Heaven was supposed to be a place of peace where worries were a thing of the past but it hadn’t been that way for Henrik. Thanks to Cas restoring his memories of their time together he knew that for a while he had been happy there in his own personal Heaven but he had also been incredibly lonely. Shunned by the angels just for being a Mikaelson, Henrik had soon found his thoughts turning to his siblings and the friends that he had left behind on Earth when he died and he had often found himself wondering about the life that he might have had. It had helped when Cas had started spending time with him and over time the angel had become both a friend and a father figure to the young boy but even that had eventually come to an end. Crowley had brought him back so that he could be used to sway his siblings to join the demon’s cause when the time came but that plan had failed miserably. Crowley had still lose and Hell was now being run by Azazel but the truth was that the former King of Hell was safe and he and Henrik were still in contact with each other so Henrik knew that things could easily be a lot worse. The life he had now was better than he ever could have imagined while he was in Heaven. He had his family around him once more, so many faces from his past were back in his life and he had a girl that he loved. He hadn’t told Olivia that last part yet, perhaps a part of him had been too scared to in case he ended up losing her, but he knew in his heart that it was true. She had already met certain members of his family and that day she had met another person who was pretty much family to him. That day a simple get together had been arranged with Lucy and after they’d all had something to eat the three of them made their way outside. Even as they moved away from the Diner Henrik couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was following them and a short while later after they’d taken a few turns and the feeling hadn’t subsided he knew that it was true. He, Olivia and Lucy had been talking on their way but Henrik soon fell silent and he turned so that he could face whoever was following them. “You’ve been following us since we left the Diner, what do you want?” he demanded, unsure who the group of four men and women that had come to a stop at the same time he’d turned were until the sound of wings came from behind him and he turned to see another group blocking their way. In that moment he knew that they had to be angels and a spell was on the tip of his tongue in an instant, ready to be unleashed should it be needed. OLIVIA CAMPBELL & @lucy

Lunch with a witch who could drain power from others. It should’ve been as ludicrous as George informing her that she was an ancient fox spirit all of those years ago but in the decades that had passed since she’d saved her gun emplacement with the power of that spirit Olivia had seen and felt more than she had ever believed possible. Until she’d met George she’d never paid all that much mind to the mysterious things that occasionally happened around her. Her mum had undoubtedly hadn't a clue that anything on than humans existed, not even realising once the debonnaire pilot had turned up on their doorstep. It had been a big enough shock to her but once they were living it in it had been a world she couldn't imagine leaving behind. She had though. It had taken time to start to get it back afterwards but Mystic Falls and the family she’d discovered here again had filled in that hole in her heart. Henrik had made it really beat again. On the night they’d come clean to one another she’d promised she was ready to be in a relationship again, she hadn’t told him then that she was already more than a little in love with him. Not it wasn’t so much of the little. She’d met his family, of all sorts, that included those who weren’t related to him by blood. From what she’d been told Olivia knew that Lucy had been a good friend to Henrik and she was glad for that. Even in his own way Crowley had done just that but she couldn’t imagine the King of Hell strolling through the streets of Mystic Falls with them after they’d left the Diner.
Strolling along, smiling at the warmth of the sun on her face and the conversation that flitted back and forth Olivia hadn’t noticed the tail. They’d taken a few extra twists and turns through the streets but caught up in the conversation, in the pleasant drift of the afternoon she hadn’t considered anything was wrong until Henrik had fallen silent. The uncomfortable feeling started in the pit of her stomach then, that anxious flutter that left her feeling almost nauseous. Her hands were held out by her sides as she turned, vibrations already rolling through her palms. ”They’re all angels?” she asked, hazel eyes whipping from the groups that were now hemming them in, to Henrik, to Lucy, back to the men and women. ”Whatever you want here it’s not going to take eight of you to get it,” Olivia managed weakly. As one of the men, with a terrifyingly passive expression on his face stepped forward and extended a hand towards Henrik Olivia felt the dread settle heavier. ”You’re coming with us,” he explained coolly. ”I wouldn’t utter those words. It won’t help and it will only turn this into a fight.” Olivia shifted uneasily on her feet as his eyes met hers. She took a half step closer towards Henrik, her gaze skittering to Lucy again. Heaven wasn’t what it once was, she’d heard that, but what reason did the angels have for coming to fetch Henrik. ”I think it’s going to be one anyway.” The corner of her mouth rose almost sadly even as fear started to claw at her throat. Olivia felt that tremble in her bones grow stronger, the sidewalk beneath their feet letting out ominous groaning sounds.

| Lucy hadn’t intended to run into Henrik when she had. She had simply been going out for her lunch at work when she had run into Henrik, who had been out with his girlfriend. She had been about leave when she had been invited to join them both. They had a pleasant lunch together and Olivia learned about what she was for the first time. How she and Henrik knew each other. Not a typical witch Lucy was. She had no magic of her own. She had to take it from other sources of power, in order for her to wield it as her own.
Eventually they were leaving the diner and Lucy was about to be heading back to work. Though the school was in the direction in which they were headed so she walked with her friends and would part from them when it was time.
Though they never got that far. As they walked Lucy felt a feeling of dread coming over them. As though they were being watched and not by anyone friendly. She paused briefly and turned around to face where she had just come from. She seen nothing but wasn’t entirely convinced they were alone. She ran a little to catch back up with them, but quietly started to siphon from some of the magic held within her pendant.
Henrik however seemed to have the same feeling that she had and turned sharply and there was one. The one Lucy had also felt had been following them. A rustle of feathers and she turned back and there were more that had landed in the direction they had just been walking from. Henrik demanded what they wanted.
Lucy in her life had never crossed paths with an Angel and was suddenly glad that she never had. They certainly weren’t the loving healing light that biblical books depicted. Now there was eight of them surrounding them. Three against eight. Odd’s certainly wasn’t in their favour, ” He won’t be going anywhere.” Lucy answered the angel, ” You have no right.” Lucy warned him. With magic coursing through her she agreed with Olivia when she said that it was going to turn into one.

Henrik really had enjoyed the day with Olivia and Lucy but now that they were making their way through town the feeling he’d been having more and more over the last few weeks that this happiness he had found couldn’t possibly last started creeping back. He knew that he had been lucky to be given a second chance at life and ever since he had found the confidence to break free of Crowley’s influence he had been doing his best to atone for some of the wrongs that his siblings had committed over the years. Since arriving in Mystic Falls he had been trying to keep the balance and make sure that at least some of the people who died before their time because of their involvement in the supernatural world didn’t stay dead for long. He was trying to use the magic he had been born with for good but lately he had been feeling like he was living on borrowed time. When he had found Cas and freed him from Hell he had asked whether the angel would take him back to Heaven and Cas had assured him that he wouldn’t. Henrik hadn’t understood why then but since learning of their connection it had made sense. Cas was family to him and one thing that neither of them ever did was turn their back on each other. That didn’t mean that all angels shared Cas’ sentiment, though, and as Henrik became aware that the three of them were being followed he had a fairly good idea who was responsible even though he desperately wanted to be proved wrong. He could tell that Lucy had the same feeling of being followed that he had and as their followers were finally revealed he could tell straight away what they were, having spent enough time around Cas in order to be able to do so. As Olivia asked if all of the people surrounding them were angels, Henrik nodded. “They are,” he confirmed, already aware that he had a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. He knew that the safest thing would probably to go with them like they wanted but the truth was that he had so much to fight for now. In the last few years he had been reunited with his siblings, he had made a lot more friends and he had fallen in love. He had built a life for himself in Mystic Falls and he knew that he wasn’t ready to leave any of those people behind. Not only that but Olivia was pregnant and he refused to leave her to raise their child alone. He hadn’t shared the news with her yet but he had sensed it and he knew that he didn’t want their child to grow up without a father around. He would be lying if he said that he wasn’t touched as both Olivia and Lucy stood by him and a half smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he looked over at the angel that had spoken. “You heard them, I’m not going anywhere,” he said, keeping his grasp on his magic as he did so. “Have it your way then,” the angel sneered before lunging forward. Before he had even taken two steps Henrik unleashed a spell and sent the angel flying backwards, more spells flying in both directions as the fight took hold. OLIVIA CAMPBELL & @lucy

Fear had been a familiar friend for decades after George had died. She’d been held tight in its grip in the first few months after she’d fled their village leaving her dead husband behind, waking with it choking her, feeling it in the gallop of her heart and the burning itch between her shoulder blades when a stranger in the street began to pay a little too much attention to her. It had taken forty years for it to loosen it’s grip entirely, for her to go weeks without feeling it’s icy touch. Since she’d come to Mystic Falls Olivia had started to feel as though she’d entirely left it behind. Fear had finally let go, letting hope take its place … until today. The joy of lunch with Henrik and his friend faded in an instant as it became obvious that they’d been surrounded. It wasn’t the same, she tried to tell herself, her heart fluttering like it had bird’s wings in her throat. Her hands were outstretched, the vibration of the earth already pulsing through them, ready to tear up the ground around them if she had to. Whether or not her power would work on angels was still to be seen but she wouldn’t let someone kill the man she loved, not again. She wouldn’t let them take Henrik either. He’d been given a second chance at life, it wasn’t going to be snatched from him like this.
So much for heaven being the better of the two options. Her mother’s assurances that the people headed there were going to a better place had always been comforting in a way but not now. Olivia swallowed down the bitter taste in her throat as she focused on one of the angels behind them. ”Not really living up to your reputation, are you?” she asked, glad to hear that the hysteria she was bordering on wasn’t making it in to her voice. Her brows rose as she lifted her head, offering the angel who had threatened her a stony look. ”You honestly don’t know who you’re messing with,” she tried to warn. The angel took no notice, not so much as a smug movie villain smile touching his lips as he went to brush past the two women. It was like they had been waiting for the signal from the angel, all of them beginning to move in.
Olivia gasped as one shot backwards, thrown by the power she felt radiating out from Henrik. The fight was raging in an instant. Seeing the angel who’d spoken to her rushing Henrik from the back Olivia cried out, throwing a hand out, down. The sidewalk beneath the angel buckled in an instant, the paving slabs splitting to reveal a gaping hole beneath him. It was as though the dirt and gravel beneath reached up for the angel, dragging him down and out of sight. ”We have to get him out of here,” she gasped at Lucy as she turned towards her, throwing her hand out again to buck the ground beneath the feet of a female angel who was approaching the witch. ”Can you do that? Is there some spell that will transport him?” Her hazel eyes were desperate as she saw the angel immediately find her feet again. For God’s sake, they had to get the message. This couldn’t turn into an all out battle in the middle of town.

| Lucy had been perfectly serious when he said that the angels had no right. Though truly they were seriously outnumbered, and these were warriors of heaven… despite their bravery their only hope was getting him out of here. Lucy looked over at Olivia when she said they weren’t really living up to their reputation and Lucy had to agree. If anyone that didn’t have a right to be here it was her. She had been avoiding death now for over a century.
She cast her eyes to the side, she could already feel the familiar pulse of magic through her that she was siphoning off her talisman. Power radiated through her, from her as the angels moved in for the attack. She turned sharply and released the power at the angels coming for Henrik from behind. The power flowed from her hand in a burst on energy one went flying back. Lucy had no power of her own, she only took it and it then became stronger through her. Though magic was only as strong as how much you knew in regard to using it. As a witch you were always learning and growing each day.
Lucy wished she knew anything that would actually work against angels. These were celestial beings… things that would work against vampires or wolves would probably feel like they were swatting flies. Sure, she had pushed one away, but it was back up and advancing again seconds later. She heard Olivia say that they needed to get Henrik out of there but there was nothing Lucy could do. Even if she new a spell she doubted she would have the magic to pull it off, ” I’m afraid not.” Lucy told her without looking at her because she was too busy keeping the angel in front of her at bay. At the minute she had him pinned to the ground but the strength of the angel pushing against the spell that bound him there was too strong and the binds were failing, ” We can’t keep this up forever…” Lucy remarked. If Henrik were to leave, there was nothing stopping the angels from killing them and then finding Henrik later.

Henrik had enjoyed being able to spend time with both Olivia and Lucy and he was glad that they had finally had the chance to meet. Both of them meant a lot to him and it was important to him that they got along. He hadn’t been able to admit it to Olivia yet but he loved her and Lucy was an old friend so he hoped that they would end up seeing more of each other. Ever since they left the Grill he had felt like someone was following them and that sense of unease hadn’t yet subsided. He couldn’t seem to shake the feeling that something bad was going to happen and that was the last thing he wanted. It had taken a thousand years for him to be given another chance at life but the time hadn’t been right before. If he had been brought back by someone other than Crowley then chances were that he wouldn’t have met anyone that he knew now and he might have never found his family. He knew how fortunate he was but he knew now that he really had been living on borrowed time and it seemed like that had finally caught up with him. Angels showing up wasn’t something that Henrik had expected but Olivia and Lucy had made it clear that he wasn’t going anywhere and Henrik knew that he would fight until his last breath to stay with them. It had taken him years after he was brought back to find a place where he belonged but he had that in Mystic Falls and that wasn’t something that he wanted to lose. “Not all angels are like this,” Henrik admitted as Olivia said that the angels weren’t living up to their reputation. Castiel couldn’t be more different than the angels before them now. They seemed like they were going to stop at nothing to get what they wanted but he, Olivia and Lucy weren’t defenceless, they were all able to look after themselves and none of them were going to give up without a fight. No sooner had the angels started to move in than Henrik unleashed the spell that had been on the tip of his tongue. There was a time when he had found himself wondering why Crowley had wanted him to learn so much about magic but it had certainly paid off over the last few years and it was doing so again now. Sending another angel flying backwards, Henrik shook his head as Olivia asked Lucy to get him out of there. “I’m not going anywhere without the two of you,” he assured them. No matter what happened he wasn’t going to abandon them and that was something that he was certain of. “We have to keep fighting, we can do this,” he said as he unleashed another spell even though he wasn’t entirely sure that he believed his own words. He needed to believe it though; he had so much going for him in Mystic Falls so the last thing he wanted was to end up alone in Heaven again. OLIVIA CAMPBELL & @lucy

Mystic Falls wasn’t anything like their village in Canada, the angels who’d seemed to descend out of nowhere nothing like the two hunters she and George had tried to help, the street not remotely like that rural road that had been filled with the flash of lightning and silver streaks of rain. It was a million miles away but still flickers of what had been overrode what was in her mind. Olivia saw it all like movie images overlaid. Henrik in front of the two of them, preparing to protect her against those looking to take what was hers again, the grim looks on the faces of the angels, that smug assurance that they could do just what they wanted, no matter whether or not they actually had the right to. It was a false righteousness, one she’d fought against time and time again. With George they’d failed, the hunters had killed him before they could be stopped. Fleeing, she’d still had her husbands blood drying on her hands, tears streaming down her face to splash on them.
Olivia was determined not to run this time. They were in the right, Henrik deserved to live his life down here, not be trapped in heaven again, leaving behind the family who’d only just got him back, leaving her behind. Her words drew a sneer from the angels, her threat not getting much more of a reaction but it was true. They had no idea what she could do, or what Lucy was capable of. Olivia felt power full the air around here, Henrik’s spell, Lucy’s power from the talisman she wore. The angels the two of them had hit flew away from them but it didn’t put them down for long. The only way Henrik would be safe was if he wasn’t here. There was desperation in her voice as she asked Lucy if there was a way to get him out. Tears burning in her eyes as Henrik said he wasn’t going anywhere without the two of them. ”Lucy’s right,” she told him. ”If we stay they’ll overpower us in the end. We can’t keep them at bay forever.” They couldn’t stop that much power, no matter how many angels she buried beneath the sidewalk.
Seeing all of this it was hard to believe that there were angels out there on their side. Olivia’s eyes darted around them, trying to find some way out of the ranks that were closing in on them again. ”Can we call them?” she gasped, taking a half step back. ”The ones you trust … Castiel?” Seeing an angel start towards Henrik from the street side, Olivia twisted again, her teeth bared in a snarl as she opened up the street, the ground rising up and gripping the feet of the angel like quick sand. Maybe if she could get them all buried in the ground they’d have the room to run at least. ”I’m going to try,” she told the two of them as she backed up towards the building so she would have something solid at her back. ”If you can get them all together I’m going to try and open up the ground enough, give us space to get out.” Olivia licked dry lips, her hand held out, vibrating slightly as she focused on the ground under her feet. It jerked as she was grabbed from behind, a gasp tearing free before a thick arm banding around her neck, the silvery glint of a blade catching the light as it was aimed at her chest.

| If there was one thing, she and Olivia were in agreement on that they weren’t going to just let these Angels take Henrik. After meeting these angels Lucy was starting to think that even Heaven wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. She didn’t want him being taken there. Since they were less than inclined to grant their request to send Henrik off with them a fight broke out in the middle of Town Square.
Henrik reacted first when the Angels moved in for an attack. Lucy, who had been siphoning magic from her pendant since she felt as though they were being followed. Unleashed a blast at telekinetic energy which sent two angels flying backward from the force. Though just as quickly as she had sent them back, they were on their feet again. They were keeping them at bay… but eventually they would lose.
Eventually she managed to get one pinned to the ground with a quick binding spell. Quick, simple but powerful… also required almost all her concentration. When Olivia asked if she could if she could teleport him out of here Lucy’s answer was quick and certain… she couldn’t. Even if Henrik did get himself out of here the angels would just follow and so he would then be even more vulnerable. When Henrik said they needed to keep fighting Lucy looked to the angel and tightened the binds that held him in place to an almost crushing extent.
She heard Olivia’s plan and she nodded, ” Alright…” She was going to wait for the perfect moment to release the angel and have him come running into the zone which they were going to herd the angels into. Though out of the corner of her eye she seen an angel come up behind Olivia, blade brandished in his hands, ” Olivia watch out!” She shouted in urgency but to no avail. She flung out her hand as her concentration on her other spell broken as she tried to telekinetically fling the blade out of the angels’ hands.
Lucy however was too slow as the blade came striking down and plunged into her. Lucy’s hand shook as she then turned her sights on the angel mustering all the power that she had, gathering it in her hands. She was about to release the energy after muttering the words of her spell and was stopped when she felt the sharp edges of a blade at her throat and the whispering words of an angel in her ear, ” Release that spell and you end up like your friend…” the angel hissed the silver blade at her throat and Lucy knew that he meant what he said and so the energy she held in her hands dissipated, and she raised her hands in surrender.

Henrik had felt like eyes were on them from the moment the three of them for some time but he hadn’t known for sure who it was. Ever since Crowley brought him back he had been trying his best to live a good life and help as many people as possible but he had known that there would probably still be angels who didn’t believe that he deserved another chance at life or weren’t happy with what he had been doing. He knew that the magic he had been performing while he was in town was risky but his life had been taken far too soon and he hadn’t wanted the same thing to happen to others. He had always been careful about who he brought back, often only helping those he knew deserved it who were stuck on the Other Side, but he knew that there were those who didn’t like him for being a Mikaelson anyway. A lot of damage had been caused by his family but Henrik still felt like he was to blame for it all no matter what Olivia or anyone else said. It was his death that had triggered their mother turning the rest of his siblings into vampires and Henrik knew that he was probably always going to feel guilty about that but he was doing everything in his power to make up for it. The fact that it was angels that had been following them was enough to fill Henrik with dread but he knew that he wasn’t going to give in without a fight, nor were Olivia and Lucy. Had he not had so much to lose then he knew that he might have gone with them to save anyone having to fight for him but he had his family back in his life now, he had more friends than he’d ever had before and he had Olivia. She didn’t know yet that she was carrying their baby but it was something that Henrik had sensed in her a little while ago and he knew that he wasn’t going to give up the chance to be with her and raise their child together if there was another option. Fighting angels wasn’t ideal especially since they had never done so before but that didn’t mean that they weren’t still going to give it their best shot. “You’re right, we all need to get out of here,” Henrik nodded. How they were going to do that he wasn’t entirely sure but he knew that they had to try. Unleashing spell after spell as the angels continued their attack, Henrik tried to help Olivia and Lucy out as much as possible too but as Olivia asked if they could call Cas, Henrik shook his head. “He’s weak and his grace is fading fast. He would try to help if I called him but they’d kill him straight away,” Henrik explained. He knew that he couldn’t risk it, it had been difficult enough getting Cas out of Hell so he knew that he couldn’t ask the angel to get involved in this fight. Nodding as Olivia said that they needed to gather the angels together so that she could open the ground up, Henrik started doing just that and his back was turned as Olivia began to use her abilities but he quickly whirled around at the sound of Lucy’s voice shouting out to Olivia. Even as his gaze came to rest on Olivia the blade was cutting into her and a second blade was at Lucy’s throat and he felt his heart break. “No!” he cried out, his anguish fuelling his magic even more and sending out a telekinetic wave that sent every angel flying backwards far away from the three of them. With Lucy free as the angel that had been holding the blade to her throat had also been thrown backwards and the blade had dropped out of his hand, Henrik rushed over to Olivia and gathered her into his arms. “You’re going to be fine, I promise,” he assured her, muttering every spell he knew to heal her even as his eyes stung with tears. “Just hang in there, you hear me?”OLIVIA CAMPBELL & @lucy

Desperation to save the lives of those she cared about had driven her to great heights with her power before. Staring down the angels that had come to take Henrik down to heaven Olivia knew that she would do the same if she had to. They could protest about his freedom all they wanted, they weren’t having him back. He had a life here now, one he should’ve had in the first place. He had family, friends, he had her and she’d already lost far too much to lose anybody more. Digging deep she had begun to fight alongside him and Lucy, their magic swirling around them, sending the angels flying, her own power burying one beneath the sidewalk. None of it was keeping them down for too long, the angels had abilities that they couldn’t even dream of. Their only hope was to run but Lucy had already made it clear that wouldn’t just mean getting to disappear from this spot and turn up somewhere safer.
If she could’ve just taken Henrik’s hand and forced him to run with her she would’ve done in a heartbeat but the longer they fought the angels the clearer it was that their only way out of here was to fight their way out. Olivia knew she would fight as long as she had to but if only there was another way. Her lips pinched as Henrik said that Castiel was too weak to help. ”One of his friends?” She already knew what the answer was going to be though. Drawing on what she had been taught about strategy during the war, what George had taught her about her own power Olivia came up with something. The angels herded together and a mass pity for them beneath the earth. Dozens of feet down. She doubted it might not hold them forever but it was going to give them time. She drew in a breath, steeled herself as she looked back and forth between the two of them. ”Ready?” she asked. She steeled herself to pull off the move, the ground already bucking beneath her.
Had the word given the angel just long enough to move in? Olivia didn’t know. Suddenly there was an angel there behind her, his arm across her throat, cutting off her voice, his blade hovering over her heart. Hazel eyes went wide, even as Lucy called out a warning to her. She tried to twist, to free herself even as the ground bucked beneath her feet but then, as Lucy flung out her hand the angel plunged the blade into her chest. The pain was immediate, burning cold, boiling hot, stealing her ability to breath as the angel let her crumple to the ground. They were massing around, closing in behind Lucy with another of those blades as she stared up at the sky, trying to drag air into lungs that no longer worked as they should. In a heartbeat the angels were gone, thrown away by Henrik’s power. Olivia felt tears break over her lashes as Henrik gathered her close. She shook her head as she clung weakly to him. Not this time, she thought. ”I l-love you,” she whispered, her lips turning blue as air whistled in and out of the hole in her chest. ”D-don’t forget … p-promise me you won’t.” Her eyes brimmed with more tears, making his face swim in and out of focus. Another struggling breath and then her chest fell still. Olivia’s body slumped, her hand falling away from Henrik as she slipped away.

| Lucy’s offensive spells in her repertoire were quite minimal. She had never really needed to attack anyone. Let alone fight anyone for survival. Defensive magic was right up her alley. Binding one of the angels required concentration, had she kept it, she could have kept the angel bound for a significant amount of time. A spell whipped up in the heat of a moment could be strong but have a downfall.
When she agreed to Olivia’s idea, she was ready to drag the angel she had bound into the area where Olivia needed him to be. Though a flash of a blade caught her eye. She shouted to Olivia to watch out though her shout was to no avail when the blade came up in a gleaming arc and plunged down into Olivia’s heart. That was all it took the angel that she had bound to advance on her with a blade to her throat and the magical energy that was about to leave her hands dissipated in order to save her own life.
Moments after she felt Henriks magic wash over her as a telekinetic force sent the angel holding the blade to her throat flying. In her freedom she too ran over to where Olivia had fallen. Determined for the angels not to cause any further damage Lucy drew on the magic within her pendant and wrapped it around all three of them forming some kind of invisible impenetrable barrier. She didn’t know how well it would hold up against angels, but it might allow time for Henrik and Lucy to heal Olivia.
She was about to join in with healing spells, the angels were advancing slowly, though they made no attempt to get through her barrier. She sent healing energy Olivia’s way; out of respect she didn’t crowd them as even with their magic… the wound was just too severe. When Olivia slipped away Lucy managed to keep it together, barely, for Henrik. Giving him just a few moments she managed to find her voice, ” Henrik… I…” Lucy started, ” I’m sorry…” Lucy murmured gently as she placed a hand gently on his shoulder.

For a while now Henrik had been unable to shake the feeling that things in his life were too good to be true. He knew that this wasn’t how thing were meant to turn out for him but he had been trying to make the most of the hand that he had been dealt. He hadn’t asked to be brought back by Crowley but the demon had done it anyway and Henrik had known that he would regret it if he didn’t make the most of his second chance. He hadn’t thought for one minute that there was even a chance that his family were still alive given just how long it had been since he had died but he had learned the truth when he’d arrived in Mystic Falls and he had been doing his best to build a life for himself ever since then. Now he had not just his family around him but friends as well and he had found Olivia too. He hadn’t planned on something more happening between them but he had fallen for her a long time ago and he knew that he was pretty sure that she knew that even if he hadn’t said the words as such. He hadn’t thought that she would ever feel ready to move on from her husband but she had found a way to do that and the two of them were happy together. Things were going well for them but, as usual, all good things had to come to an end sometime and as Henrik had realised that they were surrounded by angels he had already figured out that this was that time. Olivia and Lucy were fighting to keep him with them and he was fighting tooth and nail to do the same but a part of him suspected that it was all in vain, he just wasn’t ready to admit it. “None that will get here in time,” Henrik said, knowing that it really was down to just the three of them. Even if he had called one of his siblings and asked them for help he knew that it would be too late by the time they got there and it would cost precious time that they just couldn’t afford right now. Instead he knew that they had to keep fighting and Henrik was already starting to manoeuvre the angels into position when Olivia asked if they were ready and he only stopped at the sound of Lucy’s cry. The angels wanted him, that much he had known from the start, but Henrik hadn’t for one moment thought that they would kill innocents to get to him. Olivia and Lucy were trying to protect him because they loved him and now it seemed that Olivia was going to be the one to pay the price for that mistake. Henrik had never unleashed a wave of magic like that before but he knew that it was necessary to keep the angels at bay while he healed Olivia and he could feel the magic radiating from the barrier that Lucy created around them as he held Olivia in his arms. “I love you too,” he said, tears rolling freely down his face as he held her to him. He was doing his best to heal her but he could already feel that she was slipping away from him and he knew that he had to do something. Olivia didn’t even know that she was carrying their child but he could already feel like his world was coming crashing down around him and he refused to let that happen. “I won’t. Never forget how much I love you,” he said as he leaned forward and pressed his lips lightly against hers. He knew that this wasn’t going to be the end for Olivia, he wasn’t going to allow it, but if what he had in mind worked he knew that it would be the last time they got to see each other and he knew that he didn’t want Olivia to forget how much she meant to him either. Feeling his breath catch in his throat as Olivia took her last breath and slipped away from him, Henrik held her close to him for a few moments before snapping out of it as he felt Lucy’s hand on his shoulder and heard her say that she was sorry. “This isn’t over,” he said fiercely, laying Olivia down gently before using his magic to draw the angel that had killed her to him and picking up the angel blade the monster had dropped when he had been thrown backwards. Without even thinking about it he plunged the blade into the body of the angel, killing him instantly. He could see the way that the others were looking at him now but the truth was that he didn’t care. Right now he had lost everything and he knew that he needed to do something drastic to change that, something that would result in him never being able to see Olivia or their unborn child again. That wasn’t what he wanted but he knew that she needed to live and he had to give her that chance even if she was going to have to do so without him. “After what your brother did I could kill every one of you and not bat an eyelid but I won’t risk Lucy’s life for vengeance. Instead I’ll make you a deal. If you give me the chance to bring Olivia back and promise that you’ll let her and Lucy go then I’ll leave with you willingly,” he said, knowing that he couldn’t risk his friend’s life as well. Lucy’s magic was limited to what was in her pendant and his own wasn’t going to last forever either and there was no telling how many other angels were nearby and would be able to step in and help so he knew that this was their best chance. As the angels agreed to his terms, Henrik returned to Olivia’s side and called on the magic that was so familiar to him now to bring her back. It would be a few minutes before she awoke and he would be gone by then but she would be ok and that was all that mattered to Henrik. “I’m sorry you got dragged into this,” he told Lucy as he pulled her into a hug. “Promise me you’ll look after Olivia and yourself as well?” he asked, hoping that she would. “You both deserve to be happy so don’t let anything stop you from following your heart while you can,” he said, knowing that his own life would have been very different if he hadn’t done that. Conjuring the two envelopes containing the letters he had written to Olivia and to his family when he had started feeling like his time was running out, Henrik held it out to Lucy. “Can you give this to her when she wakes up and the other to my family? She’s going to need a friend so I’m count on you,” he said, a smile touching his lips as he took a few steps backwards. “I’m glad I got to see you again,” he added as the angel closest to him stepped forward, placed a hand on his shoulder and with that they all disappeared. OLIVIA CAMPBELL When Olivia opens the envelope she will find a letter inside in Henrik’s handwriting that reads as follows: -
My dearest Olivia,
If you’re reading this, I’m already gone. I wish with all my heart that things could be different but they can’t so it’s time for me to stop fighting and accept the fate that should have been mine a long time ago.
I’m sorry that I broke my promise to you. I told you that you weren’t going to lose me but that’s exactly what has happened; just know that if I had a choice I would stay with you for the rest of my life. I didn’t ask to be given a second chance but if Crowley hadn’t brought me back then I wouldn’t have met you and that’s something I’ll never regret. In such a short time you became my best friend and you captured my heart. I wouldn’t take back a minute of the time we’ve spent together and even though I can’t be there with you I know a part of me will live on not just in your heart but in our little boy or girl as well. I would give anything to be there with you to watch them grow up but that isn’t on the cards for me. Whether we have a little boy or little girl I hope they look like you and I hope they fight like me and stand up for the innocent and the weak. Either way I know they’re going to make their mark on the world one day because they’re going to have you guiding them and they’re going to get you through this. I know you’re going to be an incredible mom and my family will look after both of you if you’ll let them.
I might not have been very good at telling you how I feel about you but I think you’ve always known deep down the same way I have even when we haven’t said the words out loud. One day you’ll move on and find someone else and that’s ok. All I’ve ever wanted is for you to be happy so when the time comes don’t feel guilty about it, embrace it.
I’m sorry our time together has been cut short but I love you, never forget that, and I’m holding on to the hope that we’ll meet again one day. I don’t know if we will be lucky enough to see each other again but if we are then I know I’ll have found my home.
Forever yours
Henrik

Finding out from George that she was a kitsune had been a shock to say the least. Sitting in their ordinary little kitchen table, hearing her sisters whisper in the next room about the handsome pilot who’d turned up, it had sounded ludicrous. She was supernatural, a fox shapeshifter of sorts, one imbued with the power to make the earth literally rise. Eventually he’d talked her around but it wasn’t until they were back in one of those fields with George showing her what she could do that Olivia truly believed that she was something more than she’d ever expected she could be. That tutelage had become love, and then loss. Being a kistune had allowed George to do incredible things too but it hadn’t made him truly immortal. Hunters had killed him for trying to save their lives and her own had shattered. Meeting Henrik, then finding him here again had helped her piece those last bits of it together. Olivia had known that maybe it wouldn’t last forever, but she’d never imagined this. She’d never imagined that she’d be the one dying in his arms, having tried to save his life.
The dread that had lingered in the back of her mind when Henrik had gone to help a friend for a few days had leapt back a thousand fold. It turned into an icy cold in her chest as the angel plunged the blade into her chest. She’d seen what the angels were capable of when they’d turned up now but she hadn’t anticipated this. In trying to save Henrik she’d left herself open to attack, the same way George had all those years ago. Freezing fingers shook as she tried to lift her hand to wipe the tears from Henrik’s face as he told her he loved her. Tears burned down her own face, searing her eyes. ”N-never,” she breathed against his lips. ”I’ll always w-watch over you.” She knew that the other side existed, no heaven for her but somewhere she could still watch over those she loved even if she could do nothing. The sensation of Henrik’s lips against hers followed her there as the last breath slipped from her own.
”Olivia, come on, you’re missing the day.” The voice rose through the air. Olivia gave a low hum at the sound of it, burrowing back into the covers. ”Lazy…” A hand tugged at the covers, shook her leg beneath them. Rolling onto her back, Olivia peeled her eyes open and smiled softly at the man sitting on the edge of the bed. George. Her throat worked. It wasn’t like the dreams she’d had of him before, they’d always ended with the crack of lightning, had been dark and forbidding. He slanted a smile at her, settling a hand on her lower leg. ”You need to get up,” he said softly. ”He’s calling you back. You should go.” Frowning, Olivia tried to muscle her way out from under the covers. ”The angels…” she managed hoarsely. ”They were taking him, they … oh God …” Tears burned in her eyes again as she tried to find the wound on her chest. George’s smile faded a little. ”They were but Henrik managed to do something to keep you safe. He loves you, like I always will. You should go back now, Olivia, you have a life with him. I want you to live it. I want you to have the life we couldn’t have.” The tears began to spill as she shook her head.
George stood, turning as though he heard something. He turned back, offering her the same crooked grin she’d fell for in her mother’s kitchen. ”We’ll see each other again one day,” he promised. Then the room was fading, rushing away like the tide. Olivia shut her eyes against it, her body bucking as she sucked a breath in again. Pushing against the ground, barking her elbows against it, she tried to rise. ”Henrik … Henrik …” Vision blurring with her tears, Olivia looked around and only found Lucy. No. No. They couldn’t have taken him. ”What happened? Where is he?” George’s words echoed in his head. Henrik had managed something to keep her safe.

| Inside the bubble of protection, she created she watched as the essence of life slip from Olivia’s body. She gave Henrik a moment before resting a hand on his shoulder saying she was sorry. Death seemed like the end for her. She didn’t know what it was like to lose someone you loved that deeply, to death. She had lost her brother. Even if he had woke up in transition to be a vampire the moments, she thought he had died were some of the worst moments of her life. This wasn’t the same.
Henrik lay Olivia on the ground saying that it wasn’t over. He drew the angel that had dealt the blow to him through the circle of protection that Lucy had drew around them and ran him through with his own blade. Lucy gasped in surprise and watched as the angel’s eyes burned with celestial energy, whitish blue light burning from his eye sockets as the body sagged to the ground his, eyes burned from his skull. Henrik turned to face the remainder of the angels.
She listened to what Henrik was saying and quickly realised where it was going and as soon as he said it she surprised herself with how strongly she said what she said next, ” No, Henrik that is not any sort of plan!” Lucy replied dead set against this idea. She watched as Henrik crouched over Olivia again working magic that she had only heard of, power that she wasn’t used feeling. The magic flowed to him easily.
While Olivia didn’t wake up straight away and Henrik turned to her apologising that she got dragged into this. Lucy shook her head and Henrik pulled her into a hug and tears started to fall freely. She was losing probably one of her only friends. Someone who hadn’t seen her as a freak for not having her own magic, ” You don’t have to go… We can think of something. We just need time.” Lucy argued the fact. He made her see that there wasn’t another way. It seemed to her that he had been feeling as though his time was up for a while when he pulled out the pre- written letters. She sighed eventually realising this was the best option even if she didn’t want to lose her friend, ” OK. I promise. I’ll give it to them.” Lucy promised wiping her tears away nodding when she took the letters from him.
The protection circle she had drew around them rippled as she stepped over it though she didn’t’ dare lower it, ” So am I…” She managed to reply before he and the angels winked out of existence. Lucy let out a huge shaky breath as she turned to Olivia who was still unconscious on the ground but breathing and completely healed.
She turned to face her and crouched over her waiting until she woke. She began to feel the cold set in when Olivia next to her drew in a sharp breath, making Lucy jump a little, ” Take it easy…” Lucy instructed gently, her hands reaching out to slow her getting up. When she asked where he was Lucy bowed her head and looked upset, ” He made a deal. He would go with them willingly if he could bring you back and swear, we would be left alone…” Lucy explained. She couldn’t have held that spell protecting them indefinitely, she would of ran out of magic eventually and the spell would of fallen… and they could have all ended up dead. She had seen the sacrifice he had made though it didn’t make it any easier to accept.
Moments later she remembered the letters that Henrik had given her, and she held out the one with her name scribed on the front, ” He asked me to give this to you.” Lucy said holding it out to her, ” Do you want to read it now… or I can help you home first?” Lucy asked her. She would stay with her while she read it if she wanted her to, leaving it entirely up to her at the minute.
