Teddy’s offer to contact Lawrence’s parents was hanging over him, but he wasn’t sure if he could handle what they had to say for themselves. It wasn’t like the idea hadn’t popped into his head prior to that either. Each time he convinced himself it was a bad idea. The main reason he flipped the switch in the first place was because his parents abandoned him. The chances of that happening again were low since he had Phoebe and Teddy in his life now. He didn’t feel completely alone.
Everything wasn’t completely above board though. Despite talking through everything with Teddy, he still couldn’t shake the feeling he was forgetting something important and he was convinced it was something to do with the museum in town. Despite going back time and time again nothing was really jogging his memory. Then there was the twenty four hour coffee shop. Some evenings he would sit in there for a few hours, like he was waiting for someone to turn up, but who was going to join him for coffee at 1am?
Friday evening rolled around and by a stroke of good luck he wasn’t due to work. It was a relief to get away from the bar too since things were getting a little peculiar there. Vampires were bringing humans downstairs to kill them and Hector wasn’t batting an eyelid to it.
It was tempting to drag himself to the coffee shop, but he was beginning to think it was pointless. Whatever he was forgetting would come to him, eventually. Instead he dragged himself out to the Salvatore School after receiving a message there was a party going on in the woods. Usually he’d say no to a party at the school since the place just reminded him he’d completely failed to stick to an all animal diet, no thanks to Hannya. The bitch practically waved blood in front of his face until he caved.
The party was in full swing by the time Lawrence arrived, clutching onto his bottle of whiskey he’d managed to steal from the stockroom at work. He’d replace it in a few weeks. His eyes scanned the area quickly. So many unfamiliar faces, but he spotted a girl sitting alone on a wall. Maybe she didn’t know anyone either, waiting for someone to approach her. Lawrence could be that person. He perched on the wall next to her, titling his bottle of whiskey towards her, “Would you like some whiskey?” He couldn’t offer her any mixer, just straight whiskey out the bottle, “You new here?” Speaking like he was a student at the school.
