The twins weren’t going to have the opportunity to be surrounded by her family. Even if they did end up in England at some point they wouldn’t have her mum ushering them into the kitchen, feeding the kids and Henrik from that ever bubbling pot on the stove, so full they’d feel like they were bursting as they staggered out into the living room. They wouldn’t have dozens of cousins floating in and out of the house the way she’d done thanks to the spread of her sister’s ages. Henrik’s family meant that they wouldn’t be entirely without but it wasn’t the same and some part of Olivia was going to always feel that. She would’ve loved for it to happen, for her brothers and sisters to see her happy again after so much pain but all they would have was that same ephemeral connection she’d clung onto and draped in lies all these years.
Olivia slanted a smile at Henrik, although she knew it wasn’t enough. His own was fading already. He could read her like a book, he had since that first time. She wasn’t going to bring down tonight with it, not after all he’d done. She wrapped her fingers a little tighter around his and squeezed fiercely so he’d know she appreciated the care. Glad that the lump in her throat eased as they’d spoken about his sister and Elijah, Olivia eased in and pressed her lips to his for a moment. ”They take after their father. Between them and Tatia, Elijah doesn’t stand any sort of chance.” Even if he did want to Elijah was a soft enough touch for family that he wouldn’t and she knew they all loved him for that. Even Niklaus and Kol.
Her smile had come back full force, a chuckle rolling out now as she poked Henrik in the arm before she allowed him to take her hand. Surprises had left her anxious once upon a time, too much having happened in her life for her to want to be blindsided again but in Mystic Falls times had changed and now she looked forward to these moments. ”You’re a sneak,” she teased. Hazel eyes narrowed, a low hum rolling through her throat. She wouldn’t complain, not after all of this tonight.
The clutch in the pit of her stomach at Henrik’s suggestion left her breathless. Olivia tried to blink the tears away, the hand free of his gripping at her napkin, squeezing tight enough that it felt like she might crush it into dust. They were all immortal – Henrik’s family, her, the kids could be, he was the only one who wasn’t and she’d have been lying if she hadn’t wondered if the angels would make another appearance in the end, snatching him away again after he’d had a measure of happiness.
Tears burning as she sniffed them back, Olivia shook her head. Not because she didn’t want him to but to ward off the idea of him still possibly being killed. She couldn’t go through that again, it had almost killed her after she’d been brought back the last time and now they had the kids too. It wasn’t enough time, would never be close to enough time with him. ”You already do,” she whispered, her voice watery. He’d fought to stay with her, had fought to protect the kids ever since. For love, for family, for them. Pushing the napkin aside, she curled her hand around his as he held it to her cheek and nodded. Olivia broke on a sob, rising out of her seat to wrap her arms around him fiercely. ”It scares me, it all does, but … yes. You know I’d do anything to make sure I won’t lose you again. I won’t get to see the kids put grey in your hair or watch the lines make you all the more handsome, but I’d get to have you and I want that so badly.” Her hands found his cheeks now, her lips pressing hard against his.

For a long time Henrik hadn't remembered the time he had spent in Heaven after he was brought back by Crowley. A part of him had known that something was up and he had felt a connection to Castiel but he hadn't known exactly why that was. Thankfully Castiel had brought back his memories of that time so now he remembered everything but he also remembered just how lonely it was and he knew that he never wanted to go through that again. He had come close when the angels had quite literally dragged him back to Heaven and tortured him but the people he loved had fought to bring him home and he knew that he wasn't going to let anything like that happen again. Henrik would be the first to admit that things didn't always work out the way he planned, the fact that his kids and so many others around town had been aged up over night was proof of that, but at the end of the day his intentions were good and he always did his best to help those around him. He had thought that he had lost the chance to be with Olivia and watch their kids grow up and now he was determined to make the most of that chance. "He loves it really. Elijah has always been a softy when it comes to family," Henrik chuckled. Elijah had always been the same with him, he had loved spending time with his brother when he was younger and Elijah had never seemed to mind even with the age difference between the two of them and it had made things that much better. There were a few kids around his age in the village while he was growing up but he had always been closest to his siblings and he knew that that was as it should be. As Olivia called him a sneak, he felt a smile form on his face. "Perhaps but you still love me," he grinned, knowing that it had been worth it to see the look on her face. Henrik knew that his suggestion was a lot to take in but the truth was that it was something that he had been thinking about for a while. He loved Olivia and he loved the family that they had built together so he knew that he wanted to keep them with him forever. Olivia was a kitsune which meant that she didn't have to age if she didn't want to and she had decided to stay the same even after George had died. The kids were part kitsune so they would have inherited that option from their mom and his siblings were all vampires or hybrids so they weren't going to change either. He was the only one who had to keep growing older right now but there was something that he could do about it and he knew that he wanted to since it meant that he would have the chance to stay with the people he loved and make sure that they didn't have to go through the pain of losing him again. Seeing the tears in Olivia's eyes was enough to make Henrik's heart ache but he hoped that this time it would prove to be a good thing. It was something that he had been thinking about a lot lately and he wouldn't be surprised if Olivia had been as well. "I've got a lot to fight for now," he admitted. He had Olivia, the kids, his siblings, Hope and so many people who had come into his life during his time in Mystic Falls. For such a long time he had felt alone but now he had so many people he loved and he knew that he never wanted to leave them again. As Olivia's arms wrapped around him, Henrik wrapped his arms around her in return and he hugged her tightly. "You'd get to have me just like this, I think that's better than old and grey," he chuckled, not hesitating as their lips met and he kissed her back fiercely. "I love you so much," he breathed. "I know you can decide whether you age or not but this way you won't have to give that up," he said, knowing that he didn't want to be the reason why Olivia began ageing again especially if the kids chose not to. "At the risk of completely overwhelming you, there's one more thing I want to ask you," he said, keeping Olivia's hand in his as he slipped out of his seat and got down on one knee. "Olivia, I've been crazy about you since the day I met you. Back then I didn't want to let anyone get close to me but somehow you managed it and you've had my heart ever since. We haven't talked about this before but I'm in this for the long haul and now I know you want to spend an eternity with me it feels like the right time to ask," he said, reaching into his pocket with his free hand and pulling out the ring that he had bought some time ago. "I never knew what it felt like to be in love until I met you and even after everything that has happened you make me feel like I deserve it every day. You're an incredible woman and a fantastic mother and I feel so lucky that you've chosen me to be the one you build that life with. If this isn't what you want I'll understand and it won't change the way I feel about you but I love you with all of my heart and I'll always regret it if I don't ask," he said, his eyes locked on hers as he spoke. "Olivia Campbell, will you marry me?"OLIVIA CAMPBELL

Knowing that Henrik had his family around him had made the pregnancy less scary. Waking in the street to find Henrik gone and Lucy hovering over here with the sort of news that would tear that wound inside of her wide open again. She couldn’t do it alone, not even for the few weeks that he’d been gone. The family that had mourned their brother for a thousand years, coming together again here. No matter the reputation of each of them Olivia had trusted that they’d never stop fighting to get Henrik back, just the way she wouldn’t, and they would be there for their brother’s children. It was a reassurance she could feel in her chest even now as they joked around tormenting Elijah with the kids. No matter what they had someone, they all did.
That warmth spread through her chest as she squeezed Henrik’s hand to confirm his grinning comment. She loved him and probably had by that first night they had spent together in her apartment. ”Always,” Olivia whispered hoarsely. Just as she always would George. One love wouldn’t erase the other. They were dual candles in her chest, joined by those burning so bright for her children the minute she’d learned she was pregnant. Burning as long as she breathed. As long as they did and that would be a long time now.
They weren’t always but the tears in her eyes were of happiness now, even if it might not have looked it. A weight lifted, fear freeing itself from the chains that had wrapped her heart in it for so long. Olivia’s lips curled as her fingers brushed his ears, his cheeks lightly. She drew back just an inch to look at him with those glimmering hazel eyes. ”We both do,” she managed. ”I’ve been given so much since you came into my life.” That one chance meeting guiding her onto the new road she’d been seeking for so long. The chuckle was a little watery but stronger than before, the sobs subsiding. ”I don’t know, I think you’d be able to pull off some streaks. They’d be distinguished.” Her fingertips traced the line of where they would be through his temples. Olivia swallowed hard, her head bobbing slightly. This way they wouldn’t leave the kids or his family behind when the time came like she’d had to leave her own.
Sandy brows rose as he slipped out of his seat. Olivia moved, her brow furrowing as he began to get down on one knee. ”More?” she asked breathlessly. She knew the more, had been here before but this time was no less special, it made her heart pound in her chest just the same. The tears brimmed again, her lips pressed together as that declaration of the love he always made sure she felt spilled out. Olivia’s other hand came up to cover her mouth, the tears beginning to roll down her cheeks. ”Yes.” The word was a croak as she nodded at him. ”Yes, yes, I’ll be your wife. For an eternity. You’ve given me so much. I thought after … I thought there was no way my heart would ever open again but you did it. You had me falling and I never want to stop. I love you. I love you and I can’t wait to be your wife.” Not as eloquent as his speech but the words were trapped there in her chest. Wrapped up in that love, curled around the space her children occupied in her heart, Henrik the seal that held them all together. The centre of so many worlds.

It had never occurred to Henrik that life could be like this. When Crowley pulled him out of Heaven he had done the demon’s bidding for a long time and he had wanted to start building a life for himself but he hadn’t had the confidence to do that until he had learned that Elijah was still alive after all. That day had changed everything, finding his family again had helped Henrik see that he should have a second chance at living a life of his own and while Crowley had remained a part of his life and he still helped the demon when he needed it he had started building a life for himself as well and he knew that he wouldn’t have it any other way. He was beyond happy with the way things were with Olivia, she was his first love and they had two amazing children together but he knew that he wanted more than a human lifetime with her and he was glad that she wanted it too. He had loved her for much longer than he had been willing to admit it, even before they’d found each other again in Mystic Falls there had been something there between them and those feelings had grown stronger with each passing day. He knew that it was different for Olivia, she had been in love before and she’d lost George but in the end he’d found peace and now Henrik and Olivia were free to start the next chapter of their lives together. “You’ve done the same for me, I never thought my life could be like this,” Henrik admitted gently as he leaned into her touch. None of this would have been possible if not for Olivia and he knew that he wouldn’t have it any other way. He didn’t just have his siblings now, he had Olivia and the kids as well as a lot of friends and people who had become family to him during his time in Mystic Falls. Having any of this had always seemed to be so far out of reach but now he had a life so much better than he ever could have dreamed of and he knew that he wasn’t going to give it up without a fight. “I don’t think so somehow, no one needs to see that,” he chuckled. The idea of growing older while everyone around him stayed the same had been bothering him ever since he’d found out what had happened to his siblings but the truth was that he hadn’t felt ready to do anything about it until now. He’d lived for years as a mortal and he had enjoyed it but Olivia and the kids all had the choice not to age and Henrik knew that he didn’t want any of them to have to lose him that way one day. Henrik knew he was risking overwhelming Olivia completely since he’d already asked her how she felt about him making himself immortal so that he could stay with her but he knew that he needed to ask now before he lost his nerve. He loved Olivia and that was something that he had known for a long time but now he knew that he needed to at least ask if she was ready to take the next step like he was and as he got down on one knee he could see in Olivia’s eyes that she already knew what he was going to ask. Henrik found himself waiting with bated breath after he’d asked the question, he’d meant it when he’d said that it wouldn’t change the way he felt about her if it wasn’t what she wanted but he knew that he would regret it if he didn’t ask. The first word out of her mouth was yes and that was enough to make Henrik’s heart leap. “You will?” he asked, hardly able to believe it. “You’ve done the same for me, I fell for you and I fall for you a little more each day,” he said, bringing his hand up and letting it rest lightly against her cheek. “My wife, I like the sound of that,” he admitted, slipping the ring onto her finger before getting to his feet and pulling her into his arms as he kissed her passionately. “I love you so much,” he breathed, his lips brushing against hers before he kissed her once more. Some people came into your life and changed it forever. Olivia had seen others go their entire lives without it happening but three times that luck had come to her. If she’d been placed on anybody’s doorstep other than Florence Ashby’s she could’ve grown up in misery, might not have grown up at all – so many children had died young in those days. Florence had taken her in, had loved her like her own, and when the time had come and George had roared into her life in his plane, had allowed her to slip away with just a few tears. She might have been gone for decades but every time she looked at her children or did some small thing Florence had, Olivia felt the love for her mother burn in her chest. George had loved her just as fiercely, training her, falling for her, giving her a new life in his village, and when the time had come he’d laid down his life for her. When the angels had come for her, Henrik, in a way, had done the same.
Olivia’s smile was a little damp, quivering around the edges. She’d had a life before him, a love, a marriage, an adulthood, and it had been taken. Getting a new one had felt like a miracle until the angels had turned up and suddenly in a blink of an eye it seemed as though it was gone. ”Didn’t imagine two hellions making things interesting?” she asked, chuckling tearily as she trailed her thumb down to below his lower lip. ”We’ve given each other something amazing.” They would continue to for centuries to come if their luck held. Henrik would cast his spell and would stop aging, the same way she had, the way his siblings had. No wrinkles to carve time into that handsome face, no grey to work through his hair to show the years they’d spend together. Olivia’s smile slanted as she shook her head at him. ”They’d all love to see you live a long and happy life.” They would have their proof of that without the grey, all built on the memories they had with someone heaven had seen as unworthy of it.
She hadn’t expected it, the absolute sneak, but it would be marked by the gold band on her finger too. The proposal had been completely out of left field, a loving sucker punch after Henrik’s first question. Just a lifetime with him and the kids would have been enough for but … The tears were a flood now, joy and love a fist in her throat that it was hard to get that yes out. Olivia let out a sobbing laugh, smiling at him hard enough to have her cheeks hurting. ”I will,” she confirmed. Her hand trembled as Henrik slipped the ring onto her finger, steadying only when she threw her arms around him and poured all that love out into the kiss. ”You better,” she whispered against his lips. ”You’re going to be stuck with me forever now. My husband.” The tears slowed, her cheeks glowing from them as she hugged him harder. Drawing back from the kiss, she winged a brow at him. ”Do the kids know what their dad’s up to?” She would’ve put money on all three of them being involved in the conspiracy.

Henrik had been wanting to do this for a long time but other things had ended up getting in the way. It was strange to think just how much things had changed since he’d first arrived in Mystic Falls, back then he hadn’t known that his family was still alive and he hadn’t thought that he would ever find something like what he and Olivia had. She had been a friend to him first but if he was honest there had been something more there on his part at least long before he had realised it. He knew that she’d had a life before him, she’d told him all about it when they met, and Henrik had been through so much before their paths had first crossed but over time they had started to help each other move forward and for that he truly was grateful. The family they had built together was one that he had never even let himself dream of, he had felt sure that this life would always remain just beyond his grasp but he was glad that he had been wrong about that. The angels had tried to rip it away from them when they’d killed Olivia and tried to drag him back to Heaven with them but thanks to the people he’d loved he was brought back to them and now he had the chance to live the life he’d always wanted with the woman he loved. “Not quite but I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Henrik chuckled. He had never thought that having kids would be on the cards for him after everything that he had been through but Olivia had given him that chance and the truth was that he couldn’t imagine his life without the kids in it now. He loved them more than he had ever thought possible and that was why he wanted to make sure that he had the chance to stay with all of the people he loved. It would be up to the kids to decide whether or not they continued ageing when the time came and he knew that it had to be their choice but this was his and he was glad that Olivia wanted it too. “We have and I want us to be able to continue doing that,” he admitted. His whole family was immortal or had the chance to be so he knew that it made sense for him to do the same thing. “They’re going to get that chance because you’re all going to be stuck with me,” Henrik assured her. He had already been taken from them all twice and he knew that he wasn’t going to put them through that again. This was what he wanted and he knew that having forever with the people he loved was never going to be a bad thing. Deep down Henrik knew that he probably shouldn’t have done all of this in one go, it was one thing to ask Olivia about him becoming immortal but it was something entirely different to ask her to marry him. Olivia had been married before and the truth was that Henrik wasn’t sure if it was something that she had wanted again but he had known that he would have regretted it if he hadn’t asked. He had been trying to prepare himself for Olivia turning him down so for a moment he was shocked when she said yes but it wasn’t long before he was slipping the ring onto her finger and pouring everything he had into the kiss. “I wouldn’t have it any other way,” he promised, tears stinging his own eyes as he cupped her face in his hands and stole another kiss before wrapping his arms around her and hugging her tightly. As she asked if the kids knew what he was up to, Henrik shook his head. “No, I didn’t tell anyone,” he admitted. “I didn’t want say anything in case this wasn’t what you wanted,” he explained. He had meant it when he’d said that he would have understood if it wasn’t what she had wanted but the truth was that he was so glad she had said yes. “I didn’t want you to feel any pressure to say yes.”OLIVIA CAMPBELL

The last time she had married her family had been there to witness it. They’d had no idea that half of the congregation in that little church were something like she was, things as they might’ve put it. Still, it had been bitter sweet, Edward walking her down the aisle, filling that role of father, like he and Jack had always done, Alice, Daisy and Vi in bridesmaids dresses Alice had somehow sewn at the last minute, her mum. It had been one of the last times she’d see some of them. Now there wouldn’t be a single relative of hers there to see her walk down the aisle again. It should’ve crushed her heart but Olivia knew there would still be people there who loved her. The kids, both probably roped in – Alice, named for her aunt, as her maid of honour, Connor a groomsman at the very least, one of his uncles likely to take the roll of best man – Nick, Luke and Lauren on her side. Family no matter that blood wasn’t involved with the three of them. The family she had now.
As Henrik chuckled the words, Olivia felt them deep down in her gut. The last couple of years hadn’t been easy at times but she wouldn’t have had it any other way. Everything they’d gone through had brought them here and the destination was all that mattered. Her smile curled fondly, blonde hair tumbling as she shook her head. ”Nothing could stop us from doing it.” Olivia promised. The spell Henrik would cast on himself wasn’t quite like the one that had left his brothers and sister immortal, there was still a chance he could be hurt, but he wouldn’t fall sick and leave her, withering away into old age and ill health while her and the kids probably wouldn’t age. Olivia leaned in to press her forehead against Henrik’s, kissing him fiercely like it would stamp the promise onto each word they spoke. ”Not one of us is going to complain about it,” she whispered honestly. ”Every minute we have is a gift.” One she had almost lost. When she’d woken on the pavement with Lucy standing over her it had seemed like the chance of all of this was gone but the universe hadn’t been done with the two of them yet.
The laugh rolled out of Olivia with a faint watery edge to its sound. She pressed her face into his throat, squeezing her eyes shut for a moment before she pulled back and lifted that brow at him in challenge. ”You thought I might’ve said no? Did you hit your head while you were considering all of this?” Olivia clucked her tongue, clapping her hand against his shoulder as she laughed again. The sound was stronger this time, the burst of tears giving way to a stunned joy. With one arm still wrapped around his neck, Olivia only had the one to brush her thumb over his cheek like she could take his tears away before they even fell. ”I wouldn’t have wanted anything else and I wouldn’t have felt pressured. All that I wanted from the moment we stepped into this was you, and the kids. You’re my life now and nothing is going to change that. I love you. I will always love you.” It didn’t take the ring to make that happen but it would show that love to anybody who looked at her, as if it wasn’t already written all over her face. Slowly slipping from her seat, Olivia tugged at Henrik’s hand to pull him up with her. ”How about we make the most of our time with the kids gone and celebrate this?” Hazel eyes slid innocently towards the ceiling as heat rushed up into her already flushed cheeks.

It had never occurred to Henrik that he could end up having a life like this. When he was brought back he had thought that he would end up having to do Crowley’s bidding for the rest of his life but as time went on the demon had become family to him and after learning that his sibling were still alive after all he had realised that it was time he started living his life properly. Bumping into Olivia was the first step towards him doing that, they had met before they’d both ended up in Mystic Falls and they had become close, Olivia had told him what she was and Henrik had done the same. She was the first person outside of Crowley and the rest of his family that he had confided in and as time went on he had fallen in love with her. Now they had the kids, they had a home they had built together and now they were going to have the rest of eternity together. “You’re right, every minute is a gift and now we’re going to have so many more of them,” Henrik nodded, a smile touching his lips as he looked over at Olivia. Their time together had almost been cut short and Henrik hadn’t thought that he would get to see Olivia again when the angels took him but he had been given a second chance and he knew that he wanted to make the most of it. Making himself immortal was a big step but with everyone he loved already immortal or capable of choosing to become so he knew that it was what he wanted. He loved his family more than anything in the world and even though he knew that casting the spell wouldn’t stop him from dying it would at least make sure that he didn’t have to worry about falling sick or dying of old age and that at least would be a weight off his mind. As Olivia spoke, Henrik’s cheeks flushed red. “I wasn’t sure if getting married again was something that you wanted,” he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck in a nervous gesture. “I didn’t want to make things awkward if it wasn’t.” They already had an incredible family and he really hadn’t wanted to do anything to jeopardise that. Henrik knew that George was always going to be important to Olivia and the guy would always have a place in her heart and he hadn’t wanted her to feel like he was trying to replace him. A smile touched Henrik’s lips as Olivia brushed her thumb over his cheek and he leaned forward and kissed her gently. “I love you too. Always have and always will,” he said, unable to deny that he was happy in that moment. There was a time when Henrik had thought that he didn’t deserve any of this but Olivia had helped him see the error of his ways and now he knew that he would do anything to keep this life that they had. Watching as Olivia got up and tugged at his hand so that he would get up as well, Henrik’s eyes drifted up towards the ceiling for a moment as he felt his smile return. “I like the way you think,” he said, bringing his hand up and letting it rest against her flushed cheek before leading the way in the direction of the stairs and up to their bedroom. She’d always known not to count her blessings. When she had an amazing mum who’d had no worldly reason to take her in and make things harder for herself, a first husband who’d saved her life before she’d even laid her eyes on him, a boyfriend who’d opened her heart again, that she’d made two incredible kids with, it was almost impossible. Olivia had seen just how easily it could be snatched away, each good thing in her life eventually lost. She would’ve been insane not to want to hold on to that she had with both hands now, she almost had after all. Now she curled her fingers around Henrik’s, squeezing in agreement with his words. She could look that gift horse in the mouth, it wasn’t going to matter, her, the kids, him, they were all going to be beyond the pain she’d suffered through so many times before. A reassurance to seal off those wounds in her heart, and in his. Henrik wasn’t going to leave his family again, wasn’t going to leave her and the kids with all the guilt in the world weighing on his shoulders.
Now she felt light as a feather, floating around Henrik with her heart the thing anchored in his hands, connected through the ring he’d slipped onto her finger. Olivia lifted her hand high enough to look at it before she slapped it against his shoulder. ”I love you, there’s no way I’m not going to want to when I feel what I do for you. I loved George but … there’s room in my heart for another, and there has been since I started to fall in love with you.” Her eyes burned faintly again as she let her hand find his cheek. ”It would never be awkward. I love you and I want to spend my life with you, watching our kids grow up.” They wouldn’t grow grey the way her brothers and sisters had, time creeping into the photos that would arrive in the post, touching their lives but not erasing the happiness each of them had been blessed with.
Olivia let all of that happiness swim through her with Henrik’s kiss. The arm she had around his shoulders tightened slightly, her heart swelling with that love in her chest at the kiss, his words. Her eyes were misty as she drew back an inch to smile. They’d always not had their always, the angels trying to tear her heart apart a second time. Luck and the people who loved him had brought Henrik back in the end. ”I love you too, always.” Her hand slid down from his cheek to settle over his heart before she slipped out of his lap slowly. She wanted him to feel it in every touch, for their hearts to beat together the way they always did when they made love. ”Well,” she drawled mischievously, letting her hips sway as she followed him up the stairs. ”It’s all practice for the wedding night, right?” Innocence lasted all of five seconds. Olivia pressed in close as they slipped into their bedroom, her eyes on his as she slipped her fingers beneath the hem of his shirt. Just like their first time, only here in the place that had become their home instead of the apartment, that slow dance, the press of her lips against his again that promised everything before she was tugging his clothing away, wanting to feel his heart beat against her skin.

Henrik knew that he needed to find a way to put his insecurities to rest once and for all, Olivia had been in love and had been married before but George had found peace and there wasn’t a doubt in Henrik’s mind that he was the one that Olivia wanted to be with now. Henrik was incredibly proud of the family they had built together and he knew that he wouldn’t change it for anything in the world. They hadn’t talked about having kids but he had seen the joy on Olivia’s face when the twins were born and he knew that they had both given each other the kind of life that they had never thought that they would get to have. Getting married wasn’t something that they had ever talked about either but Henrik was old fashioned, he knew that none of his siblings were married but he truly believed that he had found the love of his life and he knew that he wanted to become immortal so they could spend the rest of their lives together and as far as he was concerned there was no better way to do that than as husband and wife but he knew that he would have understood if Olivia hadn’t wanted to go down that route again. Thankfully he hadn’t needed to worry about that after all, though, and he couldn’t help but laugh as she slapped his shoulder before he rubbed his shoulder playfully. He was about to ask what that was for before Olivia spoke and his expression softened. “I’ve never doubted that you love me,” he assured her gently. “I just know how much it hurt you to lose him and you’ve already lost me once. I wasn’t sure if you would want to go there again,” he admitted, leaning into her touch as her hand came to rest on his cheek. It was a big step but it was one that Henrik had felt ready for and he was glad that Olivia was as well. “I want that too,” he said, a smile touching his lips as his eyes met Olivia’s. Henrik knew that Olivia could have resumed the ageing process if she’d wanted to but with the kids half kitsune and all of his family immortal Henrik knew that it made much more sense for him to become immortal as well especially not he knew that Olivia wanted to spend more than just a mortal lifetime with him. Pouring everything that he had into the kiss, Henrik found himself smiling into the kiss as Olivia’s arm tightened around his shoulders. They had come so close to not being able to have this life, the angels had killed Olivia and after he’d made a deal with them that he would go with them if they let him bring Olivia back he knew that they could have easily never seen each other again. Thankfully his friends and family had fought to get him back and not a day went by when he wasn’t grateful to all of them for that. Henrik’s heart skipped a beat as Olivia said that she would always love him too and he didn’t hesitate in following her up the stairs. “You’ve got a point there,” Henrik chuckled. “You know I’ll never say no to practice,” he added, his hands finding her waist as they entered their bedroom and her fingers slipped underneath the material of his shirt. Henrik’s lips found Olivia’s once more, only pausing the kiss so he could slip her shirt over her head and he walked her backwards over to the bed. Lifting his arms to help Olivia remove his shirt as well, Henrik gave her a gentle push as her legs it the edge of the bed and he connected their lips once more as he leaned over her, his hands exploring of their own accord as he found himself getting lost in the moment. Some didn’t move on after the loss of who they thought was the one love of their life. For decades Olivia had believed that was her, like she was heading down the same path her mother had after the loss of her husband – but without the dozen kids to fill her home. Every now and then she’d considered adopting, perhaps allowing herself close to someone just long enough to try for a child. It would have been cruel though, always forcing them to run the way she did, not giving them the settled life they’d deserved. If she’d been psychic, able to see what was coming, she wouldn’t have believed that would never be on the cards for her. George hadn’t been her only love. Henrik had slid into that hollow in her heart like the space had been carved out perfectly for him. The universe had seen what was coming and had guided her towards it. She had her settled life, the person she was always meant to share it with, two incredible kids, and the bar. She couldn’t have asked for more, didn’t dare to now, but Henrik was giving it to her anyway. Everything her heart had ever ached for. Olivia felt the burn at the back of her eyes as she settled her hand against his jaw. Her thumb traced a line beneath his eye tenderly as he leaned into her touch. Some part of her had wondered if she would be strong enough to ever pick herself up again when the angels had come for Henrik but for the sake of the twins she’d managed it. If the worst came … she doubted her heart would ever open up again, but she would survive, because of George, of Henrik, she knew she could and would. ”I would do it all again for just a day more with you, let alone an eternity,” she promised. ”Yes, yes, I want go there again. I want our life together, no matter where it takes us.” Or how much it could possibly hurt. She’d learned time and time again through the tragedies in her life that tomorrow wasn’t guaranteed. You had to wrap yourself in the love while you had it. Her lips curved, her smile chasing back her tears as Olivia pressed a kiss to his smiling lips. They would get what they wanted, their life with their children, watching them age as far as they wanted to, finding their way through the world, through love, just as their parents were. The wedding would be the public display of that. The kids, Henrik’s family, hers in the form of Luke and Nick and Lauren. All witnesses to just how they felt about one another. Then, they would slip away to somewhere private to celebrate that together. When you had two teenagers in the house those private moments were few and far between. Olivia’s grin had been mischievous as she’d suggested taking one now and only grew brighter with it as Henrik agreed. ”I love that about you,” she swore breathlessly as Henrik’s hands found his waist. ”Your willingness to say yes to your fiancée.” One hazel eye winked at him before her shirt was slipping off over her head. With her skin bare to him, Olivia went to work getting Henrik into the same state. She kicked off her pants as she tumbled back. Fingers found the lean line of her back, her mouth captured by his, all that heat bubbling up the same way it had the first time, in that tiny apartment above the bar. Even more in love with him now than she had been then, Olivia slipped under in that heat, happily drowning in everything her fiancé would give her. ~~~~~~~~~~~Fade to black~~~~~~~~~~~~
