Kaden was a seasoned detective when Enrique, the rookie, had joined the ranks of detectives and became Kaden's new partner. Somehow, he learned that Kaden had been feeding information to their largest target, and Ricky sold him out, despite Kaden's explanation. You can read more about it in Ricky's app HERE, but, basically, when Kaden had been assigned to the case, the drug lord they were following had put multiple plants into Kaden's life. So, when Ricky ratted on him, his wife and two children were killed, the criminal slipped through their fingers and got away scot-free, and Kaden was put in prison.
My idea is that, basically, Kaden was quickly killed in prison for being a snitch and/or a cop. When he died, he had so much anger towards Ricky and what had happened that he was hand-picked by Wrath, the mortal sin. His soul was fast-tracked to become a demon, as Wrath felt that he would be a perfect subject, bringing pride to the Sin's legacy. He was brought back to life as a demon, in his original body, and is hellbent on torturing Ricky just as Kaden had been tortured in hell, wanting to finally get his revenge. Kaden has followed Ricky to Mystic Falls, where other Sins are flourishing, as well.
Notes
- Ricky was 24 when Kaden was sent to prison, so I imagine him to be at least ten years older than Ricky in order to have seniority on him, but that can easily be changed.
- Ricky is 37 now, I imagine Kaden was dead for a little while, being tortured in hell and basically indulging further into his rage.
- Ricky's new partner is a rookie, JOEL MCGRATH , and I imagine Kaden would want to kill him from of association
