━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ Castiel couldn’t help but wonder f he had made the wrong decision, denying those kids the help they needed the most. He could still vividly remember the desperation on their faces, the anger and hatred that they carried for Ben’s father. Castiel wondered just what could have happened if he hadn’t shown up. Would his brother’s vengeance continue wiith no limits? Would he stop only after killing all of them? It was something that weighed his shoulders down as he leaned back on his seat with a small sigh from his lips. Castiel knew that he needed to speak to Hannah about what could be done to their brother without the risk of spilling more blood. They were already facing the threat of near extinction especially after the fall, so he didn’t want to take one more life, not when Heaven depended on every angel.
Castiel decided to wait until Hannah’s shift was over, though. It was better than bothering her during her shift or pulling her away which could spark some suspicions. He would much rather that Hannah kept her identity as a secret, especially from humans. So, he stayed in the company of a glass of alcohol, but it was barely touched as he instead found himself continuously consumed by his own thoughts. He eventually pushed himself up from his seat to excuse himself out of the Grill momentarily. He chose to stand outside so that the nighttime air could help him clear his head. He waited for Hannah to finish so that they could speak to each other with no interruptions. In the meantime, he watched as people passed by him, going in different directions. It kept his mind preoccupied for the time being.

Something had sjifted in Mystic Falls lately, Hannah wasn't sure exactly what it was but something felt different and the truth was that she didn't like it. Hannah hadn't confided in many of her brothers and sisters about the kids she looked after but a select few knew and even though she knew that she had done the right thing by bringing them to Mystic Falls so they could start over surrounded by others like them, there were still times when she found herself wondering if they should have moved on by now. The kids seemed to be doing well, though, and Olly at least seemed to be really thriving so she knew they were all where they needed to be for the time being. From Hannah's point of view it helped having some angels she trusted in town, she had put her faith in the wrong people before but she had learned from her mistakes and now her inner circle was small but she would trust each and every one of them with not just her life but that of her kids as well. Hannah had never thought that she would end up being the one who would run Heaven but she was doing her best to do that and keep her promise to Zoe and the kids at the samemtime. Unfortunately their numbers had been dwindling evernsinve the fall and it was becoming harder and harder to keep the lights on in Heaven. Hannah knew that it was a risk to have so many angels tasked with protecting the citizens of Mystic Falls but she knew that she could count on them all to return to Heaven when she needed them to and that really did mean the world to her. There were times when Hannah found herself second guessing her decisions but she was doing her best even if not all of her brothers and sisters agreed with her decisions. She knew that there were those who hadn't agreed with letting Henrik return to Earth and she wouldn't be surprised if even less agreed with the decision that Nephilims were no longer to be seen as abominations. She wasn't sure where the rumour that they could destroy whole worlds had come from since she had never seen any proof of it herself but lately they seemed like the best way of ensuring the survival of angels so she knew yhat it was time they all started seeing the bigger picture. Jack wasn't a threat and he was Lucifer's son so if he could turn out to be such a sweet kid then she knew there was hope for any of his kind. That day Hannah had had a shift at the Grill and it had been a particularly busy one behind the bar. She had thought that she had seen Castiel among the crowd but she hadn't had the chance to check in with him although as she emerged from the Grill at the end of her shift her gaze came to rest on a familiar figure. "Castiel? Are you waiting for me?" she asked as she approached. "Is everything okay?" she asked, knowing him well enough by now to be able to tell that he seemed to have something on his mind. ━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ Castiel seemed to finally come out of his own thoughts when he heard a familiar voice call out his name. He blinked a few times and soon, his eyes were relaxing on none other than Hannah, his lips stretching to form a fleeting but genuine smile. "Hello, Hannah." He greeted at first before nodding his head once to confirm that he had been waiting for her. "Yes. It seemed like you were busy and I didn't want to interrupt you while you were working, so I thought it would be best for me to wait here until you are done." Castiel revealed with a quick nod of his head following, his eyes moving away from Hannah for a moment to take in their surroundings. "I'm afraid it's not." Castiel saw no use in sugarcoating or lying. Hannah had given him her trust and he was going to cherish it. He wasn't going to break her trust, he had done that enough times in the past with the Winchesters and his own siblings in Heaven. He wanted to do better. He wanted to be better.
"Let me walk you home while we talk. I don't wish to keep you from your family for long." Castiel said with a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips as he started walking, his steps were rather slow, mindful to keep it in sync with Hannah's own steps. He was aware that the family she was looking after wasn't her only family and he cared no bitter feelings whatsoever that she had found her own family here on Earth, too. If anything, he was really happy for her. Finding the Winchesters helped him figure out so many things about himself and he wanted the exact same for Hannah, too.
"I'm afraid we may be facing the extinction of the supernatural world as we know it if our brother does go through with his... vengeful plan." Castiel's frown began to set on his features as he spoke. "Our brother, Raziel. He's walking down a very dark and vengeful road." Castiel was starting to wonder if all the signs had been there and he was just refusing to see it because he didn't want to take the life of yet another angel when they were coming so close to extinction. Castiel soon caught Hannah up on everything he had witnessed when he answered Ben's prayer, letting her know every detail. "Ben and Jedidiah, they want to kill him. They wanted my help on the matter, actually, but I... refused to help them. You and I both know the situation in Heaven all too well, we can't risk losing another angel, but I━" Castiel trailed off with a soft sigh falling from his lips. "I'm worried, Hannah."

There were only a few people who knew the truth about Hannah’s role when she wasn’t working at the Mystic Grill, most of them were her brothers and sisters but there were a few outside of that group who knew. Hannah didn’t like to tell too many people about her personal life, after all she tried to keep her life with the kids as separate from her life running Heaven as she could and so far she had been doing a pretty good job of it but there was always going to be a bit of an overlap. That day she had seen Castiel while she was working but she hadn’t had the chance to talk to him but seeing him again now was enough to make her realise that he had probably been waiting to speak to her. “You know I’m never too busy for you, Castiel,” she said, offering him a smile as she reached him. He was one of the few people, angel or not, that she trusted completely and she always tried to make sure he knew that he could come to her when he needed to. As he spoke again, Hannah’s face fell. “What’s going on?” she asked, unable to deny that she was worried. She knew that Castiel wasn’t the type to overreact so if something was bothering him as much as this seemed to be then she knew that it had to be something serious. “You are my family too but okay,” she nodded, knowing that she wasn’t going to argue with having some company on the walk home. Hannah had never thought that she would end up having the kind of life that she had built for herself during her time in Mystic Falls and she knew that it might be selfish to want to have the best of both worlds but she was doing her best to make it work. Hannah couldn’t deny that she was worried as Castiel explained what was on his mind. All of the children she looked after were supernatural and she knew that Castiel had plenty of people in his life who were supernatural as well. She didn’t know the full story yet but she already knew that they couldn’t let it come to pass. “I think you’d better start at the beginning,” Hannah said, knowing that she needed to hear Castiel out and make sure that she had all the facts before deciding anything. As he filled her in on everything that he had seen, her heart sank. “He killed two innocent people just because they’re supernatural, I can’t really say I blame them,” Hannah admitted as she let out the breath she hadn’t realised she was holding. “I don’t really know Raziel that well personally but I do remember he was involved with banning the creation of nephilims in the first place. I wonder if he made the story up about how powerful they can be to cover his tracks,” she continued. Something definitely didn’t add up considering how long Ben had been alive and how long he had managed to fly under their radar along with what they knew about Jack. “I’m worried too,” she admitted. “You did the right thing not telling them how to kill our brother, he has to be stopped but I don’t believe that shedding anymore blood is the way to go,” she sighed. “Like you said we can’t risk losing another angel and we can’t risk him spreading his poison anymore than he already has. We need to find a way to stop him without killing him. Do you have any ideas?” she asked, a couple already forming in her mind although she was curious to know whether Castiel had thought about any on his way over as well. CASTIEL

━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ Castiel’s lips stretched to form a small smile when Hannah told him that she was never too busy for him. “I appreciate that.” He added a moment later. He didn’t want to dance around the topic. He knew it would be better to talk about it right away before Raziel could do something reckless — they were in a race against time and the finish line was a lot closer than expected. Blue eyes drifted to settle on Hannah when she mentioned that he was her family, too. “I know. You are my family too.” Castiel assured her a moment later. Not long after saying that, he began filling Hannah in on everything that had taken place. “I don’t blame them, either. But revenge is a very consuming emotion. I know that all too well. I don’t wish for them to go down that path.” Castiel had witnessed it many times, he had seen what it was capable of doing to sane people. He knew they weren’t going to stop until they have avenged their fallen friends. According to Jack, their fall had been momentary, but it was haunting nonetheless, especially for close friends and family.
“It seems very likely.” Castiel nodded his head once, his lips parting to breathe out a sigh. “It felt like the right thing to do, but the way they reacted — They were so disappointed. So filled with anger. I don’t think my choice mattered, Hannah. I believe they are going to continue finding a way to make Raziel pay for his wrongdoings. It’s only just a matter of time which is why I believe it’s better for us to act faster.” Castiel had seen the looks on their faces and had sensed their anger. He had also sensed the sadness that seemed to come off in waves from Jack. “Imprisonment is the idea that comes to mind,” Castiel revealed with a nod of his head following. “We could lure him out, trap him, and then imprison him.” It wasn’t a foul-free plan and it could go south quickly if their brother caught onto what they were trying to do. “Do you have any ideas?”

Hannah knew that there were angels who didn't agree with the way she was running things but she had stepped up when her brothers and sisters had been too busy fighting amongst themselves to do what needed to be done and she didn't regret that. It wasn't a role that she had ever thought that she would end up taking but she was trying to make the best of it and she knew how important it was to keep those she trusted most close to her. Castiel had made mistakes in the past but Hannah knew that she wasn't perfect either and if she was honest he was one of the people she trusted most so she knew that she would always make time for him. "I know. Things have changed so much over the last few years but we still look out for each other," she nodded. They both had families in Mystic Falls now, Hannah had the kids she looked after and Castiel had Henrik and the Winchesters, but they had their other family as well and that was never going to change. "It wouldn't be a good idea if they did, they're good people and if they give in to their rage now then they'll only regret it later," Hannah said gently. She worked with Jed so she knew that he wasn't the kind of person who wanted to hurt anyone and while she hadn't met Ben yet she'd had a couple of angels watching over him over the last month or so anyway just to make sure that he wasn't a threat like they had been made to believe all this time. She knew now that those rumours were completely wrong and after seeing what Jack was like as well she knew that it was time they set aside those old fashioned beliefs and started welcoming Nephilims into their family the way they should have been all along. "I've been keeping an eye on Ben and Jack. Neither of them pose the kind of threat we've been led to believe so we'll send word out to the others and let them know that what we were told was wrong," Hannah nodded, knowing that the last thing she wanted was for Nephilims to continue being persecuted for crimes they hadn't committed. As Castiel explained about the boys' reaction, Hannah nodded. "They're hurting right now so they're going to want to lash out. Perhaps we should let the dust settle and then talk to them together. They're going to want to go after him alone but that will only put them all in more danger and no more innocent blood should be spilt by our brother's hand," she mused. Not only did they need to find a way to neutralise their brother, they needed to find a way to keep the kids safe too. "I never wanted it to come to this but I think it's time we start using the cells in Heaven again. If we can trap Raziel then we can keep him in there indefinitely. I imagine he probably has others who believe the same as he does so we'll need to find a way to only let angels we trust into the cells." The last thing they needed was to imprison him only to have one of his cohorts free him. There was a lot to do but she knew that they would figure it out. "Do you think Henrik would help with that?" she asked. She knew that it would be asking a lot considering that some of their brothers and sisters had treated him so badly a few years ago but his magic would definitely be something that the other angels couldn't break. ━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ "You're right." Castiel replied with a gentle smile resting on his lips. He knew he could count on Hannah to be there for him and he always made sure to be there for her, too. She meant a lot to him and he was grateful that it was her who took over Heaven. So many things have changed for the best and it was all thanks to her. "They gave me the impression that they are unwilling to listen to anything I have to say." Castiel knew that look on their faces all too much, he had been exposed to that one look one too many times and he understood that it won't end well for anyone involved. He would hate for them to get hurt. They were young and they still had so much ahead of them. He'd hate for that anger to consume them.
Castiel had spent time with Jack and the longer he spent with him, the more he realized how wrong they had been with their judgment regarding Nephilims. Jack was innocent, kind, and he was sweet. He cared so much about his family and friends. He wasn't at all what they had expected nephilims to be like. Castiel had kept an eye on Ben, too, and he was nearly the same thing, although his upbringing was a lot more tragic and difficult. "It's time for the truth about Nephilims to be known." They have viewed Nephilims as abominations for long enough. It was time for the truth to reach the other angels. It was time for things to change.
"It'll be difficult to change their minds, all things considered. But it's worth trying." Castiel said with a quick nod of his head following. He had a feeling they'd be stubborn but they'll still talk to them about Raziel and about their plan. It would be best for them to avoid getting their hands tainted with blood because it will only turn them into something they're not proud of. Castiel felt the exact same way, too. "I believe that showing them that we are on their side will help us win their trust quickly, as well."
Castiel nodded his head in agreement. "He has left us with no other choice. I doubted that talking to him would prove to be fruitful. Especially when he's known for being one of the most stubborn angels." Castiel said with a sigh falling from his lips not long after. "That's not a bad idea at all. Knowing him, he will be gathering as many followers as possible. Easier to achieve a mass genocide that way, I suppose.' Just talking about the possibility of Raziel harming other innocent supernatural beings just because they aren't human made him feel sick to his stomach. No one assigned him as the judge, jury, and executioner. Even as a higher being, he wasn't perfect, either. Castiel's eyes lifted to settle on Hannah when he processed her question, his lips pressing into a thin line momentarily before his lips parted to let out a soft sigh. "I'm not quite sure, but knowing Henrik, he's someone who doesn't hesitate to help others, even if its at the cost of his own comfort." Castiel replied a moment later, his voice was soft as he spoke of Henrik. "I'll bring the matter to him and see what he thinks." Castiel added a moment later with a quick nod of his head following. "If he doesn't wish to help, I'll figure other means to get us the help we need." Castiel didn't want to force Henrik into doing anything and so if he chose to not help, Castiel won't hold it against him.

Hannah had known that she and the kids had needed to start over when she’d moved them to Mystic Falls but the truth was that she hadn’t known exactly how things were going to go when they got there. She had known just how risky it was moving them to the town but she didn’t regret it one bit. The kids had all really come into their own during their time in the town so far and she was happy for them. They were all supernatural and they had all wanted to find others like them so it had seemed like the perfect place. One thing Hannah hadn’t expected was how many of her siblings would have decided to make the town their home but that definitely wasn’t a bad thing. She had people around that she could count on now and that was something that she knew better than to take for granted. “That doesn’t surprise me. It’s all so raw for them right now and Raziel did an awful thing to them, hopefully in time they’ll listen to reason,” Hannah said gently. She wasn’t sure whether or not it would actually happen but she knew that they could hope. They had lost so many angels along the way and even though Hannah knew that they just couldn’t trust Raziel that didn’t mean that he had to die. There were other ways of dealing with him and Hannah knew that they had to find one that wouldn’t result in him dying but would stop him from hurting anyone else ever again. He had already done so much damage by attacking the kids and Hannah knew that she didn’t want anyone else paying the price for his small mindedness. As Castiel said it was time for the truth about Nephilims to be known, Hannah found herself nodding. “I couldn’t agree more. It’s time that our brothers and sisters stop seeing Jack and Ben as abominations and start seeing them as family. That’s what they are after all.” It wasn’t going to be easy but they had to try. Ben had been on his own for thousands of years and she didn’t want him to feel like that any longer while Jack was still so young and she wanted to make sure that his life was different to the one that Ben had endured. She didn’t want Jack to end up living a life of pain and suffering like his cousin had. “What Ben did wasn’t great but I can’t say I blame him after Raziel turned his back on him and he didn’t deserve to suffer the way he has done.” Hannah would never understand why her brother had decided to abandon his own son when he had needed him and why he had decided to make him suffer for taking matters into his own hands by bringing magic to Earth. She was certain now that Raziel was trying to cover his tracks and it was time for his lies to be exposed. “We have to try, we owe Jack and Ben that much,” she nodded. It wouldn’t be easy to talk their siblings around but she and Castiel now saw Nephilims in a different way and she hoped that in time their siblings would too. “Jed, Ben and the others aren’t killers and as upset and angry as they are right now I believe they’ll regret it later if they take a life.” Once that step was taken they couldn’t take it back and Hannah knew that she didn’t want them to end up living with any regrets. “I hope so. We’re not their enemies, we all want to stop Raziel so we need to work together.”Hannah knew that Castiel was right, she didn’t know Raziel that well herself but she did know about his reputation and he was definitely one of the most stubborn members of their family. “He wouldn’t listen even if we tried, if he really did make up those lies about Nephilims to hide what he did then nothing will change his mind.” That was something that Hannah really did believe so she knew that they were just going to have to stop him before he could hurt anyone else. “You’re right about that. He’ll be gathering followers so perhaps we should try and gather as many angels together as we can to help us protect the kids as well. At least that way we’ll be ready when he does decide to make a move,” Hannah suggested. She wasn’t sure how well it was going to work out but she knew that they had to try. Raziel didn’t have the right to decide that all supernaturals deserved to die, she and Castiel had seen how incredible some of them were and Hannah knew that she would fight for them with everything that she had. “You know him best so I’ll leave that decision to you but considering his niece is one of those who was hurt by Raziel and the lengths he has gone to in order to protect those he loves, I imagine he’ll be on board.” She didn’t know Henrik as well as Castiel did but she knew him enough to know that much at least. “He’s lucky to have you so is Jack.”CASTIEL

━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ Castiel nodded his head, his lips pressed into a thin line. He understood the fact that they were in so much pain. Not just physically but mentally as well. Raziel had done a number on them. It was far too easy tog et lost in the anger and tread down a dark path, but he would much rather stop them from doing something they'd only regret later on. He knew that no matter how hard you try to scrub the regret away, it would remain behind like a stubborn stain on a piece of clothing. So, even though they were unwilling to receive his help, he was still going to help them regardless. "If I learned one thing, it's that we tend to hate what we fear. Perhaps deep down, they were unsure about the true extent of Nephilims and their powers and in that uncertainty, came fear that soon turned into hatred." Castiel said with a nod of his head following. It was about time for them to unveil the truth about Nephilims and welcome them as one of them.
"But with us revealing that Nephilims are not dangerous, then perhaps that fear will vanish and they will learn to accept them." Castiel was unsure how the angels would react but he was willing to give them time to come around to the fact that nephilims weren't dangerous nor were they abominations. They were family. "Love tends to drive people to do unspeakable acts. Whether it be love you carry for your partner or family. I have seen it enough times with the Winchesters to know that often times said unspeakable acts stem from good places."
Castiel nodded his head in agreement with Hannah. He was more than willing to try and talk some sense into their siblings. They owed Jack and Ben that much, after all. So, of course, he was going to help Hannah with this even though he knew that if their siblings were one thing, it'd be that they are stubborn. But, with time, he hoped that it'd be easier to convince them that Nephilims aren't dangerous nor abominations. Only time will be able to tell how they perceive the news, he hoped it'd be with an open heart, at least. It'd make talking to them a lot easier. "They are far too young to carry that sort of guilt. It never goes away." Castiel knew that much, at least. "I hope they'll allow us." He replied when Hannah said that they'd need to work together in order to stop Raziel. They will just have to show that they wanted to help and weren't going to hurt them. Raziel was not exactly helping in putting a good word for their kind.
Castiel pressed his lips into a thin line before he nodded his head. It would be nearly impossible to change Raziel's mind. The fact that he had no idea what Raziel was thinking only worried Castiel some more. "What I'm worried about is the fact that we do not know when he's going to make the next move. Once more, he has the element of surprise." Castiel's lips tugged down into a small frown. "But, all we can do right now is be prepared for his next attack, no matter when that'll be." Castiel didn't want them to get caught off-guard again. They need to be ready to lock Raziel up before he could go through with his plan to kill all supernatural beings. Innocent or not.
Castiel nodded his head slowly at Hannah's words. "I imagine the same thing, as well." Castiel replied a moment later. "I'll talk to him." Castiel added a moment later. "Thank you." He replied when Hannah told him that they were lucky to have him. Truth be told, he was just trying to do what was right by them. They meant a lot to him.

Hannah had heard the rumours about Nephilims, about how they could use their powers to destroy whole worlds and how they were an abomination, but now she knew different. She had seen how Ben and Jack were and the fact that Ben had been alive for such a long time without bringing the world to its knees was more than proof enough that those rumours were false. Hannah knew that there was a time when she perhaps would have blindly followed any orders that she was given but those days were long gone. Now she was the one giving the orders and even though she knew that it wasn’t going to be easy to change the minds of their brothers and sisters about angels, she knew that they had to try. Ben had been persecuted for millennia because of what he was and now Raziel wanted to eradicate all supernaturals. It was something that Hannah knew that they couldn’t let happen and she knew that they would find a way to stop him, they had to. “Perhaps. Someone started those rumours and I won’t be surprised if it was Raziel. Everyone has capacity for good and evil, even angels. From now on we need to embrace the fact that Nephilims aren’t that different to us and that they can do a lot of good if we take the time to teach them about what they are and what they can do,” Hannah nodded. She knew that they didn’t know the full extent of what Nephilims were capable and there was a chance that each one was different but if they knew how to use their powers then they could do so responsibly. “I hope so,” she agreed as Castiel said that their siblings might learn to accept Nephilims. “I never thought I would say this but perhaps they’re the answer we’ve been looking for to our dwindling angel population,” Hannah admitted. It was something that she never would have considered before meeting Jack and Ben but they were both good people and she hoped that in time their siblings would see that as well. “You’re right about that. It’s so difficult to understand why people are so driven by love if you’ve never experienced it. I didn’t completely understand until I took this body as my vessel and agreed to take care of the kids. For so long we were told to keep our distance from everyone living on Earth but I believe that was the wrong decision,” she said gently. “We’re meant to look out for humanity but I’m not so sure we can really do that now without knowing what they go through.” There were things that they were never going to experience like getting sick or growing old but love and being able to build a life on Earth were things that they could experience and Hannah was so glad that she’d had that chance. “They are. They’re angry and hurt right now but taking a life is something that you can never take back, even if that person has wronged you,” Hannah nodded. “None of them deserve that.” They had been through so much already and while it was true that she could understand why they wanted to kill Raziel she really didn’t believe that that was the right way to go about things. There was another way and they would make sure that they found it. “I hope so too. They’re good kids and they don’t deserve any of this,” she sighed. They were already going to face challenges because they were different and there were always going to be people who wouldn’t like them because of that but the last thing they needed was to have one of those people be an angel. There was a part of Hannah that would always wish that they could change Raziel’s mind but she knew that that would be impossible. Once he had made his mind up about something he wouldn’t back down even if he was proved wrong and Hannah knew that this time wouldn’t be any different. “We need to be ready for him,” she agreed. “He’s sure to be gathering followers so perhaps we should see if we can get someone on the inside. If they can get close enough to him they can let us know what he is planning,” she suggested. Hannah knew that that would be much easier said than done but she knew that they had to try at the very least. “He has been on Earth before but he either hasn’t seen that there are good people out there who are supernatural or he doesn’t want to see it.” Either way it was infuriating to say the least. As Castiel said he would talk to Henrik before thanking her, Hannah felt a smile touch her lips. “You don’t need to thank me, it’s the truth. You’ve changed a lot since meeting Henrik and the Winchesters, this version suits you.”CASTIEL
