| Robert was trapped more than he was believing he was. His whole body was aching from the effects of the full moon from the previous night. His aggression calmed down a bit as the full moon passed. He stayed lying where he was placed as the stain of blood from his chest marking the kill he did from the hunter that was found in the woods was due to him. The silver bullets were removed from his leg as in the cage he couldn't do anything or cause harm. Immediately his body started to heal the damage that was created even though silver wounds take longer for him to heal
Robert started to stir as he was coming around from the effects of whatever was in his system. Something he didn't want to happen again ever again ever. He rolled over and groaned as his legs really hurt him. He couldn't stand for now as it was way too painful. He looked around as he had no idea where he was. He rubbed his eyes and thought he was dreaming but this was no dream. Robert was trapped here. The bars were familiar.
he was nursing his head wound and saw machines. He didn't understand where he was. He got up and he heard screaming. Screams from kids as he saw horrific things happening to them. Then the dark figure came for him and darkness Robert believed he was back here again. They were going to do something else to him. Even though his legs were sore he forced himself to stand and groaned loudly as he did. He wobbled towards the door and tried to shake the bars. Unknowingly they were electrocuted and shocked him, the pain was sudden and he was forced to stop. Robert was stuck in bars again, but he got a feeling it was the creepy guys coming for him again
Hello… I know you out there show yourself now you coward!!!! Come here and let me out of this place now! he screamed and shouted out as he looked for something to use so he could get out of the bastard cage and get back home to change and shower as he hated being dirty after the full moon shift, which he completely hated so much. Also he was starving and wanted to get something to eat and then sleep to ease the aching joints, bones and muscles after the shift. But he couldn't until whatever brought him here, opened the doors and let him leave

The last thing he’d kept in the former warehouse had been released in the end. Officer Mason had been truly rabid, not the way this wolf was. Whatever had clouded the officer’s mind had cleared with time, leaving a shattered man behind. Chris raked teeth over his lower lip as he sat in what had once been the office in the building, lean hips resting on the dented metal desk, eyes on the cameras set up all around the perimeter, outside the corners of the cells that had been set up. He cut his gaze to the weapons locker in one corner of the room, concrete and steel, made to keep money in once upon a time. Like so much else here it had been repurposed. Mason’s gun was stored there, ready for the man to recover enough for him to be trusted with the weapon again. They weren’t there yet, not according to the men and women he had keeping tabs on him. There was some improvement not enough.
Chris’s arms tightened over his chest, his gaze sliding back to the cage. The wolf was coming around at last at least. All night he’d kept up the doses of wolfsbane, keeping him under until the moon and its almost emotional tidal pull had abated. Near evening he’d let the doses drift off. If there was a time Robert was going to be a little more rational, it would hopefully be now. The man he’d found out in the woods, washing blood from his hands, certainly hadn’t been. A rational man, capable of logical thought, wouldn’t have pushed an armed hunter far enough to be shot. A man who was welcoming death would though and the first time around Chris had sworn he wouldn’t be the weapon to do it.
On the feed the wolf began to stir, pushing a healing body up from the concrete ground. Bars were sunk a foot into the floor, the very metal laced with mountain ash to stop the wolf from trying to tear his way free of them. Every escape avenue thought of. Robert had no way out. He had to listen.
The sound rumbled through the cavernous space as Robert rose and tried to get free. The sparks shot up, drawing with them a hiss from the hunter. It wasn’t fun for him, not the way it had once been for Kate and Gerard, toying with those they took by playing with that current. This was just a way to keep those inside from getting out unless he wanted them to.
Chris rose slowly from where he’d been sitting. His footfalls on the way out of the office were quiet but the wolf picked them up anyway. The screams filled the place the way the groan had but there was nobody else in the area to hear him and come running. If anybody started sniffing around his people would radio in. He slipped through the doorway, eyes already cold as they fixed on the shrieking figure in the cage, still wearing the blood of the man he’d killed last night. ”Good afternoon,”/b] Chris said coolly, as though this was just a normal conversation.
Lifting his chin towards the corner of the cage, he indicated the small bundle he’d left there. Clean clothes, MREs to eat. All a captive boy needed. ”I think you’ve got a pretty skewed idea of what cowardice looks like. Lying while you’re standing there with a man’s blood all over you sounds pretty close to it to me. How’s the leg?” Stopping six feet in front of the cage, well out of arm’s reach should the wolf try and thrust an arm through the bars. He hadn’t tended to it. The bullet had eventually clinked out on its own and unlike the hunter he’d killed, the wolf would eventually heal.

| Robert was still getting used to waking up and his legs were sore as hell. He knew the wound would heal very very slowly. Robert's head was aching like he was when he had a hangover from drinking but he never got that anymore so he didn't know how he got his weird headache. He was pissed with being trapped here, he hated being locked up and he didn't trust this guy. He rarely trusts others. Madison he even hated as she left him, when he could have avoided the transition. But she promised to be here still, even though he had a bad temper which was getting made worse during the full moon
Suddenly he saw the bastard coming towards me. He growled at him as he was pissed off good afternoon, not let me out of here now or I would kill you once I get free he threatened him. He might be not under the influence of the full moon but he was still aggressive and that wouldn't change.as he can't enjoy his drink now since his healing would remove the toxins before he was able to get drunk you had your fun, so you can let me go now. I want to go back to my own bed you know he was hungry but he didn't say anything more
Seriously this again? I was eating an animal. I wouldn't be in this much blood if I was able to clean myself up. Even if I did. I was defending myself. What I am supposed to do is allow some crazy bastard to kill me for no reason of course he changed his story over and over again. Are we really done with this now? I want to go into the shower and sleep in my bed. I am very sore he looked at him with his own blue eyes, and he glared at him before he followed his notification to the bag in the cage too
He limped towards the bag and looked in there. He didn't trust the food from him as it could be laced with anything far as he was concerned. where did you get these clothes from? Did you seriously break into my motel room? he asked him as he heard the question about his leg and he wasn't very happy with it and he looked at him. My leg? The one you shot? It's bloody sore and the reason I want to go home and rest. I want to bathe in the bath to relax my muscles, joints and just get back to working the next day. I am a doctor you know I need to get to work tomorrow, so this lockup plan isn't going to work
Robert was lying about his work as he hadn't worked since was drinking all the time and was kidnapped by Marcel and turned into a wolf. I need to find my girlfriend Madison, so let me out NOW!!!! he growled as he was getting very angry and it wasn't going to stop soon

The threats came the minute the wolf saw him. Chris had been expecting them and almost laughed. They all believed they were stronger until that final blow came and in those last seconds the arrogance and insanity were stripped away to reveal the truth. All monsters fell in the end, brought down by karma, pride or righteousness.
Chris let the wolf rage, settling in close to the cage but not close enough to be reached. He crossed his arms over his chest again, cold blue eyes watching the man rage before he hitched his brows. The smile was small but there was genuine amusement around it. ”You’re threatening to kill me once you’re out … but I’ve had my fun and can you let you go now. Doesn’t sound like it’d be too wise of me to go opening that door.” Or smart of Robert to believe that his desires were gonna have any part in getting him released from the cage. Robert Webber had killed an innocent man and would do it again.
They hadn’t exactly kept comfort in mind when the cage had been built. There was a bed roll on the floor at the back, supplies, carefully chosen so that no part of them could be used against him or his people. Undoubtedly if there was a way Robert would use it against them.
Whether or not the man had been this bad a liar before his change, Chris didn’t know. He chuckled low now, rubbing knuckles over his mouth before his face went hard again. Self-defence didn’t tear up a body the way the hunters had been. ”That’s called wolfsbane,” he said tightly. ”It was in the bullet I shot you with and the injections you got later to get you into the cage. I was hoping you’d calm down once the moon was good and gone but I can see now that this is just you.” He took a half step closer, his expression hardening. ”That crazy bastard was a hunter protecting this town from people like you. You killed him in cold blood. What I can’t tell is if you’re genuinely delusional about that or if you think I’m just dumb enough to fall for your lies?” Maybe it was a little of both.
Robert was definitely insane if he thought they’d gone to the bother of fetching him his own clothes. Or that they hadn’t checked up on him, something Chris knew he should’ve done the first time. He gestured towards the bed roll before dragging himself over a chair from behind the battered desk in the corner. ”That’s your bed. It’s not exactly what you’d call comfortable but it’s all you’re getting for now.” The smile tugged at the corners of Chris’ mouth as he pulled his phone out like he was shooting a message off to one of his men. That could still happen, all it would take was the tap of one thumb against the screen. ”So that’s where you’re staying, the motel? My people wouldn’t bother digging through your things. They’re just hand me downs, I’m pretty sure you’ll complain about that too. Like the leg. You’re a werewolf, you’ll heal with time. The man you killed didn’t have the chance to do that.” Humans rarely did.
The job was likely bullshit too. Even if it wasn’t it was unlucky anybody would rush out to find a missing person. There were dozens in Mystic Falls, half of which had to be in shallow graves thanks to things like Robert Webber. Chris slouched back in the chair with a shrug. ”You can go back to work when I get the truth … and when this stops. You don’t get to slaughter people because you got heartbroken Robert, that’s not the way it works. Madison’s gone, isn’t she?” Chris winged a brow as he slipped a hand into his pocket to retrieve the control for the electrified bars. He thumbed the button, making the bars crackle and a current shoot higher through them.

| Robert just sat in the corner of the cage and everything was so sore. He hated when the shift happened. He would rather not have it happen. He knew he wasn't stupid enough to get bitten, and he would have remembered it too. So being told that he was bitten was driving him nuts. He remembered being knocked out though and then suddenly he worked up in a different part of the forest. That night was strange, and he was bleeding from his head as well. That's when his life started to change. Heightened senses, especially the hearing, were awful. He didn't like that one bit. Then the alcohol was really effective anymore and he couldn't get a decent drink anymore. This was one of the reasons he was in a bad mood as well. Robert just pretend he was being all natural as he listen to his words but it was far far from it.
No, I am pissed off as I can't get a decent drink anymore. No matter how much I drink, I can't get drunk anymore he growled at him, as he was extra grumpy due to the fact he was in pain from the shifting as well Also your keeping me here against my will and I am starving, dirty and tired. All I want is to go back to my OWN room and just relax. But you had to go ahead and drug me… didn't you say creatures that killed a human you put them down. But you couldn't do that with me? So are staying that just to be tough?
Robert just closed his eyes as he tried to get some rest and not listen to the hunters words. I told you back earlier. He was following Madison, so I warned him to leave her alone. I was protecting my mate from what I did. But she was gone so I was already too late. But I knew that the bastard had killed her so I made him pay. You can never change my mind. Stay away from me and you have nothing to worry about. But I don't care what you are, come nearer me and I will make you sorry he snarled as he was showing he was serious and will do it too. He didn't care what he was planning on doing as Robert knew he would get out of here sooner than later
Robert laughed as he heard the hunter once, it was real fun knowing this hunter was wasting his time. Robert was a stubborn man who wouldn't listen to him at all. I have already told you the truth. You need to open your ears or get them clean and I expect you're a little deaf. For slaughtering, if people keep away from me then I have no reason to hurt anyone, but I will defend myself if I need to. If there was another hunter I would rip them to shreds too. he meant every single word too. Madison is dead you already knew that, so quit playing dumb on me. It wouldn't change my mind or actions. So was that your plan all long tough shot? he asked and looked back at him with human blue eyes at him, keeping eye contact showing true wolf aggression and dominance

Calling himself a hunter hadn’t made the man one. Chris had seen people make the claim before and more often than not they were the ones that ended up dead at the end of the day, dragging better men and women into the situations they had helped cause to try and stop them. On the night they’d met Chris had stood between the doctor and his car, helping before he had a clue what the man was going to stumble right into. Now, as he watched him sit there and growl, bitching about how things weren’t the same anymore, Chris wished he had done this back then. A few days in the cell, maybe a few weeks in one at the sheriff’s station or a month’s stay in a hospital facility somewhere and he might not have gone charging off into situations that ended up with him getting turned into one of the things he was trying to hunt.
Chris waited patiently, brows hitched like he was waiting for a bus and not some jackass to stop whining about where he’d found himself … after he’d killed a man trying to do what he’d claimed he was doing before. ”Maybe I’ll speak to the maid, have her cozy things up around here a little. I’m sure she could fluff the pillows and pour a little wolfsbane into your bottles of gut rot. I hear it has quite a kick to it.” It wouldn’t shut the guy up though. Chris sighed, his chin dropping an inch. ”Are you still desperate enough to die that you’ll try and push me into just shooting you?” It wasn’t a matter of couldn’t when it came to putting that bullet in Doctor Webber’s head, it was being unwilling to do it yet. Just a few short years ago there would have been no hesitation but Scott had shown him a different way. Robert had no idea how lucky he was that Scott had.
The anger that burned cold inside of him instead of hot sat in the centre of Chris’ chest. He laughed bitterly, shaking his head as he watched the wolf squeeze his eyes shut like somehow not looking at him made his words truer. ”I thought your girlfriend had gone missing. Which is it? She’s gone and you’re broken up because you can’t find her? Or, you saw her and the hunter was following her?” It was like trying to pin down a fly in flight, the path – in this case – the story constantly changing. Maybe Robert was too far gone to even know the truth anymore. ”You were wrong,” Chris said louder, his eyes growing colder. The only person who was going to be sorry here was the wolf when he charged again and he got what he finally wanted, a quick death.
Maybe death would be a kindness. The longer the wolf rambled, the more the story swung around. One minute the hunter was following Madison, the next she was gone, now she was dead and apparently he knew all about it. If the alcohol wouldn’t have burned out of his system in an instant Chris would have said he was drunk but it was clear now that Robert was just crazy. He dragged his hand over his face a moment before he electrified the bars, hoping the wolf would be foolish enough to touch them. Maybe it would right the short circuit in his head. ”How about we come to an agreement? I tell you my actual plan and you snap yourself out of whatever delusion you’re in and stop trying to play the hard man. Doing that in this town will only get you killed and if you hadn’t noticed, that’s what I’ve been trying to avoid since you threatened to drive off the road and into a tree.” Not giving a damn who he took with him. Chris got to his feet, tossing the remote up and down in his hand lightly as he approached the bars. He knew how far the wolf could stretch through them, knew how quickly he could hit the button and zap him and he stayed just on the right side of things.

Robert hated what he was. He was even sexually frustrated as well. Of course he wasn't going to mention this to him. It wasn't his business for starters. But Robert hated what he was. He was something that murdered his wife. He was a hunter that wanted to destroy the monster that killed her and now he wasn't able to do that anymore. He was part of the problem, which was one of the reasons he was behaving like he was far gone, but it was far from the truth. He knew what he was doing. What he was saying to make him mad. Robert lifted his head up and looked directly into the other guys eyes, with his own human blue ones
Wasn't killing monsters like me part of your code? After our little encounter I looked you up. You put down rapid dogs right? Well you have one here but instead of shooting me, putting me down permanently you locked me up here. So I don't get it, why do you want to keep me alive? he asked as he was genuinely curious and wanted to see what made him really snap. He wanted him to hate him and put him down. He hated being like this. Madison lied to him and left, he was without a anchor and one of the reasons why his temper is at its peak currently too
I am something I hate. This is what killed my wife, do you know what that is like? I wasn't bitten, scratched etc what you were on about. But you don't want to listen to me with that or seem to care. I was a hunter you know. I was trying to find the thing that killed my wife that night, I promised to kill the thing that hurt her. I am determined to fill that. But now I am the monster he said as he played with his fingers still in a rotten mood I was going to end it before I fully transformed, but Madison stopped me and promised to be there for me and never leave. But she lied as she gone in Robert's mind she must have been killed as she wouldn't have left him alone like this.
Robert rolled his eyes as mentioned the maid thing you want to risk someone being here with a killer? he asked as he knew the hunter was being sarcastic with him. He brushed the back of his neck as his entire body was aching. He decided to try and stand up even though his leg was still very much sore and healing. Some wounds make him heal slower depending what sort of damage and cause. He winced as he still wasn't able to put full weight on it. He was totally exhausted and couldn't keep up with the fighting, he didn't have his full strength back and he needed rest. Are we done? I am getting really bored with this conversation now and I need some sleep too
Unable to stick the pain Robert decided to sit back down the mattress, he really didn't care about comfort he had worse with the hotel beds. Some of these were rock hard at times. He signed as he rubbed his eyes as he was losing the big bad wolf act. That hunter was following Madison before, I gave him a warning to stay away. But of course he didn't listen. Now all of sudden she vanished two week after the hunter was stalking her, it is not hard to put them both together you know he didn't know the hunter would listen or not, but he didn't fully care either I know she is dead. She wouldn't just leave me like this. So I took revenge on her and killed him. If he stayed away and left us alone he be alive now, but he killed her he said to him and just grinned as the hunter was losing his temper, just like he wanted
Robert was totally drained; he really needed the rest. His body was totally sore. He did listen even though his eyes were closed as he was resting them for a moment. what agreement is this then? You have got my attention for now at least he asked slowly mellowing down to his usual temperament as the aggression from the change has left his system. Being a bad boy is good enough to keep others away from me. Why is that such a bad thing? he asked as he yawned more. Yeah I never understand why you did that. I still don't understand why you keep me alive now he signed and put his head down, he wasn't interested in fighting anymore. He just wants to be out of this nightmare, be human again even though that is impossible now. He have completed the transformation and like it or not, this was his life now

The expression on Chris’ face was mostly impassive but at the mention of ‘your code’, his brows hitched slightly. Even monsters could apparently use Google these days. It was a long dive from ‘restaurants in your area’ to the hunter’s creed, but it wasn’t an impossible dig. Chris shrugged after a moment, a low hum rolling out of him. ”You wanted to find out about the man who stopped you making a huge mistake? I’d have been more impressed if you information was up to date.” Low drawled comments that covered up the bristling inside of him. It wasn’t as though the Argents were unheard of, but the thought that someone here had gotten that close left him worrying for his daughter. ”If they are rabid, then yes. The fact that you’re breathing for the moment says you’re not. You’d still rather die than have someone try and save you?” This time it was a laugh but there was no humour to it. From the moment they’d met Robert Webber had been trying to die.
Down at the Falls he’d tried to explain to Robert that none of what he was saying about being just a hunter made sense. Somehow the man had been turned but both then and now the denials were coming in thick and fast. Chris lifted his chin, frowning at the man. ”If a wolf killed your wife and you’ve been hunting them since, then you know there are only a handful of ways to be turned. If it wasn’t a bite, by birth or a curse in your DNA, then what was it?” Chris ran a hand tiredly over his face, pinching at the bridge of his nose. Maybe it was the wolfsbane still working through his system, maybe the death of Robert’s wife really had shattered his mind. ”Killing something rabid, that’s understandable but the hunter wasn’t the thing that killed your wife.” Still, the werewolf had killed him and seemingly taken pride in it.
Robert continued to threaten to kill, empty promises considering the cell he was in. Chris’ lips creased into a half smile finally. He’d wandered closer himself, tossing those little crumbs of sarcastic temptation in the wolf’s direction. ”Do you think I’d trust anyone naïve with you? The maids who’d step into that cell could all put you down in a heartbeat.” Especially when the wolf was still half lame from the doctored bullet he’d pumped into his life. Chris made a small sound again, shaking his head. ”You’ve had enough beauty sleep, pal. You’re not getting out until we’ve cleared some things up … but, of course, if you slowly want to rot away in there, maybe we can come to some agreement.” He hadn’t left Robert alone at the Grill when he’d first made his threats and it wasn’t going to happen just because the hunter was throwing a tantrum now.
He’d half suspected the man was delusional, maybe he was right. At least he was sitting down, the flares of temper from earlier abating as he tried to work through some sort of logic. Chris’ fingers tapped restlessly on his bicep as he shook his head at the hunter again. ”Stalking or watching out for her? My people have no orders to kill on sight and them an you killed was one of mine. You had no proof except for your suspicions, but you chose to kill him anyway, for revenge. In a court of law that would get you a death sentence.” Not that most states had the death penalty anymore. As a werewolf Webber would find his crimes erased, the only justice coming from men like himself.
Chris’ face was still set in those stony lines as he moved towards the bars of the cage. It was like a plug had been pulled in a bathtub and the werewolf’s energy was draining away. He held the remote two feet from the bars, just far enough that reaching through for it would leave Robert twitching on the floor, the electric shock running through his body at high voltage. ”You agree not to kill anybody else. Shelve your revenge, stop planning your own death. One last chance for you to reform yourself.” Chris shook his head, watching the wolf lay his head down like he was about to go back to sleep. ”Losing someone can make you want to die right along with them, but if you do, that’s a waste of life. You agree to avoiding all of that and you get out. You screw it up and kill anybody else and I kill you on sight. That’s a promise.” No hesitation this time. Webber had no real reason to trust him, it wasn’t going to stop him trying.

Robert didn't have the energy to argue anymore. Slowly the aggression side was beginning to settle down [until the next month comes around]. He was totally drained even though he didn't sleep much. The meat from whatever he ate was getting unsettled as he was still not used to it. It made him feel sick as he was trying his hardest not to throw up. So he was thinking of something else, even though he was still wearing bloody clothes and covered in blood on his neck and chest. He really wanted a bath. His leg was really sore. But he didn't know where he was either, was it walking distance back to his hotel. He had no idea, but this hunter seemed to have fun talking to him. Robert wasn't really listening to him as he just wanted to be left just like before
Robert shocked his head. He wasn't sure he could promise that. Not killing is something he can't do. The revenge he wasn't giving up as it was for his wife. I am not sure I can agree to those terms. The revenge is for my wife, I promise her as she took her final breath that I get the thing that did it to her. It was the best I was able to do as I failed to be there and protect her that night. If I was there I would have saved her, but I was running late at work he kept his eyes on his fingers as he was playing with his own skin
Before he mentioned the second part, he turned his attention to the huge mistake. Robert didn't know what this mistake was though what mistake was that then? he asked as he wanted to know what he was referring to what information have I missed out? Only part I was interested in was. Hunter… Kills wolves… that's all I care about. I am something you hunt and kill, but you haven't done the second part still and I am waiting he returns to playing with his skin on his hand. You do know Madison was the reason I kept control right? Without her I have nothing. I just don't care. I hate being like this you have no idea how it feels, to be something that destroyed your life Robert didn't believe him saying it was his last chance. All I know is that Madison was afraid of him. When I saw him the first time he didn't say he was part of your group. So maybe he went rogue and did not follow your answers, do you believe all hunters are yours or something? He asked as his leg was really sore and the worse pain he ever felt in his life
You kill me really? I honestly don't believe that he didn't believe him. He already saw that he refused to shoot him. Lying down on his back he places his arm over his eyes how am I going to get through this. I am not strong enough. I don't want to spend another day like this he whispered not knowing or cared whether the hunter heard it or not. Look I am confused too on how this happened. But all I remember is some guy hitting me in the woods and I was bleeding. All I know is that it's more annoying as I can't get a decent drink anymore. That was my past time, my way of numbing the grief but now I can't do it anymore. I wish I was normal again, he turned around having his back facing him now as he was done with the talking.

He hadn’t expected the wolf to agree, and felt no more disappointment in the man now. Some things got a taste for killing and didn’t give a damn about the obvious consequences of their actions. Chris let out a long breath, not quite a sigh, but close enough to it as his shoulders slumped faintly. ”Then you stay, or you leave another way.” In a body bag, heading out to a spot where the sheriff’s people would find the body and cover it up one way or another. It wasn’t the way he’d wanted it to go, but there was a clear line here and Robert already had one foot over it. If it hadn’t been for the wife he spoke of now that one foot over would’ve been enough to have ended things already. Chris’ eyes narrowed faintly. He’d put up his shields around the part of him that still grieved for Victoria, he’d had to wall it off to be able to function again. ”Killing a killer is a different thing to killing an innocent man and bragging about it. The hunter didn’t kill your wife.” He hadn’t taken Madison either, but these moments of clarity Robert had were overlaid thickly with a sort of madness that stripped all logic away.
Like he was suddenly tired, Chris dragged his hands over his face, grinding the heels of them into his eyes before his fingers gripped his hair. He looked at the man behind bars through the narrow slot between his upturned elbows. What Robert had told him of his intentions at their first meeting had tugged at something in his chest, another reason he hadn’t just taken down the rabid wolf this time. ”Taking your own life,” Chris said tightly. ”I stopped you and you turned right around to try and pry into my life. You thought you found my family’s motto, think you know exactly what will happen to you now.” Hunter kills wolves. It should have been that simple, but it wasn’t and while Robert was still desperate to have someone ‘put him out of his misery’, Chris wasn’t going to let himself be played.
Hands dropping away, Chris raised them in the air, like he didn’t need to hear about Madison’s part in things again. He’d been where Robert was, had poured everything into the daughter he’d then lost. Saying he didn’t know was like denying everything that had happened t him. ”I have more of an idea than you think, but I didn’t go slaughtering people just to make myself feel better,” Chris said coldly. The laugh rolled out of him, even icier. ”Madison was afraid of a hunter. Not him. My people didn’t take her and honestly? You think they would go announcing to things who they are? That’s inviting a backlash, which is exactly what he got from someone who’s not seeing straight.” Hissing out a breath, he shook his head. What did this guy want? A year book of Argent associated hunters so he could pick his next target?
Up on his feet, Chris grunted. He stood close enough to the bars to watch the wolf up close. He’d already suspected that the Dread Doctors were doing more than just hybridising things in this town. They were toying with people, like the hunter Derek had almost found himself killed by, and now this hunter too. It was a pattern to work his way around later, but for now Robert was the bigger problem. ”You’ll believe it in the end. In the few seconds you have before the lights go out,” Chris said simply. ”Doctor the drink up with a little wolfsbane and you’ll be just as drunk as you used to be … and just as miserable. Alcohol’s not the answer and neither’s murder. I guess maybe we’ll see how you’re feeling after you take your little nap. A few weeks in a cage changes most minds.” Chris turned, taking the remote with him as he walked out. The wolf wouldn’t change, like a leopard he suspected those spots were firmly fixed in place.
