28 . Darach . Owner of the Grey Haven
til now. The downfall of the Maddox family started long before Grey's own life went to hell in a hand basket. An issue with another druid family generations back leaving them damned and travelling down a dark path to being darachs rather than druids. After the death of his mother when he was just a few weeks old Grey was raised by his father, an emissary to the local werewolf pack ... and birth father to the Alpha's daughter. Malcolm's slow descent into insanity like so many generations and indiscretion with the Alpha's wife eventually lead to his slaughter. Just weeks later, when Grey found the ravings of his dad in journals he went to confront the Alpha and instead found himself at his half-sister's insane mercies. Fighting back, Grey ended up killing her instead of the other way around. Knowing that the pack would be on his trail in retribution Grey left for America. Starting work in cheap motels he slowly worked his way up, owning his own first hotel in his mid-20s, following a trail through the US as he looked for the family of druids who had damned his own to end this vicious cycle. In Mystic Falls he's closer than he ever has been to that truth, using every power in his sacrifice fuelled arsenal to track Danny down and end the druid line for good, finding an echo of himself in a young darach who saved his life after an attempt at killing a young wolf on the Hit List went bad. The problem is that his past has also crept closer in town. Back from the dead and strutting about as a reaper, his sister, Leah, is trying to tear his life apart again. Coming for Destiny, biding her time until she can reset the scales that saw her dead and Grey climbing out of the foul depths of his family's curse.
friends. Acquaintances? Will that do? Friends haven't really been on the cards. Grey had them as kids amongst the werewolf pack but when you kill the daughter of the alpha friendships have a tendency to disappear pretty damn fast. Cynical as he is Grey's going to find it hard to trust. The closest he's come to are the assistant manager who's trailed him up the ladder with his hotels and Destiny, the darach who found him after a near death experience and with Tinkerbell like grace healed him.
enemies. Grey definitely collects these more than friends these days. The Alpha and his previous pack are after him and thanks to the family 'curse', he's planning on making enemies of the druids his family seemed to have gotten entangled with years before. A few extra enemies are worth breaking that right? Little does he know that his half sister Leah is back from the dead as a reaper and is looking to destroy him before she's done.
family. Dead, dead and dead. Grey's mother took her own life due to her husband's infidelity when Grey was six months old. His father was killed by the pack when he was 18 and just a few weeks after that Grey killed his own half sister, Leah, to save his life.
lovers. Love hasn't really come into it for Grey before. There've been girls he's played around with, women he's slept with and discarded but love, that's messy and right now, mess isn't what he wants or needs. Or so he thought. Wading into it with Destiny Grey has started to realise that there's finally someone he does want, someone to protect from the gradual downfall of his line.
