THIS IS A CRUEL WORLD AND I EXPECT very LITTLE FROM IT.
Sebastian was not the type of person to hesitate but right now, he was hesitating quite a bit as he lingered in front of the door that led to the psychic’s reading room. He had heard mixed things about this woman, he had heard she was nothing more than a scam, but also he’d heard that she’d brought closure to those in desperate need of it by communicating with the dead. Sebastian wanted to give it a try because there was someone he desperately wanted to talk to and it was none other than Cassandra. He missed her quite a lot, actually. He missed the sound of her voice, the gentleness of her touch, he missed having her by his side. Sebastian finally knocked on the door once before opening the door and stepping inside the dark room that was lit only by a couple of candles on the woman’s table.
”Hello, I’m Sebastian. I believe we talked briefly on the phone?” Ah, yes, Sebastian had finally learned how to make calls with that odd device and truth be told, it was a rather confusing experience but he was glad that he managed to get it done, at the very least. ”Oh, yes. Have a seat, Sebastian.” She gestured in front of her and Sebastian gladly did just that as his blue eyes remained fixed on the woman. ”So how does this usually work?” Sebastian asked, his curiosity grabbing hold of him. The woman soon explained how it worked for her and it sounded rather … fascinating, but perhaps the woman did not feel that way. She was talking to the dead, after all.
”The woman I wish to speak to, her name is Cassandra. Cassandra Bartlett. Beautiful golden hair and striking blue eyes. On the shorter side, has a rather soft voice.” He described his ex-lover to the woman sitting in front of him who took it all in with a nod of her head. Her eyes soon drifted away from him to settle on something, or rather, someone. He couldn’t see what that person was and it was not long after that he realized she was talking to a dead person. There was a conversation that he didn’t quite hear, or understand for that matter, and her eyes soon relaxed on him again. ”Are you sure that she’s dead?” It was a question that sent a shiver down his spine as his brows furrowed in confusion. ”I saw her get killed right before my eyes, of course I’m sure.” Sebastian answered almost immediately but then the woman’s eyes soon softened. ”Are you sure she’s still dead?” Sebastian’s lips parted to let out a shaky breath as his eyes widened slightly.
”Are you… Are you suggesting that she might be alive?” Sebastian questioned, his voice shaking slightly as he felt a whole new emotion settle in his chest but he wasn’t sure what that emotion was. Was he happy? Hopeful? A mixture of both? He wasn’t too sure. Sebastian stood up almost immediately after seeing the woman nod, offering him a small smile. He reached into his pocket to give the woman all the money he had on him before he turned out and rushed out of the room, although he wasn’t sure where to even go.
Once he was out of the apartment complex entirely, he walked and walked, his blue eyes searching his surroundings left and right. ”Please…” His eyes relaxed at the sky above, the darkness of the sky made him feel like he was staring into the void. ”Let me see her one more time…” Sebastian pleaded with the void, hoping that somebody or something was listening to him. He hoped that, for once, the deities above would be kind on him. That this cruel world would spare him some kindness for once.
Sebastian’s eyes soon relaxed on his surroundings as he took a moment to really look at each and every face that passed by him but he found none which seemed to anger the vampire who clenched his fist and smashed it into a nearby brick wall, repeating it again and again until there was blood dripping from the hundred tears in his hand which healed soon enough. Sebastian’s heightened hearing picked on a scream that seemed to shake the town apart and it was the kind of distraction that he needed as he used his speed to reach where that scream had come from and rather than joining the predator, he killed it as he shoved his hand into the vampire’s back until he closed his fingers around the man’s heart then roughly pulled his hand out which was now smeared with blood. As the body dropped down on the ground, Sebastian’s cold blue eyes relaxed on the victim and he could’ve sworn time had slowed down as his eyes met none other than Cassandra’s.
It was her.
”C–Cassandra?” Sebastian’s voice trembled as the heart he held in his hand dropped onto the ground next to the deceased vampire, his eyes filling with tears as he came face to face with his ex-lover for the first time in hundreds of years and it was something that brought up thousands of suppressed emotions back to the surface again.

It had been centuries since Cassandra had last been able to move among the living and she knew that it was going to take some getting used to. When she’d died she had ended up on the Other Side alone and she had quickly come to realise that her parents must have moved on and found peace. The offer had been made for her to do so as well but the truth was that she hadn’t wanted to abandon Penny completely. While it was true that she couldn’t talk to her sister or really be there for her when she needed it, Cassandra had still been able to take comfort from the fact that she could at least watch over her sister from afar. She had wanted to do the same for Sebastian but she hadn’t been able to find him and that had worried her. She had desiccated him and hidden him away so that the hunters wouldn’t find him but more than anything she had wanted him to have the chance to live and she could only hope that he’d had the chance to build a good life for himself. Penny had played a part in bringing her back, after all her sister’s blood had been needed for the spell, and Cassandra was overjoyed to be around her sister again but at the same time she couldn’t deny that she was a little wary. She didn’t trust the man that her sister was working with one bit, he wanted the dark object that Cassandra had sworn to keep safe all those years ago and Cassandra got the impression that he wanted it for the wrong reasons so she knew that she was going to have to find a way to convince Penny of that sooner or later but for now she wasn’t too worried about that. She had retrieved her key to the box that contained the dark object and Penny had hers but Sebastian hopefully still had his and the fourth would have no doubt been passed down to a descendant of her coven’s elder so she knew that the man had a long way to go yet before he was able to even get close to getting what he wanted. Figuring out their next move wasn’t easy but as far as Cassandra was concerned there was only one place that she wanted to be right now and that’s wherever Sebastian was. A locator spell had indicated that he was in a town called Mystic Falls and after convincing Penny and the man that that was where they needed to go next, that was exactly what they had done. Cassandra had arrived in town a few hours before and she had decided to head out on her own so that she could get a feel for the town but she hadn’t realised just how many supernaturals would be in town. The vampire managed to catch her by surprise and his fangs pierced her neck before she could even form a spell on her tongue. Instead a scream escaped her and with it she released a burst of magic that pushed the vampire away from her. She was ready to fight but it had been a long time she wasn’t quite quick enough. The vampire advanced on her again and she was half way through the spell when the vampire stopped and moments later he dropped to the ground. Cassandra’s gaze fell to the body on the floor and lingered there for a moment before she heard her name and she looked up to see the person she had been longing to see standing before her. “Sebastian,” she said, blinking away her own tears as she quickly used her magic to heal her neck so he wouldn’t be tempted before stepping forward and wrapping her arms around him. “I can’t believe it’s you,” she breathed, the memory of the last time she had seen him flashing before her eyes in an instant. “I’m so glad you’re okay.”SEBASTIAN GRAVES

THIS IS A CRUEL WORLD AND I EXPECT very LITTLE FROM IT.
Sebastian did not believe that the world was truly capable of showing him any sort of kindness, having always struggled from such a young age, he grew pessimistic. He hated the world for being unkind to creatures and people like him but now, it felt like the world was showing him a glimpse of kindness, after all. Sebastian wondered if he should pinch himself to see whether or not he was dreaming, but he was worried that if he was dreaming, it would wake him up and he really didn’t want to wake up. He wanted to remain in this moment for as long as possible. His eyes relaxed on Cassandra, his eyes filled with so many emotions for the first time. So far, Sebastian had been masking his true feelings but now, it was all pouring out of him, whether he wanted that or not.
The way his name fell from her lips made him feel like no time had passed at all. Like he hadn’t watched her get killed right before his eyes as she died protecting his whereabouts from those hunters. Like he hadn’t spent centuries in that box mourning the loss of his lover who believed in him more than his parents had ever done. She was everything to Sebastian and for the first time, he had allowed himself to care and to love, only for the world to use that against him and hurt him in the worst way possible.
Sebastian’s eyes moved from Cassandra’s eyes to settle on her neck, the sight and smell of her blood reaching him and it took a few moments for his gums to start to ache but when Cassandra used her magic to heal her wound, the temptation stopped and he felt eternally grateful for it because he’d simply never be able to forgive himself if he ever hurt her. When Cassandra stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him in a hug, he finally came to the conclusion that all of this was real and it seemed to break the dam that held him together all these years and his arms immediately wrapped around her smaller form as he buried his face in the crook of her neck, breathing her in to reassure himself. ”Cassandra…” He repeated, his voice slightly muffled by the flesh of her neck as his hold on her seemed to tighten, afraid that she’d disappear into thin air the second she’s out of his arms. ”I never thought I’d see you again,” Sebastian’s hand moved to settle on the back of Cassandra’s head, his hand getting lost in her hair as his fingers seemed to slowly comb through her strands. He pulled back slightly, letting his forehead rest against Cassandra’s as he allowed himself a moment or so to gather his bearings before he finally leaned back a little bit, blue eyes scanning Cassandra’s face as his hand moved to cup her cheek in a gentle manner. ”You have no idea how many times I’ve dreamed of this moment.” And every day, he’d be swallowed by disappointment that it was all a dream. ”I’ve missed you.” He whispered in a soft voice, tears still visible in his eyes. ”How are you here? I saw you…” Die. Sebastian trailed off, the word residing bitterly on his tongue. He just couldn’t bring himself to say it.

It had been such a long time since Cassandra had died and the truth was that she wasn’t entirely sure what to make of this new world. She had been given something called a cell phone so that her sister could get in touch with her at any time but aside from pressing the green button that somehow appeared on the screen along with her sister’s name and photo when she called, Cassandra had no idea how to use the thing. So much had changed since she had died, she had spent around five hundred years stuck on the Other Side from what she had been told and she hoped that in time she would get used to the way things were now but at times it was a little overwhelming to say the least. She had gone with Penny to track down her key and after that Cassandra had promised that she would track down Sebastian since she had given one of the keys to him and his blood was needed to open the box as well but the truth was that she was nervous. She had given her life to keep him safe and she knew that she would make the same decision again in a heartbeat if she had to. She had always trusted her instincts when it came to people and they had served her pretty well so far so she knew that she had to continue trusting them now. Sebastian was a good guy and the guy that Penny was working with wasn’t at all. Cassandra still loved Sebastian and she was pretty sure that a part of her always would but more than anything she wanted him to be happy. She knew that he would have moved on from her a long time ago and she would be happy for him if that was the case but at the same time she knew that it wouldn’t be easy to see him with someone else. She had only just arrived in town and even though she had known that Sebastian was in Mystic Falls she definitely hadn’t expected him to be the one to find her when another vampire decided to attack her but she couldn’t deny that she was pleased to see him and for a moment it was easy to wrap her arms around him and hold on to him the way she always used to. Before he came into her life she had spent her time doing right by everyone else and not even taking the time to consider what would make her really happy. Sebastian was different to everyone she had met before, he had taught her that her happiness mattered too and he had taught her to love in a way that she never had before. She was happy with him before she died. No matter what happened she knew that she was never going to forget that. It wasn’t long before Sebastian was wrapping his arms around her in return and Cassandra was able to take comfort from that instantly. He held onto her tightly but not tight enough to hurt and after what had happened she felt safe. “I thought the same about you,” she admitted. The locator spell had brought her to Mystic Falls but even so she hadn’t thought that she would get to see him again, or at least not alive. It seemed so surreal to be in his arms again now but it felt right, just like it always had done. His fingers combed through her hair and Cassandra felt a gentle smile form on her face at the familiar gesture. As Sebastian’s forehead rested against hers, Cassandra brought her hand up and let it rest gently against his cheek. “I’ve missed you too. I tried to look for you from the Other Side but I couldn’t find you, I feared you’d died,” she breathed, leaning into his touch as her own hand moved to wipe his tears away. “I know you did and I’m so sorry,” she said gently, knowing that he would probably never be able to forget that image. “Penny brought me back, she’s working with someone who wants the dark object I hid but the guy is bad news so I’m just playing along until I can make her see sense,” she explained. “I did a locator spell it showed me you were here but I wasn’t sure what I was going to find when I got here.”SEBASTIAN GRAVES

THIS IS A CRUEL WORLD AND I EXPECT very LITTLE FROM IT.
I’ve missed you too. I tried to look for you from the Other Side but I couldn’t find you, I feared you’d died,
Sebastian leaned into her touch, unable to stop himself as his eyes fluttered shut momentarily but then they opened again when he heard the sound of Cassandra's voice. "That must have been hard for you, not knowing what had become of me." He sympathized, his voice remaining barely above a whisper, his words meant only for Cassandra to hear. He released a shaky breath when he felt her wipe his tears away. He slightly tilted his head so he could press a gentle kiss against Cassandra's palm before his eyes relaxed on her again, lips stretching to form a brief smile when she apologized to him. "You have nothing to apologize for, Cassandra. What matters is that you are here now,"
It was a miracle. Most of the time, what dies stays dead, but in cases like these, he's so goddamn glad that Cassandra didn't stay dead. He'd dreamed of this moment for so long that now he's entirely skeptical about it being real. But he knew the warmth of her touch, and the sound of her voice better than anything and it felt real. Sebastian had never experienced pure happiness ever since his return to the land of the living which might be depressing to think about, but right now, he was beginning to feel light waves of that one singular emotion that elevated the weight on his shoulders and heart. For once, he felt happy.
Penny brought me back, she’s working with someone who wants the dark object I hid but the guy is bad news so I’m just playing along until I can make her see sense, I did a locator spell it showed me you were here but I wasn’t sure what I was going to find when I got here.
Sebastian was quiet as he listened to Cassandra, his brows furrowing slightly before he nodded his head once in an understanding manner. "Just... be careful. Let me know if you need my help." Sebastian's voice was soft as he spoke. He didn't want to lose her right after getting her back. "Oh, I was going to try to reach out to you through a psychic but she couldn't find you. She said you might be alive. I was going to turn this whole bloody town upside down looking for you." He admitted, his blue eyes relaxing on the witch before him. His ex-lover. The woman who meant quite a lot to Sebastian.
"I'm so glad I found you." Sebastian whispered as he leaned forward to press a gentle kiss against her forehead, his lips lingering against her skin for a moment before he drew back, staring at her without saying anything for a little bit of time before he finally seemed to blink out of it. "My apologies," Sebastian apologized for his staring as he moved his hand up to run his fingers through his own hair. "I just can't believe you're actually here. Feels like a dream, if I'm being honest."

Cassandra would be lying if she said that she hadn’t been thinking about this moment a lot since she was brought back. She had looked for Sebastian while she was on the Other Side but she hadn’t been able to find him anywhere so she had felt sure that he must have died. The locator spell had brought her to Mystic Falls but she hadn’t known if she would find him or his body and that thought alone had filled her with dread. Either way she had known that she’d needed to find him because she had promised Penny that she was going to find the dark object for her. She didn’t trust the warlock her sister was working with one bit but at the end of the day it was worth it to be around her sister again. She knew that in time she would find a way to talk Penny around and make her see that the guy was bad news but it was going to take time and Cassandra had known that she’d needed to find a way to fill hers. This world was so different to the way things had been when she’d died and she wanted to see it all but she definitely hadn’t expected to be attacked in the middle of town like she had been, that was something that she was going to have to be much more careful about in the future. “It was. Other than Penny you were the only person I wanted to see when I came back,” Cassandra said gently. She knew that it had been a long time and she was certain that Sebastian would have moved on with his life by now like he deserved but seeing him again was enough to remind her of just how much she loved him. The way Sebastian pressed a kiss to her palm was enough to draw a smile to the witch’s lips and she nodded as he spoke again. “You’re right, that is all that matters. I’m here and I’m not going anywhere again,” she assured him. She hadn’t fought back when the hunters had dragged her from her home because she hadn’t wanted to show the others in Roanoke that the hunters were right. If she had fought back then it would have only made things worse for the people she loved and she hadn’t wanted that but now she knew that she didn’t have to worry about that so if anything happened like that again then she was certain that she would fight tooth and nail to stay with the people who meant everything to her. As Sebastian told her to tell him if she needed his help, Cassandra felt a smile form on her face. “I will, don’t worry. I don’t plan on going back there any time soon,” she promised. She knew that things were different for her, after all Sebastian and Penny were both immortal, but she knew that she didn’t want to leave either of them again and she would do whatever she had to in order to stop that from happening. As he said that he tried to reach out to her through a psychic, her expression softened. “You were really going to do that for me?” she asked, unable to deny that she was surprised that he would go to all that trouble after all this time. “I am too,” she admitted as he said he was glad he’d found her, bringing her hand up and letting it run through his hair and down his cheek as he kissed her forehead. “You have nothing to apologise for,” she assured him. “It feels like that to me too but if it is a dream then it’s one I don’t want to wake up from.”SEBASTIAN GRAVES

THIS IS A CRUEL WORLD AND I EXPECT very LITTLE FROM IT.
It was. Other than Penny you were the only person I wanted to see when I came back,
Sebastian felt a soft smile form on his lips at Cassandra's words. "You were the only person I wanted to see when I came back, but I knew it would be impossible." There was a hint of sadness in his voice but he knew that he should brush his sadness away because right now, she was alive and breathing and there's nothing for him to worry about again. She was here, with him and for once, the world looked a whole lot brighter than its dimmed state that he saw it in.
You’re right, that is all that matters. I’m here and I’m not going anywhere again, I will, don’t worry. I don’t plan on going back there any time soon,
Sebastian nodded his head once, her words reassuring him as his worries seemed to ease away. "You're not," he repeated, his voice gentle as his blue eyes met Cassandra's, watching her for a few moments to reassure himself that this is all real. "You and me both." The Other Side was such an awful place. So quiet and so ... dark all the time. It always felt like he was the only one there, tortured by his past mistakes and the bad memories. "That place was truly awful," he added a moment later with a soft sigh falling from his lips.
You were really going to do that for me? I am too, You have nothing to apologise for, It feels like that to me too but if it is a dream then it’s one I don’t want to wake up from.
"Of course, love. There's nothing I wouldn't do for you." Sebastian's voice was soft as he said those words and he meant all of it. There's nothing that he wouldn't do for her. He felt a small smile appear on his lips at Cassandra's words before he nodded his head in agreement. If it was all a dream, then he definitely did not want to wake up from it. He had everything he wanted right here. He pulled away slightly, his eyes scanning his surroundings for a moment before his eyes settled on Cassandra once again. "Come on now, it's best that we get out of here." He offered Cassandra his hand so he could lead them out of the woods before any other creature comes back for another bite. "Are you hungry, by any chance? I know a rather good restaurant around here that makes good food."

Cassandra had searched for Sebastian while she was on the Other Side but she hadn’t been able to find him. She hadn’t known what had happened to him after she concealed the box that she’d hidden him in so that the hunters wouldn’t find him and just thinking about him when she came back had made her heart ache. The locator spell she’d done had brought her to Mystic Falls but she hadn’t known what she would find when she got there. Things were completely different when they met, the world was completely different, but she knew that the connection they’d had was real. She didn’t know if Sebastian had ever felt the same but she’d loved him and to this day she knew that she still did. She wanted him to be happy so she hoped that he’d moved on but at the same time a selfish part of her didn’t want that to be the case. Either way she felt better knowing that he was here and just looking at him now was enough to make her heart feel so much lighter. “We can make up for that lost time now,” Cassandra said, a smile forming on her face as she looked over at Sebastian. She wasn’t sure what the future was going to hold but she knew that she wanted nothing more than to have him in her life again no matter what capacity that was in. It had taken centuries but now Cassandra was back and she really wasn’t planning on going anywhere again. She had Penny back in her life and now she hoped that she had Sebastian as well so she knew that she was lucky to have been given another chance. As Sebastian said that the Other Side was awful, Cassandra studied him carefully for a moment. “What happened to you after I died?” she asked. She wasn’t sure that she was going to like the answer to that question but she had to know. She hadn’t spent much time with Sebastian yet but he still seemed like the same guy she had known back then, the same guy that she had fallen in love with, and for that she was glad. As he said that there wasn’t anything that he wouldn’t do for her, Cassandra felt a smile form on her face. “You’re still as charming as ever I see,” she said, her voice full of nothing but warmth for the man before her. She knew that Sebastian had done some awful things in the past but she had seen a different side of him and she knew that he was a good guy underneath it all. He’d wanted to change and that went a long way as far as she was concerned. “We’d better do something about him, I know the world is different now but I don’t think it will go down well if we leave him here,” she said, knowing that it would no doubt be a shock to whoever found him. In moments a spell was on her tongue, one that would encompass the body in UV rays and turn the body to ash. It didn’t take long for the deed to be done and when it was she took Sebastian’s hand and together they headed out of the trees and into town. As he asked if she was hungry, she nodded. “I’m starving,” she admitted. “I’m not sure how any of this works so perhaps you can show me?” she suggested. Penny and the warlock had often brought her food since they brought her back so the idea of eating somewhere was all new to her at the moment. She had heard of restaurants but the closest she had come was spending time in the tavern in Roanoke and she hadn’t done that too often. SEBASTIAN GRAVES

THIS IS A CRUEL WORLD AND I EXPECT very LITTLE FROM IT.
We can make up for that lost time now, What happened to you after I died?
Sebastian felt a small smile touch his lips at Cassandra's words as he nodded his head once in agreement. "Yes, we can. There is no time like the present." Sebastian's voice was soft as he spoke, his blue eyes still focused solely on Cassandra, watching her with a sense of relief flooding him. He was just really happy to see her again after all these years apart. There was a moment where his smile faltered but it soon returned to his lips again as his shoulders lifted and dropped in a quick shrug. "Nothing." The answer itself might sound reassuring to some, but for Sebastian, it wasn't a good thing. "It was so quiet and so ... lonely." Sebastian's brows furrowed as he felt something heavy settle in his stomach, his smile fading away little by little. "I thought it was gonna stay that way for me forever and so, I began to accept it until an opportunity presented itself for me when a group of teenagers with a kick for haunted homes decided to enter the house I was stored in." And for once, things began to look up for the vampire. "When I woke up for the first time, I was so lost because nothing was the same. Everything was so different, there were odd machines that people sit inside and it takes them where they want to go. Then there's those devices that emit voices from within, it was truly so... odd." Sebastian breathed out with a small sigh leaving his lips. "But there was one thing I knew for certain after I woke up from my desiccated form, it was so much better than the Other Side. I was alive once more and I knew better than to take that for granted this time around." Sebastian had done that once and quickly realized just how foolish he had been.
You’re still as charming as ever I see, We’d better do something about him, I know the world is different now but I don’t think it will go down well if we leave him here, I’m starving, I’m not sure how any of this works so perhaps you can show me?
Sebastian chuckled at Cassandra's words when she said that he was still as charming as ever. "Oh, why thank you. Careful there though, you might inflate my ego quite a bit." He teased with a half-smile forming on his lips. There was a thoughtful hum that left his lips as his attention turned to the deceased vampire. "Ah, yes. I suppose that we should." His attention turned to Cassandra, who casted a spell on the corpse that made it turn into ashes quickly, his lips stretching to form a proud smile. "Well done." He praised and with their hands clasped together, they began to head out of the woods.
"Well then, we better solve that quickly." Sebastian said with a crooked smile forming on his lips when Cassandra told him that she was starving. "Oh, of course. I'll take care of you." He assured her with a surprising gentleness to the tone of his voice. "It's quite simple, actually. I expected it to be complicated like everything else, but surprisingly it was not." Sebastian assured a moment later as he began heading to the Grill with Cassandra.
Once they were there, he pressed his palm flat against the door, pushing it open so that Cassandra could walk in first before he joined shortly after. "This is what they call the Mystic Grill. It's got the best of both worlds. Food and booze," Sebastian gestured to an empty table so they could sit down together. "Someone will be over shortly with a menu. In it, you will find names of the food here. If any of them catch your eye, let me know and I will explain it to you, yes?"

Cassandra couldn’t believe that this was happening, she had wanted to find Sebastian so badly and she had made her way to Mystic Falls so that she could do just that but at the end of the day she hadn’t known that seeing him again would have this kind of effect on her. She had given her life to make sure that the hunters wouldn’t find Sebastian and she didn’t regret that decision one bit. If she had to do things over then she knew that she would do exactly the same thing without even giving it a second thought. She had loved him then and she still loved him now so she knew that she would do whatever she had to in order to keep him safe. This time around, however, he was the one who had saved her and she was grateful to him for that. “I like the sound of that,” Cassandra admitted, a smile touching her lips as she looked over at Sebastian. It was all she had wanted ever since Penny and the warlock had brought her back and she knew that there was still a lot that they needed to figure out but they had plenty of time. As Sebastian explained what had happened to him, Cassandra’s expression softened and she reached for him and pulled him into a hug. “Sebastian, I’m so sorry,” she said gently, holding him there for a moment before releasing him. “I never wanted that for you, I hoped that Penny or someone from the coven would be able to free you,” she admitted. She hated the fact that that hadn’t happened but there wasn’t anything that she could do to change it now no matter how much she wanted to. “How long ago were you freed?” she asked, hoping that he’d had the chance to start living his life now at least. “I know how overwhelming this world can be,” she added, not at all surprised that he had been finding it strange as well. She still didn’t know much about the way things were now but she knew that she wanted to figure it out. As Sebastian spoke again, Cassandra couldn’t help but laugh. “We can’t have that now, can we?” she grinned. She knew that Sebastian was only messing around, he wasn’t that kind of person at all but she couldn’t resist teasing him nonetheless. It was so easy to be around him now even though things had changed so much since they had last seen each other and she was glad about that. The thought of never being able to see him again had filled her with dread and she knew that she never wanted to feel that way again. Penny was a dragon which meant that she was difficult to kill but Sebastian was a vampire and she knew that she didn’t want to risk anything happening to him again. Cassandra wanted nothing more than to get out of there but she knew that she couldn’t do that just yet. They had to get rid of the body first and it wasn’t long before her spell had done its job. “Thanks,” she said, an easy smile forming on her face as her eyes met his. Soon enough they were heading out of the woods together and Cassandra let her gaze sweep around the area as she tried to get her bearings while they walked. She had a lot to learn about Mystic Falls and she knew that she wanted to learn as much as she could about the town especially now she knew that Sebastian was living there. Her smile widened as he said they’d better solve the fact that she was hungry quickly. That was something that she was used to from him but it was the gentleness in his voice when he spoke again that surprised her and she brought her hand up to let it rest gently against his cheek. “You always do,” she said gently. She had always known that she got to see a different side to Sebastian than anyone else did and she was starting to wonder if perhaps that hadn’t changed even after all these years. “Perhaps this world won’t be so bad after all then,” she nodded as Sebastian said that eating in a restaurant wasn’t complicated like everything else. Thanking Sebastian as he held the door open for her, Cassandra headed inside and looked around them, doing her best to take it all in. “This doesn’t seem so different to the tavern we used to go to,” she said, unable to keep the surprise out of her voice. It was definitely a pleasant surprise that was for sure. “I think I can do that,” she nodded as they sat down at an empty table. It wasn’t long before someone brought over the menus like he’d said and Cassandra’s eyes swept over the menu. Sebastian had to explain a few different dishes to her but the truth was that she had no idea what to go for. “What would you recommend?” she asked, not sure what Sebastian liked eating there. THIS IS A CRUEL WORLD AND I EXPECT very LITTLE FROM IT.
Sebastian, I’m so sorry, I never wanted that for you, I hoped that Penny or someone from the coven would be able to free you, How long ago were you freed? I know how overwhelming this world can be,
Sebastian closed his eyes, allowing himself to sink into the warmth and familiarity of Cassandra's embrace. His arms soon wrapped around her, the hold he had on her tightening a little bit. "I know you didn't, love. You only wanted to protect me and I never blamed you for it. Not even once. I know you had only the best intentions in mind." He assured her, his voice remaining soft as he spoke. "I know, love. It's quite alright." He knew she never meant for any of this to happen to him and he never blamed her for it, not even for a second. He simply blamed his rotten luck. He seemed a little reluctant about letting Cassandra go, worried that she'd disappear entirely if he released her but she didn't. She was still right there. "I'd say almost a year now." He said with a quick nod of his head following, his blue eyes focused solely on Cassandra. "It was a rather odd year, but now I'm a student, believe it or not. It's an interesting experience for sure but I quite like it."
We can’t have that now, can we? Thanks. You always do, Perhaps this world won’t be so bad after all then, This doesn’t seem so different to the tavern we used to go to, I think I can do that, What would you recommend?
Sebastian chuckled when he heard Cassandra's words as he nodded his head in agreement. He turned his head slightly to the side so that he could press a gentle kiss to the palm of Cassandra's hand when her hand cupped his cheek. His eyes softened at her words. It definitely made him feel a lot better to hear her say that. "I agree with you, love. After all, how could it be bad when I have you by my side now?" Sebastian said with a gentle smile resting on his lips, his voice remaining genuine as always.
He hummed in agreement as he took a moment to look around him, scanning his surroundings before his eyes moved to settle on Cassandra. "Ah, yes. You're quite right about that." He felt a small smile settle on his lips. "It certainly has the same feel." He added a moment later as he claimed his seat, relaxing a little bit. "Well, I was thinking about the Mystic Burger with the Sprite. You ought to try sparkling drinks for the first time, they're quite fun." Sebastian suggested with a quick nod of his head following. "And if you don't like it, we can simply try another drink. Simple as that."

Cassandra hadn’t had any idea what would happen when she found Sebastian again but so far this was going so much better than she could have hoped for. She still loved him, that much she knew for sure, but then again she’d been stuck on the Other Side for centuries and she hadn’t had the chance to live her life the way that she hoped Sebastian had done. She knew that she wouldn’t blame him for moving on, in fact that was exactly what she had wanted for him because she wanted him to be happy, but seeing him again now was enough to remind her of all the time they’d spent together in the past and that was enough to make her heart ache. “That’s still all I want. I’d make the same decision again in a heartbeat if I had to,” Cassandra assured him. She knew that she didn’t want to end up going back to the Other Side but if it came down to her life or Sebastian’s like it had before then she knew that she would give her life up to save him just like she had done before. “It’s not because you spent centuries like that but thank you for saying it,” she said, a wry smile touching her lips. She hated the fact that he’d spent so long locked away and as he said that it had only been a year since he’d been freed, she felt her breath catch in her throat. “That’s awful,” she breathed, holding on to Sebastian that much tighter. She didn’t understand how he didn’t hate her for what she had put him through but he didn’t seem to just yet and in that moment she wanted to make the most of the feeling of his arms wrapped around her while she could. “You’re a student? Where?” she asked, unable to imagine a school that would be of interest to Sebastian enough to make him want to attend. The way Sebastian turned his head to kiss her palm was so gentle and in that moment Cassandra felt her heart flutter in her chest. There was only one guy who’d ever had that effect on her and it seemingly hadn’t changed. He was so tender and loving when he was around her and his next words were enough to surprise her, Cassandra’s own next words left her lips before she could stop them. “Are you seeing anyone?” she asked before feeling her cheeks flush red as she realised what she’d just asked him. “Sorry, I shouldn’t have asked you that,” she said quickly. He seemed genuinely happy that she was back but she knew that so much could have changed since they were last together. “I can’t expect things to go back to the way they were, you’ve probably found someone new already.” Sebastian had made mistakes in the past but underneath it all he was a good guy and she could see that that was still true now so she knew that she couldn’t expect him to still be on his own. Knowing that she needed to a distraction before she ended up embarrassing herself any further, Cassandra looked around them and felt a smile form on her face as she realised that the tavern they used to go to wasn’t so different to this place. “It does,” she agreed, fond memories of the time they had spent there flooding back to her in an instant. “Sparkling drinks? What are they?” she asked. Ever since she was brought back she’d always stuck to water or something a little stronger at times so now she couldn’t deny that she was intrigued. “I think I like the sound of that, I’ll have the same then,” she nodded as she set the menu back down at the side of the table. She had no idea what the meal was going to be like but she was looking forward to finding out. SEBASTIAN GRAVES

That’s still all I want. I’d make the same decision again in a heartbeat if I had to, It’s not because you spent centuries like that but thank you for saying it, That’s awful, You’re a student? Where?
Sebastian nodded his head in an understanding manner, his lips stretching to form a gentle smile. "I know, love. I know." He whispered in an assuring voice. "It was bearable, though. Watching you die, on the other hand, was not." Sebastian had no qualms with living on the Other Side for even longer than a few centuries, but watching her die was single-handedly the hardest thing he's ever had to witness and he had seen absolute horrors before. The memories of her passing haunted him for a long, long time, especially after he came back to life because with everything that he did, he remembered her. "It's okay, love. Really." He assured her, feeling his heart ache for her. She must feel so guilty but he understood that it was the only way for her to protect him. "If it weren't for you, I would have been long dead. Those hunters would have torn me limb from limb for my awful actions. You saved me." They both thought it would only be temporary, they didn't think that they would go after Cassandra as well. "If anything, I should be the one apologizing. You didn't deserve to die, Cassandra. I'm really sorry." He really did feel awful for the fact that she had died and maybe if she hadn't gotten herself mixed up with him, she would've lived to see another day. "It's called the Salvatore School for the young and gifted. It's a safe haven for people like me and other beings as well. It's my temporary home, as well."
Are you seeing anyone? Sorry, I shouldn’t have asked you that, I can’t expect things to go back to the way they were, you’ve probably found someone new already.
Sebastian was caught off-guard by Cassandra's question, but it wasn't a bad reaction in the slightest. There was a moment where his head dipped down as a smile tugged at the corner of his lips. He soon lifted his head up again so he could meet Cassandra's eyes, listening to her as she spoke before he gently shook his head. "I am not seeing anyone, no." Sebastian revealed, blue eyes fixed on Cassandra. "After all, how could I seek anyone else when my heart only belongs to you." Sebastian added a moment later, meaning every word of it. "I saw you everywhere I went, in every new face that I talked to. I knew that I was never going to fall for anyone the same way I fell for you, Cassandra." His words remained genuine as he spoke, his lips stretching to form a gentle smile.
Sparkling drinks? What are they? I think I like the sound of that, I’ll have the same then,
"Honestly? I'm not quite sure. What I do know is that they have different names but oddly enough, they all taste the same. You'll see soon enough." Sebastian said with a small smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. He looked over to the side to see if he could spot the waiter and when he did, he flagged hi mover, telling the man what they both wanted before his attention turned to Cassandra shortly after. "Simple as that." He said with a gentle smile forming on his lips. "So now, we wait and when the food is ready, it'll be brought right to us." Sebastian added a moment later with a quick nod of his head following. "So what do you think so far? Not too hard, right?"

“I’m going to do my best to make sure you never have to go through that again,” Cassandra assured Sebastian as he said that watching her die was unbearable. She’d had the chance to make her peace with the fact that she was going to die before it had happened. She had sensed her death beforehand and she had done her best to make as many memories with Sebastian and Penny as she could. She knew that she should have told them about it but she hadn’t known how. She still felt so guilty about what he had gone through but she knew that she couldn’t go back and change it now no matter how much she might want to. She would never be able to give all of those years back to Sebastian or take back what he had been through but he honestly seemed to be taking it all in his stride and Cassandra knew that she needed to take a leaf out of his book. “I never would have let them do that to you, I hope you know that,” she said gently. She really did care about Sebastian and she always had done so she knew that she wasn’t going to let anyone hurt him, not while there was something she could do about it. As Sebastian said that if anything he should be the one apologising, Cassandra shook her head. “You have nothing to apologise for,” she said, no hint of doubt in her voice whatsoever. “There’s something I didn’t tell you, before the hunters arrived I sensed my death. That’s why I started spending more time with you and Penny, I knew my time with you was limited,” she said, studying him carefully for any kind of a reaction. Cassandra knew that she could have stayed quiet about that but she didn’t want to lie to Sebastian so she knew that she had to be honest. As he explained about the Salvatore School, Cassandra felt a smile form on her face. “I’m glad you’ve found somewhere you belong,” she said sincerely. “It sounds like a great place.” She knew that she still needed to find a place where she would fit in but now that she was in Mystic Falls she hoped that it wouldn’t take her long to do that. The moment the question left her lips Cassandra regretted it, she hadn’t meant to be as blunt as that but seeing Sebastian again was enough to bring back all of those old memories and she just couldn’t help it. The moment she did she was worried that she’d overstepped, though, and she could see that Sebastian was surprised but as he lowered his head she almost thought she saw him smiling. For a moment her heart skipped a beat and even though she’d wanted him to find happiness she couldn’t deny that she was glad that he wasn’t seeing anyone else. “All I’ve ever wanted is for you to be happy,” she said gently. “My heart belongs to you as well. I never thought I would ever feel like that before you came along.” She hadn’t thought that she would ever deserve to be loved but Sebastian had proved her wrong and she knew that she wanted to hold on to that for as long as she could. “That sounds a little strange but I’m willing to give it a try,” Cassandra shrugged. She knew that she had so much to learn about the world that she had been brought back into and she was looking forward to experiencing everything that it had to offer. It wasn’t long before Sebastian managed to catch the attention of one of the staff and Cassandra watched with interest as he placed their order. “That doesn’t seem so bad,” she admitted as he said that it was as simple as that. “So tell me more about this world,” she said, curious as to what he had managed to experience so far. THIS IS A CRUEL WORLD AND I EXPECT very LITTLE FROM IT.
I’m going to do my best to make sure you never have to go through that again. “I never would have let them do that to you, I hope you know that, You have nothing to apologise for, There’s something I didn’t tell you, before the hunters arrived I sensed my death. That’s why I started spending more time with you and Penny, I knew my time with you was limited, I’m glad you’ve found somewhere you belong, It sounds like a great place.
"I'll hold you to that," Sebastian said with a half-smile pulling on his lips. "But you should know that I won't allow something like that to happen again. No more running away." He won't tuck his tail and run away again. He had done it once and it cost him Cassandra and his own freedom. Never again. "I know, love. I know." He assured her in a soft voice, knowing that Cassandra would have never let them do that to him. It was unlike her. "I never doubted that." Sebastian added a moment later, his smile becoming evident on his lips once more. "There is---" Sebastian was about to argue about that but stopped when Cassandra mentioned something that she didn't tell him. He tilted his head slightly to the side in a silent question of what it was and when she revealed what it was, his eyes widened slightly. "Oh." Sebastian's brows pulled together in a frown, his blue eyes relaxing on Cassandra once more. "That must have been jarring... Sensing your own death, knowing it's pretty much written in stone. I'm sorry, Cassandra." Sebastian was still frowning, but there was something akin to pain in his eyes. "I do, too." Sebastian's frown had eased away when he heard Cassandra's words, his smile becoming visible on his lips once more. "It is, yes. I quite like it there. I made a few friends of my own, which was a tad bit jarring at first because the whole 'friends' concept was new to me, they wanted nothing from me in return. They seemed genuinely interested in being just my friend. I quite like the feeling now, though." Sebastian said in a gentle voice, his eyes relaxing on Cassandra once again. He definitely looked far more relaxed now.
All I’ve ever wanted is for you to be happy, My heart belongs to you as well. I never thought I would ever feel like that before you came along.
"I've only ever wanted the same for you, love." Sebastian said in a soft voice, meaning every word he uttered. He looked relieved to hear her next words. His lips parted to say something but he couldn't find any words to express just how happy he felt to hear her say something like that to him. It really did make him happy.
That sounds a little strange but I’m willing to give it a try. That doesn’t seem so bad, So tell me more about this world,
Sebastian chuckled at Cassandra's words before he nodded his head in agreement. "It does, yes." He agreed with her, a hint of fondness in his eyes as he kept his eyes focused on her. "Well..." Sebastian trailed off, trying to gather all the information he'd learned during his stay. "Vampires aren't the most feared creatures, that I know for sure. If anything, they are very common in this small town. This world relies a lot on technology, that I know. Everything can be done through the... ah.. what was it called? Ah, yes. Phone. I heard this town is known for its animal attacks which typically aren't animal attacks but vampires feeding on unsuspecting humans, so this town is definitely not safe in the slightest. There are definitely werewolves around as well as other creatures. I know that for sure because there are a lot of different creatures at the school. It's quite jarring at first, but I suppose it's important to know about other creatures..." Sebastian carried on and told her everything he knew about this world so she wouldn't be in the dark because he knew how awful that was.
And by the time he was done, the waitress was putting their food / drinks on the table before walking away. "Alright, let's dig in." Sebastian said with a gentle smile tugging on his lips as he began eating not long after.
