It was the last day of school and Josie knew that she should be as ecstatic about that as everyone else seemed to be but the truth was that she actually really liked school. It wasn’t cool to like learning or anything like that but Josie always had. She enjoyed going above and beyond in her classes and she also liked trying new things when she was on her own. She had met a few people who were like her over the years but she knew that she was different to most of her friends in that respect and she was perfectly fine with that. She had a feeling that she would probably end up helping out with recruitment a bit over the summer anyway and she was perfectly fine with that. She knew that she was incredibly lucky to have the upbringing that she had done, she had two parents who loved her, who knew what she was and who wanted to help her as much as they could. They had literally opened a school so that she and Lizzie would have somewhere safe to learn how to use and control their powers and she loved them so much for that. They hadn’t just helped the two of them, they had helped so many other kids as well and she was incredibly proud of them. It was pretty much a tradition that there weren’t any classes on the last day of school, it was usually an excuse for everyone to slack off and have some fun together before those who didn’t live nearby headed home for the summer, and that was something that Josie had grown used to. At some point during the day she always ended up joining in but she didn’t often do so straight away and that day was no exception. She’d had some work to finish off for one of her classes that morning, an extra credit project that she’d ended up enjoying and getting a little carried away with, and with that done she decided that she wanted a bit of quiet to finish reading the book that she had picked out so that she could start something new over the summer. Most of the other students were outside enjoying the sunshine and she could hear that some of them were by the pool but she wasn’t ready to join them just yet so instead she found herself a spot to sit in the library, pulled out her book and started to read. | I t was the last day of school and MG was nothing short of ecstatic over it, actually. He was glad that he wouldn’t have to worry about studying or anything like that. Now, he can actually do whatever he pleases with his time without feeling guilty over it. Who wouldn’t want that? MG didn’t live at the school, so he was using today as a way to meet up with his friends and have fun before going back to the Salvatore house where he lives with Stefan and the others. MG didn’t hate it, but he was kinda sad that he wouldn’t be seeing his friends every day. Oh well, he could always text them and ask them to meet up, it wasn’t that big of a deal. Technology made everything really easy, didn’t it? MG was currently having a conversation with a group of friends and it was going well, they were all chatting and laughing along until MG spotted something from the corner of his eye which made him look away for a moment and his eyes were soon relaxing upon none other than Josie and when he saw her with a book, he couldn’t help the laugh that left his lips. ”Excuse me guys for a sec,” with a grin, he excused himself and started heading to where Josie was. ”Yo, Jo!” MG called out to capture her attention as he approached her. Once he was close to where she was, he gently placed his hand over the book. ”I’m pretty sure today is the last day of school, Jo. You don’t have to study anymore unless you just love torturing yourself,” he teased with an easy grin on his lips as he sat down next to her. ”C’mon, give yourself a break and have fun. Please?” |

Josie knew that she should be celebrating the fact that it was the last day of school like everyone else was but then again she had figured out a while ago that she wasn’t exactly like everyone else. She enjoyed having some quiet time to herself so that she could just sit and read and after finishing the assignment that she had been working on she had decided to do just that. She didn’t doubt that Lizzie was around somewhere nearby bossing people around and she knew that the rest of her friends were probably off having fun as well. Josie had already decided that she would join them later but there was so much going on around the school at the moment that she was certain that she wouldn’t be missed for a while until she finished the book that she’d been reading. She knew what she was like sometimes for getting a little too engrossed in things so she wouldn’t be surprised if sooner or later her mom or dad found her and made her join the others but until then she was more than happy on her own. She was until she heard someone calling out to her, anyway. “Hey MG,” she said, glancing up momentarily to see that he was heading in her direction before turning her attention back to her book. She continued reading until he placed his hand over the book at which time she looked up at her friend once more before closing the book since she’d had just enough time to finish it. “Believe it or not I’m not studying or torturing myself, this is reading for fun,” she said, a smile touching her lips as she looked over at him since she wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t believe her even if it was true. She knew that she wanted to take the time to have some fun with her friends, especially the ones that didn’t live nearby that she wouldn’t see for two whole months, but first a little quiet time was just what she’d needed. “Your timing is perfect as always, I just finished it,” she said as she slipped the book back into her bag and looked up at him once more. “Where’s everyone else?”MILTON GREASLEY

| T here was a moment where he just stared at Josie for a moment without saying anything at first. "Reading and fun in one sentence just don't sit right with me." MG joked in a light-hearted way. "But, y'know what, you do you." He added a moment later with a chuckle falling from his lips. He waved at his friend who walked past him before his attention turned to Josie once more when she told him that she was finished with her book. "Oh, y'know what they say about me. Perfect timing is my middle name." MG said with a grin tugging at his lips, his eyes relaxing on Josie's bag for a moment before he looked back up to meet her eyes. Where’s everyone else? "Probably off doing their own thing now. We're finally free from the books. For now, at least." He lifted his shoulders and dropped them in a quick shrug. "Guess you were really busy with your book, huh?" He said with a chuckle falling from his lips. The others had been loud, showing just how excited they were about time off at last. He shared the same enthusiasm too, honestly. He was a smart kid, but it doesn't mean that he'd rather spend his days hunched over a book and not out with his friends, enjoying his youth. "C'mon, Jo. Let's go, too. I'm craving something sweet to celebrate." MG said with a grin forming on his lips once more, his eyes falling upon Josie once more. |

It wasn’t unusual for Josie to be found with her nose stuck in a book, she knew that not everyone liked to read for fun but she always had done and that was something that she was pretty sure she had ended up inheriting from her dad. “I wouldn’t be surprised if most people here agreed with you,” Josie laughed. She knew that she was an exception to that rule and the truth was that she was okay with that. “Thanks but it’s all good,” she grinned, waving to the others as they passed by. “Of course, how could I forget?” she beamed, unable to resist playing along. That day MG definitely did have good timing though so she knew that she wasn’t going to argue. Anyone else might have just left her to it but if she was honest she liked the idea of being able to spend some time with a friend before school finished for the summer. “Yeah, I was,” she admitted, not surprised that she had missed what was going on around her while she’d had her nose stuck in her book. “Have you got anything planned for the summer?” she asked as she gathered her things together and got to her feet before slinging her bag over her shoulder. As MG said that they should go too and that he was craving something sweet to celebrate, Josie felt a smile touch her lips. “Let’s do it,” she nodded. “Now that you mention it I’m in the mood for something sweet as well,” she admitted. “What are you in the mood for?” she asked as they started heading down through the school. ━ he was brave and strong and broken all at once ━ MG released a brief chuckle at that. "Unless, of course, the book included pictures. Then those are just a different story." He clarified a moment later since he was an avid comic book reader. Pretty much everyone at the school knew all too well that MG loved his comic books and given the right opportunity and time, he'll talk endlessly about it until his tongue goes numb. A half-smile formed on his lips at Josie's next words as he puffed his chest, looking all too proud to be known as the guy with the most perfect timings. Literally no one ever called him that but hey, Josie doesn't need to know that.
MG let out a quick chuckle as he nodded his head as if saying that he could clearly see that much, at least. "Me? Nah. Not really. Just gonna keep doing my own thing, just with less studying." MG quickly shrugged his shoulders. He was aware that most students were going on trips and so on, but MG was pretty content with staying in Mystic Falls. "You?" MG asked a moment later with a hint of curiosity visible in the tone of his voice.
"Perfect." MG pressed his hands together with a bright grin locked on his lips. He was glad that Josie was in the mood to celebrate as well. They should embrace their time off from school with open arms, after all. In order to do that, they need to embrace the celebrative spirit.
"I'm in the mood for waffles." MG replied with a grin locked on his lips. "With ice cream and caramel drizzle." It sounded like a very sweet concoction but it also sounded pretty delicious. So, of course, he was game for it. "C'mon, I know the spot." MG began making his way toward the exit of the school with Josie. "What about you? What are you in the mood for?"

“Of course, how could I forget about your love of comic books?” Josie grinned. She knew how much MG loved them and she was glad that she had someone around who liked reading as well even if it wasn’t the same kind of thing that she was into. Josie had been a bookworm for as long as she could remember, something that she had definitely inherited from her dad, and she always hated it whenever he ran out of books to read. More often than not she would drag one of her parents or friends shopping with her so she could get something new but she was fine for now so she knew that it would be good to hang out with MG. As he puffed out his chest, Josie couldn’t help but laugh. “Come on now, don’t go getting a big head,” she teased. “You haven’t been able to talk Stefan into going away for a bit?” she asked, knowing just how close the two of them were. Josie wasn’t sure whether her parents would want them all to go on a trip or not but either way she knew that she would figure something out. “I’m not really sure. I was thinking of volunteering at the animal shelter for a while but other than that I’m just looking forward to being able to spend some time with all of you guys away from school,” she admitted. It was great seeing them all there every day but there always seemed to be something going on so she hoped that that summer they would just have the chance to hang out and have some fun. That and she really wanted to be able to spend some time with Hope so with any luck she would get the chance. Josie knew that out of their friends she was the one who took school the most seriously but now she knew that she wanted to have a break and spending time with MG celebrating the end of the school year seemed like the perfect way to do just that. As MG said he was in the mood for waffles with ice cream and caramel drizzle, Josie could practically hear her stomach rumble at the thought. “That does sound really good,” she admitted before nodding as MG said he knew where they should go. Making sure that she had her phone and some money, Josie fell into step beside him and her expression turned thoughtful for a moment as he asked what she was in the mood for. “I’m thinking waffles as well but I feel like having them with ice cream, strawberries and white chocolate sauce. Might as well go all out, right?” she asked, knowing that if she was going to indulge in something sweet then she wanted to make it worthwhile. “So how’s everything going for you?” she asked as they walked, knowing that they might as well use it as a chance to catch up properly.
