she still giggled. Just couldn’t help it before the sound was bubbling out from her chest, teeth appearing from underneath full lips as she grinned. She wasn’t embarrassed by it, and if he got offended, well, then he probably wasn’t worth her time anyway. Roxxi had chosen Dick as her target for tonight, but he wasn’t the only one in the bar. It was still early enough that she could move on.
And she usually had a little more game than using that line, but he did look familiar. Only a little, like she’d come across him a few times and hadn’t paid much attention, so Roxxi didn’t bother lingering on it for long. If he wanted to think it was a line, then so be it, and who knew, maybe it would work.
‘No fucking way,’
Her brows shot up, waiting for him to continue, wondering what she’d said that had him reacting like that. But then he revealed it, and suddenly it was as if he’d dumped a bucket of cold water on her. Dick. Yeah, she’d snickered at his name the last time, too, but they were in high school. It felt like forever ago.
Another face from her past popping up in a bar was a little concerning, but at least this time he wasn’t someone actively involved with her family’s shit. No, Dick had been her friend, all Roxxi’s, and she never had to share━even stole him from his ‘New Orleans Buddy,’ too. Practically adopted Dick for the week, dragging him to all good shit she claimed he just had to see, becoming one of those pairs that just seemed like they were meant to be friends. Plus, Dick was actually from Mystic Falls, so while she’d come here to get away from life there, it was technically his territory.
“Porca troia,” Roxxi breathed, more taken aback than anything, dark eyes blown wide. And, before she knew it, she was jumping off her stool and bounding forward, arms thrown around his shoulders. “Holy shit, I can’t believe this. It’s been forever.” Roxxi squeezed him just as hard as the last time, when they had to say goodbye, promising to keep in touch. But she left her old life behind in New Orleans, which meant cutting herself off from anybody within it━or so she thought.
Though her excitement didn’t come without cost. She had no way of controlling these new abilities, and they sparked up whenever they pleased━literally. Now, with her excitement, she shot a jolt into Dick, releasing a small yelp of surprise afterwards. Probably a few volts higher than static, but what else could she say? ‘Sorry, forgot I’m a walking fuse box now’?
“Whoops, sorry, shocked you.” Roxxi swallowed, praying he didn’t think anything of it. “How are you?” She pulled away just enough to aim that smile at his face, fingers still grasped firmly around his biceps. “It’s been, what, ten years? No, more. You could still pass for a high schooler, though. Asshole.” She teased, tears welling up in those big, brown eyes while she admired him, hoping that at least one of them had a good time in the intervening years.
Translation: Holy shit.

━ our worst day is where we start from, where we rise from━
UPON hearing his name he heard the girl giggle like she was in middle school, prompting him to roll his eyes in response as he took a swig out of his beer. To be honest, Dick was used to it. Sure, he could have gone by his full name, but where was the fun in that? He had always gone by Dick and had to ensure the countless amounts of Dick jokes as a result. He had quite literally heard them all, so her giggling at his name was honestly kinda expected considering their interaction up to this point. "Yeah yeah, my name is Dick. Get it all out now." He said in almost a teasing manner. He honestly didn't care if people laughed like they were in middle school in regard to his name, he was used to it. Plus, given how this girl had been thus far he expected the bubbly laugh that escaped her lips and if he were being real honest with. himself, it was cute as hell.
But like his life had always been, one full of surprises, this particular surprise was welcomed, unlike most others. Seeing Roxxi again after all these years was a welcome surprise, one he had most definitely had never expected. Why she was in Mystic Falls of all places was beyond him, but he wasn't complaining. Seeing a friendly face was something he desperately needed considered he spent most nights alone in the solitude of his apartment. Roxxi was one of those people he could never shake off, especially back when they had first met in highschool. That was a school trip he actually loved, one that he always remembered and it was because of one dark haired, dark eyed girl.
He remembered it like it was yesterday. Dick had been partnered with some random guy from New Orleans, someone his teacher referred to ads his 'New Orleans Buddy,' what a joke that concept was. They were in highschool, not elementary school. He remembered thinking that he was gonna ditch his lame ass buddy and do this trip on his own, but then she promptly adopted him as her own buddy and the two instantly connected. It was like they had always known one another, she made the entire trip fun. She dragged him to all the good places, ones that weren't on the trip itinerary. The two had an absolute blast and it was like they were always meant to be friends, honestly she made the trip for him After they had left New Orleans they had exchanged numbers with the promise to stay in touch. That didn't exactly happen obviously.
It seemed she had recognized him as well because she looked as surprised as he did. Dark eyes went wide as she stared at him momentarily before she bombarded him, barreling into him with arms wide. He couldn't help but laugh as she wrapped her slender arms around him, squeezing him hard as she said it had been forever, and he honestly had. The promise to stay in touch had been an empty one and he felt guilty he hadn't reached out, but neither had she. Regardless, he was just glad to see her again.
And then he felt a shock flow through his body and he couldn't help but let out a yelp in pain (and surprise) at the sensation. One similar to being tased, had she fucking tased him? Surely not, but maybe it was just from static electricity, which he would go along with as she had looked just as surprised as he had. He chuckled as he rubbed the back of his neck as she apologized for shocking him. "Must of been the static," he mentioned as some form of an explanation, although he wasn't sure if that was something he actually believed. But for now, he'd roll with it.
As Roxxi pulled away she asked how he was, all while maintaining a grip on his arm. Before he could open his mouth to even speak she spoke, saying how it had been roughly ten years since the two had seen one another and he still looked as if he were in high school. He chuckled at her comment. Yes, he was aware of his babyface, he'd gotten that nickname back in the Marines when he was enlisted. All of his fellow Marines and all said the same thing, as if he never aged a day. "I've been decent," he said replying honestly as he finished off his beer and set it back onto the bar as he looked over at Roxxi who had tears swelling in her brown eyes. "Hey now, no need to cry. I know I'm gorgeous, but I'm not that gorgeous." He said teasingly, hoping to help lighten the mood even more. "Fuck, has it really been ten years? Seems like yesterday you were dragging me away from... what's his name... Rick, yeah that's it. Thank god you did because I would've beat the kid up just for how utterly boring he was. Kid actually had what we were gonna do planned out for the entire trip." He said laughing as he thought back to those times, back when things were okay, back when he had his brother at his side. Back before things grew utterly dark and depressing. Back before the incident that had changed his life forever.
"What about you though? What have you been up to all these years?" He asked, wondering just what the hell she had been up to. Just like him, Roxxi hadn't bothered to message or even call. Then again he supposed he should have taken the initiative to message her first, but he was a jerk back then and hadn't but damn had he wished he had. Roxxi was one of the brightest things in his life at the time, he would have loved to have had her in his life all these years. But there was nothing he could do about that now, all he could do was keep moving forward.

━ i don't know where i'm going, but i sure know where i've been ━ SHE CRINGED WHEN HE yelped himself, practically echoing her own, the zap seeming to surprise them both. She felt awful about it, but it couldn’t be controlled━at least not yet. At least Dick bought her cheap explanation, though, convincing himself it was just static. Roxxi had seen it before━humans getting a glimpse of the supernatural and writing it off any way they could. Like a square peg in a round hole, they tried desperately to make it fit even when it was a stretch. This wasn’t so bad, but she imagined Dick would force it even if he was on the ground flopping like a fish. Most people would; it was only the skepticism of human nature, she supposed.
Decent. God, that wasn’t an explanation at all. She wanted every little detail about his life that he would give up━she’d missed him so fucking much. Fingers squeezed lightly around his arms, gripping the muscle there, a teasing smile growing despite her vision quickly becoming cloudy. “Feels better than decent. Been working out?” Roxxi wiggled her brows playfully, though her free hand came up to wipe away a tear that’d narrowly escaped.
‘Hey now, no need to cry. I know I'm gorgeous, but I'm not that gorgeous.’
She rolled her eyes, a laugh punching out as she did, shaking her head. Roxxi was still grinning, even as she took his cheek in her hand and laid out the insults, “Brutto figlio di puttana.” Another laugh before she leaned in and explained, “That means you’re ugly.” And a little more, but it was all a joke, anyway. She’d taught him a few words in Italian way back when, of course the cursing came first, though Roxxi couldn’t rely on him remembering them enough to understand her now.
“Rick!” Roxxi exploded with more laughter once Dick said his name, still not moving from him, even leaning in a few inches as she reminisced. “God, what a dumbass. You’re so lucky you got me in the end, huh?” She teased, “Saved your ass and Rick’s, apparently.” Shaking her head, Roxxi moved to lean one side into the bar, the arm that’d fallen from his face coming up once more, elbow propped on the counter. Her other hand drifted down from his bicep to grab Dick’s hand, not letting it go while she lingered there.
“What, now I gotta tell you my whole life story after you only gave me a ‘decent?” She scoffed, “Doesn’t seem fair.” But she wouldn’t give up an excuse to talk. “But… I did get away from my shitty fucking family. I teach at Whitmore College now. Professor Braschi.” She stated proudly, though she’d been ‘Roxanne Agnelli’ when she met Dick. Maybe he would remember this, considering his decent memory of high school so far, and because Roxxi certainly did: spending all that time bonding meant they had quiet, subtle moments where she could confide in him, and tell Dick all about her fucked up family and how much she hated them. Obviously, she’d left out the werewolf bits and some of the heavier details, but told him all about how they’d ruined other people’s lives.
People that were beginning to pop back up in her life and were scaring the shit out of her.

━ our worst day is where we start from, where we rise from━
THIS was too good to be true. Dick had gotten used to the fact that nothing ever good happened in his life. With his parents being dead, only one of his troop alive after managing to save them from the ambush, how he managed even to save them was beyond him, everyone else had perished and he blamed himself for that every single damn day. His superiors told him it was not his fault, that he tried to save them, that at least he saved one of his men. But that wasn't good enough, not in Dick's eyes. He should have done more, should have tried to save them all, but he hadn't and he would have to live with that for the rest of his natural life. No amount of therapy or alcohol would curb those feelings: guilt, self-loathing, the constant wondering if he could have done something different, that if he had they would all be alive. Why didn't he pick up on the ambush? Was he slacking? All those questions ran through his head on a constant basis, it's what kept him up at night. Blissful sleep was nothing more than a luxury nowadays.
But maybe things in his shit life were looking up now that he had been reunited with his childhood friend. He had been so consumed with darkness since leaving the military that he hadn't known what it was like to laugh, or feel happy. More often than not, Dick made a point to keep himself immersed with work to stop himself from thinking about what could have happened. Work was everything, it was shitty at times, but it kept him focused and calculated, two things he was while in the military. Roxxi squeezed his bicep in a teasing manner, asking if he worked out. Dick couldn't help but chuckle, "You can thank the Marines for that," he said with a wink, returning the teasing that Roxxi had started. He had been in immense shape while in the military, even more so now than when he had started. With his current job it was best to remain as in shape as possible, made his life easy, but hearing Roxxi comment on it made him smile, especially at her flirting, not that he looked much into it. Dick saw her as a friend, nothing more than that, never had been interested in anything but, but it was fun to tease her back.
'Brutto figlio di puttana,' Roxxi said, placing her hand on his cheek as she told him how ugly he was and he rolled his eyes. Back when they had been on that school trip, Roxxi had taught him some words in Italian, nothing major, but it was enough to have a conversation with. What she probably didn't know, however, was after that trip, Dick had went back home and learned the language in full, actually becoming fluent in it, hoping one day he would be able to see his friend again and show off his new skills, although that never happened. "Sapevo cosa intendevi," he said as she translated her words to him. This would surely shock the hell out of her and Dick would admit, he couldn't wait for her reaction to him speaking Italian to her. With being in the military Dick needed something to get his mind off things, learning Italian just so happened to be the one thing he had done to do so. Good thing too. It came in handy more than he would admit.
Roxxi laughed loudly as Dick mentioned Rick's name, the nerdy boy who had been assigned to be his partner back on that trip, although he didn't stay his partner long thanks to Roxxi intervening. Dick returned the laughter as he took a sip out of his drink. "I'm glad you did, he was so boring." He said, thinking back on how that day he met Rick and how he made a promise to himself to leave the dude as soon as he could. If he had to hear another fact about New Orleans he would have ended up smacking him. Thankfully Roxxi had snatched him up and showed him all the fun shit there was to do, because otherwise that trip would've been a bust.
Dick squeezed Roxxi's hand as she intertwined their fingers together as she spoke and Dick laughed, knowing full and well she would have reacted that way when he hadn't went into detail about his life. But instead of pressing, she explained what she had been up to, mentioning how she had gotten away from her shitty family and was now a professor at a local college. "Consider me impressed, Professor." He said in a teasing manner, although he was curious at her name change, but considering what she had told him about her family, he wasn't all that surprised. "Ended up changing your last name, huh? Don't blame you after what you've been through. I would've done the same." He said, downing the rest of his drink before setting the empty bottle onto the bar counter as he looked back over at his friend. "Guess it's time for me to talk. Well, after that trip I went back home, finished highschool and then enrolled in the Marines as soon as I could. I'm out now though, doing some bounty huntin' here in town, nothing as fancy as a Professor, but it pays the bills." He said, giving her a rather simplistic rundown of his life since their trip. to New Orleans. Knowing how she was though, he was sure she would pry for more details. Normally Dick wouldn't give them, but this was Roxxi, someone he had confided in back in his teenage days, a time where he definitely wasn't one to open up, but somehow she had managed to be the one he did it to and looking back on it, was so glad he had done so.

━ i don't know where i'm going, but i sure know where i've been ━ THE MARINES? WELL, COLOUR her surprised. “You look more like a Navy boy,” Roxxi smirked, “Too small for the marines, amore.” She patted his arm anyway, a bright smile on her face, one she hoped would spread to his. Dick was serious, it had drawn her to him in the first place, but she didn’t doubt that whatever happened in their time apart had forced him to close up further. It probably should’ve done the same for Roxxi, and it had, in a way, never sharing details of her family or gaining any close friends, but she’d remained a little too outgoing for her own good. It was getting her into brand new messes across Mystic Falls, but Dick was a mess she was thankful for.
‘Sapevo cosa intendevi,’
Her smile turned to a gasp lightning fast━as fast as the little shock she’d sent through him. She ‘taught’ Dick Italian the same way any native speaker would’ve━curse words first, actual words second━and even then, they hadn’t gotten much further than simple tourist questions. Had he learned it on the job? Most likely, but Roxxi couldn’t help blushing at him now, leaning in to give him a quick and excited kiss on the mouth, full of playfulness more than anything else. And, when she met his eyes again, Roxxi was beaming. “Sai l'italiano adesso? Guardati! È stato meraviglioso!” A few more lip-smacks came━cheek, cheek, then forehead━with Roxxi’s hands holding his face as if she’d never let it go. It was the biggest compliment, she thought, whether or not he’d learned it for her, Dick hadn’t known a lick of Italian when she’d met him, and now he could speak it back to her. “Sorprendente.”
Soon, they settled into something calmer, low-energy, a raincloud cast over their shared bit of sunshine. She’d missed him, and he’d missed a lot, as she’d undoubtedly missed a lot of his life. But Dick was the only person she could share this triumph over her family with━maybe Jo, eventually, but for now, all she had was Dick. First, she snickered, one hand finding his chest, giving a playful and soft smack. “Ooh, don’t say it like that, I’m kinda into it.” Roxxi cackled, still holding onto his hand with one of her own, the digits on his chest retreating to retrieve the beer she’d since abandoned.
‘Ended up changing your last name, huh? Don’t blame you after what you’ve been through. I would’ve done the same.’
Roxxi nodded, desperate to not give in to that darkness, swallowing almost half her beer before her focus returned to Dick. “Why the Marines?” She asked, dark brows drawing together. He didn’t… seem like the type, but was there ever one, really? “Trying to get away from home, or…?” Trailing off, she waited for him to complete the thought, a frown tugging at her lips. She had some sort of desperate pull to protect him, just like she did with Chase, a shield cast over those minuscule connections she still had.
Bounty hunter. Her stomach twisted up, tightened, rolled. He knew about her family, knew all the deep, dark shit they were in, and for a moment, Roxxi worried. She’d never been involved in it, but was Dick here for something else? Had he followed an Agnelli here, sliding their shit to Mystic Falls to… no. No, it wasn’t worth stressing over━there was a rational explanation for everything. Dick grew up in Mystic Falls, and she had been the one to approach him tonight. There wasn’t any reason to worry, and slowly, she stopped doing so. This was about him.
“Dio. That sounds like an old western film. Do you chase bad guys on horseback with a lasso and everything?” Her lips quirked up, squeezing his hand playfully. “Are you with the police department?” Private contractor-type deal, most likely, but did that mean he knew Chase? Had he worked with him? Ugh, the next time she was following Chase around in the shape of a mutt, she’d just find these answers herself.
“Hey… you going to stay around here for another drink or do you want to walk me home? I feel like I’m not going to leave your side for another day at least.” Roxxi laughed again, but this time it had a weight to it━the same one squeezing around her heart. She wouldn’t let him go again, not this time, not ever. Dick was stuck with her for life.
