til now. Abandon without a clue of his past. Years in a workhouse, more on the street, scrambling and thieving to survive. A brief respite of something better before his lungs started to fail him, Enzo knew suffering long before Lily Salvatore turned him on the way to New York and left him to figure out what he was by himself. For a few years afterwards Enzo was alone again before another angel found him. An angel who would happily employ his 'abilities' for a couple of decades before she tasked with something of the utmost importance, keep her boy alive in war. Inevitably Enzo would fail. Before he could slink away from the field to find himself a new life or take the punishment for his failure they found him. Over the next 75 years Enzo would be tortured by the Augustines with little respite. Slowly hardened to the pain they could cause, he clung on to that once hopeful heart he had, believing he would be free. It did not happen, his one chance of it snatched away as the man he had thought was a friend left him to burn. Now Enzo is being prepared for a new task by Wes Maxfield, one bound to cause pain but perhaps it will bring freedom finally too.
friends. Only one might even have been worthy of the name. As a child and a young man Enzo knew better than to let himself get close to anybody. The kids in the workhouse, his gang, the dockers, none of them wanted to grow close, the mob kept him as a tool, despite his place at the table. Damon was the only one ever to truly see beneath the surface and then he was leaving. It will take extraordinary lengths to break through that shell again.
enemies. Inevitably after years of torture - the Augustines. Currently led by Wes Maxfield, Enzo's hatred is targeted. Damon, for leaving him. What remains of Chiara's family perhaps, blood was certainly spilled after all.
family. It is Enzo's belief that he has none. Nobody laid claim to him at the workhouse but the truth was his mother had tried to protect him from his father and the thing being kept in the Armoury. An aunt long dead too. It would seem there are none left but there are secrets out there, which when uncovered will entirely change Enzo's world.
lovers. There is a romantic heart in the shattered shell. Perhaps his first real love was for Lily Salvatore, although this was perhaps more maternal than anything. There had some brief physical connections for but his heart opened for so few. Having fallen for Maggie, knowing that she wanted him to turn her and escape with her, Enzo compelled her for her sake and sent her away. After that he hardened his heart again, not imagining that perhaps he would ever be free of this place and able to live and love again.
