Cassandra really did feel bad about what she had put Sebastian and Penny through. They were the only people who had always been there for her and she knew that she would have been lost without them long ago. They had kept her going and to begin with she had thought that there must have been some kind of a mistake when she had sensed her death but as time went on she had realised that was just wishful thinking and she had done her best to get her affairs in order. She still regretted not being able to say a proper goodbye to them but she had at least had the chance to make some good memories with them while she’d had the chance. “If it came down to a choice between you living or I then I would choose you every time,” Cassandra assured him. She knew that Sebastian wasn’t perfect and that he had hurt a lot of people in the past but she also knew that he was a good person. He was the guy she had fallen in love with all those years ago and he was the guy that she still loved now. He had changed his ways and she was beyond proud of him for that. She hadn’t told Sebastian or Penny about how the way she had sensed her death before it happened at the time but she had come clean to Penny after she’d been brought back and she knew that she owed it to Sebastian to be honest with him now as well. “You could say that,” she nodded as he said it must have been jarring. “I didn’t want to believe it at first but the feeling didn’t go away so I knew it had to be true,” she explained. She had always trusted her instincts and she had known that there was no getting out of it that time so she had done her best to enjoy the time she’d had instead. “I’m glad, you deserve to have people like that in your life,” she said, a smile forming on her face as she looked over at Sebastian. “If you like it here that much then I’m sure I will too,” she added, knowing that she wasn’t going to leave without him. She had felt like a missing piece had been returned to her when she realised that Penny had been the one to have her brought back but finding Sebastian now she finally felt completely whole again. As Sebastian said he had only ever wanted her to be happy as well, Cassandra felt her smile return and she let her hand rest gently against his cheek. “Can I kiss you?” she breathed as she lifted her eyes to meet his. She knew that she could have just gone ahead and done it but the truth was that she didn’t want to overstep if Sebastian needed time so it felt right to ask. So much had changed since she had died and even though she had been able to watch occasionally from the Other Side she had yet to experience any of those changes for herself and the truth was that she couldn’t wait to do that. She wasn’t entirely sure what to make of sparkling drinks so far based on what Sebastian had told her but she knew that there was only one way that she would find out and that was by giving them a try. Cassandra’s expression turned thoughtful for a moment as Sebastian said that vampires were very common in Mystic Falls. “How is that possible?” she asked. Sebastian had been able to fly under the radar back in Roanoke but he was only one person. More were sure to attract attention so she couldn’t deny that she was intrigued. As he continued, she found herself nodding. “I’ve heard of a phone, Penny insisted I have one but I don’t really know how to use it,” she admitted. Such things hadn’t existed before she’d died so at the moment she knew how to hit the screen and make her sister’s voice come out of the device but that was about it. “It sounds like I’ll have to keep my eyes open around here,” she said, knowing that she didn’t want a repeat performance of what had happened when Sebastian had found her. “How are so any living in one town?” she asked, unable to deny that she was curious. “Has something been drawing them here?” she added, unable to deny that she had felt a certain pull towards the town as well. It wasn’t long before the food arrived and as Sebastian said they should dig in, Cassandra began tucking into her food and a pleased hum left her lips after the first bite. “This is delicious,” she said, a smile touching her lips as she took a second bite. THIS IS A CRUEL WORLD AND I EXPECT very LITTLE FROM IT.
If it came down to a choice between you living or I then I would choose you every time,
Sebastian felt a small smile touch his lips at that before he gently shook his head. "Then I would not be living. Not truly. There's no me if there's no you, Cassie." He spoke in a rather calm voice, but his words were honest, as always. He saw no value in this act they call living without Cassandra by his side. He was miserable without her, up until this very point when she wandered right back into his life and settled cross-legged in his heart with such ease.
You could say that, I didn’t want to believe it at first but the feeling didn’t go away so I knew it had to be true, I’m glad, you deserve to have people like that in your life, If you like it here that much then I’m sure I will too, Can I kiss you?
"I'm sorry, love. I'm so sorry. I hope you never have to experience that feeling ever again." Sebastian was going to make sure that she never experienced that sort of pain again. Ever. He was going to stay by her side and he was going to protect her. That's not to say that she can't protect herself, she was mighty capable of doing that but he was going to help her, anyway. He wasn't going to watch the light in her eyes fade ever again. He wasn't going to put her through that pain ever again. "My life is even better now that you are back in it." His voice was gentle as he spook, his eyes focused solely on Cassandra, afraid that if he looked away for even a second, she'd disappear from between his fingers yet again. His eyes slowly moved down to Cassandra's lips before he leaned forward slowly to connect their lips in lieu of giving her a verbal answer to her question. He'd been suppressing that urge ever since he laid eyes on her again. He released a soft sigh against Cassandra's lips when he felt those familiar lips against his own. Oh how he'd missed them. His hand moved to cup Cassandra's cheek, keeping her close while passionately moving his lips against hers. He eventually leaned away from the kiss, his eyes slowly opening to meet Cassandra's before his lips stretched into a crooked smile. "I've missed this. So much."
How is that possible? I’ve heard of a phone, Penny insisted I have one but I don’t really know how to use it,
"That was exactly my reaction, but apparently times have changed." He said with a quick nod of his head following. He'd been quite confused, too. He thought that he'd be back to feeling like he was the most powerful guy in town, but he was very wrong. People were afraid of vampires still, but not like back then. "I'll teach you. We have all the time in the world. There's no reason to do it all at once, it will get really confusing if you do that." Sebastian said with a quick nod. He attempted to understand all the changes at the same time but it confused the hell out of him. So he wasn't going to repeat the same mistake with Cassandra.
It sounds like I’ll have to keep my eyes open around here, How are so many living in one town? Has something been drawing them here? This is delicious,
"Yes, it's best not to let your guard down completely." Sebastian had been doing the same. Always on guard, never growing too trusting. He was always aware of his surroundings. "I'm not quite sure. It's quite strange." Sebastian gnawed on his inner cheek for a moment before he nodded his head slowly. "I think so, yes. That's what I have heard, at least. Apparently, a town like this is a beacon for the supernatural." Sebastian said with a quick shrug of his shoulders following. Once the food arrived, he encouraged her to dig in and took it upon himself to watch her for a moment with a fond look on his face. Seeing her like this really filled his chest with so much warmth. He'd missed her. Terribly so. "Right? It's amazing." Sebastian had grown to love human food. It was quite delicious. He started digging into his own food as well and once his plate was empty, he leaned back on his seat with a satisfied smile on his lips. He reached for the napkin to wipe the edges of his mouth from any crumbs of food or smears of sauce there before he folded his napkin and placed it aside. "Are you full? I could order another serving for you in case you're still hungry."

Sebastian’s words were enough to have Cassandra’s heart leaping. It had been so long since they had last seen each other but for her it was like very little time had passed at all and it seemed that it was the same for him. Nothing had changed between them, not really, and she knew that she wouldn’t have it any other way. She had told Penny that they had needed to seek Sebastian out so that they could find his key but there was so much more to it than that. Cassandra had wanted to find him again so that she could have the chance to see him again, even if it ended up only being one last time. She had meant it when she had said then she would choose to save him every time, she had known what she was doing before and she didn’t regret her decision one bit, her only regret was that her time with Sebastian and Penny had been cut short. “I feel the same, I guess we’ll just have to make sure we both stay safe then,” she said. Last time she had known she was going to die so it had seemed inevitable but this time she had been given a second chance and she knew that she would fight tooth and nail to hold onto it and keep the people she loved safe at the same time. “You have nothing to be sorry for, there wasn’t anything that you or anyone else could have done,” Cassandra assured him. Nothing could have changed what happened anyway so she didn’t want Sebastian thinking that there was something that he could have done to stop it. “So do I. I’ve been given another chance and I’m going to make the most of it.” That was something that she felt certain about. She really hadn’t known how it would go when she saw Sebastian again but the truth was that seeing him again was enough to make her feel like she’d found a missing piece of herself just like she had felt when she had seen Penny again. There were very few people in her life that she had loved and been able to hold onto but they were the two people who meant the most to her in the world and she knew that she wasn’t going to take that for granted. “You always know just the right things to say to make my heart melt,” she said, a smile touching her lips as her eyes met his. Moments later she was asking if she could kiss him and instead of answering his lips met hers and she stepped closer to him, wrapping her arms around his neck as she kissed him back passionately. The feeling of his lips against hers was something that she had never thought that she would get to experience again even when she found him so she allowed herself to get lost in it for a moment before keeping her arms around his neck as he eventually leaned away. “So have I. I never thought we’d get to do this again,” she admitted. It seemed too good to be true but even if it was then she knew that she didn’t want it to end. “I’m starting to see that,” Cassandra nodded as Sebastian said that times had changed. Nothing was the way it had been when she had died and she had started getting used to some of the changes but she knew that there was still so much that she didn’t yet know. “I’d really like that,” she admitted as Sebastian said that he would teach her. He had more experience of this new world than she did so she wanted to learn as much as she could from him so that she didn’t have to rely on Penny all the time. She was used to being the one that others went to when they needed someone, not the other way around. “Have the other students at the school you’re going to been helping you?” she asked, hoping that he hadn’t had to figure all of this out on his own. “Don’t worry, I learned not to do that a long time ago,” Cassandra admitted. Ever since her parents died she had been keeping her guard up and there had been a couple of people along the way who had worked their way through the walls that she had built up around herself but for the most part she didn’t let people get through it that easily and that still hadn’t changed. “I’d heard rumours about towns like this but never seen one for myself,” she said, looking around them for a moment before letting her gaze return to Sebastian. Rumours had spread during her time the same way they likely did now, albeit much slower. Even so she had heard about towns that seemed to attract the supernatural to them but now she understood why as she had felt that same pull to Mystic Falls herself. “It is,” she agreed, a smile forming on her face as she looked over at Sebastian and realised that he had been watching her the same way he had done so many times before. Finally she finished her meal and as Sebastian said he could order more in case she was still hungry, Cassandra shook her head. “No, I don’t think I could eat another bite,” she admitted as she sat back in her chair before her gaze came to rest on the pool tables. “What is that game they’re playing?” she asked, unable to deny that she was intrigued. THIS IS A CRUEL WORLD AND I EXPECT very LITTLE FROM IT.
I feel the same, I guess we’ll just have to make sure we both stay safe then, You have nothing to be sorry for, there wasn’t anything that you or anyone else could have done, So do I. I’ve been given another chance and I’m going to make the most of it.
Sebastian felt a soft smile tug at his lips at Cassandra's words before he nodded his head in agreement. "That would do." Sebastian had no plans to get himself involved in danger again. He knew better than to allow that side of him to win again. He had caused enough terror back then and right now, he felt no urge to repeat that again. Not only that, but he didn't want to be feared anymore. Cassandra was the one who changed him and made him become a better person. Sebastian's lips parted to let out a soft sigh at Cassandra's words before he nodded his head slowly in agreement, knowing that there was nothing he could have done that would have stopped Cassandra from dying. The world was cruel in that way where if it set its mind to take someone away, the world would always succeed, no matter how hard he tried to stop it from happening. "I'm not letting you go again, not after finally finding you again."
You always know just the right things to say to make my heart melt, So have I. I never thought we’d get to do this again, I’m starting to see that, I’d really like that, Have the other students at the school you’re going to been helping you?
"Careful, love. You're inflating my ego quite a bit. I don't think my ego has any room left to grow bigger." Sebastian teased with a crooked grin forming on his lips, slipping more and more into himself as the sadness he was experiencing for so long began to lift away now that he had Cassandra back in his life again. "Me neither, love. This is way better than I remember." Sebastian's eyes rested momentarily on Cassandra's lips, the urge to pull her back in for a kiss nearly consuming him whole, but he held back. For now. "I'm quite glad that we are, though."
"The world is a lot more open-minded now. Things that seemed taboo back in our time no longer seem that way now. I have seen women and men in the same-sex relationship, and it is displayed to the public with no shame. The universe really is evolving." Back then, they would have been hung or burnt alive for being in a forbidden relationship, but now... The world was just a bit kinder. "Yes. I have been also helping a student tame his hunger. He was recently brought back to life, and he's been facing issues with controlling his thirst. I see myself in him in a way, so I vowed to help him in any possible way that I can." Sebastian revealed with a quick nod of his head. He still had troubles accepting help from strangers, but he was slowly getting better at it.
Don’t worry, I learned not to do that a long time ago, I’d heard rumours about towns like this but never seen one for myself, It is, No, I don’t think I could eat another bite, What is that game they’re playing?
"That's my girl." Sebastian said with a soft smile forming on his lips. "Same here. I never thought that this type of town would ever exist, but here it is." He nodded his head in agreement with Cassandra because he was quite full himself. His eyes followed Cassandra, and he let out a small chuckle as he pushed himself up. "It is a game where the main goal is to push the balls in the sockets, I believe. I do not understand the rules, but it's quite fun from what I have seen. Come on, let's try it out, love."

All of this felt so surreal to Cassandra right now and she had a feeling that it would take a while for it to truly sink in that Sebastian was really here. When she was brought back she was told that the warlock who had pulled her back from the Other Side had done so in exchange for the dark object that she had hidden away before she’d died. Penny still had her key and Cassandra had been able to retrieve her own but the third belonged to Sebastian. She had promised to find him so they could get the key from him but from Cassandra’s point of view it was nothing more than a ruse. She had wanted to find Sebastian because she loved him and even though she had felt certain that he would have moved on a long time ago she had needed to see him at least one more time. She needed to find a way to get Penny away from the warlock since Cassandra couldn’t shake the feeling that the guy was bad news but right now she wanted nothing more than to forget all of that and just enjoy this time with Sebastian. “I’m not going anywhere, not without you,” Cassandra assured him. She had hated putting Sebastian and Penny through all of that but there wasn’t anything that she could have done that wouldn’t have resulted in countless more innocent lives being lost. It had been a case of either she died or a lot of people would have done including Sebastian and perhaps Penny as well. That was something that she had known that she couldn’t risk so she had let the hunter take her life but she knew that things were different now. The supernatural world was much bigger than it had been all those years ago and she could sense the power in Mystic Falls. Things were different here and she would fight tooth and nail to make sure that she didn’t end up leaving the people she loved behind again. As Sebastian said that she was inflating his ego, she couldn’t help but laugh. “Don’t worry, I know a few ways to bring you back down to earth,” she teased. It really was good to see Sebastian smile, he had been through so much and she really wouldn’t have blamed him if he had hated her for being the reason why he had remained desiccated for so long. He didn’t seem to feel that way towards her at all though and for that she really was grateful. “It is. Everything is so different now but it means we get to start over,” she nodded. There was a lot that they needed to talk about and figure out but she knew that all of that could wait for the time being. “That’s something I never thought would happen,” she admitted as Sebastian said that same sex relationships were accepted out in the open now. It had never been that way during the time she was born into and just the thought of relationships like that were seen as wrong so she knew that things really had changed. “I’m glad you’ve had help and I’m proud of you for helping him,” she said gently as she gave Sebastian’s hand a light squeeze. “It sounds like you’ve found a kindred spirit.” She knew that Sebastian had given into his own bloodlust in the past but he had been working hard to keep that under control when they were together before and she knew that he would be doing the same thing now. “Always,” Cassandra grinned, unable to ignore the way her heart fluttered as Sebastian called her his girl. “It seems like a nice place. I think we could be happy here,” she admitted. She didn’t want Sebastian to have to leave the school that had taken him in behind and she would be lying if she said that she hadn’t thought about starting to build a life in a place just like this. It all hinged on being able to get Penny away from the warlock, though, so she knew that she didn’t want to get her hopes up just yet. “I’d like that,” she admitted as Sebastian explained what he knew about the game before suggesting they give it a try. Getting to her feet, she followed him over to the nearest table and glanced over at others who were playing for a moment to see what they were doing. “It looks like we need this to begin with,” she said, lifting the plastic triangle off the hook on the side of the table so they could rack up the balls. THIS IS A CRUEL WORLD AND I EXPECT very LITTLE FROM IT.
“Very well, then. It’s settled. We’re stuck with each other.” Sebastian said with a half-smile tugging at the corner of his lips to showcase he was joking about the last part. He was quite content right next to Cassandra. It almost didn’t feel real to be able to talk to her like this. It felt like he was hallucinating her existence but he knew better. She was very real. It seemed like for once, he was dealt something in his favor. The thought of losing her again made his stomach feel like it was tied up in knots.
Sebastian released a chuckle at Cassandra’s words, nodding his head once. “I have no doubt in my mind about that.” She did know him better than most. Sebastian hummed at her next words. It was definitely an optimistic outtake on all of this. Sebastian didn’t hate that in the slightest. “We’ll adapt.” He said with a nod of his head following. “And start anew, like you said.” He added a moment later. “Ah, yes. I suppose this generation is learning quite a bit from the mistakes of our ancestors. I quite like it. Doesn’t feel as suffocating anymore.”
Sebastian’s lips stretched into half a smile at Cassandra’s words. “I wasn’t as fortunate back in my time and perhaps if I had someone to guide me, I wouldn’t have succumbed to this immense power. I just don’t wish for someone to repeat my mistakes, that’s all.” Sebastian added, a soft smile tugging at the corner of his lips as he spoke. “It seems that way, yes.” He was going to try his hardest to make sure that Axel doesn’t succumb to the hunger the same way that he had in the past. There was simply nothing worse than losing your humanity.
“Yes, I feel the same way, too.” Sebastian said with a gentle smile tugging at the corner of his lips when Cassandra mentioned that they could be happy here. Once they were both ready to try the game out, he began following Cassandra. He glanced over at the other table, watching them rather curiously. “That’s correct.” He nodded his head as he reached for the… stick and held it, mimicking the man’s movements. “And we’ll use this to hit the balls.” He gestured at the racked up balls. “Seems easy enough, no? I believe we’re gonna have to make up our own rules from here on, though. The one who knocks the most balls wins?” Sebastian wasn’t all too concerned about how to play the game correctly, all he cared about was having fun and that’s it.

“I like the sound of that,” Cassandra admitted, a smile touching her lips as Sebastian said that they were stuck with each other. This was something that never should have been possible, Cassandra had died years before but Penny had found a way to bring her back. Cassandra knew that there were strings attached since the warlock responsible for her resurrection wanted the dark object she’d hidden away so long ago but she knew that she wasn’t going to hand it over. The thought of leaving Sebastian and Penny behind again scared her and she was determined to make sure that didn’t happen again so she knew that she needed to be careful and make sure she got to stay with the people she loved this time around. The sound of Sebastian’s laugh was enough to draw a smile to Cassandra’s lips once more. She had missed that laugh more than she had realised but there was something genuine about it this time around, there was no need to worry or try and hide anything right now and it was a relief to say the least. Cassandra wouldn’t have blamed Sebastian for moving on but his feelings for her didn’t seem to have changed and neither had hers so she honestly hoped that this time around they would get the chance to give it a real go. “We always do,” she nodded as he said that they would adapt. No matter what life had thrown their way in the past they had always faced it together and she had no reason to believe that this time would be any different. “I like the idea of starting over with you,” she admitted. Penny would be around too, of course, but her sister had lived lifetimes without her during the time that had followed since she’d died and Cassandra wouldn’t be surprised if her sister would still want some of her independence now. “It really doesn’t. I like what I’ve seen of this era so far, people seem much happier than they were back then and there’s so much more to do. It’s exciting, really,” she said, her smile returning as she looked over at Sebastian. She didn’t doubt that people probably took certain things for granted but to someone experiencing it all for the first time it was something that she wanted to cherish. “That’s a very nice thing of you to do,” Cassandra said, her tone gentle as she spoke. “I know how much you regret your past so I’m sure he appreciates everything you’re doing for him.” Before they met Sebastian was a completely different person but Cassandra had gone into this with her eyes wide open and she didn’t regret it one bit. He had made mistakes in the past but he had learned from them and he seemed to want to do things differently this time around so she really was proud of him for that. “He’s lucky to have you looking out for him.”When they first arrived in Mystic Falls Cassandra hadn’t known that this was where she would end up wanting to stay but learning that Sebastian was in town and that he had made a life for himself here was enough to make that decision for her. She loved him and they had already been separated once so she knew that she wanted to make sure that that didn’t happen again. “That sounds simple enough,” Cassandra nodded as Sebastian said they would use the stick to hit the balls and try to get them into the pockets. “It looks like we need to hit this white ball against the others to get them into the pockets,” she said once she had finished putting all of the balls into the triangle and held the white ball out to him. “That sounds like a good idea to me, you can go first,” she grinned, knowing that she would much rather see someone else try it before she had a go herself.
