THIS IS A CRUEL WORLD AND I EXPECT very LITTLE FROM IT.
The crunch of the snow under his boots was mildly satisfying as he walked, his blue eyes taking in his surroundings with a rather curious shine to his eyes. It was like he had been shoved into an entirely different world. Everything around him looked too different for him to process with ease. His brows furrowed when he heard a rather loud noise that made him feel instantly on guard. His eyes settled on the machine that drove by with a man manning the wheel. Was that some sort of land ship of some sort? What kind of sorcery was that? Sebastian frowned and looked around him, which made some people think that he was high or something akin to that from the way he was staring at people as well as buildings.
"You okay, dude? You trippin' balls." That question came from a boy in his mid-twenties, staring at Sebastian as if he had grown a third eye in the middle of his forehead. Sebastian's eyes scanned the boy's clothes, noticing the unappealing rips to his trousers which showcased his knees. He found himself at shock at how that was found even remotely attractive. "Damn, you into some medieval cosplay or some shit?" The man continued to prod at Sebastian's business, his curious eyes taking in Sebastian's outfit which consisted of a black vest of the finest material and a white dress shirt underneath. On his lower half, he had black pants and boots. Perhaps he did look a little odd, but it was to be expected from someone who had spent hundreds of years desiccated in a box. His fashion was completely different, and so was his entire world.
The overly curious man tried to ask yet another question but Sebastian held his hand to stop him. "Must you ask so many bloody questions? I do not have time for any of your chit-chat, you turnip." Sebastian's voice gave away just how done he was with that stupid conversation. The boy looked offended but did not dare to say another word to Sebastian who took it upon himself to turn to face his right and crossed the road while the traffic light was still green, so of course he heard quite a few honks from displeased drivers and the sound made his ears ring in the most unpleasant way possible. How utterly annoying.
Sebastian stopped in front of an establishment of some sort and made his way to the door, pushing it rather pulling the door. When it refused to relent, he shook it with force with something akin to an annoyed grunt. He released the knob from his hold and watched as two girls passed by him and pulled the door open like it was the easiest thing in the world. Sebastian managed to squeeze in as well, his blue eyes taking in his surroundings. It was packed and filled with chatter. It was strange, seeing humans out in the open like that. Back then, they were hunted by vampires and chased to their cottages. Was it no longer the golden times, then?
Sebastian made his way forward to the man behind the bar. "Is this a tavern of some sort?" Sebastian asked with a small tilt of his head which earned a confused look from the bartender, then a scoff followed. "Sure. What can I get you?" Ah. Finally something was still the same. "Get me your finest jug of moonshine, then." That earned him yet another confused look. "Moonshine...? Uh. Not sure we have that. How about I give you something else instead?" Sebastian's frown deepened but he didn't reject her offer to bring him a drink. He touched the stool which was high and without a back to support him which was rather odd, but with a sigh, he decided to sit down and wait for the drink.

Sebastian's blue eyes drifted to settle upon the man who took it upon himself to make an order for him. His eyes shifted back to the bartender to see if she understood that, at the very least and sure enough, she looked like she got it. Sebastian quirked an eyebrow when he noticed the way she was looking at his attire. "I am not bloody naked, must you all look at me like that?" Sebastian huffed, sounding exasperated as their gazes were starting to get on his nerves. There was a flushed blush on the woman's cheeks after getting caught staring, possibly having thought Sebastian would not comment upon it but she was gravely mistaken.
I suppose you're not used to all this new era grandor, eh?
Sebastian's attention drifted back to the man when he heard his question, he took a moment before he shook his head. "No, I'm afraid not." His voice soon made itself known, his accent hanging heavily onto his words. "I awakened not a couple of hours ago and I am starting to think that being stuck in a box was not all that horrible, after all." Sebastian huffed, his sarcasm lacing his words as he allowed his blue eyes to scan the place. So loud. He could hear almost every single word and it was starting to drive him further up the wall. Not only that, but if he focused hard enough, he could hear the sound of their blood pumping through the veins and it was maddening as it brought back the ache to his gums, leaving him with a throat made of sandpaper, making it tough for him to swallow. Though, his drink was soon placed in front of him, causing his gaze to draw back upon it.
Sebastian reached forward to wrap his fingers around the glass, lifting it to his lips to take a tentative sip, the burn of the alcoholic drink sliding nicely down his throat which brought back a hint of nostalgia. "Perhaps the only unchanging part of the world is the taste of liquor." Sebastian hummed, mostly to himself as he took a moment or two to appreciate the taste whilst welcoming the burn with open arms.
Sebastian's eyes soon drifted back to the other, giving a faint nod as a thank you for helping him with the drink bit as he was uncertain what that woman would have picked for him. "Have you experienced something like this before?" Sebastian's curiosity was rather obvious in his voice. He wondered if the man had experienced what it's like to adjust to a whole new era. A part of him did believe that he would not be able to do it with ease. Not without it driving him mad first.

THIS IS A CRUEL WORLD AND I EXPECT very LITTLE FROM IT.
I wasn't at first either, but it's not hard to learn.
Sebastian released a thoughtful hum at that, his gaze settling on his drink again, letting his thumb trace over the rim of it as he gnawed on his inner cheeks. "How does one catch up on centuries that have passed? There is simply too much. The technology is..." Sebastian made a vague gesture to his surroundings. "Truly confusing." When he first saw a woman talk to think air, he thought he had entered a mad world where the only sane person was him, but it turned out to be some sort of device that he knew nothing about. Apparently, voices come from the other end of the line and it is like a conversation but without the other person being present. Such a thing would've never existed back then. But as times changed, so did the technology and he cannot imagine him ever finding it easy to rush with the tides. He felt rooted in his spot with vines clawing into his feet to make sure he doesn't move an inch. "Let us not talk of these death machines." Cars. He was talking about the cars. They looked --- intimidating and he did not understand how they operated. "They command the vehicles like drunken pirates." His distaste was clear on his face as he spoke. He was nearly hit by those death machines due to him not really understanding how the traffic lights worked and all that mess. It was all so overbearing and overwhelming.
Trust me mate, if you're anything like me. That box regardless of how silent it was within its confinement. The world around you continues to pass as if you are not there. Unimportant and unmoving while the thoughts in your mind riddle you mad. Though your sarcasm is rather amusing upon the point.
Sebastian listened to the other, his expression unreadable at first before he slowly moved his drink closer to his lips. "I suppose I have experienced something like that. Standing right there but you are completely unnoticed. You scream but your voice cannot be heard." Sebastian trailed off with a small sigh leaving his lips. Those were the memories he did not quite need at that particular moment as it toyed with his nerves and left him reaching for his drink for the umpteenth time to let the liquor slide smoothly down his throat. He had to watch as those merciless hunters tore into Cassandra, leaving behind a body he could not recognize.
Among other things, I do so agree. My favorite taste of liquor, however, happens to be good ol' Scotch.
Sebastian's gaze drifted to the bartender, asking her to fetch them a glass of scotch, then. He leaned back on his seat, his blue eyes drifting back to the man. "I shall give that a try as well." In front of him, there was a sea filled with drinks, he wanted to try just what else these pesky humans had come up with during his absence. "I thought the numbers in places like these would shrink as time passed but it is still lively as ever, I see." The taverns used to have countless people in it, all taking at once. Some were vulgar, others were just chatting about the women in their beds. It was a situation he had grown accustomed to whenever he would decide to leave his ship. Sebastian was quiet as he listened to the other reveal that he had experienced something like that over the centuries which made him quirk an eyebrow. "I see," Sebastian murmured as he moved his glass higher to his lips. "Does it any get easier?" He asked a moment later, his gaze drifting back to Kol. "Have you grown accustomed to the changes, or?" Sebastian clarified his question shortly after, his gaze still on the man.
"For one, I do not think I will be able to process it all in a short amount of times. Might take me years just to grasp it all." Sebastian trailed off with a small sigh falling from his lips shortly after as he looked back at his drink and in that particular moment, he realized that the other did not know his name and he did not know his. "I am Sebastian." He, at last, introduced himself with a nod of his head following and when his drink came, he wrapped his fingers around the strong glass and moved it closer to his lips to take a sip to taste it and the burn that slid down his throat was welcomed with open arms. Not bad at all.

THIS IS A CRUEL WORLD AND I EXPECT very LITTLE FROM IT.
That it is, but with how i came to catch up upon centuries that I had missed is quite simple. I read. With the inhuman speed that I have, it's quite easy to scour the library and read all that each parchment has to acquire. Then I went to manuals of how to use technology and well,
Sebastian paused and looked over at the other. His attention drifted to the phone in his grasp. "You see, that would have been rather easy for me. But I was never taught how to read or write, for that matter." He released a long sigh past his lips before he leaned back on his seat. "But perhaps I will learn how to read now that I am given a second chance in life. Or is it my third?' Does being reborn as a vampire work as a second chance? Perhaps. He was not too sure about that.
Vehicles are much like a ship, steering it in the direction to which you wish to go. There is just a lack of crew... and a bit more intricate details that would befuddle you if you were to lift the hood.
"Does make sense as to why some people drive like drunken pirates." He had seen some reckless driving and it was a sight that he could not get used to. At least, not right away. "I would rather not lift the hood, if I am being honest. There are too many things that befuddle me enough as it is." The vampire said with a small sigh following, his attention drifting to the drink in his hand. "Do you drive a vehicle?' Sebastian asked, his tone rather curious.
The trick is to make yourself be heard, mate. Even if it means making a spectacle. I'm over a thousand bloody years old and I still have a blood lust issue, so I do not think it gets easier in that regard. But fooling these mortals to doing whatever you desire is rather easier then it was back then. More naive. But don't worry mate, it shouldn't you take years if you just do as I stated. Read with inhuman speed at the local library. In fact, I could even guide you if that is what you prefer.
Sebastian watched the other for a moment or two, blue eyes settling upon him. "Do you like making a spectacle?" The vampire asked shortly after because the man did sound like he was talking from experience. He felt rather curious about him. He was quiet as he listened to the other talk before he nodded his head slowly. "I lived in a time that was called the golden age of the vampires. We were able to do whatever we pleased. I made towns rain blood from the cruelty of my actions. It was exhilarating," Sebastian said with a grin flashing over his lips before he took a sip from his drink. "I cannot quite read or write, so if you do wish to guide me, it would be appreciated." It was possibly his first time seeking help from another person.
"Mikaelson..." Sebastian repeated, the name sounding rather familiar. "I have heard that name before..." He hummed to himself, his eyes drifting to settle upon Kol. "Are you from the original vampires bloodline?" It seemed to click for him right then and there. He'd heard rumors about there being an original line of vampires. His attention drifted over to look at his drink. "Ah, yes. It's quite addictive. I like it." Sebastian said with a nod of his head following as he downed his drink in a big gulp. "I appreciate the aid in choosing a drink."
