Public speech. It sounded like a nightmare to every person with anxiety or even issues speaking up. The class was progressing well, but he knew what was going to happen sooner rather than later and he wasn't ready for it. He knew that he'd simply never be ready to stand there and talk. His heart hammered in his chest at the mere thought of it.
Adam propped the book onto his desk and opened it and hid his head behind it so his teacher couldn't see him. He was calling out names, pairing them together and Adam couldn't do much other than hide. "Adam and Aerith," his teacher's voice soon made itself known with his name falling from the man's lips, causing Adam's heart to jump into his throat. "I suggest you hide better next time, Adam." The teacher's voice was light-hearted as he spoke, not really mocking him. Some students laughed at his joke making Adam's cheeks heat up in embarrassment. After the class was done, Adam gulped and finally mustered up the courage to look around him to spot Aerith. He knew what she looked like because he had seen her with Viola a couple of times but they never really talked. "Relax, Adam. You got this. She's not going to eat you." Adam breathed out and closed his eyes momentarily before he opened them and stood up to make his way to Aerith, his book hugged closer to his chest as a way to bring comfort to himself. "Hey, Aerith, right? We have, um, a project together." She already knows, idiot. A voice responded in his head, making him release a sigh. "You already know that, right. I knew that but I still said it. I don't know why I said it and I don't know why I'm still talking," Adam stopped his ramble and looked away, his cheeks heating up with embarrassment all over again. God, he was such an idiot.
