━ like sisyphus pushing that rock uphill ━ LAWRENCE WAS A LITTLE FUCKIN’ WEIRD without his emotions, but more fun. He didn’t know how Lawrence even dealt with an emotionless Remzi, though, ‘cause he was pretty sure he’d been ten times worse. Or maybe he just always thought Lawrence was a bit of a p-ssy, emotions or not.
Anyway, at least Remzi didn’t have to listen to Lawrence’s moral fuckin’ dilemma on the way to the college party. ‘Wah, Remzi, we look too old, blah blah.’ Yeah, maybe Remzi looked a little seasoned, but Lawrence had that baby face that’d ensure nobody batted a fucking eye.
He drained some skinny chick in a dark corner outside━where he could almost feel the music pumping through the brick wall━and was left unsatisfied.
Returning tot he room (with his mouth wiped clean), Remzi found his next meal. Lawrence had fucked off to God-knows-where, so Remzi let this chubby girl take him to her apartment on campus. She was a great f-ck, but that didn’t save her life.
He also debated selling Manny’s product here, but it’d likely kill all these fucking humans, and that shit would definitely come back to bite him in the ass. He didn’t bother returning after, just left the fat bitch in her bed and started on his way home. He didn’t text Lawrence, either, ‘cause he knew the other vampire wouldn’t care. Wasn’t like he had to ‘check in,’ either━he wasn’t some little bitch.
Just before he vanished in a blur, Remzi heard a scream come from outside the building, and he puffed out an irritated breath. Great, his “snack” had been found already. Remzi rolled his eyes and quickened his pace, nearly on the road to town when…
Where the fuck did this dude come from?
“I know it was you.” He said, obviously pissed. “I know you killed her, bloodsucker.”
Remzi lifted his brows and scoffed. “Yo, don’t hate the player, hate the game, man.” He’d survived an old-ass vamp almost tearing his guts out of his body, why the fuck would he be scared of some human━
He sputtered as the sound rang through his ears, an equally-sharp pain exploding in his chest. “What the fu…” He raised a hand and pressed it to his sternum, then pulled it back to reveal his blood-soaked palm. How the fuck did that happen? Why wasn’t he healing?
Remzi guessed he should’ve felt lucky that this dude was a terrible fucking shot. One more bullet hit him in the ribs before he darted forward and snapped the dude’s neck, then left in a streak of shadow.
He only got a few miles down the road, into the woods, before he couldn’t go farther. Remzi dropped to his knees and pressed his hand to his chest again, then groaned in pain. His mouth felt so fucking wet. Was he drooling? Was he that fucked already? Remzi spat, and even in the darkness, he could see it was blood.
Shit. He was fucked, but not in a fun way. He could feel the dread creeping in, the wrongness clouding his body and mind, and he knew he was in deep shit. It felt like the last few moments before he’d gone unconcious━before he woke up in a hospital bed with his mom at his side.
Remzi reached back and pulled his phone from his pocket, leaving bloody streaks all over the screen as he went to his call list. Leah would probably stand over him and watch him die, laughing while she did. He couldn’t call Raik, he wouldn’t get here in time. Ayla… she’d probably just cry and not do shit about it, and he couldn’t see her being any faster than his brother. And Lawrence just wouldn’t give enough of a fuck.
Fuck. He was outta options. If he could bet on anyone, it’d have to be Leah. He pressed her name, then fumbled, watching the phone slide out of his hand. Remzi wheezed, falling to his elbow, then slowly rolling over onto his back. When he picked up his phone again, he realized it hadn’t followed direction, and he pressed her name three times before it finally began calling, nearly shattering the glass with the force of his push━with his desperation.
He was surprised she even picked up. Maybe she didn’t see his name come up. “Leah,” He choked, then quickly realized that laying on his back was probably the worst idea he’d ever had. Blood spattered out of his mouth and into the air, and he coughed, rolling onto his side again. “Leah… ‘m… woods outside W-Whitmore. Fuck, I’m━” He said her name like he was begging, like a prayer━as if Leah was the Angel that’d show up and save him. She was the opposite most of the time, but he was putting all his faith in her now.
“I’m dying.” He wheezed again, emotions rushing over him as he finally came to grips with his reality. If she didn’t help him, he wouldn’t live to see tomorrow. He wouldn’t ever see his brother again, or his mom or dad. And despite the fact that he’d watched his brother come back from the dead, death still terrified him like it would’ve when he was a human.
Remzi tried to claw at his composure to keep it firmly wrapped around him, but in his mind, he was calling for his mom. Anne, Anne, Anne…

To begin with she didn’t give a shit about this stupid virus that was ripping through Mystic Falls, but it was affecting the free time she had to get her hair and nails done. It was the second week in a row she had to cancel her appointment because work was non stop. There wouldn’t be a third though because Death could get fucked if he thought she was going another week with grown out nails. It was very unlikely he’d pipe up anyway. He’d been MIA since everything had kicked off in Mystic Falls, leaving his little bitches to mop everything up. Leah lingered at the end of the bar in Campbells Bar, studying her nails, waiting for the man she’d been flirting with all night to buy her a drink. He was talking to her, but she didn’t give a shit about what was coming out his mouth. Every few words registered with her. Something about passing through town on his way to some conference out in Charlotte. Riveting. Where she wanted to be was the Emerald City, but what if Remzi was there too? She didn’t feel like facing him tonight, knowing that it would completely ruin her evening. One glimpse of him would send her into a pit of sadness. It was becoming harder and harder to climb out of that pit each time she saw him. His presence stirred up those happy memories, reminding her what she had with him. A fucked up relationship that no one else could understand apart from them two. A relationship that weirdly made her happy, despite the word alone making her want to gag. She knocked back the drink as soon as it was placed on the bar before walking off towards the exit. In the distance she could hear the man asking her where the fuck she was going, but he was met with the middle finger from Leah. She’d come to realise lately that the hole left in her heart by Remzi wasn’t going to be healed by jumping in bed with random men so why bother listening to this one chat shit all night. She stepped out of the bar and a few seconds later she was back in her apartment, throwing herself down on her bed. There was no part of her that missed living with Hannya, but she missed the company. Coming home to an empty apartment added to the loneliness that sat inside of her. The place was virtually silent and the left side of her bed was constantly cold. Shame Damien couldn’t let her stay with him, but apparently Aurora was more important. Leah didn’t dig her heels in too deeply with that one. She packed her bags, left Mystic Falls and found somewhere in Richmond. The place had more life to it than Mystic Falls, yet despite putting distance between herself and that shitty small town she was constantly going back there. She slipped out of her party clothes (which was a wasted outfit since she was out for five minutes) and back into something more comfortable. She had hoped back moving away from Mystic Falls too there would be less call outs for her. Let the jobs go to the rest of them. As she pulled her fake eyelashes from her face her phone buzzed across the dressing room table. Her heart dropped through the fucking floor when she saw Remzi’s name flash up on her phone. Leah let it ring for a second before grabbing the phone and sliding the button across the screen. Panic set in when she heard him coughing through the phone along with the desperation in his voice. “I’m coming.” There was no hesitation. She grabbed her coat off the couch and disappeared out of the apartment. Leah reappeared in the woods, a few steps away from Remzi who was lying on the floor, coughing up blood everywhere. “Jesus. What the hell happened?” She rushed to his side, kneeling down beside him as she rolled him on his back, “Why the fuck ain’t you healing Remzi?” Fear crept into her voice as she spoke. She ripped his top open, exposing the wound in his chest. “Who shot you?” Leah pulled her jumper off, immediately feeling the freezing air on her skin but whatever it wasn’t like she could die of hypothermia. She pressed the jumper down on his chest, “You ain’t gonna die. I won’t fucking let you.” Because one day in the very distant future she was hoping their paths would cross again. A time where they were living their lives without Hannya and Ayla because maybe then there’d be a chance of reconciliation. An opportunity to try again. REMZI DURMAZ

━ like sisyphus pushing that rock uphill ━ REMZI SAW HIS MOM’S FACE IN HIS MIND. IT WAS so clear, too. After a second, he realized it was ‘cause he was picturing her the first time he woke up in the hospital after his OD. She looked so worried, like she hadn’t slept or eaten in days, and her hand was clutching his as if she herself would pull him out of Allah’s grip. Wait, would Allah even claim him if he’d died from dr*gs? Would He claim Remzi if he was a vampire? Probs not. Shit, what about his seventy-two virgins? God damn it. He was gonna die and he had fuck all to look forward to.
Anne, seni seviyorum. Ben çok özür dilerim. He whispered to her, and he could only see her face fill with disappointment, hopelessness, with more tears bleeding down her cheeks as she sobbed.
He didn’t remember that he’d heard Leah’s voice or the relief he’d felt when she said she was coming, not as he began to slip into a spot where the pain wasn’t so bad anymore.
But then hands were jolting him conscious again, rolling Remzi onto his back and striking blinding pain through his body. Her words didn’t filter through his brain until a few seconds later, after he’d groaned and puffed out a breath. “Fuckin’... college party. Hunter.” He grumbled, finding her face despite his hazy vision. He tried to blink it clear, and he wondered if the halo around her face was natural or not. She really was his fucking Angel. “Wooden… bullets.” He coughed up another mouthful of blood, and weakly turned to spit it on the ground beside him, though he didn’t quite make it, and left blood streaking across his cheek.
“Feel like it.” Remzi whispered, blue eyes slowly finding hers in the darkness again. “Feels worse than before…” Before, he’d slipped under and didn’t experience any of it. All he had was other people’s recollections of what happened, but Remzi couldn’t remember. Slowly, he dragged his hands up and found hers, trying to squeeze them gently. “Please,” Remzi whimpered, still trying to fight with the little that was left in him, “Please don’t let… me die. I don’t wanna go.” He couldn’t. It wasn’t supposed to fucking be like this.

Leah was desperately clinging onto hope for her and Remzi because who else was going to accept her for who she was? No one. He was the first man to come into her life who didn’t try to force her to be someone different. He was also the first man who stirred genuine happiness inside of her, the first man to make her laugh until she cried, the first man to make her feel weak in the knees. Leah couldn’t imagine feeling those things again with someone else. No one was going to make her feel the way she did with him, even if sometimes he filled her with jealousy and rage by wrapping his limbs around another woman. Now she was terrified she was about to lose him. It wasn’t only the act of losing him that was scaring her, but how was going to cope without him in her life. He’d become embedded in every aspect of her life that she couldn’t imagine existing without him, even if they weren’t existing together. Separate lives on opposite sides of the world. She didn’t want him to be gone forever. Leah bit back her irritation as he explained what happened. “I told you not to fuck with the hunters.” She brought her hand up, wiping away the blood from his cheek, leaving her hand on there as she stroked his skin softly. His hand clutched around hers. Hopefully he couldn’t see the glint of tears forming in her eyes in the darkness. “I’m not gonna let you die. I promise.” Leah swallowed back feelings as she pulled her hand away from his. Her mind slotted into survival mode. “Right.” She ripped back the jumper, glancing down at his chest where the blood was seeping out rapidly, “I think the bullet is grazing on your heart so I need to get it out.” It wouldn’t have been the first time she’d rammed her hand into Remzi’s chest, “Try and stay still.” With one hand she pressed down on Remzi’s chest, trying to keep him steady, as the other plunged into his chest. It was always such a gross feeling having your hand inside someone’s chest. Within seconds Leah found the bullet, she slowly removed her hand, clutching onto the bullet. Once it was out of his body she tossed the bullet aside. “Here.” She hovered her wrist over Remzi’s mouth, “You need blood.” REMZI DURMAZ

━ like sisyphus pushing that rock uphill ━ LEAH COULD’VE SAID ANYTHING TO HIM. SHE could’ve told Remzi that he was on his own, that she didn’t give a shit about him anymore and he should go crying to someone else, but she didn’t. She held his hands and promised Remzi that he wouldn’t die. He’d see his mom again, his brother━she would save him. She’d stabbed him in the back and cast him out of her life, but she wouldn’t leave him here to die.
When her hands slipped from his, Remzi desperately tried to find her again, though his movements were slow, fingers slipping across the fabric of his sweater, searching for the feeling of her skin instead.
Eventually, she gave him her hands again, but instead of holding his, she pressed into his chest. Somehow, Remzi was too numb to feel any more pain, and he sucked in a tight breath through his teeth, blue eyes slowly trailing up to find her face. She still looked like she was cast in golden light, and he blinked twice slowly, trying to clear the fuzziness in his vision.
He didn’t hear what she was going to do until she was already doing it, and Remzi was seizing up, trying to heed her warning by staying still, though he felt terrible and uncomfortable.
In a matter of moments, it was gone, but he didn’t feel entirely healed. Why wasn’t he healing? She got the bullet out, wasn’t he supposed to be okay now?
Remzi focused on her face again, seeing her wrist slide into his vision, her commands penetrating a little faster now. He didn’t get it, though━she wanted him to bite her? Since when? Leah would never willingly…
Between them, it always seemed like, if they were on fire, they wouldn’t piss on the other to put them out. Remzi had drained her when he had no emotions, but that wasn’t something he’d ever do in his right mind. And here she was, fucking offering it to him.
His eyes fell to her wrist, and he could hear her blood pumping beneath the skin, but he managed to find her eyes again━one last check to make sure this was okay━his own filled with darkness as veins crawled beneath them. Remzi only hesitated for a moment longer before plunging his fangs into her skin, and, after a second, he had the strength to lift his hands and keep her wrist pressed to his mouth.
Somehow, he managed to control himself━which only seemed possible with Leah━and stopped himself before he took too much. Remzi let go of her wrist, and when he looked at Leah again, he felt so many fucking emotions overcome him. Too many. He couldn't believe she was here, that she’d come to save him, and she’d given up her blood for him.
Maybe he should’ve thanked her. He wanted to. He wanted to say something, but he knew that the moment he opened his mouth, he might cry or say something really fucking stupid, and he didn’t want to risk it. So instead, Remzi folded onto his side, his arms curling around her waist like he needed her, like he couldn’t do anything else before he held her. He felt like a fucking baby, but it didn’t matter. Not with them. If it did, she wouldn’t have come here for him.

To everyone else Leah and Remzi’s relationship didn’t make sense. Why were these two people so drawn to each other when their only aim was to bring jealousy and anger to the surface. Both of them craved a chaotic situation that only the other could provide. But no one saw them behind closed doors, in those rare moments where their masks started to slip, revealing their true emotions. But Leah had placed those walls back up once her and Remzi had come to an end, until tonight. She was so scared of losing him that the walls came crashing down around her. Whatever hatred she had been feeling towards him disappeared. All she could focus on was saving Remzi. Remzi never hesitated when it came to feeding, but it was clear he was holding back with Leah. She didn’t even care if he drained right there. She’d bounce back in a few minutes. “Please.” She whispered quietly, edging her wrist towards his mouth again. Leah waited to start feeling lightheaded, then to be temporarily plunged into the darkness, but not of that came. Remzi ripped out his teeth before it reached that stage. She didn’t pull her arm away though. She rested her hand on his face gently, one thumb stroking his cheek. There were so many fucking things she wanted to say to him. The top of that list was an apology, but her pride forced her to swallow it back. She pressed her lips together, sealing the words inside her mouth because knew if she started talking all of her feelings would come spilling out. Her mind was tired of trying to convince herself she felt nothing towards him. Remzi didn’t speak either though. Instead he slipped his hands around her waist, drawing her in for a hug. Fuck. It was really testing her ability to bite back the tears. But she failed. With his head resting in his lap hot tears came streaming down her face. After everything that had happened between them Remzi still picked up the phone and called her in his time of need. Leah didn’t believe in soulmates because the fuck idea you’re only destining to be with one person but there was something in the universe that had driven her and Remzi together. He had her reconsidering everything she believed about relationships. Even if he wasn’t her soulmate, she knew Remzi was the closest she’d get to that. REMZI DURMAZ - the end!
