━ What doesn’t kill me better run ━ Kazimir wondered what it was about the siren that brought him to her. It wasn't fate, it wasn't destiny. Perhaps it was simply poor luck. He'd torn the apartment upside down, but there was no trace of the picture and he had felt its presence in his pocket before going into Fedya's apartment, so it was not lost before then. He had searched Fedya's corpse, just in case it had gotten hooked on his clothes or something, but it was nowhere to be found.
And Kazimir was growing restless.
The only person he hadn't checked was the siren because she was nowhere to be found. He had half-expected her to pop back in like she always does at the wrong time, but she was nowhere to be found and his days turned stale from there. A routine that he'd gotten accustomed to because revenge was a long and dull path, full of repetitive days until the day that you get your hands on the people that you want to take down.
Though the only thing that broke his routine was searching for the blonde. Finding her was easy. Or, at least, it was easy to him because he had spent nearly most of his life tracking down people. She was no different, but the only exception was that he wasn't looking for her to hurt her. But it was actually because he wanted what once belonged to him.
Truth be told, he'd never really liked his mother — but her picture was the only reminder that he had left of home.
Kazimir glanced down at the house from the outside, a look of disgust forming across his features for a moment. It looked... awful. Kazimir glanced back at the door before he approached. Night had fallen and in his all black attire, he almost blended into the night, if it weren't for his pale complexion.
Kazimir stood in front of the door, almost debating whether it was worth his time to do something like this — but he came here for a reason and he wasn't going to leave until he had his answer, or his picture back.
Kazimir lifted his gloved hand and knocked on the door once then paused before he knocked again, lowering his hand not long after. He stepped back and looked around him to check his surroundings before his attention remained on the door to see if anyone was home — he knew she was home, he'd been keeping an eye on her — but hey, he can pretend to be surprised that she was home. Now, it was just a matter of waiting.

━ watch me make them bow ━ HARMONY HAD WORKED HARD TRYING TO make this place into a home for them. Well, everyone else was doing the manual labour, but trying to match every piece of linen and furniture in a house full of animals wasn’t easy work, either. None of them could fathom the idea that the curtains should tie in with the couch in the living room, and that they should both make sense with the carpet (if she put one in) and the coffee table, and that all of these things depended on the paint colour used for the room. She had a plan for each of the bedrooms, too, but it was difficult for Harmony to design any of those for the same reason━nobody had much of an opinion.
Maybe Aliz would say something like “nothing pink” and think that was helpful, but it wasn’t. Alex probably thought he was sweet by telling Harmony he “didn’t mind” and that she “could do what she wanted,” but that was even worse! What did any of them like? What would be useful for them? What would make it so they didn’t hate going to their rooms every night?
(The answer, she thought to herself, was probably ‘sound-proofing.’)
Whatever. If they really didn’t want to help, then she’d figure it out, and they couldn’t get upset about it (Harmony knew that wouldn’t work).
It wasn’t often that the house was empty nowadays, and while she’d complained endlessly about how loud and irritating everyone was, Harmony found that she’d gotten used to it. She didn’t like being alone anymore, but they’d gone somewhere to pick up some stupid special wood or some building supply Viktor wanted, and Harmony was left here by herself.
At first, she thought it might be fun to run around, blast music through a little speaker and sing to her heart’s content, but she quickly realized how fast that got old. Harmony resigned herself to tidying up and sweeping the dust from the kitchen (that barely resembled such) even though it would be dusty again in the morning from all the work they were doing. Someone had to do it, though, ‘cause if she knew Viktor at all, he’d be like, ‘No need to clean! It just get dirty again!’ and she’d probably kill him.
She hadn’t told him about the nameless dude who had a picture of her mom yet, and she wasn’t sure why. Maybe because it would require too much of an explanation, or because she’d roped Alex into it and it’d get him in shit, too. Or ‘cause she just couldn’t understand why this Russian dude had that picture or where the fuck he came from. If he was here for Harmony, wouldn’t he make more of an effort to get close to her? Most of the time, he seemed like he wished she was never born. Oh, maybe he did━was he her uncle or something? Like a really young uncle? Did her mom even have family like that?
Harmony paused when she heard a knock on the door. That was weird. And it was late, too, so even if someone did venture down the wooded trail that led to the house, they would’ve had to do it in pitch black.
She went to the door anyway, gearing herself up for what might not be a friendly interaction, then pulled the door open and raised her brows at him. The dude. The nameless, emo one with the picture of her mom. She didn’t put her guard down yet, but she knew he had to be here for it.
“Well, well, well.” Harmony crossed her arms over her chest and leaned into the doorframe, narrowing her ice-blue eyes at his matching ones. Huh. “Look who showed up, probably to beg for my help again.” She taunted, “How’d you know where I live, huh? You stalkin’ me? Kinda creepy.” Despite her words (and better judgment), she stepped back to allow him in. She could cripple his resolve outside or inside her new house; it didn’t really make a difference.

━ What doesn’t kill me better run ━ Kazimir was a man of very few regrets, but he was already starting to regret coming here as his eyes relaxed on icy blue ones that matched his own in a way that made him raise a slow brow, but he was soon distracted by her taunting comments. “Are you done?” He deadpanned before he looked behind the siren to look into her home, and then when she allowed him inside, he slipped past her, stepping slowly into the house, taking in his surroundings before his attention drifted to the siren. “I'll make it quick. I'm not here to exchange pleasantries or even ask for help.” Kazimir revealed as he took a moment to consider whether any of this was worth it or not, but that picture was the only reminder he had left, and he never thought of himself as a sentimental individual, but when things got rough — which was often — that picture was there to soothe him despite the fact that he carried no love for that woman.
So, he'd say that it was worth it.
“The night you came to “save” me,” Kazimir began, crossing his arms over his chest, but his body language wasn't hostile — perhaps a little guarded, but that was simply his own nature and not because he didn't trust her. She never gave him any reason not to trust her. If anything, she'd saved him twice already, so he'd say that she was trustworthy. “I lost something of mine. A picture of a woman. I want it back.” Kazimir wasn't the type of person to beat around the bush, and plus, he was a little mindful of the fact that he was on the siren's territory, so he didn't want to overstay his welcome. A true gentleman, huh?
“I searched the apartment, but I couldn't find it. Do you have it?” Kazimir asked, his eyes narrowing slightly as he kept his eyes trained on her face to check her reaction to the question and see if he could catch her slipping in any way that'd reveal that she had the picture.

━ watch me make them bow ━ HARMONY ROLLED HER EYES WHEN HE ASKED IF she was done rather than playing ball. Fine. If he wanted to be a sour asshole, then she was going to keep bothering him. Simple as that. “You’re in a good mood today,” She hummed, stepping away from the door as he walked in. She closed it behind him, then turned to face Emo Man, studying his face. Maybe he could be her uncle. No, no way━they didn’t look alike. Except for their eyes.
He didn’t bother to answer her question, but she kept silent about it for now, watching him as he finally turned to her. “So… you do need my help?” She asked, raising her brows. He went on.
“Oh, so you lost it, but you think I took it.” Harmony nodded slowly as if she were processing the information, and took a small step towards him, narrowing her eyes up at the man. “Vy tak i ne otvetili na moy vopros: otkuda vy znayete, gde ya zhivu?” The edge of her lips curved up in a satisfied smirk. He’d spent all that time speaking in Russian around her, and he’d had no idea that she could understand him. She’d been waiting for the best time to reveal it.
“Why is that picture so important to you?” Harmony hissed. Screw being careful. This was her house, first of all, and she could have him eating out of the palm of her hand with one little look. “Who is she to you?”

━ What doesn’t kill me better run ━ Kazimir released a small sigh at her comment, choosing not to reply back. "No. I'm only here to ask some questions." Kazimir simply did not want to owe her anything else. Who knows what she'll ask him in return for saving him. "You were the only extra person in that house. They sure as hell did not rise from their death to take the picture and die again." Kazimir commented, his words coming out harsh but his tone was cool, as always. Kazimir looked around him, taking in the house before he seemed to freeze at the Russian that slipped from the siren's lips. His eyes widened slightly before his expression morphed back into something a lot more emotionless before he looked over at her. "You could understand me this whole time." It wasn't a question, but more of a statement.
"I have someone who is good at tracking." Kazimir revealed a moment later, his eyes still on Harmony, watching her without saying much before his lips parted to let out a sigh at her next questions. "Why is that important to you, siren?" He asked in Russian this time around, blue eyes narrowing as he looked at her. The longer he looked at her, the more he recognized the resemblance between them. Ah, what was he thinking?
"Why do you want to know any of these questions? What's it to you?"

━ watch me make them bow ━ HARMONY FELT THE SHIFT BEFORE SHE SAW IT. She watched his eyes widen slightly, but in the second before, she felt the shock wafting from him. And then he looked at her, and it was gone. “Uh huh.” Harmony smirked, confirming even though he didn’t need her to. Maybe he was just rubbing it in.
Someone who’s good at tracking? Why didn’t he use them when he needed a witch to do a locator spell, then, huh?! Maybe he meant physically tracking, like, stalking, but either way, she doubted it. And either way, it was creepy as fuck. Now two people knew about this place?
“Don’t answer a question with a question.” Harmony hissed back at him in Russian, irritated that he couldn’t just be honest with her when she’d clearly caught him in a bind. He needed something, and he wasn’t gonna get it back ‘til she got some answers. Frankly, she was losing her fucking patience.
When he asked her why she cared, when he kept pressing, Harmony’s teeth clenched so hard she felt a sharp pain sing through her jaw. Did he really not know he was carrying around a picture of her mom, or was he just trying to goad it out of her?
Harmony stepped closer, glaring up at the man as she snapped, “Because I want to know why you’re carrying around a picture of my mom!” In her mother’s language, her mother’s accent. She wasn’t sure if all Russians sounded like that, but he did, too. He pronounced words the same way she did, but her mom was probably somewhere pretty central, right? Actually, Harmony didn’t know. They didn’t really talk, not about stuff that mattered, and if this was her way of reaching out, then fuck her.

━ What doesn’t kill me better run ━ “Why should I be honest with you when you’ve been anything but?” Kazimir offered back through gritted teeth and he got what he asked for when she revealed exactly why it was so important for her to get some answers from him as to what that woman was to him. Her answer had him reeling back as if those words had been strong enough to push him back. He took a small step back, his eyes never leaving hers. “What?” He breathed out. He never thought he had a sibling out there — those hunters made sure to kill everyone he’d ever cared about except for his cowardly mother but she wasn’t exactly someone he cared about.
Now the resemblance between them made sense and not to mention the accent she spoke in, the way it reminded him of his mother. If he asked her to speak like that again and he closed his eyes, he’d just hear her. Her nagging and overall displeasure with everything always left a bitter aura in the house, difficult to avoid or tip-toe around. Kazimir had a pretty similar accent, a reminder of the woman who was no longer in the picture. A reminder that he never quite asked for.
Kazimir looked away, the bone in his jaw working as he clenched and unclenched his jaw. He didn’t know how to overcome the revelation that the woman before him was his half sister. “If this is some kind of joke, then it is not funny.” He warned her because this wasn’t something he could afford to joke about. He hated the fact that her revelation made his world seem a lot less dark and unforgiving. “Because she’s...” Kazimir trailed off, his frown deepening. “She’s my mother, too.” What the fuck was he supposed to do after this revelation? Just open his arms and say ‘come here, sister’ and pretend as if he doesn’t know a single thing about her and vice versa? Fuck no.

━ watch me make them bow ━ AS IF SHE WAS THE ONE WHO’D BEEN KEEPING things━she didn’t even know his name! She would’ve argued it, but Harmony was at her breaking point, already shouting at him for having a photo of her mother.
She was surprised he stepped back, though. She felt shock oozing from him━more than seeing it on his face, she felt it. “You heard me.” She said, switching back to English as he did, though her words didn’t have the same bite anymore.
Harmony watched the revelation work its way through him, her brows furrowing as she wondered what the hell was going on. If he didn’t already know that was her mom, then why was he here? Why did he have a picture of her? She couldn’t come up with any reasonable explanations. “Why would it be?” She growled. Why was her mom so fucking important? And then he… he told her why.
She stumbled back a step, as if he’d landed a physical blow, and her stomach dropped. What the fuck? What the fuck. He seemed just as surprised as she was, and Harmony’s mind raced with questions. He was older than her, wasn’t he? He had to be. Which meant… before her mom swindled that American man into knocking her up… she’d had another life. Another child.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” She bit out, finding her eyes going fuzzy before she blinked them clear. She thought she was immune to her mom’s shit by now, that she’d been hurt enough times to know better, but, apparently, she would always harbour a bit of resentment. There would always be a piece of her that wished she’d had something better, where she’d be surprised that her mom could find new ways to wound her. And maybe it should’ve been nice to think she could bond with someone over that, but she couldn’t… she didn’t even know who he was or what this was about.
“Why are you here?” She asked, a whole new meaning to the question now. “How old are you?” The words came quickly, and somehow it was a far more important question than the first. “You’re telling me you actually didn’t know who I was?” His sister. Harmony sucked in a breath, then finally, desperately, she asked, “What’s your name?”
