I was born to run, I don't belong to anyone I don't need to be loved by you
” You are crazy!” There was something about the man’s voice that was really getting on Raven’s nerves as she stared him down from where he was on the floor, like an ant. There was a knife in her hand and there was already blood dripping from the tip of it because she had it pointed downward. There was a cut on the man’s arm that was bleeding profusely. She had managed to cut him deep and while Raven saw it as nothing but a flesh wound because she knew what the man would suffer later would be greater than just a cut on his arm, Raven couldn’t do anything else to him, for some reason.
Raven’s hair was crazy, her usually well-thought-out clothes were a mess and it was so unlike her but you know what? She’d stopped being her usual self not long after those freaks had experimented on her and Talia. They had done something to her that screwed up with her core. Raven can’t believe when was the last time she had felt this huge conflict between carrying out her evil plan or helping the poor man who was bleeding on the floor. Raven raised her hand up to her face, brushing her messy hair away from her eyes. ” You know, I used to kill men like you with so much ease.” Raven squatted down in front of the man, grabbing him forward with the hold she had on his ugly shirt. ”By now, you would be choking on your own blood, but…” Raven lifted her trembling hand to show that she was incapable of doing anything else to the man.
”I can’t do it.” Raven released him and shoved the man back. ”Go.” She jerked her chin forward for the man to run off. The man stared at her dumbly because he couldn’t believe she was letting him go. ”Don’t make me change my mind,” she said in a mocking voice as she kept her gaze which was condescending at best on the man.
She watched him scramble off and run away from where she was which made her scoff. Raven looked down at her bloodied hands before she dropped the knife with a shaky exhale falling from her lips. Raven pushed herself up so she could walk out of the alleyway. Raven blended in easily with the crowd of people and walked wherever the hell they were going until she eventually made it to the park. Raven had her hands placed inside the pockets of her pink faux fur jacket and seemed to walk aimlessly until her feet started to hurt and only then did she sit next to someone who seemed to be enjoying his lunch. Raven turned to face him better as she crossed her legs, her ankle resting on top of her knee. A very unladylike way to sit. ” What do you call someone who used to kill almost every single day but now seems unable to hurt a single soul?” Raven questioned, her Russian accent visible in the way that she spoke. ” That someone used to be really mean, you know? They used to laugh at the misfortune of others but now? Pfft. They can’t even bump into someone without saying sorry. I mean, who does that? That is so lame, right?” Raven peered over at what the other was eating. ” What are you having?” Her hand was already venturing forward to grab the food that the man was holding, wanting it for herself.

The sun was finally out, albeit still a little cold. That didn’t stop Tobi from enjoying the blue skies on his cycle to work. He was convinced he was a flower in his past life. Something that needed sunlight to survive otherwise everything was grey and boring. Maybe he was a rose, pretty to look at but you can’t touch without getting spiked. With sunshine came a flock of customers to the Coffee Bean, including the cute ones with tight tops. They were his favourite type of customer, but it was always a disappointment when he found out they didn’t bat for his team. Most of them ended up being straight, which was usually glaringly obvious but Tobi chose to ignore it. He did his usual thing as it was approaching his break. Lingering by the coffee machine, pretending to clean something so he didn’t get stuck with a customer's order. A line out the door and Tobi was dusting off coffee cups. There were enough of them behind the counter to keep things ticking out. As soon as his break hit he darted out of the store to enjoy the sun. Like a flower. He picked up his lunch from the Grill before making his way over to the park. Always woke up too late to make his own food, even when he didn’t start until later. Just like a normal young kid, despite the fact he was nearing forty. Massive thank you to his young brother for halting the ageing process and sending him over to the other side for twenty years. He’d already finished his wrap by the time he reached the park. Far too hungry to wait, despite picking at muffins and cakes all day. Tobi threw himself down on the nearest bench, digging his hands into his bag of fries and pushing a few into his mouth. He closed his eyes for a few minutes, titling resting his head on the back of the park bench, tilting his head towards the sun. There was no such thing as the weather on the other side. Obviously, he could see it was sunny in the real world because he couldn’t feel the warmth on his skin. This only made him happy in the winter. Snow on the ground, yet he felt nothing. Even when he tried touching the snow, his hand went straight through. The first winter back in the land of the living he ran outside and threw himself in the snow. Regret set in a few minutes later when he remembered how fucking cold it could be. Once he’d done that, he was over the snow. It could go away. The summer, however. That could stay as long as it wanted. Maybe Tobi was designed to live in a hot country somewhere. On a beach whilst hot waiters bring him drinks. He felt a presence beside him. Someone had decided to sit with him even though there were probably a million other free benches in the park. He kept his eyes closed. Maybe if the person thought he was asleep they’d leave (or try and rob him). But no, they spoke. Great. Tobi opened his eyes, bringing his head upright as the female said something weird. “I mean… that sounds like character development to me” He glanced over at the strange, “Are you like confessing a murder to me? Because I only have a forty-minute lunch break” In simple terms, he didn’t have time to listen to a stranger’s confession. His fries would go cold. Before he could speak her hand was moving out to have some of his food, “Oh please help you yourself” There was a sarcastic undertone in his voice as he turned the bag of fries towards her. Raven wanted nothing more than to go back to her old ways. She wanted to go back to not feeling a damn thing, to just doing whatever her heart desires without fearing the consequences. She missed the sound of people screaming in pain as she drove her knife repeatedly into them. Good times. She missed being a pain in the ass in general, but now... She was so fucking weak. She always ran away at any sight of other demons or angels because she knew they wouldn't hesitate to kill her in an instant if they found her. She didn't want to die again. That would just suck. Raven frowned immediately at the answer. Character development? ” Oh, screw that.” Raven’s blunt answer fell from her lips before she could stop it. ” How do I, I dunno, un-develop myself? Is there a reset button somewhere that I’m not aware of?” Raven questioned with a frown already tugging down the corners of her lips in an unpleasant frown. The demon only quirked an eyebrow at his question before she wrinkled her nose and shook her head. ” Nope.” She took her hands out of her pocket to show their bloodied state. ” Only, ah… How do you say it? Ah, attempted murder.” Raven’s lips spread to form a grin that didn’t quite reach her eyes. It almost made her look psychopathic.
Almost.
Oh please help you yourself
Raven took a bunch of the man’s fries and stuffed them in her mouth, nodding her head while chewing. ” Mmm, that’s really good.” She wiped the edges of her lips once she was done chewing on the fries. ” This is another ‘development’ of mine, you know. Food tasted the same for me. Stale and boring. But now? I can actually enjoy it.” Fuck. How she wanted to ‘un-develop’ and go back to her old ways. ” What’s your name, french fries boy?” Raven turned her body so she could face him better.

Tobi knew better than to get involved in other people’s lives or maybe he just didn’t care enough. He tried his best to keep out of his siblings' lives, even going as far as trying to keep out the coven. He had no choice but to remain in the coven now though, namely because there was only the Parker family left and also he had to show he was forever grateful to them for bringing him back from the dead. Of course, he was grateful but he didn’t like the idea of spending every day for the rest of his life showing that. According to his dad, the least he could do is show an interest in magic. He was interested in the magic, but only for his own personal gain. He didn’t want to stand around a campfire chanting spells and incantations. That was bizarre. “Um…” Tobi swallowed his fries before shaking his head, “I don’t think so. Sounds like you’ve found someone or something to care about though and maybe you’re latching on to that” He had no idea. He wasn’t a therapist, he was barely a good barista. His brother had swayed the opposite way. He had gone from loving his family to loathing them to the point of killing them. He raised his eyebrows as he looked down at her bloody hands. Okay, he’d attracted some kind of psychopath Nonetheless, he carried on chewing on his fries, his eyes back on the woman. “Ah yes. You tried to kill someone but it failed” He said with a mouthful of fries, before swallowing them again. “My brother killed me a few decades ago y’know Me and some of my siblings, but he couldn’t quite finish the job with the others” The woman obviously had a few screws loose, so no harm in entertaining her with his story. He titled the fries back towards himself, taking another small handful. “That doesn’t sound like a bad thing though. Like, you wanna enjoy your food” Was this stranger unravelling at the seams the same way Kai did? He spotted it almost immediately with Kai, but as always Samuel was quick to dismiss his concerns that their older brother was going to snap one day. “Tobi. You?” RAVEN

Raven caught her bottom lip between her teeth, her eyes glossing over as she found herself immediately pulled into her thoughts. Talia. Maybe it was true, maybe she was latching onto Talia with her claws and teeth, refusing to let go and in doing so, she’s making herself vulnerable which irritated the hell out of Raven. She missed the days where she was fearless, where she could make a grown man fall to his knees with tears streaming down his cheeks. But now, she was close to being useless and it was beginning to bounce on her nerves quite a bit. “How do I unlatch from something?” Raven questioned, her voice barely above a whisper until she cleared her throat and blinked out of her thoughts to focus her attention back on the boy with the fries. “Or, in this case, from someone.” Raven eyed the boy warily before her eyes narrowed to slits. “She makes me want to be good.” And someone like Raven wasn’t programmed to be a good person. Being good was simply not in her nature.
Raven frowned slightly, not exactly liking it when French Fries boy pointed out her failure out loud like that, it made her want to go back to finish the job to prove him she was capable of doing such a thing. “He's just lucky that I’m not in the mood today.” Raven poked the inside of her cheek with her tongue as she relaxed back on the bench, her hand resting on her ankle. “He killed you?” Raven repeated with a confused look on her face as she eyed the boy next to her. “How the fuck are you here, then? Am I talking to a ghost?” Raven reached out to poke him with her index finger and thankfully, her finger didn’t go through him like in the movies. Not a ghost, then. “Wait, decades?” Raven finally caught onto that bit as she inched closer to the French Fries boy. Seems like he was no ordinary boring human. “What are you?” Raven questioned in a curious voice.
“Oh, but it is bad. That means I’m becoming human and who the fuck would want that?” Raven waved her hand dismissively but then with the same hand, she reached to pluck a few more french fries from Tobi. “Tobi.” She tested his name on her tongue which seemed to roll easily. “Raven.” She introduced herself not long after before she took the fries into her mouth.

Maybe the woman was lucky that she had chosen to sit down next to Tobi and unload her ‘problems’, which all sounded like psychopathic talk to him. Most would have run away screaming, calling the cops that this woman had actual blood on her hands, but the truth was the woman provided a better conversation than the locals in Coffee Bean. They would speak about the weather, their upcoming vacation or the absolute worst is when they spoke about their kids. Sometimes they’d have the audacity to pull out a picture for Tobi to look at and he couldn't even be rude about the Shrek baby that was staring back at him. He had to pretend he gave a shit. He was about to make a joke that the woman should kill the person she was so attached to, but there was a chance she would literally do that. “That’s not necessarily a bad thing though… she’s bringing out the best in you and there is nothing wrong with that.” At least in the normal world, where he lived, but he had no idea what was going inside this woman’s head. Shame Kai wasn’t in the mood to kill his family that fateful day. The lucky unnamed man lived to see another day. He shuffled his shoulder away as she poked him, “Ghosts don’t eat fries.” He pointed out. All the basic human needs were void on the other side. Still, it didn’t stop him from missing the taste of food. A juicy burger or a pizza covered in lots of different cheeses. The taste of an ice cold beer or that sensation of relaxation you get after you smoke. He didn’t expect the other side to be so bland. “I am a barista at Coffee Bean.” He retorted, knowing full well that wasn’t what she meant. Their parents had spent their entire life trying to keep the coven hidden from the world, but Tobi was open with it all, to some extent. Everyone knew there was a chance witches and warlocks existed, but he never went as far as showing them his magic. There was still a small chance someone would burn him at the stake. “What do you mean becoming human?” He exclaimed, shoving more fries into his mouth as he looked over at her. Was she now trying to wind him up? Her hand was back in the fries as she introduced herself. “Nice to meet you.” Well, he wasn’t too sure on the nice part with their conversation taking a sharp turn every few seconds. RAVEN

Raven narrowed her eyes at the other, a frustrated sigh falling from her lips. "There isn't supposed to be any good in me! The demons made sure of that." She grumbled with a shake of her head following, her hair falling in front of her eyes before she combed it back with her fingers. "But recently, I've been feeling things, these things shouldn't even be possible. Demons aren't supposed to feel anything." Raven rubbed her arm, more specifically where that needle had been injected through her flesh, pumping her full of Talia's blood.
"Ah... Good point, yes." She pointed her index finger at the other when he pointed out that ghosts don't eat fries. "How are you alive, then? Aren't you supposed to be dead, zombie boy?" Raven questioned with a curious tilt of her head as she popped a few more fries into her mouth, chewing loudly. "Good for you, being jobless is bad for the economy but that's not what I meant and you know it, zombie boy."
"Ugh, you wouldn't understand. It would make sense if you were a demon like me. Emotions don't exist when you're a piece of scum like me. They shouldn't exist." Raven's tongue poked at the inside of her cheek as she stared off at the distance with a sigh falling from her lips not long after.
When zombie boy revealed his name, she nodded her head slowly. "Nice to meet ya, zombie boy Tobi."

Tobi almost choked his fries when she mentioned demons. He coughed furiously, unlodging the potato wedge from his throat before swallowing again. “Wait… demons are real?” What the fuck? Yes, he’d read about them and heard about them but he thought they were made up. Either that or they stayed downstairs, “Why aren’t you in hell? Isn’t that where you guys belong?” Why the hell was she up here roaming the earth with everyone else. “By feeling things you mean you feel bad about killing people?” All this was slowly threading together in Tobi’s mind. A demon with no soul was obviously going to kill people. Maybe he should have been thankful she was sparing his life. Maybe it was because he shared his fries with her, though not by choice. She wasn’t buying his line about working at Coffee Bean. “Okay, but I do actually work at Coffee Bean.” He pointed down at the polo shirt that was clinging to his skinny frame that had a little Coffee Bean logo in the right corner. “My parents did some crazy spell to bring me back from the dead… I come from a long line of witches and warlocks.” He chomped down on his fries, watching other members of the public walk past them, none of them paying any attention to their conversation, “I’m a warlock.” He added, for clarity. “Woah… you’re not a piece of scum Raven.” Okay he’d known that woman all of five seconds but she didn’t give off that vibe. Upfront and forward maybe. “Sometimes you just gotta roll with the vibes and see where you end up.” He nodded confidently. “You too, demon.” He retorted, eyes still trained on those walking past the pair as he titled his fries towards Raven as an offering. "Yup! Angels, too." Raven revealed with ease as she relaxed back on her seat, her legs still crossed. "Y'know, that's a very rude thing to ask a demon." Raven tsked. "No manners." She turned to look at him better, not at all bothered by the question. "Yup, it's where we belong, but we have the option to come down here. Mainly to wreak havoc and fuck things up." Raven revealed, her shoulders lifting and dropping in a quick shrug. "At least, that was why I decided to come to Earth. I wanted to hurt people. I wanted to set towns and cities ablaze, basically." Raven had been so filled with rage and her demonic nature fed on that shit like it was chocolate. "Exactly! You're catching on, smart boy. Just imagine yourself as this filthy creature, right? You feel nothing all the time but the only time you actually feel something is when you're murdering someone or torturing someone mercilessly. The sound of their screams and the smell of your blood getting you goin', you know? Makes you feel something but then that germ dies and you're back to feeling nothing. That's how I felt all the time back then. I used to feel so much enjoyment from tormenting others. But now? Now if someone offered me a million dollars to kill someone, I wouldn't be able to do it." Raven's nose wrinkled in distaste, keeping her tone low because she knew if other demons were to hear this, they would show her no mercy.
Raven glanced down at his shirt, her lips forming a small 'o' before she released a small hum. "I've actually never been there before. I'll come by to visit ya, then. I'll give you a generous tip." Raven reached out in an attempt to boop his nose, though she'd pull her hand away if he stopped her. Raven released a soft 'ah' as she listened to Tobi before she nodded her head a few times. "That's cool. Will you show me a spell?" Raven turned to face him properly, wriggling on the bench a bit to get a little more comfortable. "I'll show you mine if you show me yours?" Raven offered with a grin forming on her lips not long after.
Raven quirked an eyebrow when Tobi actually defended her. She stared at him for a moment or two before she let out a chuckle. "Thanks, Tobi." Raven offered back. "Y'know what, you don't give shitty advice, unlike most people. I'll test it out, I guess."
Raven's lips stretched into a grin as she reached to pluck the fries from Tobi's hold. "Y'know, you're cool, zombie boy. I like you."

Angels too? Damn, there was another fucking world out there that his parents had failed to mention, which he wasn’t even surprised about. If it didn't fall within the realms of the precious coven then three was no point learning about it, but nonetheless he felt this piece of information was pretty important. Not like werewolves or witches but fucking demons and angels. That was some next level supernatural shit. Wild. He glanced over at Raven when she told him he had no manners, feeling like a little boy that had just been told off by his parents. It was a valid question though. He wished she’d come to Mystic Falls and set the town alight, then he wouldn’t have to go to work, but then his manager would still probably find a way to have his employees working. Even if the shop was burnt to the ground. Tobi listened intently as Raven reeled off what she’d been experiencing recently. Obviously, he couldn’t sympathize with her or pretend that he understood what she was going through. It wasn’t like she was pouring her heart out because someone had dumped her, not that he could relate to that. His heart was still in one piece. He was a little surprised when she said she would turn down a million dollars to kill someone. One million dollars. He would be tempted, depending on the terms and conditions that applied. “Maybe you need to go back downstairs and remind yourself of who you actually are… like surround yourself with other demons, maybe even do a little bit of retraining.” He had no idea what the fuck he was going on about, more importantly, why was he giving advice to a demon on how to cure her problem. “The coffee is fairly decent there, to be honest.” Although it should be with the price tag that was attached to it. They were in Mystic Falls, not New York City, but the people still paid the price. Tobi didn’t edge away from Revan as she reached over to tap his nose, mainly because he didn’t even spot her hand floating over until her finger had hit his nose. His parents had always told him he was slow at reacting to everything. He was told never to practice magic in public unless it was a life and death situation, but Tobi had never followed his parents' rules. “Okay.” He beamed, with a goofy smile on his face before his eyes scanned the park until they fell on the trash can straight ahead of them in the distance, “Incendia” The trash set alight instantly as flames started to lick the edges of the can. “Suctus Incendia.” Just as quickly the flames extinguished leaving behind a small cloud of black smoke. There was one bypasser, who was too busy looking at his cellphone. Tobi raised his hand, pressing it against his chest with a smile on his face, “Why thank you… you seem pretty cool too.” He pictured demons being a lot scarier than Raven, but then again she had just explained how she thought she was somewhat broken.
