━ And I'm glad you did, brother━ Being a werewolf was really hard at first. There was just so much that could go wrong. He struggled with control for the longest time and to this day, he had his moments but it wasn't as frequent as before. Right now, it was easier for him to grasp reality by remembering something that Scott had asked him when he first lost control. What are three things that cannot be long hidden? The sun, the moon, and the truth. It worked every time for Liam as he slowly but surely calmed down, claws retracting and the glow in his eyes easing until they disappeared completely. Scott was always there for him, helping him every step of the way. He was a big brother he never thought he needed until now. He was, essentially, his anchor along with Hayden. Both of them helped him gain control whenever he lost it.
He was currently in the McCall's residence and he was definitely enjoying his time. He had finished the assignment due next Thursday and now, he had a lot of time on his hands. If you asked Liam what he loved the most about being a werewolf, he'd say his heightened hearing, strength and his sense of smell. Sometimes, it got overwhelming like right now as the smell of burning food reached his nose.
Wait, what?
Liam blinked out of his thoughts and sure enough, the smell was really evident. He turned around and looked at the burnt eggs resting on the pan. "Oh no, no, no." Liam reached out to grasp the pan, letting out a yelp in the process as he burned his hand. It healed not long after though. He wrung his hand a few times to get rid of the pain before he blew on his hand a few times. "Oh c'mon..." Liam whined as he looked at the burnt bacon and eggs on the pan, the edges of his lips tugging down in a small frown. "They smelled really good, too..." Liam continued whining before he grabbed a cloth to grasp the handle of the pan, putting it under the faucet, watching as steam started coming from the pan. It was supposed to be a quick snack for him and Scott but apparently, the universe didn't want them to have it. He looked at the burnt egg and bacon now resting on a plate. "Don't look at me like that, I forgot about you." He spoke to the egg that looked like it had been to Hell and back. Poor egg. The bacon wasn't looking any better, honestly. Liam grumbled as he looked at his worst creation by far with his arms crossed in front of his chest.

Scott hadn’t known what to make of it at first after he was bitten by Peter. He was terrified but the one person he’d always been able to count on to stick by him was Stiles. His best friend had been there for him through it all and Scott knew that without him and Derek then he wouldn’t have made it this far. Stiles had helped him hold on to his humanity while Derek had taught him everything that he could about being a werewolf. Scott had never thought that he would end up becoming an alpha and it definitely wasn’t something that he would have willingly gone after the way that Derek had but in the end it had chosen him. He’d had no choice but to step up when the Alpha Pack attacked Beacon Hills and ever since then he had been doing his best to figure all of this out. Thankfully he had plenty of people on hand to help him out when he needed it and the truth was that he was grateful to them for that. He had realised a long time ago that he would never bite anyone unless there was no other choice and that was how it had worked out with Liam, Hayden and Jasper. All three of them would have died if he hadn’t tried it and when it came to Derek, well, he’d lived for too long as a Shapeshifter and had known that he didn’t want to do that any longer. Scott had known that it wasn’t right for him to make that decision for Derek, it was something that his friend had had to decide for himself and luckily it had all worked out. Now Derek was a werewolf again like he should have been all along and for the first time in a while things seemed to be falling into place. They still had the issue of the curse on Danny’s family hanging over their heads and there were still people being experimented on around Mystic Falls but those weren’t problems that Scott wanted to focus on right now if he could help it. It felt like he and Liam hadn’t been able to hang out together for a while and that was something that they had both wanted to change. Scott had gained a few brothers since becoming a werewolf, Stiles had always been there with him but along the way he’d gained Derek and Isaac who had become family to him as well and now Liam as well. He hadn’t known that when he’d bitten Liam, he hadn’t had any idea about what he was doing at first and he’d had to rely on the others for help but in the end they’d found a dynamic that worked for them and that was something that Scott was glad about. That day it had been easy to forget all about the supernatural world and everything that was going on in Mystic Falls while they worked on their assignments together and as the smell of burning reached his nose, Scott felt an amused smile form on his face as he realised what had happened. “Remind me not to let you loose in the kitchen again,” Scott teased as he grabbed some fresh bacon and eggs out of the fridge. “Luckily we’ve got some more,” he grinned as he started tossed the ruined food in the bin and started again. “I hope you’re better than this when you’re with Hayden,” he added as he nudged Liam’s arm with his own to show that he was just messing around. ━ And I'm glad you did, brother━ Liam looked up from the burnt eggs and bacon to look at Scott who had just entered the kitchen. Liam's shoulders slumped a little bit as the edges of his lips turned down in a small frown as his bottom lip jutted out in a small pout. "It's not that bad, okay?" The young werewolf looked down at the burnt food before he relented. "Okay yeah, yeah... It's pretty bad. But! Do you remember the pancakes I made last time? They were pretty good, weren't they?" Just thinking about those pancakes made his stomach grumble. He moved his hand to rest it on his stomach, giving it a few soothing rubs as if that would solve his issue.
Liam's eyes followed Scott as he pulled more of the ingredients out of the fridge which made him nod in determination, eager not to mess it up this time around. "Okay, round two? I promise I won't burn the house down this time around." He said with a guilty chuckle following. He grasped the eggs and the bacon to crack the eggs on a new pan that he got out of the cabinet and placed on the eye of the stove. "Can't believe you came all the way over here just to tease me. I'm never gonna live this down, am I?" Liam said with a chuckle falling from his lips. He wasn't actually upset that Scott came here to tease him. If anything, he really enjoyed the company. It made him focus on the present instead of getting lost in his memories again.
"Oh wow, you're choosing violence today, aren't you?" Liam picked up the towel to jokingly throw it at Scott. "I'll have you know, I'm way better when I cook for Hayden." Liam puffed his chest, feeling quite proud of that. "I just got lost in my thoughts for like... three s-- minutes." Liam grumbled with another pout tugging at his bottom lip. "But now, my competitiveness won't let me mess it up again, just watch. I'll be like Gordon Ramsay, but better and... with no accent. Just watch." He began working on making the snacks for them again, this time his brows were furrowed in concentration. He was definitely not going to mess it up this time around.

“They were pretty good,” Scott conceded as he entered the kitchen and leaned against the counter. “I bet you couldn’t make them again though,” he added, a teasing gleam in his eyes as he looked over at Liam. There were a lot of things that the guy was good at but cooking wasn’t one of them it seemed although the truth was that Scott wouldn’t be surprised if he had ended up getting distracted or something like that if the burnt bacon and eggs were anything to go by. Scott wasn’t upset at all that Liam’s first attempt at cooking hadn’t gone well, in fact it was good to be able to laugh and do something normal for a change. Ever since he was bitten so much of his life had become about the supernatural and it was easy to forget that there was anything more than that to think about at times. Scott and his friends were all still young, though, and he couldn’t deny that it felt good to remember that every now and again. Pulling some more eggs and bacon out of the fridge, Scott nodded. “How about this time we make it together?” he suggested, knowing that it would be much safer that way and chances were that his mom would much prefer that too since there was less chance that they would end up burning the house down. As Liam said he wasn’t going to live it down, Scott couldn’t help but laugh. “No, you’re not,” he teased. “Even if I let you off the hook you know Malia won’t and she’ll smell the burnt food the moment she walks through the door,” he grinned, knowing that his girlfriend would pick up on it straight away. He had learned a lot about being a werewolf since he had become one but she had spent years living as a coyote in the woods before he found her so she was always good at picking up on anything amiss. “Yeah, I guess I am,” Scott laughed, catching the towel that Liam threw at him automatically before setting it down on the side. “You’d better be, I doubt she’d let you loose in the kitchen again after that,” he teased before studying Liam carefully for a moment as he said he got lost in his thoughts. “What were you thinking about?” he asked, not sure if there was something bothering his friend. As Liam spoke again, Scott held his hands up and moved away from where Liam was working. “Alright then, let’s see what you’ve got. Just don’t burn the house down.”LIAM DUNBAR

━ And I'm glad you did, brother━ Liam’s expression turned into a pleased one when he heard from Scott that his pancakes had been pretty good. “Thanks.” Liam’s shoulders lifted and dropped in a smug shrug. “Told you I have lots of potential.” He added a moment later, his smugness still visible on his face and in the tone of his voice, but that was smashed in an instant when he registered Scott’s next words. “Heyyyy,” Liam grumbled when Scott continued to tease him. “I…” Liam’s lips parted and closed a few times. Back then, he had watched countless cooking videos in order to perfect the pancakes. This time, he probably won’t be able to do them on his own. “Okay, yeah, I’d suck pretty badly at them.” Liam added a moment later as he relented with a small sigh following. “You’re really enjoying this, aren’t you?” Liam gave Scott a heatless glare, knowing that Scott was only teasing him.
Liam perked up at that. “Seriously?” He eyed Scott for a few moments before he eventually nodded his head a few times. “Sure, yeah.” Liam said with a quick nod of his head following. “Fewer chances of me burning down the house that way.” Liam added a moment later with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after. He released a quiet grumble as he processed Scott’s words, his eyes warily moving to the door as if he was expecting Malia to storm in at any second and pick out the burnt scent only to start teasing him not long after, but thankfully, the door remained closed for now. “Oh, yeah. I definitely know that. She’s merciless.” Liam said with a shake of his head following. “Can’t believe that I’m staying here just to get bullied twenty-four-seven.” There was yet another shake of his head following as he pretended to act pitiful. “I’ll tell Hayden on you both. She’ll give you an earful on my behalf.” Liam’s lips stretched into a victorious grin not long after saying that.
“Unbelievable.” Liam shook his head with a disappointed sigh following. “I’m telling Melissa when she comes back.” He threatened as he pointed his index finger at Scott. Liam couldn’t stop the chuckle that fell from his lips at Scott’s words. When he laughed, he momentarily got distracted and when he smashed the egg to get it into the bowl, some eggshells got in as well. “Stop making me laugh, I need to focus if I wanna save what’s left of my pride.” Liam picked up a spoon to pick up the eggshells from the bowl or else they’ll be eating crunchy eggs for breakfast. “Hm? Oh, well… I was thinking about Hayden and also thinking about you.” Liam’s hand continued whisking the eggs until it was mixed well with the salt and pepper. “Thinking about how far I’ve come, too.” There was a time when Liam let his anger take control over him, but Scott always helped him. He was always there for him. “I was thinking about how it feels like I have two anchors and just one? Like, um… Thinking about Hayden when I’m angry helps, but also thinking about you helps me, too.” Liam pointed out with a quick shrug of his shoulders following, his lips stretching to form a small smile. “I think that’s basically everything I was thinking about.”
Liam let out a chuckle at Scott’s words before he nodded his head. “Just watch and learn, buddy. Watch and learn.” The young Beta puffed his chest with pride as he continued working on prepping the breakfast for them.

“I wouldn’t go quite that far,” Scott chuckled as Liam said that he had lots of potential. Liam was really good at a lot of things but cooking wasn’t always one of them. The truth was that Scott didn’t really mind though, he never expected Liam to cook for him so he always appreciated it when he did. Scott was normally the one who took care of his friends so he knew to make the most of it when one of them decided to do something for him for a change. Scott had never thought that this would become his life, there was a time when the only friend he’d had was Stiles and werewolves had belonged in horror movies. Now his life was completely different and even though it had been difficult to get his head around at first, now he felt like he was who he was meant to be and so everything that had happened had been worth it. There were always going to be things that he wished he could have changed like Allison and Erica dying for example but they were both back with them where they belonged now so it had worked out in the end at least. It was clear that Liam didn’t have a comeback when Scott continued to tease him and that alone was enough to bring a smile to the alpha’s face. “At least you admit it, that’s the first step,” he grinned before pretending to consider it for a moment as Liam asked if he was really enjoying this. “I might be,” he said at last, knowing from the look on Liam’s face that he knew he was only messing around. “Of course. You’re in my house, I never expect you to cook for me,” Scott assured him, patting Liam on the shoulder once he’d set the eggs and bacon down on the counter. As much as he liked to tease Liam he did enjoy spending time with the guy even if that meant doing so while they cooked. “You might have had a few mishaps but you’re a long way off burning down the house, don’t worry,” he chuckled. As Liam said that Malia was merciless, Scott nodded. “You’re right about that, try living with her,” he grinned. Anytime he did something wrong Malia always picked up on it but the truth was that he didn’t mind too much as he knew that it was just her way. “You love it,” Scott said, nudging Liam’s arm playfully with his own before letting a shocked expression form on his face when Liam said that he was going to tell Hayden. “Playing the girlfriend card? That’s really low,” he said, shaking his head in mock disappointment. “Speaking of Hayden, how are things going between the two of you?” he asked, unable to keep up the pretence for too long. Liam and Hayden seemed happy whenever Scott saw them together but he wanted to make sure. As Liam said he was going to tell his mom when she came back, Scott playfully batted his finger away. “First the girlfriend card and now the mom card? Here I was thinking you could stand up for yourself,” he teased. He was only messing around of course, Liam was more than capable of holding his own and giving as good as he got so Scott really wasn’t worried about that. The threats were amusing though, that was for sure. Scott couldn’t help but laugh as Liam said he needed to focus if he was going to save what was left of his pride. “I think it might be a little late for that,” he chuckled. Scott had grown up as an only child but Stiles had always been like a brother to him and now Liam was as well so it was good to be able to have banter going back and forth with him like this. As Liam said he was thinking about him and Hayden and how far he’d come, Scott found himself nodding. “You’ve come a really long way. I know I don’t say this much but I’m proud of you,” he said sincerely, no hint of teasing in his tone whatsoever as he spoke. He knew that it had been difficult for Liam at first with the anger issues he had already been dealing with but he was doing really well and Scott knew how hard he was working to keep his anger under control. “Some werewolves aren’t lucky enough to find one anchor, I’m glad we’re both able to help you,” he said gently. “Before Allison died she was my anchor but afterwards I had to learn to be my own. Now I have all of you guys to think about and you’re the ones who help me stay in control,” he added. He knew that he was fortunate to have such a great group of friends around him and he knew better than to take that for granted. As Liam spoke again, Scott couldn’t help but laugh. “Alright then, let’s see what you’ve got,” he grinned. LIAM DUNBAR
