til now. Only minutes younger than his twin sister, Danielle, Cory always found himself taken care of by her growing up. The family were poor but happy, dreams always hovering on the horizon before they were shattered by a bank robbery that cost them not only their savings but their dad's life. After that their mom was never the same, she took to the bottle, leaving Danielle to watch over Cory all the more. She did an incredible job of it but even she couldn't stop the leukemia that tried to ravage his body. It was a fight Cory would eventually win and he would be able to go on to college but fate wasn't done with him. A tragic road accident cost Cory his life and left the wife of the drunk driver desperate to get her husband back. As a witch she did just that, trading favour after favour until she worked her way up to a rogue reaper who would be able to get both her husband and his victim out of heaven. The reaper half kept his deal, he brought Cory back but instead of getting her husband too he double crossed the witch. The reaper took up residence in Cory instead, forcing him to carry on his work for him. In those brief snatches of time that Cory spends free of the reaper's influence he's been tracking his sister, travelling now to Mystic Falls to track her down.
friends. If he did ever have many of these outside of his twin sister, Danielle, they're gone now. That's what happens when you die. Cory's not exactly looking to settle in Mystic Falls and make a new life for himself, especially not when he might have to reap the people around him at the drop of a hat. He's likely to shy away from people especially at first but once you push past all of that you'll find a decent guy.
enemies. Cory never would have imagined he had any. Up until his dad was killed life might not've been opulent, but it was happy. There were some bumps in the road after that but until he died and was brought back enemies were the last thing on his mind. Now he's got a rogue reaper riding around in his head, risking not only crossing Death, but ticking off others in the process.
family. A dad who worked construction, a mom who had dinner on the table for them every night, a twin sister he was close to. It was perfect apart from the fact that money was always thin on the ground. That all changed the day Cory's father was killed in a bank robbery. With his mom falling apart the only person Cory had left was Danielle. His sister always protected him, always took care of him, even when it was at her detriment. Now Danielle is the only person Cory is fighting his way back to, the one person he's desperate to protect from what he's become.
lovers. Cory had brief relationships with a couple of girls in college but there was never much room for romance in his life. First of all it was being a shy, gangling kid who never fit into the popular cliques at school, then it was getting sick with leukemia in college, then he was dead. Not falling in love with all of that going on is kinda understandable, as is him not being keen on doing that now, with a rogue reaper riding shotgun in his head.
