til now. Nicholas Reid has always been a man out of his time. The second son in a line of warlocks who had been operating J. Reid and Sons, purveyors of junk and powerful objects alike for centuries. The calm to his wild older brother Nicky was the first in the family to attend a grammar school, a university (Oxford no less). The first to want to expand beyond that run down looking shop in a quiet corner of Camden. Once he graduated from Oxford with a degree in Business Nicky took to the road ... and found failure. The world has not been the oyster he predicted. When Europe proved plundered Nicky made his way to the new world, finding little more there but obtaining a partner in the process. While Bastien Thorn minded the shop and found himself host to a Horseman of the damned apocalypse, Nicky remained on the road. Returning to Mystic Falls he's found his partner changed and bigger problems on his hands than just a lack of success.
friends. When you spend your entire childhood an outlier - the quiet kid, the watchful kid, the brainbox - when you're told not to tell others what you are - it tends to leave you a little isolated outside of your own family. Nicky was always closest to his brother Darcey, although leaving to take J. Reid and Sons international has left that friendship somewhat distant. In a small way his business partner Bastien has stepped up into that role. Others will need to crack the shell around Nicky to see what lies beneath the shell he exists behind.
enemies. These are unlikely for the moment. Unless you count those looking to take Bastien on in a Hellish way, or those who were on the losing end of the deals Nicky makes.
family. Family was everything to Nicky growing up. The Reids always kept to themselves so it was just their little family unit - papa Jeremiah, mama Marge (Margret), big brother Darcey, far littler sister Mandy (Amanda). The five of them were as close as family can get, until Nicky struck out on his own, leaving Darcey to one day take over the shop and Mandy to break hearts across Camden (before her eldest brother followed in her wake breaking heads).
lovers. That special one has eluded Nicky, not that he's made a vocation out of looking. Women have drifted in and out, company enjoyed very much but there was always a new town, a new city, a new country to move on to. Convince him to stay put, get your hooks in and there's a chance you might turn his head, or those crystalline blue eyes, finally.
