til now. Politics or military? That was always gonna be the choice. Growing up in Fort McMurray, Alberta, with both his grandfather and father in politics it was just a matter of when that choice was going to be made. On the eve of his graduation Mitch veered in the direction of the Military. Having caught his father using his political position and the shapeshifter ability that ran in his family to cheat on his wife, Mitch wanted nothing to do with his dad's expectations. His grandfather had been in an American-Canadian joint special forces unit during World War II and Mitch saw enlisting as his way to do something for his country that didn't involve dirtying his hands by following in his father's footsteps. He signed up and headed for basic training instead of heading to McGill to study politics. A couple of years in the Infantry and Mitch found himself selected for a new Canadian special forces unit - on the strength of his reputation and the one his grandfather had garnered during the war. A tech head, Mitch got himself a reputation as the tech whiz in their unit. Playing on that a decade later, his father called in a bunch of favours to have him shifted sideways into a desk job thousands of miles away from his team, playing keyboard jockey for the AVs used to support the team. Balking at the idea Mitch quit and went on the road instead. Fetching up eventually in Mystic Falls, and at a loss for what to do with his life, Mitch allowed a local writer to talk into him giving writing a shot. Three years ago his first technothriller sold and with each publication since his father's seethed about the light being shone into the darkest corners of that political world.
friends. For more than a decade the men and women of Mitch's team were his friends. With his leaving the military he's been riding pretty solo, except for his 'Writer's Breakfast Club'. Friendly, approachable, Mitch is the sort of guy who'll be fiercely loyal the minute you get close enough to him.
enemies. Mitch's father always swore he'd rue not following the path set out for him but so far it's worked out pretty well for Mitch. The only enemies he's ever had were the nebulous sort in war, never personal.
family. Named for his grandfather and father, Mitch was an only kid for five years before his twin sisters Marleigh and Margaux were born. After his father's abortive attempt to control his life Mitch has remained distant from his parents but has always been close to his sisters and was close to his grandfather before he passed away..
lovers. Lovers has been the operative word for Mitch. Having seen what his father thought of his marriage, Mitch has never gone into anything seriously. Short term relationships, with no commitment or expectations have been his speed and will probably remain that way for some time to come.
