| Lydia tapped her pen staring out the window, her thoughts elsewhere. She thought Beacon Hills was full of death. Mystic Falls turned out to be the exact same. Couldn’t shake a stick without hitting something supernatural. Hell, she was in class right now with at least one werewolf and two vampires. Even so… she was still glad that they all left Beacon Hills behind, get her best friend back. Now all they had to do was make it to graduation still alive and with her being best friends with death. She wasn’t getting hints about one of them near death.
A friend had come close and she hadn’t felt anything. Stiles called her and told her that Scott had been attacked by a group of wolves… and she had been surprised. Stiles equally surprised that she hadn’t been screaming as Scott had been on death’s door, or so she had heard. It obviously wasn’t his time, and for that she was glad. Her and Stiles had then spent even longer on the phone, her spending the majority of the time trying to assure him that she was fine after her melt down the other night.
She was only bought out of her thoughts when she felt people starring at her. She turned back to see the entire class looking at her after the teacher had asked a question, ” What?” She asked, and the teacher repeated asking for her to finish off the equation. Eyes on her she stood and walked to the front of the class accepting the chalk from the teacher and wrote in the finishing part with speedy efficiency despite having been in her own world just moments before. She handed the chalk back to the teacher and sauntered back to her seat, and as she arrived the bell rang out and people gathered their things and began filing out of the room and running for the exits the school day over.
Lydia was not in such a rush and so made it back to her locker slipping her books inside. She pulled out her class notes as she had somewhere to be before heading home herself. She had just finished helping Allison making sure she graduated with the rest of them. Now she had to catch Scott back up as well, since the attack he wasn’t able to attend school. He was back next week though and there were a few quizzes which would count toward his grade. Lydia being the tutor of the group, now was heading back to her car and heading towards Scott’s house.
Arriving at the house only minutes later, she grabbed everything she needed and headed up the front porch. Knocking on the front door her class notes in hand ready to catch Scott up on everything he has missed.

Scott had never been good at letting people see him when he was hurt or sick. For a long time now it had just been him and his mom and she had been so stressed trying to pick up as many shifts as she could in order to provide for the two of them that he had learned to take the suffer in silence approach. There were times when he’d had to stay home and his mom had ended up being able to stay with him or he had ended up staying home alone while he was sick but ever since he was bitten he had never had to worry about that. Becoming a werewolf wasn’t something that he would have chosen nor was it something that he had wanted but if he was honest there were times when he couldn’t shake the feeling that perhaps he was meant to become one all along. He was the best version of himself that he had ever been now and he knew that he wouldn’t have been able to become that person if he hadn’t been bitten. For a long time he had wanted to reverse what had been done to him and there were still times now when he found himself wondering what it might have been like if he had stayed out of the woods that night but now he was learning to embrace what had happened to him and all of the good and the bad things that came with it. He and his friends had lost both Allison and Riley and those losses had shocked all of them to the core but they had been brought back to them. Had it not been for Bonnie then Scott knew that he would have become the next person that his friends would have ended up mourning but as it was she had saved his life and now the worst thing he had to worry about was being cooped up inside until Monday when he would have healed enough to get back to school. Normally Scott was able to hold his own when he was attacked and he had managed to do that when Klaus’ werewolves had attacked him but there had simply been too many of them. They had known exactly who he was and what his response would be to their demand that he join Klaus when the time came and they had apparently been prepared for that. He had given as good as he had gotten but in the end he had been left battered and bleeding some way away from home. Bonnie’s magic was what had saved him and after that the two of them had finally talked and they had ended up getting together so there was a silver lining this time around at least. He had tried going back to school a couple of days ago but his mom had put her foot down and insisted that he stay home until Monday so that his body could heal more than it had so far. Scott had tried to protest but then he had remembered just how worried she had been about him when she had showed up at Bonnie’s to pick him up and he had thought better of it. Instead he was doing everything in his power to stop himself from going crazy while he was stuck at home and he was also trying to keep on top of the school work that his friends had been bringing to him so that he could graduate with the others. Danny and Lydia had both been doing their best to tutor him so that he wouldn’t fall behind and as the knock on the door sounded he knew that it had to be Lydia since she was the one who had volunteered to help him that day. A lot of Scott’s minor wounds had healed but he still clutched his side when he walked and it still caused him pain but in a few days he knew that he would be absolutely fine so he just had to do his best to be patient until then. Making his way to the front of the house, Scott opened the door and offered Lydia a smile. “Hey Lydia, thanks for doing this,” he said as he stepped aside to let her into the house. LYDIA MARTIN

| Lydia remembered a time when she used to hide how smart she was behind a Queen Bee façade. Then there had been things more important. Dating the most popular guy in school… she still managed to maintain her grades with ease. It usually fell to her to tutor her friends, particularly when their grades fell into the toilet.
This wasn’t one of those times. It was just unfortunate that he had missed a significant amount of work. This close to graduation the last thing she wanted was for any of her friends to be held back a year. She had gotten Allison through her make up tests so she could graduate depending on her scores in finals. She was confident that she could catch Scott back up for when he was well enough to return to school.
She had arranged to go there after school one day and took off in her car and pulled up outside Scott’s house. She hadn’t been to see him since the attack. Stiles had said he had been in bad shape. With his wolf healing he should be almost completely healed by now. Clutching his school books to her chest and her notes, which she had been told in the past were like gold, and knocked at the front door and patiently waited for him to answer.
She smiled back at her friend when he answered the door. She gave him a quick once over and caught that he was still holding his side, ” Should you be walking?” she asked out of concern. She realised then she should of called ahead and then let herself in. When he thanked her for coming over, ” It’s alright. A few hours and it would be like you haven’t missed a thing.” Lydia winked and then sauntered her way past him into the house, ” Where do you want to sit?” She asked. Couch sometimes was usually too comfortable to study and meant you couldn’t concentrate properly at times. Kitchen table was usually best but given his current state… She didn’t care which room they used.

There was a time when Scott really hadn’t been a very good student. He had been distracted and he had done enough to make sure that he was able to pass each year and keep up with Stiles and be able to play lacrosse but the truth was that he had never really pushed himself or stepped out of his comfort zone. It had taken figuring out that he wanted to become a vet for him to find some direction in his life and to begin with he honestly hadn’t thought that he had what it took to get through the AP classes he’d needed let alone his regular classes as well. He had come so close to dropping them and giving up on his dream but his friends had encouraged him to keep up with it and some tutoring sessions with Danny and Lydia had seen him keeping on top of everything in no time. Lately he had been flying solo when it came to studying, able to stand on his own two feet now he knew that he was capable of doing it, and he knew that he couldn’t afford to fall behind now because of one attack. He would only end up missing about a week of school but that could still do pretty big damage to his grades and that was something that he wasn’t prepared to let happen after all of the hard work that he had put in. Danny had been over a couple of times already to hand over assignments and go through things with him that he wasn’t sure about but now it was Lydia’s turn. Scott had never liked feeling like he was a burden but he certainly felt like that now and he knew that he just had to remember that it wouldn’t be for too much longer. Getting up to open the door, Scott felt a smile work its way across his face at Lydia’s words. “Not too much according to my mom and Bonnie but I can trust you to keep a secret, right?” he asked, already knowing what the answer was. Neither of them liked leaving him at home on his own but his mom had to work and Bonnie had school so it was one of those things. He really wasn’t meant to be moving around too much but he still did when he was alone as he knew that the sooner he was back on his feet the better. He knew that it wouldn’t be a good idea to overexert himself too much though so he was trying to take it easy for the most part. “I’ll hold you to that,” he said, closing the door behind her before letting his expression turn thoughtful for a moment. “Sofa. I wouldn’t be able to get comfortable at the table,” he admitted, hating the words even as they left his mouth. This wasn’t him, he wasn’t used to anything getting him down but he knew his limits and he knew better than to push his luck right now. “If that works for you,” he added, knowing that if Lydia would rather work at the table then he would figure something out. | It was only when Lydia had arrived at Scott’s house that she realised that she really should have called first. Perhaps let herself in, had he known she was going to be there soon. Considering his near-death experience, she didn’t think he should be walking. She mentioned this albeit a little late as he had already answered the door, ” Well… I’m no nurse so don’t break any stitches…” Lydia told him thoughtfully also her trying to interject some humour into what was a dire situation, ” Math genius, yes. Nurse no.” Lydia confirmed as she stepped into the house being careful not to bump into him as she stepped through the doorway.
Once inside she promised to get him back up to speed. She remembered that his grades hadn’t been the best back in Beacon Hills. At one point had to pull them back up. She had helped then too. She promised by the end of this it would be like he hadn’t had any time off. When she asked where he would rather work, he mentioned the couch. Lydia didn’t say anything, ” Alright but solid attention span please.” Lydia conceded as she turned to head to the living room where the comfortable couch awaited with the books awaiting on the table.
Lydia made herself comfortable on an armchair and left him to get comfortable on the couch. She got out her own books and her own notes and one topic after another she got him caught up. He kept up reasonably well, and she kept her promise on catching him back up. Enough that he would pass his finals. Finishing off their calculus session she closed her book, ” What’s the limit?” Lydia asked in regards to the equation they had just been working on.

Scott’s mom had made him promise that he would take the week off school so that he could focus on recovering from the attack but that didn’t mean that he was going to let himself fall behind. There was a time when he had been happy just scraping by in his classes but after realising that he wanted to become a vet he had known that he was going to have to put the work in and get his grades up to make it happen and he had been doing his best to do just that. It wasn’t easy knowing that Whitmore didn’t offer the course that he wanted to take since following his dream would mean having to leave behind his mom, Bonnie and all of his friends but he still hadn’t given up hope that things would change and he would be able to get to do what he wanted to. He wasn’t sure how likely it was and he had received offers for other schools but he wasn’t sure that he could leave everyone he cared about behind if it came down to it. Instead he knew that he could always do a different course and go to Whitmore with everyone else and if he had to then he was pretty sure that that was the decision he would make. Right now he just wanted to get through the rest of his senior year in one piece and that meant making sure that he didn’t fall behind and end up failing all of his exams. “I’ll try not to,” Scott said, a smile working its way across his face as he looked over at Lydia. Between her and Danny he was pretty sure that they weren’t going to let him fall behind in his schoolwork and he really was grateful to both of them for that. He didn’t like being a burden on his friends but he knew that he wanted to have the chance to graduate with the rest of them as well so he had known that he’d had to accept their offer of help this time. The table was probably the better place to study but he knew that he needed to make sure that he stayed comfortable so the sofa was the best place for it. “Deal,” he nodded as Lydia said that she wanted a solid attention span from him. “Don’t worry, I don’t plan on falling behind.” He had worked too hard to get his grades back up in the first place so he knew that he wasn’t going to backtrack now. They worked through topic after topic and as they came to the end of the last one and Lydia asked what the limit was, he showed her his working which he hoped that he had managed to get right. “Is that it?” he asked, hoping that it was. | Given graduation was right around the corner now wasn’t the time to be missing out on school. Lydia wasn’t exactly worried about her own grades, but she was concerned that after the attack Scott would fall behind. She was one of the lucky few where she was academically excellent. Once she wouldn’t let anyone on. Turned out her new group of friends knew it about her and her façade that she once showed the world. Now she didn’t bother, she was smart, and she embraced it.
Though after everything that they had been through she was going to make damn sure they were all there on that day receiving their diploma’s and graduating. If she got Allison caught up after missing a full year, then she could catch Scott up after missing a few weeks. Once she arrived at his house she asked where he wanted to work. When she studied, she liked to be at a desk, somewhere uncomfortable so you had incentive to study and move on. When Scott mentioned the couch, she conceded as he wasn’t feeling well but reminded him that she wanted nothing less than laser focus.
She smiled at him when he agreed to her deal, ” We have all gone through far too much to not get out of high school when its right around the corner.” Lydia told him as she set up their studying session making sure he had everything he needed, ” Between Danny and I, we won’t let you.” Lydia told him honestly.
Hours passed and they went through topic after topic, making sure he was ready for any pop quizzes or make up tests his teachers might decide to dump on him when he got back to school. Last topic being maths she asked him to work out the last problem and after a moment or so he revealed his answer including how he came to that conclusion. She took his book from him and her eyes glanced over it in seconds, ” Correct.” Lydia smiled handing him back his book. Lydia sighed a little content and happy with what they had got done, ” Well I think my work here is done!” Lydia announced as they had gotten through a lot of what they had learned so far this week.

Scott had been doing so much over the last couple of years to get his grades up and make sure that he did well enough to be able to study veterinary medicine at college so the last thing he needed was to end up missing school now but thankfully he had good friends who could make sure that he didn’t end up falling behind. His friends were all in the same boat, they all had graduation coming up and he knew that he wanted them all to get through it together the same way they did everything else. Danny and Lydia had been great at making sure that he didn’t fall behind and he knew that he was never going to be able to thank them enough for that. That day it was Lydia’s turn to help him catch up with everything from that day and he hoped that he would be able to get it. Working with Deaton had made him realise that becoming a vet was what he wanted to do with his life and it had been worth the hard work to get this far so he knew that he wasn’t going to let the wolves who wanted to impress Klaus take that away from him. He had tried telling his mom that he could go back to school but she had insisted that he take the time off to heal and if he was honest he was glad about that. He could have spun everyone a story about how he had gotten hurt but the truth was that it just wasn’t worth the hassle and Scott couldn’t deny that having some time to rest was doing him some good. It was much more comfortable being at home than it was at school so he knew that he was going to have to thank his mom for making that choice for him. He had seen how worried she was when Bonnie had helped him home and he had known that the last thing he’d wanted to do was to worry her anymore than he already had done. “I’m lucky to have the two of you,” Scott admitted. His friends had always been there for him when he had needed them and they certainly seemed to be rallying around him now. Scott had never liked worrying his friends and he was still used to helping them rather than it being the other way around but at least this time they weren’t putting themselves in danger. Working through everything that Lydia had brought with her wasn’t easy but she was a good teacher and finally he seemed to have made it to the end of the work. “You are a life saver, thank you,” he said, a smile forming on his face as he looked over at his friend. It was so important to him that he was able to graduate with all of his friends and Scott knew that he wouldn’t have been able to do that without them. “How would you feel about take out as a thank you?” he asked, knowing that there were plenty of menus in the drawers. | Coming to Mystic Falls was much like being in Beacon Hills. Supernatural seemed to flock here just as they had been lured to Beacon Hills. Things had seemed calm until their pack alpha Scott had been attacked by a group of rogue wolves. At least that is what Stiles had told her. Because of that he had missed a lot of school and with final’s right around the corner she didn’t want any of them falling behind. They were all going to graduate high school… together. She had caught Allison back up when she had come back from the dead… she was positive she could catch Scott back up on all the assignments and material he had missed while he recovered from his wounds.
Taking it easy while they studied on the couch and appreciated his attention throughout it all. They got through it all quickly, and she asked the last question. When he got it right. She felt relieved, ” Well you’ll be graduating even if it kills me. No one can fail we are too close. And you’ll be fine… you’ve got this.” Lydia promised instilling confidence in him as he was due to return to school any day now.
With everything done she started to pack her study books away. Slipping them all neatly into her bag and flipping the cover and clipping the bag closed as he commented that she was a life saver, ” Anytime. Got to contribute somehow beyond just finding the bodies…” Lydia commented with a small smile. That was all she has come over for so she was expecting just to simply head home. Then he invited her to stay for some take out.
She contemplated it for a moment. Take out with a friend… or dinner alone at home with Prada? It was a no brainer, ” Sure why not?” Lydia responded as she lifted her shoulder bag back down to the floor, ” What do you fancy?” She asked.

Scott had known that following Allison across the country while she was being possessed by a demon was a risky move but he had known that he couldn’t just let her carry on being used like that. Losing her had hurt them all so much and even though they had all known that it wasn’t really Allison, that the demon was using her like a puppet, it had still been her body and Scott had known that even if all they could do was lay her to rest once more then that was what they were going to have to do. He hadn’t expected any of his friends to follow him and he never would have forced them to do so, he had left the decision up to them all but he couldn’t deny that he was glad that Stiles, Lydia and Danny had stayed with him. Starting over with his friends around him wasn’t anywhere near as bad as it would have been if he’d had to start over alone and over time more of their friends had decided to join them as well. They had built a life for themselves in Mystic Falls and even though they all still faced danger he knew that they could get through anything as long as they had each other. The way that his friends had rallied around him after he was attacked was proof enough of that. He hadn’t wanted to worry them but he had known that he couldn’t keep the truth from them either. They had all been through so much and he was used to being the one that worried about others rather than the other way around but this time it couldn’t be helped. He had promised his mom that he would take the week off school to recover and eh was keeping his word but thankfully he had Danny and Lydia to help him keep on top of his school work so that he didn’t fall behind. “We’ll all be walking across that stage together, don’t worry,” Scott assured her, knowing that they had been through too much to let anything derail that now. As Lydia spoke again, Scott nudged her arm gently with his own. “You do more than that and you know it,” he assured her. They all played their part and he knew that that wasn’t going to change. Eating alone wasn’t something that Scott had really wanted to do so he was glad when Lydia agreed to join him. “I don’t know about you but I haven’t had Chinese for a while, what do you think?” he asked, knowing that if Lydia wanted something else then he would be more than happy to go along with that instead.
