Death was meant to be the end of it, that was what Erica had always been told when she was younger. It wasn’t meant to be something that would happen to her for a long time but then again becoming a werewolf also wasn’t meant to be possible. Erica’s life had changed forever the day that Derek made her the offer of becoming one so that she could be free of her epilepsy once and for all and even though her life had been short lived after that she knew that it had still been so much better than the one that she had been living before. Her condition had left her without any friends and it had made her live in constant fear of another seizure. Just when she thought that she had everything under control another one would hit and she would be right back at square one but that was a thing of the past now. After joining Derek and his pack she had found some true friends in Isaac and Boyd, the first that she had ever really had in her life, and she’d had people worth fighting for. It had taken her a while to realise that she didn’t have to shut herself off from everyone else anymore and she had finally started letting a few select few people in. She knew that she wasn’t always the easiest person to get along with, the shields she had built to protect herself over the years weren’t easy to slip passed, but she had tried and she knew that that had to count for something. In the end she had given her life to try and save Boyd and Cora while they were being held captive by the Alpha pack and she felt like in those final moments she had finally become the person that she was meant to be. Unfortunately that was when her life had come to an end. Stuck on the Other Side she’d had plenty of time to think and wonder what had happened to Cora and Boyd and to Isaac as well and when the opportunity had presented itself to leave the Other Side and return to the land of the living she had known that she would be a fool not to take it. She knew that no one was going to go to the trouble of bringing her back, there were only three people in the world who might have considered it but she had known that she couldn’t sit around waiting to be rescued when they probably weren’t even trying. Instead she had realised that she’d needed to save herself and that was exactly what she had done. It had taken some time to come to terms with it all but she had finally left her old life in Beacon Hills behind her and for the last year and a half she had been travelling the country searching for the few people that truly mattered to her. So far she hadn’t even come close to finding them but she had heard rumours about a powerful pack in a town called Mystic Falls led by a True Alpha and it hadn’t taken her long to figure out that it had to be Scott and his friends. She hadn’t known what kind of a reception she could get from them but she had known that there was only one way to find out and if there was a chance that they could help point her in the direction of Boyd, Isaac and Cora then she knew that she had to try. It was with that in mind that she had finally managed to reach the town that oddly enough reminded her of Beacon Hills quite a bit. She had only arrived in town the day before and she’d quickly had to prepare herself for the full moon. She had stashed the few meagre belongings she had at the motel she had managed to book herself into while she tried to find something more permanent and a lot less disgusting before heading out with a bag of clothes slung over her shoulder. The feeling of freedom that she felt every time she changed into a wolf was still second to none but as the sun began to rise she changed back into her human form not quite where she had expected. Naturally she didn’t know these woods at all yet but she had still thought that she had stayed pretty close to the place where she had left her bag of clothes but she just couldn’t seem to find it and she knew that she couldn’t head back to the motel like this, not without drawing unwanted attention to herself. “Come on, it has to be around here somewhere,” she muttered before a growl sounded in her throat as she heard footsteps approaching. Her guard was up instantly but as she realised who it was, a smirk formed on her face at the boy’s expression of astonishment. “I told you I have beautiful everything,” Erica smirked. She knew that Stiles might be aware of the fact that she’d died and that might explain why he was looking at her the way he was but she also knew that it might have something to do with the fact that she had yet to put any clothes on and she wasn’t exactly shy about it. “I get that this is probably the first time you’ve seen a girl without any clothes on outside of a magazine but if you could stop gawking and help me find the bag I left around here somewhere I would appreciate it,” she added as she continued her search. It wasn’t him on clothing duty this month. They were sharing it out, taking it in turns to slip out to the woods just before dawn and set out fresh sets of clothes in ‘their spot’. With half the pack turning furry at the full moon it pretty much left it down to him, Allison and Lydia, but it still meant it was the same one of them risking a view of more than a polite amount of flesh out here each month. Last month he’d scooted out of sight, heading back to his Jeep to wait for the first of them to emerge fully dressed from the trees, this month was Lydia’s turn.
Now, that should’ve meant that he got an extra couple of hours in bed, catching up on sleep he was never anywhere near actually being caught up with. Soft pillows, a pile of sleep inducing Trig homework next to him. So freaking easy, and yet, he was creeping around out here, dew misting up on the ankles of his jeans and a massive sign that practically said idiot stuck between his shoulder blades. Coming out here when there was a job to do was one thing, poking around on his own again … that was another entirely.
Chewing at the tip of his tongue, his hand scrubbing through his hair, dragging down his face, Stiles slipped down out of Roscoe. He reached back with the other, closing the driver’s door behind him as he looked around. The moon had just been going down when he’d left home, now it was down beyond the trees. The sun was heading up, light beginning to spill out amongst the trees. He’d heard that other wolves had been heard out here and not anywhere near the Mikaelson mansion. A kid stumbling on them just after they’d gotten control over themselves might not’ve been the wisest move in the world but after what had happened to Scott Stiles knew he couldn’t just ignore what was going on. They needed to know who else was out there, and how much trouble might still in store for him. Maybe he was breaking the promise he’d made a little by not bringing anybody with him but Lydia knew exactly where he was gonna be and he’d pushed to grab breakfast together after. If he didn’t show … then she’d know where to turn up to see if he’d been turned into shredded beef.
If it was something worse than another pack out here, maybe it’d be crispy shredded beef. Worrying his teeth into his lower lip Stiles started off through the trees. He’d barely gone a couple hundred yards along a relatively familiar trail when he heard a growl go up from amongst the trees. Shit. Had there been some freaky moon thing and someone hadn’t turned back? Grimacing, Stiles let his hands shoot up and then he caught the flash of pink. He made a half hearted attempt at covering up his eyes but then he caught sight of the tumble of blonde hair and stopped freaking flat. ”Erica? Erica?!” Stiles froze, mouth hanging open, then let out a whoop that was probably approaching unmanly levels. He laughed out loud, starting forward meaning to sweep her up into a hug, miles of bare skin and all. ”Bag … like … clothes … right.” He dropped his arms and started to dig around in the undergrowth. Seconds later he let out a yell, thrusting it straight up in the air. ”Got it! And by the way … not the first time. You missed a lot.” Snorting, he approached and then said screw it. He threw his arms around her, hugging her unashamedly for a moment before he shoved the bag between the two of them. It wasn’t like it had been a capital H hug.

Before she died Erica had still been relatively new to the supernatural world. Derek had done his best to teach her, Isaac and Boyd as much as he could and she knew that she wouldn’t have survived as long as she had without him but she had learned a lot more after she managed to find her way back from the Other Side. She had felt lost when Derek had come to her offering her a way to stop her seizures for good, she had been desperate to go back to being a normal kid again and she had agreed to the Bite without knowing what she was really signing up for. She didn’t blame Derek for that one bit, she should have asked more questions and she should have thought about it a lot more before saying yes but she had seen it as her way out of embarrassing herself every time she thought that her life was getting back on the right track. The kids at school had never even tried to understand her condition, there were those who had tried to help but there were even more who had thought that it would be funny to make her life hell because of it. After the video of her having a seizure had circulated around the school she hadn’t wanted to go back but she hadn’t had a choice in the matter as it would have been that or stay home where it was clear that she wasn’t wanted. She had wanted an escape and Derek had given her that but it had ended up costing Erica her life and it had taken her a while to come to terms with that. When it came down to it, though, she knew that it had been worth it in a way. She felt stronger and more confident since becoming a werewolf than she ever had before and even though each full moon was agony she had found a way to cope with the pain and she had been working on honing her skills. She knew that she could have stayed with the vampire and witch that she had befriended after she had hijacked the vampire’s resurrection but she had also known that she couldn’t just abandon the people that she cared about. As far as her parents were concerned they believed that she was dead but they’d never had time for her anyway. Her younger brother was the only one that she had felt bad about leaving behind but she knew that her mom would give him a better life than she ever had her eldest child so Erica had known that it was time to move on. She had wanted nothing more than to find her friends and make sure that they were all doing ok but she hadn’t expected to run into Stiles while she was looking for her clothes after her first full moon in Mystic Falls. She wasn’t embarrassed in the least the way she would have been years ago, now she was confident in her body and she felt a smirk work its way across her face as Stiles repeated her name. “Of course it’s me, Stiles,” she said, rolling her eyes as she looked over at the boy. “Are you really going to stand there gawking all day?” she asked, a hand falling to her hip as she studied him carefully for a moment. He hadn’t changed that much and even though the two of them hadn’t exactly been friends as such she was surprised at how good it was to see him. “I don’t mind heading back to the motel like this but I think others in town might have something to say about it,” she quipped, reaching out for the clothes he had found before feeling herself freeze as he wrapped his arms around her instead. That wasn’t something that she had expected and it was a little awkward to say the least but she found herself hugging him back nonetheless. Catching the bag as he shoved it between them, she shook her head as he said that it wasn’t the first time. “Somehow I doubt that,” she teased before disappearing so that she could get changed. Pulling down the t-shirt as she reappeared a short time later, she made her way back towards Stiles again. “That’s better, thanks,” she said as she reached him. “Before you said I missed a lot. Care to fill me in?”STILES STILINSKI

The minute they’d tracked the demon wearing Allison to this town Stiles had thrown himself into research. Drooling into his keyboard when he’d passed out at five AM in the middle of it, hammering away at the keyboard of his laptop at every rest stop as they’d made their way across the country to try and track her down to Mystic Falls. There hadn’t been a ton of stuff about the weird side of life in the town on the surface but the more he’d dug beneath the surface the more certain Stiles had been that the town was determined to live up to its name. He should’ve known it could, Beacon Hills had after all. This was on another level though. Here it didn’t take screwed up werewolf rituals to bring people back from the dead.
Here they just turned up smack in front of you.
Once upon a time it would’ve been the fact that Erica was standing there entirely naked that had struck him dumb but now it was the fact that she’d been dead … and now she was back and it wasn’t like there was a witch or warlock standing over her to make it happen. Of course. Of course it was her. Oh God she had no idea. Stiles huffed out a laugh, shaking his head at her as he continued to stare. His brows drew together as she asked if her was going to stand there gawking all day, his dark eyes fixing on her mouth rather than those cocked hips as his brain struggled to put it together. He let out a whoop of laughter then, turning around on the spot to dig through the undergrowth she’d been standing over when he’d arrived. ”Can’t blame me,” he called out to her as he crashed through it. ”It’s not every day you see a dead girl standing bang in front of you.” His mouth was hanging open again as he handed her the bag.
She wasn’t the first girl he’d seen standing in the middle of the woods naked but it was the first time he’d managed to keep his feet while doing it. Then he really had been shocked by the sight of bare skin. ”My dad having to arrest you for public indecency might get pretty awkward,” he admitted. Awkward was going to happen here one way or another anyway. Stiles threw caution to the wind and swept Erica up in a hug anyway. Clinging on for a moment as he drew in a breath and felt her hugging him back. Stiles pulled back, pushing the bag into Erica’s arms before he politely turned around. He heard her disappearing anyway but kept his head tipped back, staring up at the sky as he heard her getting dressed. ”I’m not the same Stiles you left,” he warned. ”You’ve seriously got a lot to hear.” That included what had happened with Malia and Lydia and Allison, the nogitsune, the Dread Doctors. God, it was going to take days.
Stiles turned back around as he heard Lydia emerge. He crossed his arms over his chest, scuffing his feet in the dirt. ”We start catching up here and we’re gonna be here all day,” he said honestly. Tipping his head back towards the road, Stiles indicated Roscoe. ”How about I give you a lift back into town and we get breakfast? I can start filling you in on how the hell we got here on the way. We are all here by the way, pretty much all of us anyway.” Not including Peter or Deaton. Bit by bit the rest of them had made the move across the country.

This wasn’t exactly how Erica had thought that she would end up running into the gang from Beacon Hills again but if she was honest despite the slightly awkward circumstances it was good to see Stiles again. She had spent the last couple of years searching for all of them and now it seemed that her search was finally over. She wasn’t sure whether all of them were in town or whether that included Cora since she knew that the girl had gone it alone for a long time before they met but now she at least had the chance to find out and if Cora wasn’t in town then she hoped that it wouldn’t take long for her to get there. The two of them had bonded a lot during their time being held in captivity and the truth was that Erica really was eager to see her, Boyd, Isaac, Derek and all of the others again. She knew that to some of them they hadn’t even looked at her twice before she became a werewolf and Stiles had certainly been one of the ones who was guilty of that but during her time with Derek’s pack, however brief, they had become her family. She had been dead for about a year before she was able to find her way back to the land of the living so returning home hadn’t been an option. Instead she had been forced to leave behind the only home she had ever known, albeit an incredibly crappy one after her parents split up, and she had been on her own ever since. She had grown used to it by now but the truth was that it still got lonely after a while so she was glad that she finally seemed to have found the only people who really knew her again. “I’m not dead any more but if you keep staring much longer rather than helping me find some clothes you’ll wish I was,” Erica warned. She wasn’t ashamed of her body, not any longer, but she didn’t particularly like standing around in the woods without any clothes on so the sooner she was able to find some the better. She didn’t normally have this problem but the woods around Mystic Falls were vast and she hadn’t been in town long at all so she didn’t know her way around them yet. That would come with time but for now she was going to have to make do with stealing some of the clothes that Stiles had brought for the others and hoping that they didn’t mind too much. If they did then the truth was that it didn’t really matter to her too much as she knew that they would figure something out. Right now her needs were greater and she rolled her eyes as Stiles said that his dad having to arrest her would make it pretty awkward. “Luckily that’s not going to happen,” she said, knowing that Stiles would do the right thing and give her some of the clothes he had brought with him. “Sounds like you’d better start filling me in then,” she suggested as she got changed once the awkward and yet slightly comforting hug was out of the way. She wasn’t used to needing people but it was good to see that one person was pleased to see her even if Stiles and his friends had probably completely forgotten about her after she died. Emerging once she was dressed, Erica nodded as he suggested they get breakfast. “Sounds good, I’m starving,” she admitted, glad that she wasn’t going to have to suffer the embarrassment of Stiles seeing that she was staying at the motel yet. “Really? Are Derek, Cora and Boyd here too?” she asked, unaware that Cora and Derek were out of town and that Boyd had died not long after she had. STILES STILINSKI

Up until Derek had gone making himself a pack Erica had been a pretty invisible. She shouldn’t have been, nobody ever should’ve been, but at the time his own attention had been elsewhere. On Lydia, on Scott, on lacrosse, skittering anywhere except for the mousy blonde. They’d all known who she was of course, Erica’s epileptic fits meaning she couldn’t melt entirely away into obscurity but Erica had been firmly into the background until Derek’s light had suddenly shone a light right down on her. It had been pretty damn miraculous, not back from the dead miraculous like this was right now, but stunning all the same, even after Derek had sent her, Isaac and Boyd out to try and figure out what the hell was going on with the kanima. While there’d been time for them to make things up with Derek again afterwards, as far as you could with a guy who threatened your life pretty much every time you broke into his apartment, it had been too late for Erica and Boyd. The Alpha pack had killed them and now … somehow Erica was back and just as she been before, that cutting edge that sounded so much like Derek in her voice that Stiles gawped for a moment before he forced his mouth shut.
Man, Derek was going to lose his shit when he realized Erica was back and here.
Stiles lifted a hand, flapping it in the air as he dragged his gaze up. He needed another dose of Adderall after this, something to get all of those skittering thoughts under control in the way a thump from Erica wouldn’t quite achieve. Better living through necessary things. Raising a hand, Stiles scrubbed it through his short hair. ”I’m looking, I’m looking,” he promised, scrambling through the scrub. He made sure his eyes were on the ground as he dug around for the bag. Like it couldn’t have been made easier, like tossing the damn thing up a tree. Wasn’t much more eyebrow raising than a naked woman climbing a tree to retrieve something though and even for werewolves there was a level of pain in that which had probably ruled it out. ”As long as nobody turns up right now asking what the hell’s going on,” Stiles muttered to himself. That was a question he was asking himself enough as it was.
Mystic Falls had been living up to its name from the very start, taking what was already pretty twisted in their lives and knotting it up so tight that they were gonna need Alexander the Great and a sword to get through this. Raking his teeth over his lips Stiles turned away as Erica got changed, rapidly sorting through what had happened in his head. He wasn’t gonna correct her on him and the naked girl thing, that could wait. ”It’s gonna take a while,” he admitted dryly. As she emerged dressed Stiles turned back, tossing the bag back so the others could find it out here. Stiles huffed an amused breath. ”Makes two of us. I could eat a horse.” Gesturing back towards the truck, Stiles started back in that direction. He hadn’t intended on diving in on what had happened to Derek first but Erica obviously had a pick of what she wanted to hear. ”Derek and Cora were, yeah, they’ll be back. Boyd … you, uh, you missed a lot.” Grimacing, his throat bobbing, Stiles stopped as he opened the passenger side door for Erica. ”The Alpha pack didn’t stop after the bank. I .. uh … I’m sorry, Erica, they got Boyd, they forced Derek to kill him.” His voice went hoarse as he explained, his head shaking slightly as he dipped it. There was no way of easing into the fact that he was dead.

Erica had spent all of her time since she managed to make it back searching for Derek, Cora and the others but the truth was that she hadn’t known what she would do when she found them. She had wanted to be around the only people who would truly understand what had happened to her but wanting to find them and actually doing so were two completely different things. She knew that she could have stayed with the vampire and witch that she had befriended when she snuck back from the Other Side but she had grown tired of intruding on the two of them and she had known that she couldn’t stay with them for too long. Returning home just wasn’t an option since her parents, her younger brother and everyone else in town believed her to be dead for good reason so she had known that she would need to start over anyway but it hadn’t felt right doing so anywhere along the way. She knew that she could have moved just about anywhere and it wouldn’t have made too much of a difference but she had wanted to be around people who knew her and who she wouldn’t have to worry about hiding what had happened from. She wasn’t exactly close to Scott and the others before she died but she was close to Derek and Cora and she had known that if she was going to stand a chance at finding the two of them then she would have to find Scott and the others first. She had met a few people along the way who weren’t too bad but they weren’t anything like those she had befriended in Beacon Hills so she had known that she wasn’t ready to give up the search just yet and she had eventually found her way to Mystic Falls. Staying at the motel wasn’t ideal but it was the best that she could do at the moment and so she knew that it was just one of those things. It also meant that she could come and go as she pleased without having to worry about drawing attention to herself and that had definitely come in handy the night before considering that it was the full moon. It still hurt when she shifted into her wolf form but she knew better than to fight it now so it didn’t hurt anywhere near as much as it once had. She had known that there would be other werewolves in town from what she had heard about the place during her travels but she hadn’t thought that she would end up running into Stiles before she had even managed to find her clothes. “Sure you are,” she muttered, rolling her eyes as Stiles said that he was looking. “It will be the first and last time you’ll have to do this, don’t worry. The first full moon in a new place is always the worst,” Erica assured him. By the time the next full moon rolled around she would be much more familiar with her surroundings so she knew that it would be much easier to find her clothes next time. Finally Stiles found them and Erica got dressed as quickly as she could. “I’ve got time,” she said as Stiles told her that it would take a while to fill her in. There wasn’t a doubt in her mind that she had missed out on a lot so she knew that the sooner he started filling her in the better. Following Stiles back to his truck, Erica studied him carefully as he said year Derek and Cora would be back before hesitating when he mentioned Boyd. “Stiles, what happened?” she asked, a feeling of dread already starting to overtake her as she waited for him to continue. Erica stayed where she was when he opened the door for her and folded her arms across her chest, knowing that she wasn’t going anywhere until he had told her what had happened. “No,” she said, her eyes stinging with tears that she quickly blinked away as she thought about Boyd. He was one of her closest friends and she didn’t want to think about him dying like she had but now she couldn’t think of anything else. “I made it back so he will too. I’ll find a way if he hasn’t already,” she said, her voice full of determination as she climbed into the truck and closed the door behind her. STILES STILINSKI

He might just about have swallowed his tongue when Erica had turned up at school after Derek had turned her. Erica of the lank hair and acne, Erica who’d spent her entire life battling epilepsy in front of witnesses who found the idea of her losing control of her bladder hilarious. Erica who’d sashayed into the cafeteria with doe eyes and painted lips and a figure nobody ever would’ve guessed she’d had hiding under her clothes. Maybe he’d stared then a little, maybe there’d been a little drool and maybe he’d had a peek now but she’d been standing there in all her glory and while his mind was on Lydia more often than not these days he was a guy and he had eyes and … it was inevitable. Even Derek would’ve peeked, for a moment, and then stood there all bold as brass and broody about it. There might’ve been a time when he’d called Derek a monk but Stiles knew better than that now. The guy was as hormonal as the rest of them and the people he got hormonal about had a tendency to end up a danger to the rest of them, Derek was just way better at hiding it, it seemed.
At least he’d managed to pull his eyes away to start looking for the bag. Stiles gave a squawk as Erica muttered at him. ”You honestly think I’m over here getting a manicure?” he asked. He hopped over some low brambles, grumbling as they caught at the ankles of his jeans. ”I know I won’t. That’s the beauty of a pack, someone’s out here after every full moon with clothes. My dad’s not sheriff here, there’s no way he’s gonna be able to bury news of a dozen teenagers strolling around the woods naked.” This wasn’t home so they’d created their little network for the morning after the full moon. Unless there was an emergency everybody got to head home fully clad. Everybody. That was going to be a hell of a set of introductions. After Erica had died the pack had seemed to grow almost exponentially and there were changes in it that were gonna be pretty damn hard to explain.
Turning his back while Erica dress, Stiles bobbed his head as Erica told him she had the time to hear everything he had to tell her. Should he have asked if she meant days or hours? Some of it wasn’t going to be his story to tell but most of it, oh yeah that was gonna come spilling out once he started. Inevitably he started by putting his foot in it. Stiles pinched his mouth shut as he opened the door for Erica, it was too late though, he was in the middle of that minefield and the look on Erica’s face was proving the explosion was only moments away. ”I’m sorry,” he managed hoarsely before he just came clean. No big bang, no losing of a limb for him, just those tears in Erica’s eyes that she blinked away and the feeling like he’d torn someone’s heart out. Stiles shook his head, swallowing hard. ”If we thought there was a way we would’ve tried,” he managed hoarsely. It hadn’t been like Riley and the others though, this wasn’t only moments after Boyd had died. Cursing himself, Stiles jogged around to the driver’s side and got in. ”How did you come back?” he asked as he started up the engine. There was a grating sound, a rattle and then he was trying again. ”How did you know we were here? Did you go back to Beacon Hills first?” Some there knew where they were, although how many of them would’ve spoken up who honestly knew. As the engine caught, Stiles stomped the gas, sent Roscoe screeching back onto the road.

Erica had spent such a long time searching for Derek, Cora and the others and she knew that she could have reached out to Deaton to make her life easier but she had heard that he wasn’t in town at the time either and at the end of the day he didn’t know her other than that she had sided with Derek against Scott and the others and she didn’t know how much about what had happened to her that he had been told. Going into town was risky in itself, there was a time when she used to be invisible to everyone around her other than when she was having a seizure so she was used to flying under the radar but she had known that it wasn’t worth the risk. If anyone had seen her then it would have made things complicated when she’d decided to leave town again. Instead she had stayed on the outskirts of town with the friends that she had made and she had only ventured to her old home to see Harley. She had known that she couldn’t leave without saying goodbye to her baby brother and after doing so she had visited her grave and left her old life behind her. She knew that she could have started over just about anywhere but at the end of the day she had wanted to be around the only people who truly knew her and it looked like she had finally found them in Mystic Falls. This wasn’t exactly the way that she had thought that she would end up running into any of them but she wasn’t ashamed of herself or her body any longer but she knew that she needed to get dressed and get something to eat before heading back to the motel. It wasn’t ideal but it was all she had and she was making the best of it. “Might as well be,” she muttered, rolling her eyes as she continued her search for the bag of clothes that she had left for the morning. “You do that for each other?” she asked, her expression softening for a moment before she shook her head and resumed her search. “It doesn’t matter, I’m not a part of your pack.” She knew that they wouldn’t want her to be either after everything that she had done back in Beacon Hills so she knew that it was just one of those things. She and Boyd had left Derek’s pack in search of another, they had been looking for a pack that would keep them safe but instead they had found themselves in the clutches of the Alpha Pack. That was the kind of thing that Erica had wanted to escape from and she hoped that in time she would be able to leave that behind once and for all. Erica had learned how to stand on her own two feet since she had found her way back and she knew that she wasn’t going to let anything change that now. Thankfully it wasn’t much longer before her clothes were found and she got dressed quickly before heading to the jeep with Stiles. She didn’t like the thought of having to take anything from him but the fact was that he knew the town a lot better than she did so she knew that she didn’t have a choice. “Sure you would have done,” she said, not believing those words for an instant. She and Boyd weren’t Scott or Lydia, hell they weren’t Derek either. They weren’t anything to any of them so she knew that they wouldn’t have tried. The only one that would fight for Boyd was her and she knew that she wasn’t going to give up on him. Erica had expected the questions to come during the drive but they started before Stiles had even managed to start the rust bucket and Erica looked out the window, knowing that it was easier to focus on what was around her. “I heard rumours on the Other Side about a vampire who had a witch in Beacon Hills that was going to open the veil and bring him back and I hijacked it,” she shrugged. “I stayed with them both for a while just outside of Beacon Hills and they found out that you’d all moved away. I’ve been travelling around trying to find you all ever since.”STILES STILINSKI

Back home running on a full moon hadn’t been as big a deal. Werewolves had likely been running in Beacon Hills since the first Hale had put down roots. The preserve was big enough that all but the most out of control had somewhere to go unseen. Mystic Falls had been a learning curve, things here shining enough light on the situation that they’d put together a way to avoid Forbes finding them in compromising positions with every full moon. Most of the time he avoided getting an eyeful when he dropped the bags off. It was just a matter of setting down the clothes and backing out, hanging out in the front seat of his Jeep until people began to emerge in that werecreature walk of shame from the woods. This hadn’t been that, not even close, so honestly, who could blame him for flailing a little bit here? Oh, right, Erica.
Stiles shot her a look over his shoulder, his gaze instantly skittering away as he batted harder at the undergrowth until he managed to catch sight of the damn bag that looked like she’d hidden it in the hardest to reach place. ”Would you like to come dig around over here yourself your majesty?” Stiles asked. He grimaced as he reached in to the nest of brambles and grabbed the bag. ”Considering the alternative, yeah. We take it in turns. Barring emergencies it works pretty well and so far my dad hasn’t had to try and bail anybody out for public indecency.” His expression softened slightly, his brows furrowing as he’d held the pack out to Erica. ”It’d be awkward given that his boss isn’t … you know … aware …” Not of their own particular circumstances at least. Not that he knew anyway. Forbes seemed pretty competent when he saw her down at the station but the fact that there wasn’t a single hint of the supernatural in the statements she realised about the situation in town meant that either she was incompetent or she was hiding it at a level he didn’t understand yet. ”You honestly think Scott’s not gonna invite you into the pack?” he asked, turning his back as Lydia dressed. Erica had left Derek’s in search of another with Boyd, she hadn’t had the chance to come back the way Isaac had.
That was gonna change though. It had to with Erica appearing back here like this. Stiles frowned at her, feeling the jab in her voice. It felt like Malia when they finally got her away from Eichen … it hurt. ”We don’t leave people behind,” he said with a thin trace of hurt in his voice. They wouldn’t have walked away from Erica or the others if they thought there was a chance that somehow they could bring them back. It hadn’t even seemed like an option until they’d reached Mystic Falls. Gritting his teeth on it Stiles got into Roscoe and started trying to get the engine going. He got straight to the heart of it as goosed it, got the engine coughing and pulled out before it stopped. One brow rose, quick glances snatched at Erica as he pulled onto familiar roads back into town. ”Damn,” he muttered. ”We know other witches and warlocks who got through the veil, never heard of anybody piggy backing their way out though. There aren’t many people left back there. Allison … she died … something brought her back and it came here. We followed, trying to save her from it.” They had in the end, although there’d been a cost. There always was.

Erica had spent the last year and a half looking for everyone but it had to be said that this wasn’t exactly how she had thought that a reunion with any of them would go, let alone with Stiles. There was a time when Erica had had a crush on him but back then like everyone else he hadn’t even known that she had existed so that ship had sailed a long time ago. Had she still been the same girl that she was back then she would have no doubt been embarrassed about Stiles finding her naked in the woods after the full moon but she hadn’t been that girl since she had accepted the bite when Derek had offered it. She had gained so much more confidence in herself after that and she knew that she didn’t want to go back to the way she used to be. She had chosen to leave Derek’s pack in favour of going to search for another as she had felt sure that she would only end up getting killed if she had stayed with him but that was exactly what had happened after she had struck out on her own anyway. She and Boyd had ended up getting caught by the Alpha pack and Erica had ended up losing her life as a result. The only good thing that had come of it was the fact that she had been able to get to know Cora while they were being held captive but so far Erica had yet to find any sign of her or Derek, the only person she had come across was Stiles and she hoped that through him she might be able to get in touch with the others. Rolling her eyes as Stiles asked if she wanted to dig around over there instead Erica bit back a retort. Right now as much as she might hate to admit it she needed his help finding the clothes that she had left around here somewhere. It was clear to her that the bag had been moved because even though she had hidden it she hadn’t found it in any of the places that she would have stashed it yet and it was infuriating to say the least. Thankfully it wasn’t much longer before Stiles found the back and she took it from him and got changed quickly. She wasn’t ashamed of her body the way she used to be but that didn’t mean that she wanted Stiles to get too good a look either, it was just awkward. “That is pretty good of you all,” she conceded. Erica had grown used to only being able to rely on herself and leaving a bag of clothes somewhere that she could find them after the full moon had always worked for her up until now but she couldn’t deny that their way was much better. As Stiles spoke again, Erica shot a look in his direction. “You do remember that I tried to kill Jackson and your little redhead, right?” she asked, not sure whether he was choosing not to remember those things right now or whether it was just the shock of seeing her again that had made him forget and make an offer that he wouldn’t otherwise make. She had no idea what had happened to any of them after she died but she was pretty sure that even they couldn’t overlook the things that she had done. “Not to mention your Katniss Everdeen wannabe used me as target practice.” Those weren’t people who would welcome her back with open arms, of that she was certain. As Stiles said that they didn’t leave people behind, she shook her head. “I’m sure you would have made an exception for me. I’m not one of the group and I’m not Derek but that’s ok, I’m used to being on my own,” she shrugged. It had been that way before she became a werewolf so she didn’t see why it should be any different now that she was back. She could count on one hand the people that she had ever been able to truly count on but she had turned her back on Derek when she had left his pack in search of another and she wouldn’t be surprised if he was still holding onto all of the things that she had done but she wouldn’t blame him if he was. Climbing into the jeep, she buckled up before turning her attention to the road as Stiles drove them in the direction of the town. “It wasn’t easy but it worked,” she shrugged. If her timing had been even a little off then she knew that she would have been stuck on the Other Side still so she was glad that it had worked. “What was it?” she asked, unable to deny that her curiosity was piqued. The pack that’d once consisted of just him and Scott had grown almost exponentially since they’d followed the demon possessing Allison to Beacon Hills. Derek losing his Alpha status saving Cora’s life had probably had a little to do with that, Scott pretty much opening his arms to not only Isaac but Derek himself too, although, werewolf didn’t really cover what Derek was anymore. Robyn, Riley, Liam … all of them had ended up coming into the fold and Danny too. They didn’t discriminate, at least Scott didn’t. There were times when he maybe questioned Scott’s open door policy, pretty vocally too, but there was no way Scott was gonna slam the door in anyone’s face when they came to him looking for help. He hadn’t with Ethan and Aiden and Stiles was pretty damn sure he wouldn’t with Erica, no matter what she’d done when they’d been back in Mystic Falls.
Family didn’t turn their backs on family.
Some of them might’ve scoffed at the idea but it was true. They were more than a pack and that meant watching out for each and every member. Undoubtedly Erica would be on the list next month. Him, Allison, Danny or Lydia making their way to the spot when an extra bag of clothes. Stiles shrugged, slipping his hands into the pockets of his jeans and hunching his shoulders slightly. ”We watch out for one another and … you know … having to walk back to town naked tends to raise a few eyebrows, especially since my dad’s not sheriff here.” It meant that when there was trouble there was far more to cover up and with way more difficulty. The only blessing was that his dad was still in the department, Parrish too.
Stiles stood, foot tapping, gnawing at his lip as Erica got changed behind him. By the time he turned back he was more than ready to get out of here. Erica was still questioning what he’d told her though, shooting him a look that was met with one of his own. Muscles bunched in Stiles jaw as he dropped his head and sighed. ”Do I look like I’ve lost my memory since the last time you saw me?” he asked, snarking back just as much. ”Lydia, it’s Lydia and you know it. We’ve all done some pretty shitty things Erica, still doesn’t mean we turn our backs.” Stiles swallowed hard. He hadn’t exactly been lily white over the last couple of years. He flexed his hand, remembering the way it had felt to run Scott through with that sword. That was the thing about family, you forgave. Sighing, Stiles rolled his eyes skyward for a moment. ”Allison. I know you didn’t end up with memory loss coming back.” Erica had always been smart as a whip which meant at some point she’d hear the honesty in his voice.
Exasperation turned to frustration. ”Hey!” he snapped. ”I told you we don’t leave people behind. That means even you. You didn’t see what it was like after you died…” Erica had been beyond it all then, missing the fall out of what the Alpha pack had done, the grief felt for her loss. If he was really pissed there was no way in hell he’d offer Erica a lift back into town. Stiles huffed faintly at the thought as they drove away from the spot where he’d almost fallen on his ass at the sight of Erica naked as a jay bird. Shaking his head, Stiles let out a long breath, a faint laugh at the end of it. ”Never is from what I’ve heard. They’re gonna be glad to have you back though.” Not sure how much Erica knew, Stiles swallowed hard, glancing sideways at her. ”A demon,” he admitted hoarsely. ”After we … lost you … things got bad for a while. An evil spirit … it was controlling some other spirits and Allison was killed.” Like with Erica and Boyd they’d thought that was it but the world could surprise the hell out of you.

Erica hadn’t known what she was letting herself in for when she accepted the Bite from Derek but the truth was that if she had the chance to do it again then she knew that she would have still made the same decision. Before she became a werewolf she was invisible to everyone around her unless she was having a seizure. Her home life was a complete mess, her parents’ marriage had fallen apart and her dad’s new partner had made it clear that there wasn’t room for her in their perfect little family. The step-monster and step-sisters had made sure she knew that she wasn’t welcome there and it hadn’t been much better with her mom. Her mom’s sleazy boyfriend had kept on trying it on with her so by the time Derek found her the truth was that she was desperate to get away. After saying goodbye to Harley she had struck out on her own and she had grown used to looking out for herself but she couldn’t deny that she missed having people in her corner. She’d had Derek, Isaac and Boyd in the beginning and after she and Boyd were captured, Cora had come into her life. Erica knew that she could have started over wherever she wanted but in the end she had realised that even though she couldn’t go back to her old life in Beacon Hills she still wanted to be around people who really knew her. “You have a point there,” Erica conceded. She was used to looking out for herself but it was going to take her time to get to know her way around Mystic Falls so she knew that for once she needed to stop being so stubborn and let someone help her. That wasn’t something that she was very good at after everything that she had been through but she knew that she needed to work on it now that she was finally around people she cared about again. If she was honest she had started to wonder if she would ever find them but she was glad that she had even if it might not seem like it. She had built walls to protect herself a long time ago and she still wasn’t very good at letting those walls down now. Nodding as Stiles said that they had all done some shitty things but that his friends didn’t turn their backs, Erica wasn’t entirely sure that the others would be so quick to forgive her for what she had done but she knew that only time would tell. For such a long time she had been made to believe that she was a lost cause and she knew that it was about time that she started trusting people again. Rolling her eyes as Stiles said that he knew she didn’t end up with memory loss when she came back, Erica stayed quiet. She knew that she was being awkward and normally she found that fun at times but Stiles was trying to be nice to her and she knew that she needed to remember that. “I’ve been doing this on my own for so long I’m not used to having people want to help me,” she admitted, knowing that that was probably about as close to an apology as he was going to get. She had made a few friends along the way but when it came to the full moons she had preferred to face those alone rather than risk hurting anyone. “You’re right, I didn’t see what it was like after I died,” she added. She had been able to see through the veil now and then but nowhere near as much as she would have liked and when she had been able to see through she’d had to take the chance to watch over her brother while she had the chance. “I hope you’re right,” she admitted as Stiles said that they were going to be glad to have her back. She still wasn’t particularly convinced about that but she knew that she had to give them all a chance. As he explained what had happened to Allison, Erica’s eyebrows rose in surprise. “Demons and evil spirits? Those things are real too?” she asked. She knew that she shouldn’t really be so surprised, after all she had come across a few different species along the way but never anything like that and it was a lot to take in to say the least. Stiles doubted he could even remember a time when he wasn’t Scott’s best friend. It was like Scott had always been there, the one person who got what he was going through, the one person who actually saw him, who didn’t just see him as the hyper kid with the weird obsession with the little red headed girl. Scott had been the one he’d dragged out to the woods the night his dad had got the call about half a body being found, the one who’d led to charge to get that damn thing out of his head, still the person he was closest to in the entire world except for his dad. At some point they’d stopped just being friends and had ended up brothers. Bit by bit the family had grown in a way, if you could call a pack of people who wanted to do bodily harm to one another half the time family. They were a weird bunch, which was saying something considering he was usually considered the weirdest one in the room. Somehow they’d come together though, had worked their asses off to protect one another, even if they’d been the ones causing each other pain at various times in the past.
Tilting his head at Erica as she gave in to what he’d told her about that now, Stiles shot her a wry smile. Of course he had a point. He knew what had happened since she’d died though … she didn’t. Erica hadn’t seen everything they’d gone through, what they’d done to make sure they kept everybody safe. Those were stories that were gonna take days if not weeks to tell.
He raised his hand, fingers finding the taught muscles at the back of his neck as he snarked back at Erica. Stiles paused at her admission, softer than he’d expected after he’d gotten a little snippy. His mouth pursed slightly before it quirked at the corners. This pack thing was something they’d all had to get used to, having people there to lean on even if you didn’t want to. It was tough, they weren’t going anywhere. ”Well you’re gonna have to get used to it,” he told her, waving a hand at her as it came back down. ”Scott’s ended up like full mother hen, he’s gonna take you under the wing as soon as he knows you’re back.” And Derek … shit, Derek was gonna have a heart attack after this.
Thinking about everything they’d gone through while Erica had been gone had Stiles’ smile disappearing. He stared out at the road as he drove, only glancing at Erica from time to time. Things had already been going downhill when the Alpha pack had taken her and Boyd … after it had been … he let out a long breath, shaking his head. ”Part of me’s glad you didn’t. It got bad, for everybody.” Some of that bad had been done with his own hands. Stiles glanced down at them now, his gaze skittering back up as he frowned. He dragged in another deep breath, let it out slowly as he turned into the town proper, off of the road that had cut through the trees. ”I know I am,” he said hoarsely. Nodding, he finally managed something that sounded like a half amused snort. ”Yeah, they’re real and … it was riding around in me for a while. I didn’t … I couldn’t hurt Allison but that thing did. We stopped it but there are so many things here … worse things. You really wanna be back in the middle of that?” The question was half a joke but some part of him wondered at the timing of Erica showing up here all the same.

Erica could have moved just about anywhere after she made it back from the Other Side and she would have been able to start over but she had known that she wouldn’t have been happy on her own. She’d had to leave her parents and her baby brother behind in Beacon Hills because everyone there knew that she had died and she had known that there was no way that she could go back to her old life. Scott, Stiles, Derek and the others on the other hand all knew about the supernatural world and she had known that if anyone would be able to understand what had happened then it would be them. Derek had taken her in after she became a werewolf and he, Isaac and Boyd had become her family in a way that her parents hadn’t been in a long time. Neither of them had wanted her after the divorce, her dad had remarried and the step monster had made it clear that there wasn’t any room for her in their perfect family while her mom had been a train wreck. Only Harley had made it bearable but she’d had to leave him behind as well and that was the one regret she had. She knew that she hadn’t had any other choice, though, and she could only hope that he would get to live a good life. It had taken her a while to find the people that she had been looking for ever since she got back but she finally had and she couldn’t help but feel glad about that even if Stiles had been the one to find her. “Sounds like some things haven’t changed. He still likes doing that, huh?” she asked, remembering the way that Scott had tried to help all of them back in Beacon Hills even though they hadn’t wanted to be helped. He had managed to get through to Isaac more than her and Boyd but things were different back then. Derek had recruited them because he’d wanted to build a pack to gain more power while Scott had tried to help them because he had genuinely wanted to. That was before he became an alpha though so she knew that his motives could have changed since then but something told her that they wouldn’t have done. She had known Scott and Stiles for a long time and she knew that they weren’t like that at all. “I believe you,” she admitted as Stiles said that it got back for everyone after she died. He had told her a little about what had happened but there was still more that she didn’t know and she knew that she would get it all out of them over time. She could quite easily press Stiles for more details now but she knew that it really wasn’t fair to do that to him and considering that he was giving her a ride back to town she knew that it wouldn’t hurt to give him a break this once. Erica’s eyes were fixed on the road as Stiles explained about the demons and evil spirits that he’d mentioned and her expression softened slightly as she turned to look at him. “You’re ok now though, right? You’re free of that thing?” she asked, surprised at the slight hint of concern in her voice as she spoke. As he asked if she really wanted to be back in the middle of all of that, Erica shook her head. “Not really but I’ve moved around a lot and it made me realise that I don’t want to start over in a place where no one knows who I am or what I’ve been through. I want to be around people who know the good and the bad things I’ve done and accept me anyway so where you guys are is where I should be too,” she shrugged. They were the only ties to her old life that she had left and she knew that she wasn’t ready to give that up. STILES STILINSKI
