After Elena was sacrificed in order for Klaus to break the curse placed upon him to bind his werewolf half she is brought back to life when John Gilbert gave up his own life for her. She finds herself plagued with strange dreams and visions of the lives of her doppelgangers which leaves her confused not only about Stefan and Damon but life and love in general. Klaus is determined to make his hybrid army but can't figure out why they keep dying. That is until he realizes that Elena is still alive and believes it to be the reason. When he tries using her blood in order to turn Tyler he realizes that he needs her in order to gain his army he takes her and locks her up inside the Mikaelson Mansion.
What the towns people fail to realize is that while they believe Klaus to be the villain in their lives his quest to build a hybrid army stems from the rising factions building their forces to put an end to him. New enemies are converging upon Mystic Falls with ill intentions. They care little for the innocent bystanders that could potentially become victim of the crossfire. The war is brewing but will the towns people side with Klaus and his family or with those wishing to put an end to him?
