— you did not mean to be cruel but that does not mean you were kind —
KOL ENTERED THROUGH THE FRONT ENTRANCE OF THE HOSPITAL, the sliding doors shutting behind him as he made his way deeper into the hospital. He approached the front desk where a woman was working, typing diligently on the keyboard as she entered numerous data into different patient profiles only for her to stop upon seeing him in front of her. Kol leaned forward on his elbows, his lips stretching into a charming smirk as he tilted his head, his eyes fixed on the woman. "Hello, darling. I'm here for Dr. Fell. Where might I find her?" Kol watched as she looked back at her computer screen, her cheeks a little flushed. "She's currently in her office. Third floor. I can flag her for you, sir. Is it urgent?" Kol merely shook his head and leaned back from the desk. "Thank you, darling. I've got it from here." He heard her call out to him, presumably to know his name but he kept walking as he instead approached the elevators. With a chime, the doors opened, revealing an empty elevator and soon enough, he was stepping inside.
He pressed number three and watched as the doors slid shut, the elevator moving up. It stopped on the second floor as a few more people entered the elevator then stopped again on the third floor and that was when he stepped outside, determined footsteps echoing as his eyes scanned each tag on the doors until he stopped in front of the doctor's office. In capital letters, the name tag on the door read DR. FELL and that was all Kol needed to know for sure that he was standing in front of the correct office. Kol wasn't seeking her out for a check-up, but because he knew of her little secret.
You see, Kol had heard of the extra help she used whenever she'd treat a patient. She wasn't using some sort of magical syrup to heal their wounds quicker, but instead she was using vampire blood. The blood would heal the patients a lot quicker and there have been many headlines in the newspapers about patients making remarkable recovery despite the severity of their injuries. Thanks to her, people were leaving the hospital feeling good as new and Kol was rather impressed because many people would have kept that blood for selfish usage, but instead, she chose to use the blood to save the lives of others like a doctor should.
Kol had lived a life filled with betrayal, anger, death, and repeat. It was only recently that he strove toward breaking that vicious cycle with the help of Evangeline. He'd managed to stop the meaningless killing and actually started working at a school for the supernatural where he taught vampirism to newly turned vampires or even just vampires who still needed help. You see, despite his change, he'd never think of himself as a good person. Teaching the students how to control their hunger and how to be better didn't make up for his past horrible actions. He'd have to make up for his actions for centuries ahead in order to feel even the slightest bit better about himself.
Kol figured that if there was something that his previous version of himself would've never agreed to do, it'd be giving up his blood for the greater good. So, here he was, standing in front of Dr. Fell's office, ready to do just that with the hope that it would make up for at least a few of his past actions. Kol snapped out of his thoughts and knocked on the door at least once before he reached for the door handle to open the door. "Dr. Fell, correct?" Kol didn't really wait for an answer as he stepped into the doctor's office and let the door close behind him, his lips stretching into a friendly smile that felt odd on his own lips. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you." Kol moved deeper into the doctor's office, taking a moment to observe his surroundings before his dark eyes moved back to the woman. "I've heard oh so much about you." Kol's words were awfully cryptic as he spoke, his smile still present on his lips.
"Imagine my surprise when I heard of a little doctor who uses vampire blood to help patients. Now, I have been around for a long time and this is the first time that I've heard of someone using vampire blood for the good of others." Kol decided to cut his cryptic sentences short and instead decided to be blunt. "You don't have to worry about me exposing your little secret. In fact, I find it rather amusing that someone with a face as pretty as yours carries such a big secret." Kol's lips spread into a grin as the words left his lips. He approached the woman's desk, his hands behind his back and his posture relaxed.
"In fact, I'm here to contribute my own blood." Kol revealed a moment later, his shoulders lifting and dropping in a quick shrug. "Ah, where are my manners? Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Kol. Kol Mikaelson. Pleased to meet you, Doctor."

MISERABLE MAN WITH KOL MIKAELSON
Blessed quiet. Meredith rarely got to truly embrace moments like this. Usually she was in the thick of it, moving from patient to patient, assessing needs and doing what she could to ensure that everyone survived. Even when the emergency department wasn't full to the brim there were still the beeps of machines, the murmuring of conversation --- but here, here it was quiet. Some might be put off by it but she was embracing it.
She didn't realize how much she needed it until she was surrounded by it.
Meredith was pouring over paperwork, playing catch up on reports and filing away summaries that probably should have been done days ago. Lucky for her those at the top were just as good at reading over files as she was putting them together. Besides, they would be happy that she was saving lives (probably too many lives not to be suspicious but she couldn't just stand back and watch people die; it wasn't in her nature).
Her precious silence was broken by the sudden arrival of a stranger. Her body jolted at the intrusion and when she looked up she was wide eyed. Before she could even find her voice, he was barging in, his presence taking up more space than he should. She immediately stood, feeling better without the idea of him towering over her. "My office hours..." She barely got the beginnings of the sentence out before it hit her.
He knew.
Meredith could feel her heart bounce against her ribcage, a wave of worry washing over her. She had worried that this might happen one day. She was discrete, she had to be --- but no one was perfect. And it made since that someone like him would catch on. After all, she hadn't missed the implication in his words (been around a long time). She did her best to keep her blind panic inwardly. In her experience, most vampires didn't like sharing. Or helping. Her current arrangement was not altruistic but it worked. She couldn't help but wonder if Hector had ratted her out.
She didn't have time to consider that. The man before her was keeping her on her toes. He had practically burst into her office, exposed her secret but then assured her that he wasn't going to tell anyone? She knew her face was one of confusion now. "Look, I don't know what you think is going on here but..." Again she couldn't quite finish her thoughts because he was barreling ahead and delivering the climax of his speech.
Mikaelson.
Meredith took an unconscious step backwards, bouncing into the filing cabinet and wincing a little. She then did her best to recover, swallowing back the lump in her throat. "Mr. Mikaelson," she began. "I am not sure what you think you know or how you came to find out but let me assure you, what I do doesn't interfere with whatever it is your family does." She knew. Of course she knew. She made it her business to know and the name Mikaelson held a hell of a lot of weight. "So while I appreciate the offer, it isn't necessary. I wouldn't...want to..." She was searching for the proper way to turn down a ruthless killer. "...put you out or anything like that. Thank you."

— you did not mean to be cruel but that does not mean you were kind —
KOL COULD HEAR THE SOUND OF HER HEARTBEAT STUTTERING upon revealing that he knew of her little extra help and it made his lips stretch into a small smirk, at least now he had all the confirmation that he needed to know for sure that he was talking to the correct person. Despite her feeble attempts at pretending not to know what he was talking about, he didn't back down and instead quirked an eyebrow at her attempt to lie to him. "But...? That's not true?" He finished for her, his tone dripping with amusement. "I'm quite certain you can come up with a better lie than that, doctor." Kol added with a grin reaching his lips as he remained where he was, his hands still behind his back. Despite his relaxed posture, the height difference between them remained the same, making him look even more intimidating.
Kol noticed the way she took an unconscious step forward at the mention of his family name. It was a typical reaction, one that he was quite used to, especially since his family never once attempted to leave behind good things for people to remember them by, only leaving behind death and destruction until their family name was linked with everything bad that has happened in history. Kol didn't blame her for reacting that way, especially since he would have reacted the same way had he been in her shoes.
Mr. Mikaelson. Now that was a title he was rather accustomed to, especially at school where they either refer to him as that, or just professor. Either way, it was entirely too formal for an exchange that should have been swift. But then again, he found it entirely understandable that she was scared of him — scared of the pure power behind his surname. His lips stretched into a smile regardless as he continued listening to her as she spoke, she sounded like she was trying everything in her might not to offend him and he found her attempts to be rather amusing, if not a tiny bit endearing. Kol was an arrogant bastard, so of course he was enjoying the exchange a little too much. Some things just never change, despite his attempts at becoming a somewhat better version of himself.
"At ease, doctor." His amusement was still visible in his tone as he took a small step forward, bringing him closer to her desk, making up for the added distance. "Clearly you've heard of my family and I. Unlike your reputation, ours isn't so—" Kol trailed off, offering a vague gesture with his hand upon moving it from behind his back. "Noble." He concluded, his amusement visible in his eyes.
"So, I find your apprehension completely understandable." Kol took another step forward but rather than getting closer to Meredith or attempting to corner her with his taller build, he took a step instead, letting her have the advantage of towering over him, no matter how small the difference actually was. "But rest assured that you won't be interfering with whatever it is my family does, because I have not told them of your little secret and they will never know because I'd much rather that they do not know of my trip here. They'll never let me hear the end of it, you know how it is with siblings." Kol repeated Meredith's words from earlier with the same amused lilt to his tone. Despite her rejection, Kol made no move to get out of her office and instead, remained seated, his body turned slightly so that he could look at her.
"If reassurance is what you need, then rest assured that you aren't putting me out or anything. I offered and I stand by my offer. Not to mention that if it was truly my intention to cause you any harm, I wouldn't be talking to you still." Kol shrugged off his jacket and let it hang on the back of the chair before he started rolling up the sleeve of the shirt underneath, revealing his arm as he made a gesture toward his arm with his head, his eyes prodding Meredith to do it. "Come on, doctor, think of all the lives you could potentially save with my blood."

MISERABLE MAN WITH KOL MIKAELSON
"I could. I usually do but you caught me off guard," she told him firmly, trying to take back a little bit of the ground that she had so easily given up at the sight of him. It was not every day an ancient vampire just strolled through her door. She had no play for a moment like that and therefore she had practically given everything away without saying anything at all. "I would ask to start again but I feel like it is too late for that." She couldn't help but sigh now. She waited a beat or two before looking at him, a bit curious despite the consistent measure of fear still coursing through her. "How? How did you find this out? I am good at keeping secrets." Or so she thought. She paid her current source handsomely and if he had sold her out she was going to be so damn pissed (and powerless, she knew that; she could only sit and stew in her anger).
He might tell her to stay at ease but there was no way in hell she could make her muscle relax. She knew it was no real comfort because he could move in a blink of an eye but currently she was glad there was a desk between them. She eyed him with a measure of suspicion. "I wouldn't be very good at this whole founding family thing if I hadn't heard of the Mikaelsons." There was a Fell journal or two, one that outlined a few of the more well known vampires and of course the Mikaelson name appeared. How could it not? That was where it all started --- add to that, Kol's older brother Klaus certainly had left his mark on the world. She told herself that she was not enough of a threat either way to show up on that man's radar and that was how she coped with living in the same town as infamous as Klaus.
Apparently, she was playing six degrees of separation now given who was standing in her office (and he was putting her score as one degree from Klaus; far from comforting).
He seemed insistent that she take his blood. She furrowed her brows as he readied himself for the task but she was not convinced. Not at all. She had not gotten this far by simply giving in. She always looked a gift horse in the mouth --- especially when they could bite. So for now, she stayed where she was.
"I hope you don't take offense to this but how do I know that you aren't just saying the right things? You catch more flies with honey and all that. You might like to play games --- vampires often do." She usually got to see the aftermath of those games and tried her best to mitigate the damage. Easier done than said when she had vampire blood. And honestly, she had to wonder if the blood of someone his age would go that much further. It was a theory she would like to test. "What do you want? What are you getting out of this? Because I am going to be upfront with you, I drink enough vervain tea that I practically sweat the stuff. So I am not going to taste good and you can't mess with my mind. Just putting that out there." Of course he could simply snap her neck or rip her heart out but she wasn't going to speak those into existence.

KOL FELT A SMALL SMIRK TUG AT THE CORNER OF HIS LIPS AT MEREDITH'S WORDS before he released a small hum. "I most certainly did. My apologies." Kol held up his hands in mock surrender. He'd made quite the entrance, that much he was aware of. You could just say that his family was rather big on dramatic entrances. "Just a bit late." Kol made a gesture between his index and thumb to showcase that she was just a tiny bit late to trying again. "Plus, I'm not fond of others lying straight to my face. You wouldn't want to hurt my feelings, would you, doctor?" Kol added a moment later, his smirk still visible on his lips. "When you have been around for as long as I have, you start to build connections. Nothing's impossible if you're powerful enough." Kol answered rather truthfully, his eyes still fixed on Meredith, watching her curiously.
"Ah, that's right. Fell." Kol was rather impressed that she was a member of the founding family. "I wasn't aware that the Fell family had such pretty and smart daughters." Kol's lips stretched into a grin as the words escaped his lips playfully. It seems like she had done her research on the Mikaelson family and to be fair, Kol didn't blame her for reacting that way but from what he could see, she was trying to take back the grounds she had given up upon seeing him and he found her attempts to be rather amusing. He figured if he stopped towering over her, his threatening aura would lessen but then again, he was pretty sure the word 'MURDERER' was written in bold and red letters above his head so he couldn't quite blame her for choosing to keep her distance from him.
Kol released a small hum at her question, his hand coming to a halt as he rolled up his sleeve. He let her keep talking before he let out a soft chuckle. "I'm quite aware, doctor. I've smelled it on you the second I entered your office." The smell of vervain was emitting from her in waves and it nearly made him wrinkle his nose in distaste, but if the vervain offered her the security she needed in order to deal with vampires, then so be it.
"Very well, then. I suppose saying that I'm doing out of boredom isn't the answer you're looking for, so, let's make this strictly beneficial for the both of us." Kol won't say that he was doing this to make up for his past horrible actions because being honest wasn't on his agenda today. He'd much rather keep the truth masked away. "In exchange for my blood, I wish to receive human blood bags. I'm sure you're aware that my family is rich enough to buy this whole town if we truly wish to, so money isn't what's driving me to do this. I'm attempting a —" Kol offered a vague gesture of his hand. "New diet, if you will. So, I'm staying off the fresh source for a while. So, what do you say, doctor? It's a win-win situation, is it not? You get something you need and so do I. Then we go our separate ways until we need more. I promise complete secrecy if you promise the same thing."

MISERABLE MAN WITH KOL MIKAELSON
"I would rather avoid hurting the feeling of someone who lived through the middle ages, yes," she told him with a nod of her head. He had seen things, done things and she was just a speck of a human in comparison. Currently a speck of a human playing a very dangerous game and determined to keep her head. So far so good, although she had a feeling if Kol Mikaelson wanted to change up the playing field he would do so quickly and without mercy. "I don't suppose you'll tell me which connection you relied on to find out. I am a bit of hypocrite I am afraid. I like town gossip..." Mostly because she knew there was a hell of a lot of truth to those strange whisperings and it helped her immensely to keep track of things that went bump in the night. "...but I don't like being the subject of it." If what she did got out she would lose a hell of a lot more than she was willing to consider at the moment. She doubted the board would understand and after she lost her license the town council would be next.
He was laying it on thick wasn't he? Or maybe this was just his speed. She really didn't have much to go on. Any information she had gathered on the Mikaelson family was related to their long (long) list of crimes. They had murdered and maimed their way through history and across the entire world. She had been close to murderers before but not one this prolific. She didn't like how flippant he was.
"The Fell family has all kinds," she pointed out, trying to keep the tone light. She could play along with whatever mood he was setting. She just hoped that whatever the point he was leading to didn't end with her dead on the floor. One less pretty Fell daughter (given that their family had taken more than their fair share of hits over the past few years she imagined that they might actually mourn her).
For now, he seemed insistent in his desire to donate blood. She was still skeptical. Therefore they were at a weird standstill. At least he recognized that she wasn't going to be worth tapping a vein sort to speak --- and she was no puppet either. Instead she was a confused as hell woman wondering why an original vampire was trying to talk her into taking his blood. If she had endless predictions of what her day would turn out to be, this would have never crossed her mind.
"When you put it that way, it seems like I would be completely foolish not to do it, huh? I get vampire blood. One with one hell of a lineage mind you." It was the first time she had hinted aloud at the idea that his blood could be different from the other vampires she had used. Maybe it would take less or heal faster. Her scientific mind couldn't resist finding out. "And I keep you from sinking your fangs into some poor unsuspecting soul? Feels too good to be true but..." She was wavering now. She figured that if he wanted to kill her, he would do it no matter what she did next so she decided that she should take the chance. "You'll need to roll it up a bit higher." She was already turning her back on him, her heartrate spiking again at the thought of letting her defenses down. From her cabinet she gathered the necessary supplies. "I swear to God if you kill me, I will haunt you." It was an expression of her fear and something she regretted saying even before she had finished the sentence. She closed her mouth tightly and moved forward.

— you did not mean to be cruel but that does not mean you were kind —
KOL CHUCKLED A LITTLE, UNABLE TO DENY THAT IT WAS RATHER FUN TEASING MEREDITH, even though a quick look at her was more than enough of an indicator that she wasn't having a good time, not like he was, at least. "Wise choice, doctor." Kol offered back with a grin resting on his lips after his laughter had died down. "Ah, I'm afraid I can't tell you. You know how it is with confidentiality, don't you?" Kol offered back, his tone was carefree, his posture even more so. "As someone who has been the subject of gossip for centuries, my only advise to you is to enjoy it. After all, they wouldn't talk about you if they didn't find you interesting." Had Kol been a little less 'good', he would have easily given Meredith the guy's name because it'd just be too fun to see what would happen after, but Kol was trying not to gamble with the lives of others for the sake of his own entertainment anymore. Emphasis on trying.
Kol released a small hum at Meredith's words when she told him that the Fell family has all kinds, it was enough to intrigue him, at least. He was going to have to look more into the Fell family later on. But for now, he'd rather finish what he came here for.
Speaking of which, his words had seemingly managed to convince Meredith to withdraw his blood and of course her words managed to inflate his ego quite a bit as a small smirk formed on his lips. "Easily better than any vampire blood you're currently in possession of." Kol easily took the chance to inflate his ego some more, his smirk still visible on his lips. "See? A win-win situation for the both of us. You've got absolutely nothing to worry about." Kol offered with the same smirk still persistent on his lips. He was aware he didn't sound like someone trustworthy but he was speaking the truth. If he came here with the intention of hurting Meredith, he'd have done so already and if exposing her was his goal all along, he would have done it without coming here. But then again, he understood where her skepticism was coming from. After all, his reputation precedes him. A reputation filled with soulless killing and slaughter. So, even if he swore to the ends of the world that he was different now, it wouldn't mean anything.
"Higher than this?" Kol looked down at his sleeve, his hand already working on rolling it up some more. "Is this simply an excuse to admire me, doctor? How unprofessional." He teased with the same arrogant smirk still locked on his lips. He watched as she turned her back to him. Oh, how easy it would be for him to sneak up behind her and kill her. The smell of her blood would instantly fill the room, he'd feel her blood on his hand if he were to shove his hand through her back to retract her heart from behind... Kol snapped out of his thoughts, his gums aching slightly but he forced himself to focus on the task of rolling up his sleeve some more while drawing in deep breaths and releasing them slowly. Her words brought him out of his thoughts and his attention drifted back to her, his lips stretching into a grin. "You know, I wouldn't mind someone as pretty as you haunting me, doctor. So, please, don't threaten me with a good time." Kol teased before he held up his hands slightly in mock defeat. "It was a joke." He clarified with a small smirk on his lips. He finally stopped rolling up his sleeve and watched Meredith curiously.

MISERABLE MAN WITH KOL MIKAELSON
"I doubted you were going to say anyway. Fine, I will figure it out on my own." And she would damn well try because the last thing she needed were other vampires of his caliber figuring out what she was doing. She had come this far without it spreading to someone who could easily wipe out her existence in a blink --- she wasn't about to let it all slip through her fingers. She was doing amazing things. She was helping people, some of whom had nearly been destroyed by the same thing that would save them. She was ensuring they came full circle. It was only pure luck that Kol seemed interested in clearing some of the black out of his heart instead of adding to it.
She had a feeling otherwise she would have at least made a decent looking corpse.
She decided that after this interaction she was calling it a day. She was leaving the hospital behind and sitting herself down at the Grill for a drink to soothe her nerves. She deserved it. She was just about to earn it after all. She couldn't contain a nervous laugh at his declaration. Nothing to worry about? "Forgive me if I don't believe you," she told him simply. There was enough sarcasm in her voice to indicate that she didn't care about his forgiveness. She simply wanted this moment over with so that she could drunkenly reevaluate her life choices.
Everything she needed was placed on a rolling try so she turned back, her eyes narrowing a little at his unprofessional comment. "You're not my type," she told him simply. "Too old." A simple shrug of her shoulders and then she was stepping into his space. She recognized that any moment he have quickly invaded hers but there was something intimidating about this. She stopped short, pressing her lips together at his response to her threat to haunt him. "You're not as funny as you think you are," she declared and then felt the need to return just a hint of the discomfort he had put her in. She tied a plastic wrap around his arm, tightening it until the vein popped. It was swiped with a bit of alcohol before she unceremoniously jammed the needle in. She did her best to look innocent. "It will just take a moment and then you can be on your way and I can forget you ever learned my name."

— you did not mean to be cruel but that does not mean you were kind —
KOL QUIRKED AN EYEBROW, his expression taking a turn into something a little more intrigued now as he tilted his head slightly to the side. He didn't say anything, but his expression spoke for him with how amused he looked. He merely shrugged his shoulders, a clear invitation for Meredith to do as she pleased with her little quest to find out who Kol's informant was. Kol's eyes remained fixed on Meredith, watching her, but not out of suspicion or paranoia. Paranoia was more of his brother's thing, was it not? After all, just what could one small — albeit feisty — human do to him?
"Oh, you're forgiven." Kol waved his hand off, a hint of sarcasm clear in his words as he spoke. "I don't particularly have a noble reputation. Unlike my brother, Elijah." Kol added with a small smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. He allowed himself a moment where he looked away from Meredith, but that was only so he could take in his surroundings, checking the inside of her office with a hint of curiosity in his eyes before his attention drifted back to the doctor, watching her with the same curiosity in his eyes. "But, if I truly wanted to hurt you or anyone in this hospital, wouldn't have I done so already? I may like games, but even this is a bit far, isn't it?" Kol gestured to his now exposed arm to prove a point. After all, if he truly wanted to mess with Meredith or kill her for that matter, he wouldn't volunteer to give out his blood first. It would be utterly pointless for him to do so.
"If my words do not bring you any sense of comfort, then perhaps my actions will." He would just have to prove that he wasn't here for any malicious business but as a way to clear out just a little bit of his previous bad deeds by doing one good thing. Well, two if you count the fact that he will be letting Meredith walk out of here alive when he had made it perfectly clear in the past that no one survives any sort of encounters with him.
Kol let out a gasp, pretending as though he was deeply hurt by her words and his act extended so far that he even placed a hand on his heart, his eyes fixed on the other. "Ouch." Kol shook his head as though he was disappointed by such words. Her next words only made him continue his act further. "Cruel. I quite like that in a woman. Please, do continue." And just like that, his act was dropped and the teasing smile was back on his lips.
Had it been anyone else, or had he been his old self, he would have made sure that Meredith choked on her own blood as payback for speaking to him in such a way, but he was different now and while it would've pissed him off in the past, it only made him feel more engaged in the conversation, his interest piqued by the other who seemed to have a sharp tongue. Sharp enough that she didn't seem to mind if it pierced the Original Vampire sitting before here.
Kol watched her as she tied the plastic wrap around his arm just tight enough that he saw a vein slowly but surely become more and more prominent. He jerked in his seat when she unceremoniously jammed the needle into his skin. "Ow." Did it actually hurt? Not really, but it was fun to pretend that it had actually hurt him. "Oh, but I will not forgot. It won't be that easy to shake me off. I have a feeling that you and I will be seeing each other a lot more often." Kol said as he looked at Meredith. "I might even lend you my number and you can contact me once you run out of my blood."
"And you can also tell me if any of the patients die with my blood in their system. It would be — messy — to have them run amok, wouldn't it?"

MISERABLE MAN WITH KOL MIKAELSON
Meredith raised both her brows at the mention of his brother being the noble one. It was quite clear from the look on her face that she didn't buy into that line of thinking either. She had come to her own conclusions about anyone bearing the last name Mikaelson and they hadn't come out looking all that well. "I am beginning to think we have very different definitions of some key words in the English language," she pointed out. Yes, her snark was coming out more. She knew that was a fine line but she had gotten this far and he still probably saw her as nothing more than a mild deterrent whatever he did in the run of a day. If he hadn't killed her yet, she was banking on him leaving here with her neck intact.
Besides, sassing him seemed to amuse him more than anger him.
She was taking mental notes. Just in case she had to repeat this conversation in the near future.
"I concede that if you wanted me dead, I'd be on the floor already. But I'm not just going to trust you. I didn't get this far in life that way." In fact, her first path crossed with a vampire set the tone. She might be open minded when it came to some but overall, she knew damn well she had to be careful. Only one of them in the room was breakable and she wasn't looking at him.
Still, she had to wonder why he was doing this. He might claim to want to even out his scorecard but it was such a foreign concept to her. Maybe she was used to paying. Maybe she was used to being underhanded. The idea that someone like him would just offer her his blood was so foreign that she was having a hard time wrapping her head around it. There was no use in psychoanalyzing it though. She shouldn't be looking a gift horse in the mouth. She should just be taking the money (or in this case, blood) and running.
She wrinkled her nose at his comeback, but she should have been expecting it. She might lob a verbal grenade in his direction but he was quite capable of catching it and launching it back at her. "Ah, so you're a masochist. I don't kink shame so no judgment here. Whatever floats your boat and all that." She shrugged her shoulders.
She had did it too. Stabbed a powerful vampire with a needle and still had her head on her shoulders. She let out a deep breath, almost a sigh of relief, her shoulders falling as she did so. As the blood filled the bag, an rich red color that was almost mesmerizing, she furrowed her bows. "I don't do late night texts so don't ask." There was a measure of discomfort in the idea that he might not go back where he came from. But she sobered up enough to address one thing with certainty. "I don't let people leave this hospital until the blood is passed from their system. I am in the business of healing people --- not creating vampires. So you don't have to worry about any errant...children of yours running around. Is that how it works? You become their...vampire daddy or whatever." She knew the mechanics of it. Just not the terminology.
