There was zero hesitation when it came to putting herself up for auction. She wanted to stand on that stage, in the tightest and shortest dress she could steal from Hannya’s wardrobe and watch as the men threw their money in the air to spend the day with her. Every now and then she would scrunch her face up at the person throwing their card in the air before leaning over to whisper to the auctioneer, “Not him.” Whenever an undesirable tried to put their card up she would use her abilities to force it back down again. She wasn’t presenting herself like this to have men below her placing bets on her. There were a few handsome faces scattered in the crowd though but she had her eye on one in particular. She stood there and watched the bidding war between two men for a little longer before she sealed shut one man’s throat, preventing him from making any further bids. As always Leah got her way. It was still relatively early in the day, but thankfully the man was tolerable. She didn’t find herself wanting to claw her eyes whenever he spoke, which made the rest of the day a little easier for her. When she left the apartment a few hours prior Remzi was nowhere to be seen, which left her feeling a little disappointed. She wanted him to see her before she left and ask where she was going and why she was dressed up so much, only for her to tell him to mind his own fucking business. As she was leaving she found herself listening carefully around the apartment to see if he and Hannya were together somewhere. The place was empty. There wasn’t even any sign of that little weird kid that lived there. Furious with herself for stooping to such a level she slammed the front door harshly and stormed off down the corridors. Just because Remzi wasn’t giving her the attention she needed didn’t mean she wouldn’t get it elsewhere. It didn’t take long before the man started to openly flirt with Leah. His hand was on her waist, pulling her in close as the pair continued to speak. The other hand snaked around her back, resting on the base of her spine, itching to edge a little lower. He took the plunge eventually, leaning forward for a kiss, to which Leah didn’t back away. Traces of whiskey could be tasted on his tongue. He told her he’d be back soon with more drinks for two after heading to the toilet. REMZI DURMAZ - ignore the gif quality pls thank u

━ like sisyphus pushing that rock uphill ━ REMZI HAD RESIGNED TO THE FACT THAT HE WAS never gonna get his brother back. It just… wouldn’t happen, no matter how many times Leah spat false promises or some bullshit about witches. She wanted him to show up to some fucking place, talk to some bitch who probably wanted way more than they could provide, all for the chance of bringing Raik back. He wouldn’t do it. Just as she started to explain, Remzi cut her off with questions he barely let her answer, and then refused. He wouldn’t put Raik’s… soul or whatever through that shit. He’d already done enough.
He wanted to make this right, but it seemed kind of impossible. He lost more and more hope each day, spiralling downwards. Hannya was happy to help him on his way; it was almost like she fed on it. But she encouraged his deepest, darkest desires, and that’s all Remzi wanted. He used to have fun with Leah like that, but shit changed between them after Raik’s death. She was naggy now, all up in his business all the time, and made him feel… a whole bunch of shit he didn’t wanna feel. Leah was the worst possible fucking person to get close to━to have feelings for.
When he left the apartment in a huff that morning, he hadn’t expected to be crawling back to her. Going to the Founder’s Day Party━because she couldn’t resist some shit like that, he knew her too well━and ready to accept her offer.
He didn’t want to carry the guilt anymore. It’s what flipped his switch in the first place, what made him a monster. He killed Raik’s fucking high school sweetheart━what kind of sick asshole did that? And then, to top it all off, he got Raik killed by messing with Leah's life. It didn’t matter that all this shit would cause some major emotional fucking turmoil, that it’d build his hopes up for getting Raik back━all that mattered was trying to bring his brother back to life. Raik fucking died… the least Remzi could do was give it a shot. He couldn’t keep saying he fucking felt bad if he did nothing to rectify it.
Plus, his mom was sending over some bitch for him. Undoubtedly it’d stir the pot with Leah, but they’d spoken a couple times over the phone, even had Raik on Facetime once or twice. She knew him, and was expecting him to be there. Remzi couldn’t keep evading their parents forever. If he was lucky, maybe she’d help him lie. She couldn’t be his, y’know, future wife or some shit without knowing her hubby was a vampire, right?
So, he went. He got a nice fucking dress shirt on (he wasn’t wearing a damn suit) and got to the party. Better late than never.
Slipping through the door, Remzi tried desperately to ignore the sound of thumping heartbeats in every direction, and the squeal of a microphone━he was pretty sure he saw Hannya sandwiched between two dudes. He didn’t feel a rush of jealousy there, just smirked to himself━it was nothing like when he laid eyes on Leah. She had her own date, likely someone who’d literally purchased her from the fucking people auction going on. It’d be just like Leah to put herself in the spotlight for some fucking attention.
Anger surged through him, and though he’d come here to do right by his brother, to fix this, he couldn’t help himself. The man parted from Leah and headed toward the fringes of the party, and Remzi followed. He met him in the bathroom, slipping in soon after and getting the door. Just to be safe, though, Remzi locked an arm around the guy’s neck and dragged him from the urinal into a stall, then drained him completely. He’d always ripped apart his victims, but this time he made certain not to get any on his new shirt━this asshole’s wouldn’t fit him. It would’ve been fucking hilarious, though, to walk out wearing her date’s clothing.
Parting from the limp body, Remzi propped him up on the toilet seat and locked the stall door. In a flash, he was on the other side, and turned to catch himself in the mirror.
He looked just like he had when he’d drained those two girls at Halloween. It was approaching a year since then, almost. A year since his brother really began to give up all hope. Remzi was sure he could’ve gotten him back by then, though. There was still a little piece of Raik that held some hope for his stupid baby brother. It’d drained completely, along with Katie’s life.
With a huff, Remzi bent over the sink and washed the blood from his face. He didn’t get it all out of his beard━it wasn’t entirely necessary; the dark, wiry hairs would hide it━but certainly off his skin. Avoiding his reflection once he was finished, Remzi unlocked the door and slipped out, heading right to Leah.
Finding her in the crowd, he slipped an arm around her waist and pressed on a smirk, “Hey,” He mumbled, voice gruff as she maneuvered in front of her, dipping his head to kiss the edge of her lips softly. “Your date was a total p-ssy, so I told him to fuck off. You want drinks?” Remzi nodded towards the open bar, still grinning like they hadn’t gotten into a massive argument the last time they spoke.

She’d played everything by the book this time and where was it getting her? Nowhere. Raik was still dead and Remzi was still miserable as fuck, bringing her down along with him with his constant moodiness. Leah had presented him with a solution, but he didn’t show her the gratitude she deserved which diminished some of the sympathies she had for him. Apparently there were five stages of grief and she needed Remzi to hurry the fuck up on reaching the final stage so they could bring Raik back. Leah had everything she needed from Cassie’s little list apart from Remzi, who apparently was a key ingredient to this spell, which sounded stupid but whatever. Leah wasn’t the witch who was able to wave her hands in the air and bring someone back to life. She hadn’t discussed what the young witch wanted in return either, but that was Leah’s problem, not Remzi’s. She was prepared to smash open a bank vault if it meant Remzi had his brother back and she despised the fact she was willing to go that far to make Remzi happy. She knew that meant she cared for him, but for now she was telling herself it was because she was bored of Remzi dragging his sorry ass around the apartment, bringing her mood down. She needed to tell herself that she was doing this for herself, not for Remzi. She was doing this to make herself feel better, not to make him feel better because who gave a fuck about his feelings, right? Then there was that bitch who had been Facetiming him and calling him. She knew Remzi didn’t have any sisters, so she wanted to know why there was some Turkish chick blowing his phone up every few days. It was someone his parents had found for him to marry. Leah cackled as soon as Remzi told her, telling him there was no fucking way someone in the right mind would walk down the aisle for him. Money must have been involved and a lot of it. Throwing herself at another man was the perfect distraction from Remzi. Someone to help her forget about those feelings that were bubbling away inside. The ones that she had been forcing down day after day because Leah was the queen of not giving a shit about anyone but herself. She wasn’t prepared to lose that title. What happened outside Whitmore house was a very very brief moment of weakness, never to be repeated again. The weeks following that she thought maybe things would be different between her and Remzi, but nothing really changed. They were both pretending it never happened, burying their heads in the sand. Something that would never be spoken about again. How long did it take someone to get a drink? Leah was growing bored of waiting, ready to pounce on someone else instead. Blue eyes scanned the area for other victims but just as she was about to march over to someone else Remzi appeared in front of her, his hand sliding around her waist with that fucking smirk painted on his face. What was he even doing here? More importantly, where did he even find himself a nice shirt? Leah had never seen Remzi wear a shirt. She didn’t move back as he inched down to kiss her, but she didn’t exactly return the kiss either. Brill. Now she had no date and Remzi was hanging off her. “That’s a shame. I liked him and now he’s dead.” The smell of blood lingered in the air between the pair, plus that bell rang through her head telling her there was a soul nearby that needed help. It was someone else’s problem now though. As per usual they were going to pretend like they hadn’t screamed in each other's face only a few weeks before. “Fine. Let's get a drink.” She flashed him an obviously fake smile, linking her arm through his and guiding them towards the bar. “Two double vodka sodas.” One for her, one for Remzi, not giving him the opportunity to put his drink order. Leah twisted her body towards Remzi, “I like the shirt. Where did you find it?” It looked fitted, clinging to his muscles, so he certainly hadn’t stolen it from that skinny kid’s wardrobe at Hannya’s apartment otherwise the buttons would have been popping off. Although she was itching to tear the fabric from his body, but instead of reaching for the shirt, she grabbed her drink off the bar. REMZI DURMAZ

━ like sisyphus pushing that rock uphill ━ LIKED HIM? THAT FUCKING ASSHOLE? SHE WAS JUST toying with him again, Remzi knew that, but he fell for it every time. It made his blood boil, zipping up his back with heat and rage, irritated that she could do this to him so easily. He felt like a fucking puppet, and it made Remzi itch with the need to retaliate.
But this wasn’t about that. He had to stay fucking focused and not fall into Leah’s traps again━even though she was trying to help him and Remzi was the shitty one. Wasn’t that fuckin’ wild, huh? Remzi had always been pretty awful, but he used to think Leah made him worse━he was beginning to realize that perhaps they were on equal levels of shitty and fucked up. It’s why they worked so well.
It was also why getting Leah to forgive him was gonna be a fuckin’ mission in and of itself. She’d make this difficult for him, he was sure, but part of Remzi hoped she’d take it easy on him this time. Well, he always hoped the people in his life “took it easy on him,” but now, with the whole Raik thing, he really wanted Leah to.
“Ain’t that a bitch?” Remzi muttered carelessly, almost as if he wasn’t listening. Thankfully, the offer of drinks got her attention, though she gave Remzi that bitchy smile that said he was gonna be in for it during this whole fucking interaction. Great. It wasn’t like he didn’t deserve it; he just wasn’t a “deal with the consequences of your actions” kinda guy. He never had been. That’s why this shit with Raik was so hard, because it was Remzi’s fault.
Heading over to the bar, Remzi frowned at Leah’s order, glancing sideways at her. “Fucking girly-ass drink,” He grumbled, but her attention was finally on him, and not in some fake way like before. He slipped his arm around her waist again, pulling them together at the hips.
“Pulled it off some guy walking in,” He lied, grinning playfully. “Y’know, it was crazy━I just asked him to give me his shirt, and he did.” Remzi watched Leah grab her drink and followed suit, using his free hand to take a sip. He drew his brows together at the taste, then drained half before settling it on the bar again. “What about you, huh? Put this on just for me?” He teased, knowing it was the opposite━Leah didn’t want him here, not even in the “fun” way they used to make each other jealous. Used to━as if this was different.
“So… I thought more ‘bout what you suggested. Y’know, with…” She knew. He didn’t have to say Raik’s name. Remzi cleared his throat uncomfortably, though he hated acting this way with her, especially in public. “I should’ve… I think we should do it. For him. It’ll just be better; make shit easier.” He couldn’t find the words to say sorry, or that he should’ve appreciated what she was doing for him. This was Remzi trying to worm his way out of a genuine apology and get what he wanted all at once.

Her plan had been shot to pieces by Remzi. Secure herself a hot man from the auction, take him back to Hannya’s apartment and spend the night with him, secretly hoping Remzi would walk in at any moment. Whatever way the evening was going to pan out, the man would have ended up dead in any event. He signed his death certificate as soon as he threw his hand in the air to bid on Leah. Poor guy. Then again, her mom always told her she was a black hole that sucked the light out of everything and everyone around her. She did the same to Remzi. First she drove him to switch his emotions off and now Raik was dead, leaving Remzi without his best friend. Sometimes she’d take a minute to think about the life he may be leading if he’d never met her. Remzi would have still been ripping throats out, she was certain of that. She could see that quality in him the night they met, which is why she chose him. Someone who was just as bad as her, but by the time she realised there was a good person beneath the surface she was in too deep. She couldn’t turn her back on him and she’d already sucked Remzi into the black hole. They brought out the absolute worst of one another, but in their own fucked up way they also brought out the best. No one could keep up with them. One minute they were blocking each other on every single social media outlet and the next they were laughing and joking in bed with each other. It was bipolar as fuck. Leah was the girl your parents warned you about and Remzi was the guy your parents would be disappointed in you if you brought him home in one evening. Together they were untouchable. “Girly-ass drink for a little bitch like you.” She retorted as he grabbed her and pulled her in, her body easing into his, fitting perfectly against his frame. She was still pissed at him, but she didn’t want to pull away from Remzi, enjoying his hands wrapped around her waist. It was as if she belonged right there, pressed against Remzi. She kept her eyes locked on Remzi as she took a large gulp of her drink. Was there even any fucking vodka in it? This wasn’t the type of event where she could make a scene though. So many Prada suits and Louis Vuitton bags. “Being polite to people gets you a long way.” Compulsion was the only ability of Remzi’s that she actually wanted. Forcing people to do what she wanted sounded like a dream to Leah. “I put this on for charity.” She said sarcastically. She’d never given a shit about giving to those in need. “I was hoping it wouldn’t stay on very long though.” A part of her was glad that Remzi had shown up. The smallest part of her was because she was longing for it to be him to remove the fabric from her body. God, she hated what he did to her. One hand rested on her drink as the other slid around Remzi’s waist, looking up at him, her cold blue eyes examining his face. His gaze did things to her. Feelings fluttered in her stomach, settling slightly as he began to speak again. Those cold eyes started to warm, lighting up in their own way. “Really?” A smile spread across her face as comfort set in. She desperately wanted Remzi to be happy again. Real happiness, not the fake shit he had been acting out since Raik died because she could see straight through that. “I’ll get in touch with the girl tonight and we can meet up with her next weekend?” A question rather than a statement, which was rare for Leah, considering she ordered everyone around like servants. ━ like sisyphus pushing that rock uphill ━ SOMETIMES, LEAH’S INSULTS WEREN’T SO EASY to see through. But sometimes, she called him a little bitch while she let him drag their bodies together, and Remzi knew it was bullshit. Paper-thin, like her annoyance towards him. It’d crumble when Remzi, y’know, got it a little wet.
Sipping his drink after he’d merely smirked at her jab, Remzi bit his tongue━it was a girly-ass drink. It tasted like fucking tonic water only, and maybe there was a hint of lime somewhere in the background? Everything was heightened for him, so this drink really had to taste like shit.
Whatever, though. He wasn’t here for the drinks; he was here for Leah.
And didn’t she fuckin’ know it, too.
Remzi barked out a laugh, squeezing the boney hip he still had caught underneath his large hand. “Don’t worry,” He lifted his hand and smacked it down, hard, on her ass, squeezing a handful. “It won’t.” He’d shimmy her out of it soon enough, after he was… done with all the touchy-feely shit.
It wasn’t weird to get it out with his hand on her ass. Nothing was really weird for them except softness and the admission of feelings, so, really, taking possession of her body was the only normal part of this interaction.
He couldn’t help the warmth that spread in his chest at her smile, though. It was strange, foreign for them, though it’d been around more often lately. Would it change once━if he got Raik back? Would they go back to how they were before, or were they like this forever now? It bothered Remzi that he wasn’t sure which he wanted more━actually, it bothered him how clearly he knew which one he wanted.
“Yeah, really.” Remzi mumbled, grinning softly back at her. She looked so warm and excited to help, expressions he didn’t see Leah wearing often. He liked it. She looked… good. “Sounds good.” He agreed gently and, instead of a ‘thank you,’ Remzi leaned in to take her mouth with his. It was far more innocent than his hand placement would’ve suggested, full of passion of a different kind, something untapped for them. He kissed her deeply, lovingly, and didn’t care about all the shit bubbling in his gut over it.
“C’mon,” He spoke gruffly, quietly, against her lips. “Let’s go dance; make these old-ass bitches jealous.” Remzi chuckled, beginning to drag Leah toward where the rest of the public had gathered to dance. For once, though, a big part of Remzi wanted to pull her back to the apartment and curl up together, enjoying some time where they could be alone.
