━ heavy lies the head that wears the crown ━
Adam hadn't been the same ever since Viola's death and there was no denying that. A visit to a therapist was enough to determine the fact that Adam was suffering from depression and panic attacks. Of course he couldn't tell the therapist that his panic attacks often lead him to shocking people and nearly frying them to death. Or the fact that he could probably cause a power outage in the whole town if it got too bad. He couldn't tell him that he had super strength where he could easily lift a car without breaking a sweat. There was so much wrong with Adam that he felt as though if he ever told his therapist, the man would need a therapist of his own. So he didn't tell him about any of those things and kept it simple.
In other words, he kept it human.
Adam let out a small sigh as he shoved his hands into his pockets, keeping them warm. He couldn't find it in him to give off his usual warmth, not with everything that had happened in his life. The people he had loved and lost. His parents' divorce. All of it. It was all so intense and overwhelming. He genuinely hated every last bit of it. But there was nothing he could possibly do to change it or make things any better. He was already lost in his grief and his depression that he felt as though there was simply nothing good about life anymore. The only person who made it feel like it was worth living was dead. Shouldn't that be enough of a sign that life is just... merciless?
Adam blinked out of his thoughts when the lights inside one of the shops started flickering as he walked past it. Adam clenched his fists harder into his pockets, begging for his powers to just stop. He wished it would just disappear and leave him alone. He wanted to be normal again. He wanted nothing more than to be normal again...
He wanted to worry about trivial things, he wanted to focus only on his studies and his life right now but it wasn't easy. Especially with his powers reminding him every passing second that he was anything but normal. Adam gulped past the cotton ball in his throat and started walking again, his head dipped down as he looked down at the floor, bottom lip caught between his teeth as his eyes filled with tears again. God... He'd been crying nonstop for the past god knows how long. It was so ... overwhelming. All of it. Adam snapped out of his thoughts when he bumped into someone, accidentally shocking them in the process. "I━ I'm really sorry." Adam looked at the other, his face softening a little bit as he immediately wiped his tears away when they slipped down his cheeks. "Are you, um, are you okay?"

Starting over in a new town wasn’t something that Ria had thought that she would end up having to do but the truth was that a lot had changed lately. It wasn’t too long ago that she’d experienced her first full moon after she escaped from the man that had kidnapped her and the morning after she had finally met her father, the man that her mom had kept her a secret from throughout her whole life. Now not only was she trying to get her head around both of those things but she was also dealing with the fact that she was apparently only meant to be three years old and a spell had caused her to age quickly. She hadn’t even known that it was possible but she was proof that it was and apparently she wasn’t the only one either. She had found others like her who weren’t really meant to be teenagers yet at the Salvatore School and in a way that was good since it meant that she wasn’t alone but she was still a little shaken after everything that had happened so she hadn’t gone out of her way to try and make any friends just yet. In time she knew that she would but after being taken from her home and locked away for so long by a man who had wanted to make her mom pay the truth was that trusting people didn’t come too easily to her at the moment and she knew that she wanted to get to know her surroundings a little better before she let people get too close to her. One thing Ria knew for sure, though, was that she wasn’t going to let her mom or anyone else take her away from Mystic Falls. Whether she was meant to be or not she was sixteen now and she had wanted to meet her dad for such a long time that she refused to be taken away from him now. She loved her mom and she knew that the woman had been doing what she had thought was best for her but the truth was that his presence had always been something that Ria had missed and she knew that she wasn’t going to give that up. Her mom had always done her best to answer the questions that she’d had about her dad but there were so many things that she’d wanted to ask him and she was glad that she had the chance to do that now. That day Ria had decided to head into town to take a proper look around when someone bumped into her. That was enough to surprise her a little but what surprised her more was the literal shock that came with it. “It’s ok, don’t worry,” she said automatically as she straightened herself up and nodded as he asked if she was ok. “I’m fine, just got a static shock that’s all,” she said, offering him a smile as she lifted her gaze to meet his before expression fell as she realised that he’d been crying. “Are you okay?” she asked, instantly more concerned for him than she was for herself. One of the good things about being a werecreature from what she had been told was that she could heal quickly and even though the shock she had felt had been worse than she’d let on she was already starting to feel better. She wasn’t quite sure what had caused it but she knew that she didn’t want to worry the boy and the truth was that she was more concerned about the fact that he seemed so upset. “I’m Ria, by the way.”ADAM HAWTHORNE

━ heavy lies the head that wears the crown ━
Adam had to clench his fists to not let anymore of his power slip free. He didn't want to become someone who found great joy in hurting others. He didn't want to become a monster. He just wanted to be a normal kid. That's all he wanted, but it seemed like life had a different plan each time and it hurt every single time. He just wanted to go to school, he wanted to have a nice girlfriend and he wanted to be healthy. He wanted to surrounded by his family. That's all he ever wanted. Instead, what he got was divorced parents, a dead girlfriend, and superpowers that just continuously screw up his life.
But he seemed to be momentarily distracted by this abrupt interaction. Adam's cheeks flushed in embarrassment when she told him that it was just a static shock. "Oh, um, yeah.. I hate those.." Adam cleared his throat as his eyes drifted down to look at the floor, his eyes settling momentarily on his shoes before his eyes drifted up to look at the other, eyes widening a little bit when she asked him if he was alright. "M━Me?" Adam gulped past the cotton ball lodged in his throat before he nodded his head a couple of times. "Y-Yeah!━ Yeah, um. I'm fine, thank you." Adam's voice cracked as he quickly assured the other that he was doing okay despite the tears still in his eyes. "Just━ allergies." Adam said with a weak chuckle falling from his lips. He'd always been a terrible liar but he hoped she wouldn't be able to tell.
Adam's lips stretched to form a soft smile when she introduced herself as Ria. "Nice to meet you. I'm Ria━ wait, no, um. I'm not Ria, you are Ria. I'm, uh, I'm Adam." Stellar introduction, Adam. You little idiot. Adam winced at his poor communication skills, wondering when it had gotten that bad. God.

There was so much going on right now and Ria was struggling to get her head around it all. It was bad enough coming to terms with the fact that she had been aged up by more than ten years when she shouldn't have been but to have to deal with being kidnapped and held captive for months, suddenly shifting for the first time and becoming a werepanther, meeting her dad for the first time and getting to know a new town it was a lot to take in but she was doing her best. She knew that she had been quieter than normal lately but she had a feeling that her parents understood. Being a teenager was meant to be tough enough without adding everything else that she was dealing with to the mix as well. The truth was that after her mom got to town she had almost expected a fight on her hands to be able to stay in town but thankfully that hadn't happened. Ria had always wanted to get to know her dad and she had known that she wasn't going to let herself be taken away from him without a fight. There wasn't anything that she could have done if she had stayed her real age but she was older now and she wasn't afraid to fight for what she believed in. As it was she and her mom were going to be sticking around and Ria had even found herself enrolled at the Salvatore School. There were lots of others like her there, she had heard that there were students who had been aged up by the spell like her and there were those who were werecreatures too and she wanted to reach out but she wasn't ready just yet. In time she knew that she would be but until then she knew that she just wanted to get to know the town a little better considering that she was going to be sticking around. Having someone bump into her wasn't the plan but she knew that it wasn't a bad thing and she could already feel the initial sting from the electric shock starting to fade. "Same here," Ria admitted as she absentmindedly rubbed her arm where she had felt the shock hit. She knew that it was more than just static and her mind was already starting to reel with questions about whether the boy before her had caused it but she knew better than to ask about it yet. Studying the boy carefully for a moment as he said he was fine and it was just allergies, Ria's expression turned thoughtful for a moment before she nodded. She didn't buy the boy's explanation one bit but she knew what it was like to need to talk about something and not feel ready to yet so she knew better than to try and get him to open up to a complete stranger. Ria felt a smile form on her face as Adam stumbled over his words as he tried to introduce himself and she couldn't help but laugh as he winced. "It's ok, it's nice to meet you Adam," she admitted, her expression gentle as she looked over at him. "Do you live around here?" she asked, not sure if Mystic Falls was his home or if he was just passing through. ADAM HAWTHORNE

━ heavy lies the head that wears the crown ━
Adam often said a lot of random things whenever he got nervous and if you ask him "hey adam, so when do you get nervous?" he'd look at you and say all the time. So a lot of the times, he doesn't even have any control over what leaves his lips. He can't help it, though! It was so difficult for him to control what he says and they all tend to just blurt out one after the other without any hopes of stopping them. Maybe, with time and the right anxiety medication, he'd cease to ramble nervously but for now, they were going to stay. Adam cleared his throat and lifted his hand to scratch the back of his head sheepishly, though there was a soft and grateful smile soon covering his lips when Ria told him that it was okay. It was really nice to talk to someone who wouldn't make fun of him. But thankfully, he was twenty now and it opened a different path for Adam. College. He no longer had to deal with that nightmare of a place called high school again. "Thank you. It's nice to meet you too━ I've already said that, haven't I? Either way, it's um, it's still nice to meet you." Adam said with a quick nod of his head following, the softness of his smile was definitely still there.
"Yeah, I do, actually." Adam nodded his head a few times, his stance slowly but surely losing the tension collected in it. "I wasn't born here, but we moved here a while back." Adam said with a gentle voice, his hands soon moving into his pockets to minimize any chances of him giving her an electric shock again. "What about you? Are you from around here?" Adam questioned, his curiosity visible in his tone of voice. For once, he wasn't thinking about anything bad. For once, he was just focusing on someone else.

Ria hadn’t been in Mystic Falls for too long but she knew that she needed to start making more of an effort to get to know the town and the people in it considering that she and her mom were planning on staying there for a while. She wouldn’t be surprised if her mom had wanted nothing more than to go back to their old lives in Quantico and Ria knew that it would be good to get away from the memories of everything that had happened but her dad was in Mystic Falls and she knew that she didn’t want to be separated from him again so she knew that it was another thing that she was going to have to learn to deal with. She hadn’t really talked to anyone at her new school yet and instead she had been keeping her head down and trying not to draw too much attention to herself but she knew that she didn’t want to do that any longer. If she let the man that had kidnapped her change who she was then he would have won and she refused to let him have that kind of power over her so she knew that she needed to find a way to get back to being the person that she was before and thankfully some time and space seemed to be helping her. She was still a little lonely, though, as all of the friends she remembered thanks to her fake memories were back in Quantico. She didn’t know anyone in Mystic Falls yet aside from her parents but Adam seemed nice enough so far and she was already starting to feel glad that he had bumped into her that day. “Thanks,” Ria said, a smile touching her lips as she looked over at Adam. He seemed a little nervous which was actually pretty cute as far as she was concerned, especially since there was no way that he needed to be nervous around her. Then again she found herself feeling a little nervous being around new people at the moment after everything that she had been through as well so she knew that there could be much more going on with him underneath the surface. “That’s pretty cool, do you like it here?” she asked, curious now given that he was someone who had moved to the town like her rather than being born there and would hopefully be able to give her an unbiased opinion. “I grew up in Quantico with my mom but we moved here a couple of weeks ago. I haven’t really seen much of the town yet so I decided it was about time I did some exploring,” she explained, glad to have a distraction from everything that had happened even if it was only for a little while. ━ heavy lies the head that wears the crown ━
Adam's lips stretched to form a soft smile when she thanked him. His shoulders lifted and dropped in a silent way of telling her that there really was no need to thank him. It wasn't often that Adam made friends or talked to someone new but it seemed to happen easily with Ria which was surprising, but at the same time, it wasn't. She looked like a kind and warm person which automatically made him loosen up, forgetting about his previous panic attack in order to mainly focus on the person in front of him. It felt nice to focus on something else for once other than his own self-pity and grief.
"Um━" Adam recalled the first time he'd come here and how happy he felt. Then recalled the moments where he began to lose control, his dad's heart attack, his death, his time on the other side, being bullied relentlessly, being brought back, losing Viola... All those moments. They seemed to outshine all the happy memories he had in this town. He looked around him for a moment as he rocked his heels, his expression gave away that he was still contemplating an answer. "It has its moments?" Adam said with a tight-lipped smile following. "Like, it's really pretty here. Especially the Falls and everything but... It's not exactly problem-free, if that makes sense?" Adam wasn't going to unload his problems on someone he'd just met. It would be entirely unfair on her. "Oh, really? That's actually really cool. I've never been to Quantico. How's it over there?" Adam questioned with a small tilt of his head following.
"Um, I actually.. have a question? It might sound weird and I'm really sorry if it is, but... would you mind if I joined you? I just ━ don't wanna, um, don't wanna be on my own and you seem like a really nice person and━ yeah, I should probably um, stop babbling now but if you're uncomfortable with the idea please tell me. I won't be offended on anything."

Ria knew that her life was a mess and often she found herself getting lost in her own head. It was so easy to dwell on everything that had happened but it was more difficult to find a way to move on from it. Her parents were doing their best to help but she didn’t feel ready to open up about everything just yet. In time she knew that she would but until then she was doing her best to deal with it on her own. She had always been able to talk to her mom about anything and that hadn’t changed but this was different. She didn’t blame her mom for what had happened because she knew that she had just been doing her job but she didn’t want to make her feel any more guilty than she probably already did either. Then there was her dad, the man that she was just getting to know. He was doing his best as well but Ria knew that he was probably still having a hard enough time getting his head around the fact that she existed and that she was a teenager so she knew that it wouldn’t be fair to offload any more on him. That didn’t mean that Ria didn’t want things to be different, though, and heading out that day seemed like a good first step to getting back onto the right track. She had already started at her new school and she was doing her best to get caught up to where the others were but she knew that she needed to do more. She needed to take back control of her life and getting to know her new surroundings seemed like a pretty good way of doing just that. She didn’t have any friends in town yet but as she looked over at Adam she couldn’t help but wonder if she was perhaps on her way to making one now. “That does make sense. I think there’s more that goes on here than a lot of people know,” Ria nodded. There was if what had happened to her was anything to go by anyway and it was enough to make her wonder what else might be going on in the town at the moment. As he asked about Quantico, she felt a smile form on her face. “It’s a really nice place but between the FBI training academy and marine base it can get quite busy. I like that Mystic Falls seems more laid back so far,” she admitted. She had found some places in Quantico that had become special to her but she hoped that she might be able to do the same in Mystic Falls now. As Adam asked if he could join her Ria was a little surprised but she soon felt a smile touch her lips. “I think a part of me was hoping you might ask me that because I don’t want to be on my own at the moment either,” she admitted. Even while she was looking around it was too easy to get lost in her own thoughts and that was the last thing she wanted right now. “I’d love to have you join me,” she nodded. “Is there anywhere you would suggest we go first or shall we just see where we end up?” she asked, not really sure just yet what the town had to offer. If only you knew. But the possibility of her having already known that was also there. He didn't want to assume that she had no idea that the supernatural world existed. "Yeah, exactly." Adam agreed with a gentle smile resting on his lips. "I guess some people just immediately assume that a town like this will be problem-free, but it really isn't." A shrug of his shoulders followed, his eyes moving away from Ria to take a quick look around him before his eyes settled back on her again.
"Oh wow, really? That's pretty cool but at the same time, it's unfortunate that it's so busy." Adam nodded his head a few times at her words as a soft smile appeared on his lips. "Yeah, Mystic Falls is pretty laid-back. I think you'll like it here." Adam said with a quick nod of his head. But she just needed to be careful. It was probably the key to surviving a town like Mystic Falls where nothing is what it seems.
Adam's eyes lit up at her words, feeling beyond relieved that Ria actually had been wanting Adam to ask her that. "Really?" He breathed out with a grin resting on his lips and it was probably the first time he'd genuinely smiled in a long time. "Okay, that's, um, that's great. That's awesome. Okay, I'll join you." Adam said in a soft voice. He can't remember when was the last time he had felt this... safe and comfortable.
"Well, um, it depends. Are you like, hungry? Or thirsty? Because that might determine our first step, actually." Adam questioned with a soft voice, his eyes still focused on Ria. "But, if you just wanna enjoy the scenery and see what the town has to offer, then we can just walk and I'll tell what every place is and such. Hopefully it won't get too overwhelming for you." Adam would have no problem stopping and letting her take everything in whenever she felt overwhelmed but then again, Mystic Falls probably wasn't that big. But from the perspective of someone who was looking around and exploring for the first time, it might be.

There was so much going on right now that seemed to be out of Ria’s control. She hadn’t asked to be taken from her home in Quantico, to be kept away from her mom for months and then brought to Mystic Falls and she hadn’t asked to be aged up by a spell that had affected others in the town either. She hadn’t even known that any of this was possible but after spending some time at the Salvatore School she had already started to see that there was a lot that shouldn’t be possible but actually was. She knew that she had a lot to learn about all of this and she only hoped that over time she would find a way to come to terms with it all. Right now there were times when it all threatened to overwhelm her but she knew that she couldn’t let that happen. Getting to know Mystic Falls was something that she could control and right now that was exactly what she needed. She hadn’t thought that she would end up making a friend while she took a look around but Adam seemed nice so far so she was glad that they had run into each other. “I don’t think anywhere will ever be problem-free,” Ria admitted. There were always going to be people around who complicated matters and made things difficult so she knew better than to believe otherwise. Her mom locked bad people away for a living and Ria had seen the lengths that one man would go to in order to make someone else pay so she knew that there was always more beneath the surface. “It’s good in a way because with so many FBI Agents around people are less likely to do something stupid but the guys from the base can get rowdy sometimes,” she explained. It was to be expected really but it was something that she had grown used to. So far she liked how quiet Mystic Falls was though and she hoped that it would stay that way for a while. “I like it so far,” she nodded. She hadn’t seen much of the town at all but her school wasn’t bad, she knew that she just needed to let her guard down a little and start getting to know some of the other students there. Back in Quantico she’d had a lot of friends and she couldn’t deny that she missed that. Seeing the way that Adam’s eyes lit up was enough to bring a genuine smile to Ria’s face. She had thought that her day would end up consisting of a walk around the town on her own without really talking to anyone else but the truth was that this was already turning out to be so much better. She hadn’t known how she would have stopped herself from getting lost in her thoughts again and that was the last thing she wanted so it was a relief to have a distraction. “Really,” she nodded, more relieved than she thought she would be when he agreed to join her. As he spoke again, her expression turned thoughtful for a moment before laughing as he said that he hoped it wouldn’t get too overwhelming for her. “Trust me, this is nothing compared to everything else that has happened lately,” she admitted. “I am a little hungry so why don’t we have a look around for a bit and then grab something to eat if you don’t have anywhere else that you need to be? I have some money on me so it’ll be on me as a thank you for showing me around,” she suggested. She didn’t have anything else planned for the day but she wasn’t sure if the same was true for Adam. I don’t think anywhere will ever be problem-free. It’s good in a way because with so many FBI Agents around people are less likely to do something stupid but the guys from the base can get rowdy sometimes,
Adam nodded his head in agreement with Ria because she was definitely right. He didn't think any place was ever going to be problem-free, no matter how much he wanted it to be. "Yeah, exactly. No matter how much we want it to be." As much as he wanted this town to be normal and problem free, it was most likely never going to feel that way. Adam's brows lifted at her words before he let out a soft chuckle, eyes crinkling at the edge. "Oh yeah, for sure. Even imagining it makes my skin crawl a little bit. Guess that's one way to keep the crime rate low." Adam's lips formed a smile as he thought about it for a moment. He would probably never even think about something illegal for a second, worried that the FBI would come knocking on his door as if they could read his mind.
Trust me, this is nothing compared to everything else that has happened lately, I am a little hungry so why don’t we have a look around for a bit and then grab something to eat if you don’t have anywhere else that you need to be? I have some money on me so it’ll be on me as a thank you for showing me around,
Adam had a curious look on his face at Ria's words, his lips parted as if wanting to ask what she meant by that or if she wanted to talk about it, but would he be imposing too much if he did? Would it make him seem like he was creeping or perhaps becoming too invested in her personal life? He didn't want to come across that way, honestly. "Yeah, of course." Adam was quick to agree with her suggestion, his lips stretching to form a soft smile. "I don't really have anywhere to be, so we can do that." Adam assured her with a quick nod of his head following. "And no, no, it's on me. You're new in town, so I gotta, um, show you a good time, right?" His sentence sounded weird which made him wince a little. "I didn't... I didn't mean it like that. I meant like, um," he made a couple of hand gestures while trying to think of something to say but it wasn't really that easy for him. "Anyway, um, let's just... let's just start." Adam breathed out with a chuckle falling from his lips as he took a step to the right to begin showing Ria around.
"Hey, um, Ria?" Adam began, wetting his bottom lip nervously. "Can I ask you a question? You obviously don't have to answer it. But yeah, I have a question."

Living in Quantico should have been safe for Ria and her mom but the truth was that it had proved to be anything but. Her mom was great at her job but that meant that she made enemies in the people that she put away and those who knew them and it was one of those that had ended up catching up with both of them. Ria knew that sooner or later she was going to have to tell her parents about exactly what had happened during the time that she was gone but she wasn’t ready to do that just yet. Every time she closed her eyes she was confronted by the memory of being locked away in every place that they ended up, the only time she had seen the outside was while they were on the move and he had tried not to do that too often if he could help it because she had tried to escape each time. She had taken defence classes and knew how to fight but the problem was that he knew how to fight as well and he was stronger than she was so it had taken her a while to get the upper hand. Now she was finally free, though, and she knew that she never wanted to go back to that dark time. Too often at the moment she found herself thinking about it so she knew that she needed a distraction and right now Adam was giving her just that whether he knew it or not. “There will always be people around who know how to cause trouble,” Ria nodded. That was something that she had learned the hard way and she knew that Mystic Falls wasn’t going to be any different, As Adam spoke again, Ria couldn’t help but laugh. “Why, are you going to tell me you’re secretly a criminal mastermind?” she teased. She was pretty sure that Adam was probably the complete opposite from what she had seen so far but she was already starting to feel much more like herself than he had done in a long time. The look that formed on Adam’s face at her next words had Ria mentally kicking herself. She knew that she had said too much and it looked like he wanted to ask her about it so her mind was already reeling trying to think of a lie or a half truth that she could tell. She had never been very good at lying so there was a chance that he might see right through anything that she had to say anyway but it was a chance that she was going to have to take considering that she knew she couldn’t really tell him the truth. Thankfully he didn’t ask and for that she was more than a little relieved. She wouldn’t have blamed Adam if he had wanted to keep their time together short but before she knew it he was agreeing to what she’d suggested and saying that he didn’t have anywhere to be and that was enough to draw a smile to her face. “Great, we can stop each other from being alone for a while then,” she said, genuinely pleased that he didn’t seem to have to rush off anywhere. Adam had said that he didn’t want to be alone right now either so she hoped that this would work out well for both of them. As he offered to pay for their meal as well Ria began to shake her head before laughing as he tried to correct himself but couldn’t seem to do that. “Luckily for you I’m not the kind of girl who takes offence easily,” she grinned. “I know what you mean but you don’t have to pay for lunch, it’s the least I can do,” she said, knowing that the last thing she wanted was to end up taking advantage of his kindness by having him not only show her around but pay for their lunch as well. “Come on then,” she nodded as they started walking. Suddenly Adam seemed nervous again and Ria found herself studying him carefully for a moment as they walked. “Sure, what is it?” she asked, not sure whether it was a question that she was going to like or not. ━ heavy lies the head that wears the crown ━
There will always be people around who know how to cause trouble. Why, are you going to tell me you’re secretly a criminal mastermind?
Adam nodded his head in agreement with her words. She was definitely right. There was always going to be someone around who wanted to cause trouble, no matter what kind of authority was watching them. Her next words made him look around him as if trying to see if he could spot any policemen around before he leaned forward a little bit. "Is it that obvious?" He joked a light-hearted manner before he shook his head with a soft chuckle falling from his lips. "No, no. I'm an innocent civilian, I promise." He made an 'i cross my heart' gesture before his smile easily returned to his lips again.
Great, we can stop each other from being alone for a while then, Luckily for you I’m not the kind of girl who takes offence easily, I know what you mean but you don’t have to pay for lunch, it’s the least I can do, Come on then, Sure, what is it?
"I'd like that a lot." Adam said with a soft smile resting on his lips when Ria told him that they can stop each other from being alone. He didn't want to go back to being alone, it always made his head like it was about to explode from all the screams. Adam let out a soft sigh of relief when Ria told him that she's not hte kind of girl who takes offence easily. It definitely seemed to fill his heart with relief as a soft smile appeared on his lips. "Okay, yeah, um, you can pay for it." Adam's voice was soft as he began walking with Ria to begin his tour. When she gave him the okay to ask her a question, he gulped dryly and released a small hum. "About your comment from earlier..." He began, his voice shaking a little bit from uncertainty. He wasn't so sure whether he was making a good choice right now by asking Ria this. "You said this is nothing compared to everything else that has happened... What did you mean by that? If you wanna talk about it, of course."

It had been a while since Ria had felt normal. For months she had been held captive not sure if she would ever get to see her mom again and go back to living a normal life and now she had to deal with the fact that she was a werepanther and that she had been aged up by a spell as well. Normal wasn’t something that she felt like she was anymore but being around Adam it was almost like she could forget about all of that for a while. He didn’t know anything that had happened to her or how she had come to be in Mystic Falls and right now she wanted it to stay that way. She didn’t want to drag him into the mess that her life had become when she was still trying to figure out how to navigate it herself and she didn’t want him to think that she was crazy and leave either. He was the only person that she had met properly since she arrived in Mystic Falls and he was someone that she was already enjoying being around so she knew that she didn’t want to do anything to jeopardise that. “Totally,” Ria laughed as Adam asked if it was that obvious that he was a criminal mastermind before feeling a playful smile form on her face as he said that he was really an innocent civilian. “Sure you are, I bet you’re a real saint,” she teased, knowing that this time he probably was telling her the truth. She didn’t get a bad feeling from Adam, in fact she already felt at ease around him and that wasn’t something that she had felt for a long time. “So would I,” Ria admitted as Adam said he would like it if they stopped each other from being alone for a while. He had been the first to admit that he hadn’t wanted to be on his own and the same was true for Ria, it would be too easy for her to get lost in her own head again and that was the last thing she wanted right now. “Great, then it’s settled,” she said, her smile returning as they set off. She knew that she really would have felt bad if Adam had showed her around and paid for lunch so at least this way she could thank him for being kind enough to help her. Then Adam asked the question that she had been dreading and Ria turned to look at him, unaware that her eyes chose that moment to glow gold. “You probably wouldn’t believe me if I told you,” she said before looking away. She knew that Adam hadn’t been honest with her earlier either, she still didn’t buy the fact that it was allergies that had made him cry and she wasn’t sure if she was ready to tell him everything either. Sure you are, I bet you’re a real saint,
Adam chuckled at her words when she called him a real saint. "You know what, I kinda am. Do you wanna know how many cookies I handed out when I was younger? Like... Like a ton of 'em. People love...d me." Adam added a past tense in that because he wasn't so sure that people still love him. He had been acting out a lot more these days and he continuously hurt those around him. Or if he wasn't hurting them, he was keeping them at an arm's length. As they set off, Adam finally decided to ask that question that had been weighing heavily on his mind and it had everything to do with a statement that Ria had said earlier. It seemed to pique his curiosity but he also worried about pushing her or making her feel uncomfortable. He felt like he had just made a good friend and he didn't want to risk losing her. His life had been so ... lonely and it was no one's fault but his own because he had been purposefully pushing people away because he thought it would be best for them not to get hurt by him.
Adam's eyes widened momentarily when he saw that Ria's eyes had glowed gold. He had a werewolf for a friend and he knew about their presence and a part of him wondered if she was like him, too. He didn't get scared, though. Maybe he just looked caught off-guard momentarily, but other than that, he didn't pull away or run in the other direction. It only made him want to get to know her more and more, actually. Her eyes looked ... kind of beautiful, though. They were so mesmerizing. "Try me," Adam said with a soft smile resting on his lips. "I won't run, I promise." He added a moment later, looking at her with a gentle look on his face. He wanted to tell her that her eyes had glowed in that moment but he didn't. Not right now, at least. Maybe in a bit. He just wanted her to tell him more about her. "I'll tell you more about me if that's what you want, too." Adam promised in a soft voice, his eyes still focused on the other.
