Hector’s intentions were to come to Mystic Falls for a few months, see who was lurking around before heading south in his fancy sports car. He’d become a victim by falling into the trap of the town as well. He’d even gone ahead and bought himself an apartment. One that screamed wealthy, but minimalistic. Perhaps the blonde that was dangling off her arm would be lucky enough to see the interior. The kitchen and living room for a moment, before tugging her off towards the bedroom. They stood at the end of the bar, Hector glancing at her every now and then. The alcohol had clearly caught up with her as she was slurring her words at the bartender. Another two shots of whiskey. It was unlikely this one was going to sober up by the time the lights came on, judging by the number of drinks she was polishing off. His plans to take her home were ruined by the human’s inability to hold her liquor. But now, she was his responsibility. Leaning on his shoulder as she rambled on in his ear about anything and everything. One shot away from emptying her stomach on the bar. As soon as the shots were placed down he took them both, knocking them back before peeling the female off his shoulder. She hadn’t even noticed the shots had gone. Forget waiting until the lights came on, the human wasn’t going to make it past midnight. He guided her away from the bar and out of the club, her pulse throbbing heavily in his ears. He could feel it through her skin as he took hold of her wrist and pulled her outside. As tempting as it was to take a bite, he walked her towards the nearest cab. One compelled cab driver and a few notes later the human was on her way home. Perhaps a moral compass was ticking away somewhere deep inside, or he was keen to avoid any headline that read “Dead girl last seen leaving the Ruby Slipper Club”. He didn’t wait to watch the cab disappear out of view before turning back to the entrance of the club, his eyes running up and down the queue that was forming outside. The night was still young. Plenty of other women was waiting in line, but it wouldn’t be long before he found himself drifting downstairs. Afterall, Hannya was down there. She was prepared to give him a good time. Hands deep in his trousers pockets, as he was ready to head inside when he noticed someone join the end of the queue. He removed his hands slowly, almost straining his eyes to make sure it was who he thought it was. He chuckled quietly to himself, making his way over to the male. “You made it out of the trenches in one piece” He cast a glance at the people standing in front of Pierre. Two young college girls, “Are you here with these beautiful ladies?” He flashed the pair a grin as they looked back at him. PIERRE BAUDELAIRE

━ moral compromise has its privileges ━ HE DIDN’T COME TO the club for a distraction (alright, that could be a lie) or as an escape. Pierre would be by Lena’s side until the end of time, especially now when she needed him. Perhaps somebody near here had seen something━there was a long line to get in, which meant it was a popular spot. It was worth a shot, right? Word on the street was that it had an Emerald City below, another franchise location━after his own, the last one Pierre had seen was in Florida. He hated the thought of Baxter finding his way into one, but it was a decent guess.
And if he could spend some time drinking and letting loose, too, then Pierre wouldn’t complain. He’d need it if there was no trace of Baxter here, either.
Standing in line with the humans, Pierre watched the girls in front of him shiver and bounce from foot to foot, seemingly trying to keep warm. They glanced back at him and laughed, sputtering out an incredulous, “Are you not cold?!” Leaving him to chuckle and shrug.
“I’m Canadian,” Though he hadn’t been there in more than a century. “Dzis feels like home.” It only had them laughing harder, filling his gut with false warmth. At least he could still make somebody happy.
‘You made it out of the trenches in one piece.’
Glancing up, Pierre’s eyes went wide, his mouth falling open in a dopey smile. Hector Dacre, a fellow vampire he’d met at the speakeasy before fighting alongside him in World War II. He figured they’d gone separate directions in life━this didn’t seem like the type of place Hector would hang out━and then Pierre wondered if Hector was profiting from this establishment rather than enjoying it. Age changed many aspects of a person, though, so it could’ve been anything, right?
“Apparently one of us cleaned up a lot better once dzey got out, zough,” Pierre chuckled lightly, motioning to Hector’s fancy suit. The women giggled again, and Pierre grinned stupidly until that moment. Lena’s face━or the level at which she could raise her voice to shout━flashed through his mind, and his amusement cut short, a frown followed by a sharp shake of his head.
“Nope! Still happily married to zee same woman.” Pierre lifted his hand, showing off the golden band that had encircled his finger since before he ever met Hector. “How about you? Still terrorizing all the single women you come across?” Pierre snickered, gently nudging one of the ladies in front of him. “Be wary of him, girls. Mr. Dacre here is quite the ladykiller.” He winked, amused by his own joke and flashing Hector a sly smile.

Hector had only been a vampire for a few decades when he went to war with Scotland. Nothing could have prepared him for the overwhelming scent of blood that oozed from the battlefield. Men with open wounds scattered across the land as he had to control his urges. He couldn’t even feed them his blood either. The risk of them dying was far too high. His sire told him not to go, but he ignored the advice. He was a patriot, ready to fight for his country, human or not. He wasn’t completely impervious to death though. One wrong step could have had him on a landmine. Something even a vampire couldn’t survive. It wasn’t long after he returned from the first World War the prohibition came into force. He was ready to head straight back to England when he found Pierre’s speakeasy. Finally, a place he could drink alcohol and unwind a long day of making money. The first time he went nothing happened, but the second time Pierre tugged him to one side as he was leaving and tried to compel it. Hector started laughing. He’d done exactly the same thing to a witch in the south of France after he bit her. Tried to compel her to forget meeting him and it failed miserably causing her to flee back to the village and tell everyone what happened. He secured a bounty on his head after that, leaving him with no choice but to leave. He never thought he’d see Pierre again after their exchanges in the speakeasy, but a few years later he spotted the man out there in the battlefield. Similar to now, Hector took a double look when he noticed the other vampire. Having been to war before, Hector shared some tips and tricks he’d picked up over time on how to avoid being detected by the humans. Hector broke into a grin when he saw Pierre’s mouth extend into that silly smile. “Why thank you. You don’t look too bad yourself” Still the same happy-go-lucky vampire he remembered. His eyes fell on the gold ring on Pierre’s finger. The very same ring Pierre would look down on in the trenches, telling Hector how much he missed his wife and son. He couldn’t relate though. There was no one waiting for him at home. The way in which he spoke about his wife brought a smile to Hector’s face. True love. A type of love he’d only felt once before. “Terrorizing? More like charming them” He looked over at the girls, who were giggling at Pierre’s joke. “What can I say? I like to bite” Maybe if he spotted them later inside one of them would find out just how much. He took hold of Pierre’s left elbow, gently tugging him out of the line. “Can’t have a friend queuing up to get inside of my club” He let go of Pierre, starting to walk alongside the line and back towards the entrance “Where is the wife tonight then?” He asked, as he stopped just outside the door. ━ moral compromise has its privileges ━ CHARMING THEM. PIERRE THOUGHT that was amusing, a nice little twist to the truth━easier to stomach than ‘changing their memories before or after ripping apart their bodies.’ Either way, Hector was a pretty suave guy, smooth in the way Pierre never was━not even in his own mind. He knew he had the best ideas (even if his team might’ve not agreed), but sometimes he couldn’t get them out in a way that was clear, linear and fully executed their brilliancy. His brilliancy.
Snickering at the girls, and Hector’s joke, Pierre thought about taking a chunk out of them━one for him and one for Hector. Not that vampires normally shared, but two old friends could make an exception, couldn’t they?
‘Can’t have a friend queuing up to get inside of my club.’
Pierre beamed as he was pulled out of line, giving the women a little salute. “Enjoy your night, ladies!” He wondered why Hector hadn’t brought them along as well, but he supposed it was time to catch up, and they might just get in the way. In any case, that answered one of Pierre’s questions. “So it is your club, eh? Runnin’ your own Emerald City now?” Looking sideways at Hector, Pierre grinned wide, following Hector’s stride until they got to the door, where he stopped and turned to him.
Suddenly, his smile disappeared. “Home.” Pierre sighed, shaking his head, “Our son… he’s missing. I came to see if any of zee kids ‘ere had seen ‘im since he goes to Whitmore. And to have a drink.” Offering a weak, crooked grin at Hector, Pierre lifted a hand and clapped it down on his old buddy’s shoulder. “Any spots left for an old Frenchman? Don’t tell me ‘ow much you charge for drinks, Hector, odzerwise I may just go home.” He laughed finally, muffled and strained in his chest, doing his best to put on a good face for Hector. He’d show him a picture of Baxter soon, Lena would wring his neck if he didn’t, but now wasn’t the time to bombard such an old mate.
“And ‘ow about you, Hector? ‘Ow’ve you been?” Pierre asked genuinely, not bothering to poke and see if there were any women in Hector’s life━he seemed like the forever bachelor.

If Pierre wasn’t there maybe he would have tugged the attractive girls out of the queue and invited them inside. Girls always got excited when he did that. Make them feel special and they whiz past the queue, walking side by side with the owner of the place whose suit was probably worth more than their car. He’d bring them inside and show them the VIP area. If he was feeling extra generous he’d get them a few free drinks. He could see why the girls were drawn to Pierre. He came across a genuine guy, who had your best interest at heart. But they were both vampires. They were predators, designed to feed on humans. Something Hector never shied away from. But he was happy to leave the girls behind to catch up with his friend. He gave the two females a shot nod before moving away from the queue, Pierre walking alongside him. “Yeah I took over the place when I moved here about a year ago” He never actually put a dollar towards purchasing the place. Everything was in motion by the time he arrived. Perfect for him to swoop in and take it for himself. Hector was about to make a quick remark about Pierre slipping away from the wife. When the cats are away, the mice will play type thing, but his friend mentioned his missing son. Immediately his face fell a little, “I’m sorry to hear that. You can put up some posters inside the club if you want and I’ll be sure to circulate it amongst my staff” There was a sickening feeling in the pit of his stomach that maybe their son had become a victim to one of the vampires downstairs. There was a trace of sadness in Pierre’s laugh, but still, Hector broke into a smile. “Please. The drinks are on the house tonight. It’s not every day I get to see my old buddy” He raised his hand, giving Pierre a light tap on the shoulder. He wasn’t even going to deny the fact he hiked the prices up a fraction, knowing there was no other club in town to compete with. People were going to pay regardless. He gave Pierre a slow nod in response to his question, “Life has been good. Moved back to England after the war then over to New York. Spent a number of years there working as an investment banker. It was like something out of The Wolf of Wall Street” Realistically Hector had no fucking clue what he was doing the whole time he was there, but that was the fun of it. “How about you? Apart from the missing son of course” PIERRE BAUDELAIRE - wrap up with yours?

━ moral compromise has its privileges ━ PIERRE’S FACE VISIBLY BRIGHTENED at Hector’s offer, incredibly grateful that he’d let them put up Missing Person posters and potentially ‘ruin’ the club’s ‘aesthetic.’ He nodded firmly, smiling despite the circumstances. “Zank you, Hector. Dzat does mean a lot.”
Ah, free drinks? That would be quite the way to spend the night. Lena would be howling at him come morning (or doing that freaky yell that foxes do), but Pierre thought there was no better way to catch up with an old friend.
“An investment banker, eh?” He chuckled softly━he couldn’t imagine a more suitable job for Hector. Perhaps running his own brokerage house, though that was in the same vein. Either way, Pierre wasn’t surprised. “Sounds perfect for you, Hector.”
‘How about you? Apart from the missing son of course.’
Pierre nodded twice, his gaze falling with a soft frown. It was hard not to think of much else, and though Hector was an old friend, Pierre wondered how much he could divulge. That, of course, did not matter once his mouth got in the way of his brain. “Zee man who turned me, who put us all into dzis mess, I believe ‘e’s here━in Mystic Falls. But we shall see. No time for dzat now, let’s drink!” Pierre called out excitedly, mouth hanging open like a happy dog about to be taken on a walk. He was grateful that Mystic Falls could provide one nice thing, and took this as a good sign━more were coming.
