DEJA VU (WITH HECTOR DACRE)
It would take time for him to once again find his groove in this town. It was hardly his first choice for re-establishing the Strix on the East Coast but it was a strategic one. His connections here ran the deepest and he wasn't about to just let that pass him on by. He had chosen Mystic Falls not for its wealth of resources but for its ability to give him something he had craved for centuries.
Revenge.
First, Tristan needed to think beyond his own needs and see to that of his sister's. He had left her in the wild, sort of speak, for longer than he would have liked and it seemed to him that she had strayed into things that might become triggers down the road. Her mental health was important to him (even more so than the Strix but he would never say that aloud, nor led anyone question him on such things). Now that he was back he would personally ensure that her choices had been sound ones.
Which was what led him to this place.
Tristan stood in the middle of the club, his nose turned up as he took in his surroundings. He knew what this was meant to be and there was even a part of him that approved of such things. But still? The execution was far from his tastes. His preferences were muted, subtle --- they said a lot without being flashy. He was sure that whoever had thrown this together (for it did have an air of slapping together cardboard and hoping for the best to him) was trying something. He just wasn't sure what that might be. Nor did he truly care.
He had already found an underling and told them to fetch their boss. He made it clear in his tone of voice that there was no arguing with him. He would wait all day if he had to. As it was, he waited a few beats longer than he wanted to and therefore was cross when he finally heard the directed footsteps of who he assumed was in charge.
Tristan turned. "I do not like to be kept waiting..." Whatever else he was going to say died on his tongue and he couldn't help but chuckle mirthlessly. "My, my, what a small world."

At the time joining the Strix didn’t seem like a bad idea. After all, Hector was feeling a little lost in the world after parting ways with his sire so when he heard rumors of a group of vampires congregating in Greece during the fourteen hundreds, he jumped at the idea of joining them. Elijah welcomed him into the group until he jumped ship leaving Tristan in charge. Hector slipped away eventually, realising he wasn’t the type of person to be told what to do. He was a leader, not a lackey. He wanted to be at the top of the hierarchy, but he stood no chance against Tristan so he branched off and set his sights on the seas. It was there that he was at the top of the hierarchy, with a savage crew of supernaturals behind him, ready to defend their captain. It was impossible to make the same type of impact in Mystic Falls with the Mikaelsons roaming around though. Thankfully only one of them had ventured into his club, threatening to bring the building down rumble because he’d let her underage daughter in, even though he wasn’t the one to man the door. In an ideal world, he would ban the entire family from the club, especially Klaus and Kol since they wouldn’t follow his rules. Lawrence came rushing downstairs to say to tell Hector there was a man upstairs who wanted to speak with him, wearing a crisp suit. Hopefully, it wasn’t one of those potential investors that sometimes trickled through the door. Luc was the only one with the privilege of that. Everyone else put their checkbook away. He resisted the urge to sigh heavily when Tristan turned around to face him. He finally decided to join his sister in town. The untouchable Aurora. “It appears every single vampire known to man is in Mystic Falls.” So far only friends had arrived in town, but it wouldn’t be long before his enemies started appearing too. “How can I help you?” He rocked back on the heel of his shoes slightly, pushing his hands into his trouser pocket. Surely nothing good would come of this conversation, assuming Tristan hadn’t come in here for a catch-up with Hector. TRISTAN DE MARTEL

DEJA VU (WITH HECTOR DACRE)
Hector was displeased to see him. Good. He should be. It meant that what Tristan said and did still carried weight with Hector. Although he had not expected this moment to happen in this fashion, Tristan knew one day that their paths would cross again. As vast as the world seemed, it was surprisingly small for men like them. It was only a matter time.
He looked at his surroundings in a new light, knowing now who had put it together. His face remained in the same passive state he had learned to keep it in but he couldn't help but be marginally impressed. Hector had potential, Tristan would never deny that. But he was also a coward who couldn't stick around when he wasn't given what he wanted. His loyalty was non-existent --- yet no doubt he expected loyalty from those who were around him.
Tristan took a deep breath and then nodded his head. "Yes, it does appear that way, now doesn't it? Such a strange place to congregate. Hardly even on the map yet so many of us have flocked here." It did beg the question as to why? Tristan knew the answer for him. It was the Mikaelsons. It came down to a centuries' old grudge that he felt the need to finally end. And the Mikaelsons were here because they were born and bled on this land. They became the monsters that they are today on this land. Maybe that was it. Maybe that was what drew so many other vampires. This was the land of their mythical beginnings.
He didn't share these thoughts with Hector. Mostly because he didn't believe Hector was worth his time. However, circumstance had put them in a room together and there was no ignoring that. "Aurora," he began, answering the question that Hector had put forth. "My sister has spent time in this place. I would question her taste but I do believe she is making up for lost time." Aurora had missed out on a great many things due to her illness. It was no wonder she wanted to experience everything all at once. "I would like to understand what she has done here. I aim to keep a close eye on here to ensure that she remains in good spirits."

Technically speaking he never renounced his membership with the Strix, but he liked to put distance between himself and the group. He’d heard of the awful things they had done over the centuries, but it wasn’t as if he’d been any better. Hector and his crew had been just as savage in the past but he’d since taken a page of Magnus’ book and tried to calm down a little bit. No more bloodshed and violence, unless absolutely necessary. Many vampires he had encountered over the years knew about Mystic Falls. A place which was full of the supernatural, somewhere he could slot in easily. So the name stuck in his mind throughout the years until recently when he decided to head straight to Virginia to check the place out. He needed somewhere to lie low for a few decades until the wanted posters of him back in New York had been well and truly destroyed. It wouldn’t have been a problem if he aged like every day else. “Word of mouth… it’s a pleasant little town. Hardly any trouble here.” There was a twitch of a smirk on his face. If the place was really as boring and quaint as everyone believed Hector would have been long gone years ago. It was all just a fake front as to what actually happened in Mystic Falls. And there it was. He was here to ask questions about his sister. Hector wasn’t dumb enough to lay his hands on her, no matter how beautiful and captivating she was. He preferred his heart to remain in his chest rather than to be yanked out by Tristan. “I’ve only seen her in here a few times drinking a glass of wine.” Or directly from the vein of a human nearby on Halloween. He’d spotted Aurora with her hands snaked around Damien on more than one occasion, and even though the reapers had a tendency to get under his skin, he wasn’t about to throw one into Tristan’s path. The other vampire would be looking to display Damien's head on a stick for even looking at Aurora. “She seems to have befriended a younger vampire. Rose. She seems pleasant… other than that nothing else to report on.” Back in the fourteen hundreds he probably would have told Tristan everything in an attempt to keep his place in the Strix, but not anymore. DEJA VU (WITH HECTOR DACRE)
There was a quirk of his lips, the barest hint of amusement at Hector's choice of words. He supposed to many it seemed that way --- a quiet town, tucked in the middle of nowhere. No trouble to be seen. "I wonder how long that holds. The hardly any trouble part that is. Past experience has shown me that when you put this many egos in one place, bloodshed will follow." It certainly would if he had his way. Tristan was coming from the throats of the people who had wronged him and those he chose to love. Literally. He had played cat and mouse with them (with the whole world) for decades. He was done with that. His patience had been worn thin enough at this point.
Time for action instead of talk.
He considered it fortuitous that Hector was here as well. His bloodlust might not extend that far but maybe he could twist a screw or two in the process. After all, he did not take abandonment lightly. To pledge allegiance to the Strix was to sign one's life over to it. Hector apparently thought that meant he could come and go when he pleased.
He listened to the report that Hector dutifully gave out. Wine and companionship with a younger vampire? Hardly noteworthy. He figured that the younger vampire was giving him just enough to sate his appetite. Hector probably hoped that he would go away happy with what he had been told. "A bit underwhelming and hardly in character for my sister. I feel as if she would like to celebrate her recovery. Celebrating in mind usually involves blood, companionship." He knew that the mongrel Original was in town as well. "What about Klaus Mikaelson? Has you seen the pair of them anywhere near each other? And not just in this...thing you call an establishment?" He stepped closer to the wayward Strix member. "I know you, Hector. I know you like to keep your ear to the ground. It is a very useful skill if you are putting it towards the right cause, of course." The implication was clear and he knew Hector was smart enough to understand what he was saying. "In this case, I guess you could do a favor for an old friend and tell me what you really know."

He already had the cops and a member of the Mikaelson clan sniffing around the bar. He didn’t need Tristan De Martel thrown into that mix because it would be proven to be deadly. Those fighting egos would come to a boil soon enough and Hector knew against the De Martels and the Mikaelsons, he would fail, which was a feeling he did deal with all that often. He didn’t cope well with failure, so he needed to disperse these egos away from him and away from his bar. “We try to keep bloodshed to a minimum. We don’t want the locals getting suspicious.” His roots had dug deep into Mystic Falls, so it wouldn’t be easy for him to up and leave if the authorities came knocking. It wasn’t like New York where he had built a life for himself using a fake alias, and all those friendships he formed was fake. He watched Tristan with a careful eye, almost bracing himself for some kind of attack. Violence was a language Tristan was fluent in and if he wasn’t getting viable information from Hector, he would be happy to display a level of violence. Hector had witnessed it happen to many men centuries back. To no surprise, he didn’t fully buy Hector’s report. “She may have indulged in a snack every now and then downstairs, but no companionship that I'm aware of.” He didn’t have a clue what Aurora and Damien referred to themselves as. A couple or just a bit of fun? He didn’t care enough to ask. “No sign of Klaus.” He hadn’t even laid eyes on the original vampire since arriving in Mystic Falls, which is how he intended to keep it. Klaus would bring nothing but trouble to the bar and if that happened, Hector wouldn’t even have the strength to keep him under control. He didn’t step back from Tristan, he remained glued to the spot. “I’ve told you everything I know. Your sister comes in here sometimes for a drink and I haven’t seen her or Klaus together, whether it be in here or out there.” He nodded towards the door of the club. TRISTAN DE MARTEL

DEJA VU (WITH HECTOR DACRE)
"Smart. We wouldn't want to the cattle to become too restless," Tristan commented wryly. He paid human little mind beyond their use as food. Sure, there had been some throughout the annals of history that managed to catch his attention but they were the exception not the rule. For the most part, the human race was a mass of stupidity bumping into one another. Hector was a clever one. Tristan was sure that he had figured out ways to ensure that they had no idea what truly went on inside of these walls. He was willing to bet that any rumors were promptly dealt with before they had chance to take flight. "But then again, you have always been a clever one. Shame about the loyalty."
He liked Hector. That was the truth. The man was intelligent, resourceful and knew how to play both those qualities to main his advantage. But he also turned his back on the Strix. Hardly something that could be simply overlooked. He might have been willing to overlook stepping out of line once or some other minor infraction but Hector had abandoned them.
Therefore all his worth was negated.
He suspected that Hector was telling the truth about his sister and Klaus. It seemed to back up what Aurora had told him in the first place. Maybe she truly had seen past that monster. Which left him with a puzzling question to consider. If not Klaus, than who? Because he knew Aurora, sometimes he thought even better than she knew herself. If she was not pining for Klaus than there had to be someone else. That was a string he had to pull on immediately to ensure that any damage could be undone before it even happened.
Tristan followed Hector's cause and then chuckled. "I get the feeling that I am not welcome here. That does not hurt my feelings. I fail to see the true appeal of this place anyway. But..." And here he leaned in as if he were about to impart some secret to Hector. "...I should remind you that no one ever truly leaves the Strix. At least not of their own accord. You'll do well to remember that."

His loyalty only stretched so far. It reached a point in the Strix when he realised he wasn’t benefitting from being a member and it was time to plough his own fields. There were only a handful of people he would stand beside to the bitter end. Tristan and the Strix didn’t make the cut, which didn’t make them happy. Despite that he still stood by them in New Orleans when Rayna Cruz was threatening to wipe them out. “I returned to you in New Orleans… shame a World War kicked off at the same time though.” He was on the first flight back to England when he found out, avoiding the Phoenix Stone. At least if he was shot whilst fighting for his country he would bounce back. There was no bouncing back from that stone. He didn’t sign on a dotted line to say he would devote his whole life to the Strix even though some members acted like it was a lifelong membership. Hector considered his ties with them severed, but Tristan clearly didn’t. “So why don’t you kick me out… apparently my loyalty is not up to scratch anyway.” Animosity hung in the air. Tristan wasn’t welcome in the bar and neither was his sister or any of the Strix, but Hector wouldn’t be hanging a sign up to advertise that. Just how he didn’t hang a sign to say most of the Mikaelsons weren’t welcome. He only liked to have customers he could control and Tristan fell outside of that scope. The age gap was just a little too big, leaving Hector at a disadvantage. TRISTAN DE MARTEL - wanna wrap with yours?

DEJA VU (WITH HECTOR DACRE)
"Shame about a great many things, Hector," Tristan corrected, his tone dry. "Considering the strings the Strix pulled to start that particular war, I find it disheartening that you would use it as an excuse for you abandonment. There is no sense in crediting you for returning when you did not stay." He wouldn't argue semantics. In the end, Hector had left and he clearly wasn't hurting for the decision. That part bothered him more than he wanted to let on. He had rebuilt the Strix to make it a lasting entity in all its members' lives. It was the end all, be all. The only place one would find true belonging (never mind the maneuvering that brought each member to that place)
He laughed at Hector's suggestion. "That would be the easy solution wouldn't it? I just formally banish you." He took a step closer, practically nose to nose with his former ally. He could feel some of that centuries' worth of strength uncoiling as if he was ready to lash out. He was rarely violent but when he was, it was something to behold. He knew what he was doing. He knew how to inflict pain in so many ways and he relished doing it. But not today. He didn't want to get his suit dirty. "But I don't like easy. Besides, I have plan for people who turn their back on me. Every one of them eventually discovers just what that is. You'll just have to wait your turn, Hector. Until then..." And he bowed his head a little before disappearing the way he had come in.
