━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
FASTER and faster she ran through the woods, scrambling to get away from these relentless sons of bitches, it was exhausting. Day after day it seemed she was being chased, her father growing more and more impatient the more she denied him. She didn't know how many times she would have to reject him for him to get it through his thick skill that she wanted absolutely no part of him or his crusade. As far as she was concerned he wasn't her father any longer, that title had been stripped from him the moment he decided to abandon her, choosing power and dark magic over his only child. It was sickening and pained her deeply. But that was just how her life had been handed to her and there was nothing she could do about it. Both of her parents were gone, lost to this cruel world because of dark magic. The magic and power her father continued to grow, more and more causing him to become something he wasn't. Power was known to corrupt even the purest of hearts and her father had been no exception, turning into something so sadistic that it made her stomach churn.
It was coming time for her father's life to end once and for all, for all this bullshit to end so she could have even an ounce of peace, even if it were only temporary. At least she would have found the peace she had so desperately craved. Evelyn hadn't known peace since her father turned to dark magic. After her mother had cheated on her father she knew he would never be the same and he never was. From that point on he had turned into something indescribable, something so unrecognizable that it sent chills down her spine. William Monet was a monster and he needed to be put down before he caused any more damage than he already had, if that were even possible. He had already caused so much damage, so much violence and pain that she wasn't so sure it could get any worse. How wrong she had been. Ever since denying him, something inside of him had changed. He grew darker right in front of her eyes, if that were even possible. She often wondered what would happen if he would finally get it through his head that his only child would not be joining him. But Evelyn wasn't sure she wanted to know. That realization would surely only cause something inside of him to snap even further and Evelyn would be even more terrified than she had ever been before if that were to happen.
Evelyn was suddenly met with the cold ground as she tripped over a tree branch, causing her to tumble forwards. She groaned as she scrambled to her feet as the men looked at her, mischief written across their features and they looked at her. There were three of them and she knew by the looks of things this was her father's doing. 'Tsk tsk tsk. Your father doesn't like to be denied, Eve. I'm sure you know this by now..' They were taunting her now and their words solidified this more so than ever that this particular encounter was all her father's doing. He was trying ti intimidate her, show her what happens when you deny him. But she wouldn't let him get to her anymore than he already had, she couldn't allow for him to win. She couldn't. "Well come on then, let's get this over with." Unknowingly to these sorry sons of bitches she had a few new tricks up her sleeve Thank god she had decided to learn a few more offensive spells because after all the shit that had been happening in town, she needed the power boost. Anything that gave her an advantage over her father and his men. Evelyn would do whatever it took to rid the world of William Monet once and for all and tonight was no exception.

━ the more you suffer, the more it shows you really care ━ NEMO HAD TO DECIDE exactly where he would take Chase on. Mystic Falls wasn’t necessarily a big town, but he could feel the magic here. At the burial grounds, for an extra burst of power? Maybe. He thought of luring Chase to the woods and doing it there, but the issue was what he was planning to do. He had no pre-meditation other than a desperate craving for revenge, and he’d get it no matter what, in the end. Or, at least, he hoped so.
Nonetheless, he was checking out the woods to at least make an attempt at a plan.
It wasn’t as if Nemo hadn’t been emotional before, but he felt it more now, what with all the loss he’d been through. He saw pretty flowers lining the path into the woods and thought about Giorgia━if she’d like them, if her husband ever got her flowers, if Nemo could send her a bouquet without causing any trouble. It seemed like a fantasy now━their life together seemed like a fantasy, and he should’ve let it go years before. She obviously had.
Nemo had his arm stretched below his shirt, thumb tracing the curves of his tattoo for her when he stumbled across them. It looked like some sort of sticky situation━one he hadn’t been invited to, nor did he want to be involved in. “Um━” Nemo began, brow furrowed. The men turned to him, looking aggressive, and not at all how he’d expected. Nemo had thought she was egging them on to get it started but it seemed he had it all wrong. Lifting a hand to shove back his hood, one T-shaped scar was revealed while he turned his head one way, then the other, dark eyes examining the group.
He was sure one of them demanded that Nemo turn around and walk away, but unluckily for them, he had little sense and a strong feeling towards those getting ganged up on. It reminded him too much of his childhood━well, his entire fucking life, really. “Are you botherin’ her?” He asked, and then looked at the blonde caught in the middle. “You okay? Can… can I do anything to help?” Nemo would throw them all away in an instant if magic wasn’t such a big secret.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
IT didn't matter what she did or said, her father was been hellbent on getting her to either join him or take all her magic, but he was coming to find out that wasn't ever going to happen no matter what he did or said, she would die before she would ever do so, he had to know that. But she also knew her father better than anyone else and he didn't particularly like being told no, or disappointed for that matter. She had her mother to thank for that. After her affair it seemed everything changed in her father, turning him into the man he was today. Her transgressions had ruined him. Now he was just a monster of a human being, one she absolutely wanted nothing to do with and she had told him this on more than one occasion but he just wouldn't listen. William Monet was a stubborn man, one that wanted nothing less than perfection and wanted everything to go in his favor. He wanted her to join him but she didn't, couldn't, give him what he wanted. Expression had turned her father into something so sinister she didn't recognize him anymore, he wouldn't dabble in such magic. Not now, not later.
The men in front of her grinned as she egged them on, telling them to go ahead and get this over with as he was not in the mood for their games. She was growing tired of his games, of him sending his henchmen after her constantly. But she had a feeling also they had gone rebellious and did what they wanted to at this point in time, which if they were following her father, it was very stupid on their part to do so. Then again, these followers of her father were stupid to begin with for following him in the first place. Whatever her father had promised them wasn't going to happen. He wouldn't follow through on his promises, they had to know that he was just using them for his own personal gain, right? Probably not, but if this was the life they wanted to live then they needed to reap the consequences that followed.
As she prepared to fight the men off, a tall man suddenly appeared out of nowhere, intervening in what was sure to be a fucking mess. 'Are you botherin’ her? You okay? Can… can I do anything to help?' The man spoke and she knew that she needed the backup, but she didn't want to drag an innocent bystander into this mess. Regardless, she knew this wouldn't end well for the guy and he needed to just leave and get out while he could. The last thing she needed was another death on her hands. The men told the guy to leave, but looking at the man's posture, if she asked for his help he would do just that and help her, just as he had asked.
The last thing she needed was for him to get hurt, but she could only do so much without magic, she didn't have any combat skills, nothing to really help her in situations where she couldn't use her magic. Green eyes looked into the stranger's dark ones, almost pleadingly and she nodded in response to his offer to help her, that she was in fact being bothered by these men and wanted out of this entire fucking situation. A silent cry for help, hoping the guy would actually go through with his offer to help her. 'We said leave, this is none of your business,' the men spat at the stranger. One of the men suddenly pulled out a switchblade, threatening the man who had offered to help her, for them to stop bothering her. Seconds passed and before she could utter a single word, the men in front of them lunged forward, going straight for the guy who had only offered to help.

━ the more you suffer, the more it shows you really care ━ ALL HIS LIFE, ESPECIALLY when he was small and couldn’t defend himself, Nemo dealt with bullies. Getting shoved into corners and ganged up on, picked at and prodded, teased until he was sobbing. But Nemo wouldn’t cry now, and he’d damn well make sure this girl wouldn’t, either. He hated this kind of shit, and even if he didn’t have the full story, he’d come to her defence. It just wasn’t fair━and he’d rather take the chance that he was wrong about her innocence than turn away and pretend it never happened. He refused to be a bystander.
One little nod, and he signed his life away. That was all it took for Nemo to get involved. He dipped his chin back at her, pushed his gum into the pocket between his teeth and cheek with his tongue, and then turned to the next asshole who told him to leave. Yeah, no way was that happening now.
Dark eyes jumped down to the switchblade presented, and in a moment, he would be overpowered. It was quick and easy━weeks in the hospital left Nemo’s muscles weak and unused, but he was never the toughest guy before that. Still, he didn’t need strength when he had magic. (Though, that wasn’t a good explanation for his face.)
But at least they were going after him and not the girl, right?
With a little bit of magical assistance, the dude with the switchblade couldn’t get close enough to stab him. His hand froze in the air, and Nemo darted out his own to wrap around the guy’s wrist, trying to cover up the sudden change. A small shove with his other hand and the guy was flying backwards, landing with a thud on the ground. He’d just… tell her he was strong. Had self-defence training. Something like that.
And, really, he did. Nemo just wasn’t very good at it. Which explained the hard punch he received from one of the other men crowding in, one he would’ve been able to avoid if he were a better fighter. It rocked his jaw and sent a buzzing through his head, gangly limbs shooting out like Bambi on ice, forcing him to stumble sideways. “Now would be a good time to bust out your secret Kung-Fu skills,” Nemo puffed, voice garbled while he called to the blonde, gaze jumping back to the other guys. “Look, I’m not gonna let you toss her around. You guys are right, it’s not my business, but I’m not walking away.” False courage that was only reachable in strange occasions, and in small doses. If he could fling them all away like the first guy without raising any questions, then this might be easier, but he couldn’t━not with her watching.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
ONE thing after another, Evelyn never got a break. Ever since the incident back in New York, she hadn't gotten one true moment of peace. Her father was making damn sure of that and it was utterly exhausting. Why couldn't he just leave her alone? Let her live her life? She wasn't doing anything to him, hadn't gotten in his way, but apparently that wasn't enough for him. No, he wanted more. Wanted more power, and only power that came from his own flesh and blood. The power he held wasn't enough, he craved more. The darkness inside of him had begun to consume his every move, if it hadn't already that is. Which, she was pretty damn sure it had already from the extent he was going to in order to get her attention, for her to realize that he would never stop until he got what he wanted. As long as she was breathing, she would make damn sure he never got what he wanted.
As long as she was breathing, she would fight.
This time was no different, but this time she had some help, although she had been reluctant to accept it at first. The last thing she wanted was to drag anyone else into this mess that was her life, but she was beginning to realize that accepting help was not the end of the world. She didn't need to take on the entire world, didn't need to take on her father alone, especially not his little minions he had following her everywhere. Asking for help is not a weakness. Repressing her emotions is not a sign of strength, it is perfectly okay for her to feel, to grieve, to shout to the world how fucking angry she was at her father for all the pain he had caused her. It was okay and she needed to come to terms with that. It was a work in progress, because she had always done everything on her own. With being an only child, she had always been content with being alone, in doing things by herself. It's what made asking for help difficult, but not anymore. No, she wouldn't be the weakly her father thought her to be. She would fight.
She would fight back like hell.
That singular nod she had given the stranger had been all the reassurance he needed to step in and help. Evelyn stood idly by as she watched the events unfold, watching as one of the guys shoot his hand up to strike the stranger, although she watched as his hand froze mid air, only for a second, but she noticed it. She would recognize magic being used anywhere. This stranger was also a witch, or rather, warlock. The guy shot his hand out and shoved the guy backwards, the guy actually looked as if he were flying. This guy was definitely using magic, that much was incredibly obvious to her. But before he could even think, he other guy punched him, hard, causing him to stumble sideways.
'Now would be a good time to bust out your secret Kung-Fu skills,' he said to her, his dark eyes shooting her direction before looking back at the men, telling them plainly that he wasn't going anywhere, that he wasn't going to let them hurt her. He wasn't walking away. That didn't resonate well with the men because they merely scoffed, she knew if she didn't step in soon and end this things would take a turn for the worst and she had it. Enough was enough.
"Enough!" She yelled, shooting her hand out and muttering a few words which then promptly sent them all to their knees in pain. Little aneurysm spell was her best friend nowadays. Stepping in front of the man who had come to help her, she now positioned herself in front of him as to protect him, although if her assumptions were right and he also had magic, he didn't really need protecting, but she wasn't about to let these assholes bully anyone else. Not her and definitely not the guy who had stepped in to help her out. "I have had it with the constant harassment. You tell my father that if he wants me to come and face me himself instead of sending his pathetic puppets after me. I won't tell you all again, leave now while you can." She said, her tone cold as ice as she stared at the men who were obviously in pain. They hadn't expected her to actual fight back so it seems, but she was done. Evelyn had hit her breaking point and she was fed up with being the damsel in distress. From now on, if they wanted a fight, a fight was what they were going to get.

━ the more you suffer, the more it shows you really care ━ ONE WOULD THINK A man like Nemo━or who looked like him━had seen his fair share of fights. And he had, truthfully, but it was literal━he saw a lot of the action. Even after Emiliano finally allowed Nemo a place in the Agnelli family, the boy had been extra help on the sidelines. Hand-to-hand combat wasn’t something he was ever skilled in, and Emiliano figured he was more useful casting spells from somewhere he couldn’t be attacked.
That hadn’t worked so well when confronting Chase. Maybe Emiliano had been right all along. He was a pitiful excuse for a man, meant nothing, couldn’t even die when he was supposed to. But a human shouldn’t have been that strong. Nobody wanted to believe Chase was something else━they were comfortable with what they’d thought all along: Nemo was useless.
Pain swelled in his head. It wasn’t anything like getting his face smashed to bits, but it hurt. His damaged nerves sprung to life under his skin, fighting back as if some sort of traumatic muscle memory trained them. Get out, get out. Leaveleaveleave.
But he couldn’t. Somebody was in trouble, and he’d save her because nobody deserved to be ganged up on.
‘Enough!’
Even if it meant she’d save him in the end. Perhaps she’d only needed a moment to gain control or the confidence to fight back. Nemo was at least happy he could provide that for her, if nothing else.
She didn’t have any martial arts training, but she did have magic. Equal parts relieved and ecstatic, Nemo slowly recovered, straightening while she stood in front of him like his own personal shield. Tiny, but packed a punch, apparently. He thought of flicking his fingers and helping her with the spell, but their heads might just explode with two witches on the job. Instead, those digits raised to his jaw, hovered over the scars, and felt the bone while he wiggled it back and forth gently. Not broken, just radiating with pain.
Her father sent these guys after her? Nemo began to rethink his original assumptions. This seemed like an Emiliano move. Were all father figures shitty? His mom told romanticized stories of his biological dad, but what did that matter to him now? He hadn’t experienced any of it━or couldn’t remember the little he had.
And if he had gotten his way and fathered Georgia’s kids, would he have turned out the same? Would they? He’d made a promise that he would love their children no matter the curse put on her family━what if they had a mini-Emiliano and he couldn’t keep that promise?
God, it didn’t even fucking matter. She was married. She didn’t want him.
And Nemo was lost in his head again.
He snapped back into focus when the men looked as though they were to make their decision. Most seemed to retreat, but the one with the switchblade advanced again, weapon held as if he were ready to land his blow this time.
They were right. He was fucking useless. He didn’t shove her out of the way, didn’t even attempt to save her from the attacker. The guy moved too quickly and Nemo… Nemo didn’t have time to react. He should’ve━maybe if he could think in a clear, concise and straight line without his damaged brain flittering off every-which-way, he could’ve done something better.
It wasn’t until the man drove the knife into her skin that Nemo shot out a hand, gripping her shoulder protectively, looming over the girl’s head. His hulking frame meant nothing if he couldn’t do anything with it. “Stop━” He croaked, as if that could do any good, his hold on her only keeping the girl upright.
Giving the man another magical shove, leaving him soaring back a few feet, Nemo finally moved to her side, trying to find the wound. “I━I’m sorry━did you… are you okay?” Stupid question, stupid question. “We need to━you have to get that patched up. Keep pressure on it, okay?” Unfortunately for her, Nemo’s attempt to “save” her sent the knife flying back with the assailant, ripping it from the wound and only creating more trouble.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
HER father's men were a bunch of relentless bastards, desperate for her father's approval. Which, if they knew literally anything about him they would know it wasn't something easy to come by. As a matter of fact it was something they would never get. Hell, she never got it and she was his blood, his only child. But even then, they did everything he asked. Ever chore, every mission, whatever the hell he wanted, they would get for him, including pestering and stalking his only child. What he had to gain from having his men harass her was beyond her, she didn't get it. Didn't get why he couldn't just leave her the hell alone. But one thing her father was not was someone who hid in the shadows, he loved the attention, craved it even. Whatever he wanted, he got, no matter who got hurt in the process. The dark magic he had used consumed him whole, until there was nothing left but darkness. Emptiness.
Evelyn knew exposing herself like she just had was risky, but in that moment, she couldn't care less. These sons of bitches would not leave her alone and she was not about to have them hurt someone else because of her. The guy who had intervened was an innocent stranger, a bypasser, someone wanting to help the damsel in distress. He didn't deserve this, didn't deserve to be harmed because of her father. He had done nothing wrong but want to help her, and even though she had given him the go ahead to do so, she couldn't help but regret that decision the moment he got hurt. But in that moment, she did not care if she exposed herself as a magical being, they needed to be stopped and she had enough. Hearing them cry out in pain was satisfying enough, but she would not let up unless they left, unless they would leave her the hell alone, although she knew deep down that would never be the case. Not until her father was out of the picture.
For good.
She knew she should have stopped them before the guy even could intervene, but here lately she was having issues with her magic and in times like these she couldn't afford that. For her to have to take a moment to gain her composure to be able to fight back, to use her abilities. Whether that be fear or anxiety, her magic acting up was something she couldn't afford as all it would take is one slip up and she was done for.
Although half his size, Evelyn stood in front of the man like a human shield, Evelyn clenched her outstretched hand into a fist as she intensified the spell, making them wither in pain even more to get her point across. "I won't be so nice next time. Go, now." She said, her voice dropping a few octaves as to get her point across - she was in no mood for further games, she wanted this night to be over with. They had already ruined her evening, she didn't need it to drag on longer than it needed to. Thankfully she had gotten her point across as most of the men scattered like rodents. Evelyn let out a sigh of relief as they all fled and she turned her body slightly to look at the male who had intervened with the intention of thanking him and trying to explain what had just happened. Big mistake.
Before she knew what had happened, it was too late. The rushing of footsteps behind her caused her to turn back around, only she turned around too late. As she turned she felt a sharp, piercing pain erupt in her abdomen. Blue eyes widened as she realized what had happened, one of her father's men had stabbed her. Killing her father's daughter hadn't been part of the plan, hadn't been in the cards as she knew good and well what her father wanted from her and she kinda had to be alive for that to happen. This guy went rogue.
Pain rippled through her body, her hands instinctively going to her abdomen as she clutched her wound. The man had his hand firmly around her shoulder as to hold her upright as he stuck his free hand out, sending her attacked flying backwards... along with the knife in her stomach that was keeping blood from pooling out. Evelyn cried out in pain as she applied pressure. "Son... of... a bitch." She let out as the man moved to her side as he mentioned how they needed to get her patched up, that she needed to keep pressure on her wound. Already doing that, thanks Sherlock, she thought to herself as she applied more pressure, crying out in pain as she did so. "Y-you have m-magic t-too?" She asked, although it came out between gasped breaths as she tried to fight through the pain and wasn't so sure it came out coherent at all.
'Are you okay?' The man with the dark eyes asked and she couldn't help but laugh at his stupid ass question, although the laugh was shortly followed by a cry of pain. "Fuck." She said, mentally cursing that her guardian angel wasn't here to magically fix her wound. Dammit Cas where are you when I need you? Apparently being there for her whenever she needed wasn't actually the case. She would be having a talking to with the angel as soon as she found his ass. "No I- I'm k-kinda not, al-right." She finally spoke, answering the guy's rather dumbass question, which she figured he hadn't meant to ask given as though he could see that very much wasn't the case. Fuck she needed to get this bleeding under control before things took a true turn for the worst and especially before she passed out from the pain. "T-think you can g-get me out of h-here?" She asked between deep breaths, blue eyes staring up into his pitch black ones. She hoped he would snap out of the shock he was in currently because she needed to get help and fast. The switchblade the guy had used wasn't long, but it was long enough to do some real damage. Evelyn couldn't afford to be out of commission, not when her psychotic father was closing in.
And fast.

━ the more you suffer, the more it shows you really care ━ HE COULD HAVE SAVED her. Nemo was only here to save her, and yet he’d probably caused more harm than good. If she wasn’t distracted with him, hadn’t been protecting him, that asshole never would’ve landed his blow. Nemo knew what it was like to have a blade pierce your skin like that, to have everything shredded beyond belief, but he should’ve known, then, that it was possible to survive something like that.
Nemo nodded twice at her question, like a skittish cat, shaking with worry and distrust. He was more focused on helping the girl rather than swapping stories about their magical roots, and while he had good intentions, his own question wasn’t quite so helpful, either. Her laugh tore sharply through him, making Nemo flinch as he bent closer. “I’m sorry.” He croaked, still holding her shoulder as if he could drain her pain through it.
‘T-think you can g-get me out of h-here?’
No. Nemo had serious doubts about his ability to do absolutely anything at this point, but he’d try for her. His head was nodding before he could stop it, a promise he shouldn’t have offered in return. “Y-yeah,” He stuttered, nervous, but no physical pain like she was experiencing. “Just let me… your shirt won’t be enough to keep all the blood in.”
It wasn’t blood that had him growing nauseous, but the idea of taking off any more of the layers that kept him safe. Finally removing his hold on her, he stripped out of his jacket with fast, trembling hands, and then out of his t-shirt. He was too tall, lanky, though months of physical therapy ensured there was some muscle there, and none of the skin under his clothing was as badly shredded as his face. A scar over his breastbone, shoulder, belly, but scattered and not nearly as red or angry as the ones above.
Nemo caught her eye again before he dropped to one knee, carefully lifting just the bottom hem of her shirt. “I’m just… just give me one second to put this underneath. Your shirt will hold it in place.” There wasn’t time to get nervous now, but Nemo was blushing anyway, stuffing the fabric in as hastily. From the ground, he slipped his jacket back on and scooped her carefully, with a quiet warning, one arm under her knees, the other curled around her shoulder blades. It was too bad he didn’t know any teleportation spells.
“I’m… at the motel. If that’s okay. I don’t know what we’d say at the hospital, and I have a first-aid kit… and we can see if a spell will work. It’ll be okay.” He didn’t know which one of them he was convincing at this point, but Nemo rushed her out of there as if his life depended on it.
He needed some sort of spell to keep her in his arms, though. He wasn’t nearly strong enough to make it all the way by himself, and thankfully, nobody seemed to be outside during the short journey. Apologizing profusely, Nemo eventually lowered her to the ground at the motel room door, scrambling in his pocket for his keys. He got the door open in what was only moments but felt like sixty years, helping her past the threshold with a single arm curled around her like a crutch. “The bathroom━the kit’s in there. How’re you doing? I have some Gatorade in the fridge if you’re feeling dizzy. It’ll help.” Anybody would know that━he didn’t have to explain it to her━but nothing stopped Nemo’s nervous mouth from rambling. He led her to the dinky, cheap, little bathroom, trying to shift her onto the closed toilet lid to scramble for the first-aid kit under the sink.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN's life was never simple. Never normal. From the moment she had been told about her magical abilities her life had never been normal. She was a witch. One born to hundreds before her, a legacy of sorts. She sure as hell didn't feel like a legacy, not after what she had done and what her father had done. Despite doing everything in her power to not turn out like her father, she had do exactly that. Evelyn was more like her father than she would care to admit. She had used his own tactics against him in order to take him down. But at what cost? Her magic? Any and all relationships she had? Her life? She had told herself time after time that she had to do whatever it took in order to take her father down. That he had to die for everyone to be safe. The world had to be rid of William Monet once and for all, no matter what it cost.
Here lately she was becoming more and more mentally and physically exhausted, especially after learning of her father's little puppets in town. She thought she wasn't able to get sleep before, it was even worse now that she knew her father was watching her. The fact that he knew where she was, was watching her, sent chills down her spine. People were afraid of the boogie man, she was afraid of her own father. It was a never ending cycle of exhaustion and paranoia and she was sure anyone could tell just by looking at her. The bags under her eyes weren't exactly subtle. The lack of sleep had been something she had been dealing with since she had fled New York and it was even worse now because of her father. She was constantly terrified that if she shut her eyes only for a moment, that when she opened them there he would be, standing over her ready to end her life once and for all. Evelyn knew her father wasn't above killing his only daughter, he was sadistic enough to where he would do it without blinking an eye. Honestly though, if it came down to her or those she loved... she would choose them over herself easily, without a second thought about it.
Guess she was going to get a taste of that no thanks to her father's rogue minions. The pain was sharp, throbbing from the knife that had been pierced into her stomach. At least she had this guy here to help, holding her upright by her shoulder. 'Just let me… your shirt won’t be enough to keep all the blood in.' No kidding, she felt like she was losing pints by the second. Evelyn watched him as he took off his shirt before kneeling down, lifting the bottom of her shirt as he placed the fabric against the wound. As soon as the pressure of the shirt hit against her stomach she let out a sharp gasp, the pain even worse with the pressure but knew it was necessary to keep herself from bleeding out.
'I’m… at the motel. If that’s okay. I don’t know what we’d say at the hospital, and I have a first-aid kit… and we can see if a spell will work. It’ll be okay.' All Evelyn could do was nod at his suggestion. The pain beginning to make her dizzy, her head was spinning but knew she had to stay awake and forced her eyes wide open. Eventually the guy bent down and picked her up, rushing the two of them the hell out of there as they made their way to the motel. Evelyn cursed the entire way there as she tried her damnest to keep pressure on the wound. A little bit further, that's what she kept telling herself.
A little bit further.
Minutes later and they had arrived at his motel door, apologizing profusely as he lowered her to the ground so that he could open the door. Once opened, he leaned down and helped her to her feet, arm slung around her waist as to help her inside - and upright. 'The bathroom━the kit’s in there. How’re you doing? I have some Gatorade in the fridge if you’re feeling dizzy. It’ll help.' How was she doing? That question was laughable because clearly she wasn't doing all that great, but she knew it was a genuine question and considering he saved her ass back there, she wasn't gonna argue. "I've b-been better," she said meekly, trying to lighten the situation, although it was a shitty way of doing so. "G-gatorade would b-be g-great." She said, stuttering her way through sentences, the pain making it ore and more difficult to speak.
Leading her to the bathroom, Evelyn sat down against the cold toilet seat, the coolness of it relieving, although not by much. She leaned against the back of the toilet and groaned, keeping pressure against her wound, she was fading and fast, fighting back against her natural urges to pass out while the guy scrambled to get the first-aid kit from underneath the sink. "My name's E-Evelyn b-by the w-way," she said, realizing she hadn't even mentioned her name to the guy who had risked his life for a complete stranger when he most certainly didn't have to. He could have kept walking, minded his pwn business, but instead he intervened, willing to step in when she needed it the most.
And she couldn't be more thankful he had.

━ the more you suffer, the more it shows you really care ━ SHE WAS THE ONE with the wound, and yet Nemo was shaking profusely with someone else’s blood on his hands. He hadn’t even put it there━well, he hadn’t dealt the blow himself, but he would blame himself for not stopping it. Now, though, all he could control was the way he handled it, and he didn’t think he was doing any good with that, either.
‘I've b-been better,’
Nemo offered her a weak smile. She was clearly strong, especially since it didn’t seem like the first incident she’d had with these guys, and the fact that she could joke at a time like this━Nemo wouldn’t be able to.
He made sure to get her to the toilet seat safely before darting away, gangly limbs getting him to the mini-fridge and back in record time. He cracked the seal open before handing it to her, risking spilling it all over her wound if he wasn’t careful━thankfully, Nemo wasn’t that big of an idiot… not at the present moment, anyway. Retrieving the first-aid kit, he stood and dumped it on the counter, rifling through it like a wild animal. Finding the alcohol wipes, he tore open a packet and kneeled in front of her, bringing a roll of gauze and tape with him.
Kneeling between her feet, Nemo glanced up at the woman’s face, offering a tiny, sad smile. It didn’t seem like the time for introductions, but he thought it might make her more comfortable, so he met her halfway. “I’m Nemo. Wish we could’ve met under better circumstances, Evelyn.” He said gently, using the same amount of care and patience to lift her shirt and remove his own bloody, wadded-up heap from underneath. “Do you wanna try a spell? I think it might work better than some poor stitching on my end.” Nemo puffed, beginning to carefully clean her wound with the alcohol wipe. “H-here, put your hand on top of mine. We can try something.” Healing spells were advanced and took strength she might not be able to give him, but they could at least ease her pain. “Asinta Mulaf Hinto, Sho Bala…” He recited, focusing on the spell as he mindlessly sopped up the blood and cleaned the wound, trying to clear enough of a path to see where the wound stopped and ended. It was from a knife, though, and it’d probably need stitches no matter what. He just wished━and not for the first time in his life━that witches had healing abilities like werewolves.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
SHE truly couldn't catch a break no matter what precautions she took. Her father was hellbent on getting his point across, that he wasn't to be denied. Evelyn didn't get it, why was he so pressed on her joining his sick crusade? What did she have that he didn't? What made her so special? She didn't know. All that she was was an ordinary witch, nothing special about that. Did her father know something about her that she didn't? Was she more than what she had believed? Surely not, she had never been anything more than ordinary. Just a witch, one from an extensive bloodline sure, but that was it. Did she possess more power than she had realized? Is that what he wanted from her? Her magic? That wasn't that far stretched as she knew her father wanted to be as powerful as he possibly could, no matter who or what he had to go through in order to make sure that happened. William Monet was sadistic and power hungry. He had resources she couldn't even imagine having, which was why she was so surprised he hadn't made an appearance yet in town. But with the way things were going and with her current... predicament, she was sure that time was coming.
The pain from her wound sent chills down her entire spine. She cursed in pain as she applied more pressure to her wound. Why did she have to get stabbed? She should have been better prepared, should. have been more aware of her surroundings. She had let her guard down and look what happened - she ended up with a knife sized hole in her stomach. While she had been making jokes, it was to cover up the immense pain she was in and to prevent herself from passing out. Seated on the toilet seat, Evelyn watched as the guy carefully gathered supplies to help dress her wound before kneeling down in front of her, bringing a roll of gauze and tape with him to be able to dress the wound and to stop the bleeding.
She knew better than anyone that some gaze probably wouldn't stop the bleeding, not from this extensive of a wound. But at this point she was willing to try anything. Eyes met the guy's black ones as he kneeled down in between her feet, offering up a tiny smile as to try and make her feel better. As if anything could do that after what she had just been through. 'I’m Nemo. Wish we could’ve met under better circumstances, Evelyn.' He replied gently and she returned the small smile as he lifted up her shirt, winching slightly as he did so. Nemo was careful in every one of his movements, making sure not to cause her more harm than necessary. When he lifted her shirt he removed his bloody shirt that had been used to help try and stop the bleeding, even if only slightly. Of all the things that could have happened to her, why did she have to get stabbed?
It was just her luck.
'Do you wanna try a spell? I think it might work better than some poor stitching on my end.' At the mention of a spell Evelyn nodded hastily. "At this point I'll t-try anything." She said, huffing in between each word as to try and catch her breath as he began to carefully clean her wound with the alcohol wipes that had been in the first-aid kit. Healing spells were advanced, but she had faith that the two could try and muster up something that would help ease her pain and at the most heal the wound enough to where she couldn't bleed out. While she may not have the strength to do much, she would do what she could in that moment and placed her hand on top of Nemo's as she chanted alongside of him. "Asinta Mulaf Hinto, Sho Bala…” She recited with him, uttering the small spell to try and stop her bleeding. If this worked, it would be much better than having to sit through stitches. Evelyn put her into all into this spell, using her power alongside of Nemo's to hopefully be able to heal her wound. Anything was better than what she was experiencing, even if it were just a little bit healed, she would take it.
She felt the magic seep into her skin as she chanted, the pain she had been feeling beginning to dissipate the more they recited the healing spell. Evelyn began to feel better within seconds and she knew the spell was working. Even at her weakest, with the help of another witch, their combined power seemed to be enough to help heal up her wound, although she knew she would still feel weak afterwards for a few days after, especially after using so much of her magic at one time. "It's working," she breathed as they finished up the spell. As the spell came to an end she felt her pain slip away and felt her wound begin to heal itself. What a relief this worked, because the last thing she wanted was to go to s hospital to get stitches. One thing she wished she had was the ability to heal herself like other supernatural beings, but like most things, witches got the short end of the stick.

━ the more you suffer, the more it shows you really care ━ ALL NEMO WISHED FOR, for once in his life, was to do something good. To help one person━even if she was technically a stranger. Still, he’d do his best, and, although he’d been told all throughout his life that it was never good enough, he had hope for this time around. This time it would be better, work better. It had to.
And it did.
As they chanted in unison, Nemo glanced up at Evelyn, feeling her become less tense━even by the tiniest amount. It was evident that something was working, which spurred him on, allowing him to pour every ounce of his power into this. She acknowledged it, too, and within a few more moments, Nemo was settling as she did, slowly pulling his hands away to reveal━only blood! Her wound was healing, it looked like barely a scrape now, but it must’ve done a lot more from the inside.
Excited and grateful for the abilities he’d always thought he’d never do enough with, Nemo let his hands drop to the floor, a tired and victorious smile spread over his lips, stretching his own scars. Eventually, Nemo pulled himself to his feet, motioning to the Gatorade he’d handed to her before. “You… you should drink that. For electrolytes.” Or something like that. Nudging the tap on, Nemo diligently washed his hands of the blood, scrubbing pedantically (and a little painfully) under his nails, peering at the orange-ish liquid spilling down the drain. He sighed, wetting a rag next and moving back to kneel in front of Evelyn, this time slow and patient, though his hands were still shaking.
Cleaning up the blood-soaked patch of skin on her abdomen, his other hand went to her hip, long fingers curling around it for support, elbows rested on her thighs. He realized then that it didn’t make much sense to have washed his hands, as he’d need to do it again now, but it was better than spreading even more around. “Wouldja like t’borrow some clothes? I know they’ll… probably be a little big, but at least you won’t have to walk around town with a blood-stained shirt.” Smiling sheepishly, like he wasn’t sure if he could joke about it or not, Nemo stared up at Evelyn again, desperately hoping he was still helpful.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
THIS was honestly just her luck that something like this would happen to her. Until her father was as good as dead, that would be the only time she would ever truly find peace, the only time she would ever allow herself to feel at peace. Would that time ever come? She didn't think so, which was down right depressing. But that was just the life she had to live. Some part of her had to hold on to hope, that the day would come where her father would be long gone and she could live her life in peace, be able to be like any other mid-twenty-year old. Maybe she would even go back to school, get her graduate degree. That had always been the goal, but when what happened in New York happened... that goal, along with most others, went down the drain. All she could focus on was getting stronger and getting rid of her father once and for all. There would come a time when her father would arrive in Mystic Falls and when that time eventually came... she would be ready for him.
She had to be and she had to be better prepared than she was tonight. Evelyn needed to get stronger, needed to stop worrying so much on how others viewed her. She needed to study her grimoires more, try and figure out ways to help protect herself and she was terrified that meant that she would need to tap into the one kind of magic she vowed to never venture into... expression. The same kind of magic that her father used and abused. It was what drove him so crazy, how he became so power hungry. It was all because of the way that magic made him feel and she knew that was what he wanted, for her to join him in his sick crusade, for her to experience the magic he wielded. But she just couldn't bring herself to use such magic, even if it meant making herself stronger. But what if it came down to her using it and dying? Or worse, those she loved dying? Could she bring herself to give in?
She wasn't so sure.
Either way, tonight only further proved her need to get stronger. But thankfully she had Nemo around to help, otherwise she wasn't so sure what would've happened to her. Soon after they finished chanting, her wound healed and she breathed a long sigh of relief. What was a hole in her stomach was nothing more than a mere scrape. Thank god. Evelyn and Nemo both had smiles planted firmly across their lips at their victory. Nemo then motioned toward the gatorade he mentioned to her before and told her she should drink it. Evelyn nodded, agreeing, and picked up the gatorade and opened it, taking several gulps out of it before setting it back down onto the counter just as Nemo had knelt back down in front of her, a wet rag in his hand as he began to clean the blood off of her stomach. "Thanks." She said with a soft smile, appreciative of his help.
'Wouldja like t’borrow some clothes? I know they’ll… probably be a little big, but at least you won’t have to walk around town with a blood-stained shirt.' Evelyn glanced down at her blood-soaked clothes and nodded. "Please. I'll take just about anything else right now to wear." Seriously, anything was better than the clothes she was wearing, baggy or not. It would do her good to not have to walk home covered in blood. Lord knows that would only raise questions by passerby's and that was attention she didn't need. "Thank you again for helping me, seriously. I don't know what would've happened if you hadn't intervened, because you didn't have to. So, thanks." And she meant every word. Nemo didn't have to help a complete stranger, didn't have to put himself at risk like he had, and yet, that was exactly what he had done and she couldn't be more thankful that he had. More than that, she was just grateful to meet another witch in town, someone who she hopefully had on her side, as an ally.

━ the more you suffer, the more it shows you really care ━ EVEN THOUGH HE’D LITERALLY given her the shirt off his back, part of Nemo still worried that she might see him as some sort of monster. The scars on his face turned him into one whether or not there was anything redeemable on the inside━was there? In any case, they both survived, and Evie wasn’t running for the hills yet.
He gave her a soft smile as he stood, turning on the tap with his wrist. Nemo washed his hands again, though it was far easier this time, and left the blood-soaked rag on the edge of the sink’s bowl. It could be dealt with later; his priority right now was ensuring Evie was comfortable. It was like she was under his care, and Nemo thought he kinda liked that━caring for somebody. Just like when he was with Giorgia through her first change.
Pushing the memory away, he left the bathroom to gather some clothes. A t-shirt, sweater, sweatpants with a drawstring (so she could tighten them), and he paused before adding a pair of ankle socks to the pile━just in case. He pulled out an extra t-shirt for himself but didn’t put it on, letting it hang from his hands instead. Nemo slinked back into the small room, placing the stack of folded clothes in a clean spot at the edge of the counter.
He smiled shyly at her gratitude, looking younger from how bashful he immediately became. “No, s’okay, really. No problem at all.” Nemo waved off her thanks. It was a lot more than most would’ve done━if the Agnelli pack was anything to go by━but he strived to be… well, not better than them. That wasn’t fair. He wanted Emiliano to accept him, desperately so, but not at the sacrifice of his morals and the idea of the person he wanted to be. He’d already given up everything because Emiliano told him to, and it hadn’t made his adoptive father love him any more.
“If you wanna shower, you can. I also… uh, you can take a pair of boxers or somethin’ if ya want━if that’s not weird. I just thought, since you’re showering…” He shrugged, cringing a bit at himself. “Obviously, they’re clean.” Nemo added with a soft chuckle, motioning to the eggshell-white shower curtain. “I can get ya some towels, too. Either way, you can relax here for as long as you need, and I can walk ya home.” It seemed like the right thing to do━why in the hell would he let her leave by herself after something like that?
The t-shirt still hung from Nemo’s scraped and somewhat-stained hands, keeping him bare from the waist up as he stood there. A few scars peppered his chest and a single shoulder, but it looked practically untouched compared to his face. There was the appendix scar near one edge of his Adonis’ Belt, all lean muscle down his torso, but that didn’t count━not really.
“I’ll prob’ly grab one after ya if you go in,” He added, staring down at the dark fabric in his hands. It didn’t make sense to put on something clean if he was just going to get it dirty, right? There wasn’t any logic to that.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
IT was one thing after another and she was beginning to worry that this would be an every day occurrence with her father's men. Which meant that she needed to get stronger, test her own limits in order to protect herself. She knew there were ways to grow her magic, to enable her to actually fight back and to not rely on others to save her. Evelyn hated, and she meant she hated, having to be saved all the damn time and ever since her father found out that she was here in Mystic Falls, that had been frequent. First Cas, and now Nemo. It was damn ridiculous and she was growing tired of it. Could they not just leave her alone? She knew the answer to that all too well and the answer was no way in hell. Until her father got what he wanted from her, they would never leave her alone. He would never leave her alone, not until he either got her magic or she joined him. And if it were up to her, neither of those things would happen. She would rather die than join him and his sick crusade.
But she couldn't worry about that right now. For now, she was safe. She had Nemo to thank for that, who seemed kinda reluctant to even be around her, or even to look at her directly. Was it his scars? Did he think she would run away just because of what he looked like? She wasn't that shallow. Evelyn didn't care what he looked like honestly, he had saved her ass. She was more grateful than anything else. So if he thought some scars would cause her to run, he thought wrong. He wasn't a monster, she knew what those looked like and she was related to one. Was actively running from one ever since she was a child. She didn't think she would ever find peace. The only way that would ever happen? Was if her father was ten feet under with no hope of ever returning to the land of the living.
Evelyn sat on the top of the toilet as she watched Nemo walked out of the bathroom to get her some fresh clothes. It didn't take him long before he was back and setting a pile of clothes onto the edge of the counter. Green eyes looked at what he had brought her - A t-shirt, sweater, sweatpants with a drawstring and a pair of ankle socks. Evelyn smiled, grateful for the change of clothes. "Thank you." She said, thanking him once more as he told her how she could shower if she wanted to and she nodded, eager to wash the blood and stench off of her body and then she laughed softly as he began to ramble, as she noticed he tended to do when speaking to her. "That would be great. You can set them on the counter, and the towels too." She said, motioning towards the pile of clothes he had been generous enough to provide for her. Learning over, Evelyn reached down and turned on the shower, turning the setting hot as she let the water warm up.
'Either way, you can relax here for as long as you need, and I can walk ya home.' Evelyn smiled, "I know I've said it plenty already, but thank you. I appreciate it more than you know, for everything. I don't know what would've happened had you not been there." And damn did she mean every word. With her being as outnumbered as she was, there was no way in hell she could have fended them all off all by herself, not in this condition, not with her being so damn weak, so useless. All she knew, was that as soon as she got home, she was going to rest up and then tomorrow.... tomorrow she would begin preparing. Evelyn would be damned if she let this happen again.
Hearing Nemo state how he would take a shower after her, she only nodded, giving him a small smile. "Sounds good. I won't take long, I promise." She said as she gently ushered him out of the bathroom and then closed the door. Taking off her clothes, Evelyn stepped into the hot shower and let out a sigh of relief as the hot water touched her skin.
