the cute one (with Raik Durmaz)
One of the things she came to learn over her years as a vampire was to always have as much collateral as you could when it came time to dealing with any issues. Right now she was classifying Remzi as an issue. In the first few years of her vampirism she had decided that she would never gift her circumstance to anyone else. Although she had come to embrace who she was, she still had to deal with the rather steep learning curve and everything that came with it. She had no desire to walk someone else up that same curve. She was no one's mother.
But still, that was her blood in Remzi's veins. A certain level of responsibility crept in (dammit Iain).
Therefore, she did her best to learn everything she could about his current circumstance. Low and behold she found something that could be the key to keeping her unruly spawn in line if it came to that. Or more accurately, someone. She practically lit up like a Christmas tree when her eyes fell on Raik. She was pleased to realize he was still on the right side of living (although she was envious that her companion that night had managed to pull off a feed and memory wipe without messing it up; she didn't like making mistakes).
Rose, being Rose, wanted a closer look at her trump card. Therefore she made sure that they were in the same place at the same time. She ignored her surroundings (because who on earth would want to come to a place like this voluntarily) and settled onto a stool a few down from him. She ordered a beer, despite not really having the taste for it. Then she turned her head slightly, smiling as she laid eyes on him. "Hello, handsome," she began.

This wasn’t unlike Remzi. To go off the radar for a few days, disappear to wherever and remerge whenever he was done doing whatever he wanted to do. Meanwhile, their parents would be sitting in the apartment, stressing about their youngest whilst their eldest was a thousand miles away trying not to get shot. It was a surprise that one of their parents hadn’t lost their hair through pure stress. Now Raik was the one doing the stressing, but this was a different level than before. Before he was concerned for his brother’s wellbeing. Praying he hadn’t slipped off with some friends who weren’t loyal. They were just there for a good time, even if Remzi ended up in hospital at the end of it all. Now he was scared for everyone else around his brother. Fighting the urge to drain every human he came across. Halloween really opened his eyes to how dangerous his brother could be. Two women were dead on the bathroom floor and Remzi standing there covered in their blood. It was something that was plaguing his dreams every single night. He brought his drink up to his lips, trying to eradicate a memory that was burnt so deep into his mind. A version of his sibling he never thought he’d see. He was trying his best to be positive about this living nightmare the pair were in. Telling himself they were going to make it out the other side, maybe a few dead humans along the way. Despite the look of disgust, he flashed at his brother before leaving the bar on Halloween he was still there for Remzi. No matter what. Raik started his day in the Grill, sinking back drinks like they were going to run out before trawling over to Campbell’s bar to make use of his staff discount. He glanced down at his cellphone, still, no messages popping up from Remzi but still an unread one from their mom, asking how her ‘favourite sons’ were doing. He couldn’t bring himself to type out a message to say they were fine. Another lie on a mountain of lies he’d been telling his parents since they left Detroit. He peered into his almost empty glass as if there was going to be an answer lying at the bottom. He pulled his gaze away as the female nearby spoke. “Handsome?” He said with a chuckle, “Um… thank you and hello” Eyes followed the bartender as he placed the beer down in front of the female. “Another one of these please… and I’ll pay for this lady’s drink” He nodded towards the stranger. Someone to keep him distracted from the worrying thoughts that were flooding his mind. ROSE DAVENPORT

the cute one (with Raik Durmaz)
Rose wanted to twist Raik around her fingers, to have him dangling there just in case her troubled little child got out of hand. She needed something to keep him in line and the fact that the brothers were still together told her that the man sitting next to her could be quite helpful in achieving that goal. It helped that he was easy on the eyes too.
Oh the hardships of getting my way, she thought gleefully even as the beer was placed in front of her.
Despite not ever having developed a proper taste for such things, Rose took a sip and managed to hide her disgust at the bitterness in the back of her throat. She wondered if she added a few drops of blood if that would change how she felt about the stuff. She highly doubted that she would ever be a proper convert but she decided that one day she would try it. Just for fun. Maybe Raik could even be the donor. It all depended on how much she could insert herself into his life.
"Appreciate that. I'll get the next round," she instructed the bartender. She was a modern woman after all. Or some version of that idea. She had survived on her own for a hell of a long time (well, she knew in comparison to some vampires it had no been as much but she was just placing herself against her so called friends who would be elderly by now). "Rose by the way. I know I was a bit forward a few moments ago but I like making sure that those I appreciate know it." She shrugged her shoulders playfully, giving him a bit of an innocent look along side the gesture. "And I've been in Mystic Falls long enough to realize that there are only a few that actually deserve it." That part was true enough. The town was lacking on men worth her time.
Raik was worth her time --- for more reasons than one.

It was difficult to be there for someone who was so adamant of going off the rails. Remzi forged his own path years ago and refused to stray off it. A path of self-destruction and mayhem. Raik on the other hand was on a very very straight path that would only curve and bend when his brother was around. Their road trip to Vegas was full of that and in that moment he was happy to stray. He’d spent years in the military with very little freedom. Fighting hard for his country and making sure everyone came back alive. It was a heavy burden to carry, but it was lifted as soon as he was discharged. For those feRaik wanted to get on Remzi’s path. To be free and careless, but now he regrets it. So much guilt bundled up inside him that it was spilled out at the seams. He should have followed Remzi to that stupid party and stop the idiot from drowning. Their mom was always so worried about Remzi, thinking he was going to end up dead due to his reckless behaviour. She was right and every single day Raik was left convincing himself his brother wasn’t really dead, but he was. He’d watched how quickly he recovered from wounds. Unlike his brother though, Raik could get drunk off a normal amount of alcohol. His liver had truly taken a beating these past few months and it wasn’t about to heal itself like Remzi’s apparently did. A few more doubles and he’d be on his way. Perhaps it would help him have a dreamless night instead of waking up every hour terrified something bad had happened to his sibling or shaken away by the images of his brother from Halloween. He had company though. Pulling himself from that sadness he painted a smile on his face as he greeted the redhead. Maybe it was time to stop being such a gentleman, as it was clearly getting him nowhere in life. “Thanks” He responded to her offer of buying the next round. “Raik” A shy smile when Rose said she was merely appreciating his life. If his skin were pale there would have been a flush of pink on his cheeks. “It’s an interesting town. Small, but quite lively” He commented as the bartender returned with their drinks, “Thanks. Just stick it on my tab” More alcohol to wash away his troubles. “How long have you lived here?” He brought his drink up for a small sip. ROSE DAVENPORT

the cute one (with Raik Durmaz)
She wondered how much Raik knew when it came to his brother. Surely he had to know of his vampire status --- it would be hard to keep something like that from those closest to him. But did he know the whole story? Good thing she had been fast and loose with the details she used to pull Remzi in. She hardly wanted her little game with his brother to be over before it began.
"Raik," she repeated, playing the word around with her tongue long enough to draw it out. She smiled. "I like it --- it's different. Rose is so boring. Do you know how many times I have been asked if it is my favorite flower? It's not by the way." She rolled her eyes a little and then turned her attention back to him.
She took another drink of her beer and then snorted. "What version of the town are hanging around in? I think I might need a tour. So far all I have seen are trees, houses older than the hills and cutesy little stores. It's really not my scene thus far. But maybe there is a side to it that I am missing. Care to by my guide sometime?" She grinned a little before shrugging her shoulders. "A bit forward? Don't mind me." She waved her hand to throw off the suggestion.
"As you can probably tell from everything I have said thus far, I haven't been here long enough to find any real appreciation for Mystic Falls. Just a few weeks." Which may or may not be an overestimation by a week but he didn't need to know that. "What about you? How long have you been here?" She turned her body towards him fully, clearly interested in what he had to say. After all, besides that handsome face of his, he was a window to his brother.

A smile tugged at his lips as Rose said she liked his name, “Thanks… Turkish” When he was younger his mom would tell him it meant soldier or something similar. Some self-fulfilling prophecy shit when he came home announcing to his parents he was joining the military. He shook his head, “Rose is a beautiful name” He assumed all women liked roses? At least that's what Remzi told them when they were teenagers and Raik hadn’t exactly tested the theory. Rose blew it out of the water. “Then what is your favourite flower?” He asked inquisitively. He had probably been hanging around in the same area of town that Rose was in, but as always he was trying to stay positive about the place. Everywhere had its bad places, right? Maybe those bad places weren’t filled with hungry vampires willing to tear your throat out. Nonetheless, he chuckled, “Yeah sure, I mean, I’m not from around here but I can show you what I know so far. What kind of scene are you looking for?” Mystic Falls didn’t exactly have that crazy city vibe that people craved, but it still had enough going on. He thought coming here would be good for the brothers, but apparently not. “It’s fine… I… I like it” He’d never been the forward type, even when he was trashed he remained a little bit reserved with the women. Remzi however took the wheel on everything. Like on Halloween when he leaned over the bar to flirt with those girls. Confidence radiating from him, whilst Raik hung in the background. It felt like they had been in town two seconds, but it was ticking close to a year now. Their mom wasn’t happy she hadn’t seen her ‘precious boys’ in twelve months. He was hoping with a daylight ring the two could head up to Detroit, but Remzi had other plans. Plans that didn’t involve Raik. He twisted his body to face Rose, “Just under a year. Came here with my brother to meet up with some of his friends but ended up staying” The same lie he’d spun to everyone who asked. The truth was Remzi wanted a daylight ring. “How about you?” He took a small mouthful of his drink, adding the large amount of liquid swirling around in his stomach by now. ROSE DAVENPORT

"Turkish," she repeated, filing away the information. She never knew what was useful but thankfully she had one hell of a memory. "I take it that you are Turkish as well." It was a fairly good guess given the other clues she had pieced together. She hadn't thought much about Remzi's background the night she met him. She had only thought about getting a hit of blood before disappearing into the night. It was supposed to be a quick snack --- and now she was chatting up his brother in case she needed him down to the road to make sure her wayward child behaved himself.
Although, she was telling the truth, she had faced much worse hardships.
"Orchids," she answered. "Purple ones to be exact --- just in case you wanted to get me a little present in the future." She gave him a wink to pepper the statement. A bit of harmless flirting --- and yes, she truly meant for it to be harmless. She had made that mistake with Remzi. She didn't need to the progenitor of two baby vampires. One was proving to be bad enough.
"And I'd appreciate you giving me a little tour. Sometimes it is best to get it from someone who didn't grow up here. You don't have the same emotional attachment to it that they do. You can be objective," she pointed out with a nod of her head. She was committing herself to spending a little more time with him (again, not a real hardship in the grand scheme of things) and then she would perhaps drop a hint or two of their connection to Remzi. A reminder that she wasn't playing around and neither should he.
"Traveling with your brother? That either sounds like a blast or a disaster in the making." She had no idea considering that she was an only child. She often wondered what it would have been like but then she remembered that she barely got her parents' attention as it was. If she had had to share then the time would have been that much less. "As for me --- I am actually from Virginia. Just not this part of it. I...well, I wanted a little change of scenery but nothing too drastic. Also a bit of quiet, if that makes sense. Sometimes life can be way too loud."

He had no idea why he felt the need to explain his name at that moment. Perhaps it was because he was fuelled by a bit of alcohol and was feeling more chatty. “Born here. Parents are both Turkish though” Was if he was speaking of his dad. Every now and then he would have a wave of guilt for referring to Remzi’s dad and his dad, especially in front of his mom. At first, it probably hurt to hear him say that but Raik was only a few weeks old when his dad died. So when he started referring to Jimin as Dad, his mom didn’t make an effort to prevent it. He grinned at Rose, “I’ll be sure to remember” His brother would forget in almost an instant. A girl could tell Remzi she hated roses a thousand times over, but still receive them every Valentine's day (although he’d never actually witnessed Remzi buying a girl anything ever unless it was a drink in a bar). It was as if their mom had taught them nothing about how to treat women. Raik obviously absorbed it all, but Remzi didn’t. Raik’s tour of the town started as soon as they drove in and Remzi was promptly arrested. He thought it was all over for his brother, even going as far as lying to the police to cover his tracks. He was naive enough to believe Remzi would change his behaviour after that. “I’ll give you an honest tour of the place with my honest opinion on everything” Stripping away everything that had happened, the town was relatively nice. There was a weak smile on Raik’s face. It all started as a blast, before descending into disaster. “We’ve done a fair bit of arguing but it’s been good… well, he’s not talking to me at the moment funnily enough. We had a bit of an argument on Halloween” More than just a stupid argument about who ate the last of the bread (it was always Remzi). He took a mouthful of his drink, listening to Rose. He nodded in agreement, “Yes. It’s nice to have some quiet time” Something he’d been craving for months now, but didn’t expect it to happen like this. “My brother is the complete opposite though. He likes partying and living that type of life, y’know, whereas I like calmness” ROSE DAVENPORT

the cute one (with Raik Durmaz)
"First generation," she commented as if she actually understood and appreciated such a thing. She had no idea of course, having come from a long line of Davenports that could no doubt trace their lineage back to the boats that landed on the Virginia shores centuries ago. "So if they didn't pick Mystic Falls to settle in, where did your family decide to let their roots sink in?" She had no idea if the information would be useful but if she had to go really digging, she wasn't above visiting the old Durmaz homestead if necessary. She wondered if dear old Mom and Dad were still alive and if they had any idea of what their son had become.
Probably not.
Look at how she had handled it. She went right home, filled with something she didn't understand and unleashed it on her bastard of a father. She had never regretted doing what she did (but part of her wonders if that was because she couldn't; after all she had set herself up nicely in the I don't care department).
Rose grinned. "I am definitely interested in the Raik tour of Mystic Falls. Tell me, what do you consider the highlight? The tedious falls or the cutesy town center? Inquiring minds want to know." She laughed a little and then pulled her drink to her to take another sip. "I only kid. I just spent the last few years out west in California. The noise, the people, the interesting quirks all coming together --- it's hard to find the same thing in such a small town. But I am sure that it has its benefits."
Listening to the differences between he and his brother she found herself cursing that she had picked the wrong one that night. If her little mistake had happened with Raik, she doubted that things would have turned out the way they had. Even if he turned. At least he seemed like he had some sense to him where as Remzi had already proven to be a handful (to say the least). "I am sorry you two are fighting," she said, injecting as much sympathy as was possible for someone in her position. "What caused it? If you don't mind me asking. You don't have to tell me of course --- but sometimes it helps to just...let it all out."

Rose was full of questions, which didn’t faze him. It was nice to meet someone who was genuinely interested in his life, rather than a female just looking to get a few free drinks. Although it had memories of his brother running through his mind as he recounted his childhood. “Detroit. Questionable neighbourhood but it was the only place they could find somewhere cheap enough to live.” His mom probably dreamed of moving to New York when they arrived, just like most did. Long walks in central park after buying a coffee from her favourite coffee shop. She probably didn’t picture somewhere like their neighbourhood in Detroit, but ultimately they made it their home. A place to raise a family and make a future. Regardless, the place was a whole lot better than where they lived in Turkey. Unfortunately, the perception he had of Mystic Falls had slowly grown sour since falling out with his brother. “Well if you’ve seen the falls and town centre then it sounds like you’ve pretty much seen it all.” Although he only enjoyed the falls in the early morning before others arrived. “Oh really. My brother and I lived in LA before coming to Mystic Falls. Busy city with so many people.” Remzi preferred it more than Raik did. The chance to sneak out late at night to feed on humans with Leah by his side. “Um…” He trailed off for a moment, taking a sip of his drink as he pondered over how to explain the situation to her. His brother killed two people after promising he was dealing with his urges. “I don’t really agree with his lifestyle choices at the moment. He’s gone off the rails a bit.” Which was a polite way to describe what was happening. ROSE DAVENPORT

the cute one (with Raik Durmaz)
"I have been to Detroit. Not long enough to get a true handle on what is or was like --- but it would definitely be an interesting place to spend your formative years." Rose had blinked her way through that city on her way to something more glamorous. She wouldn't lie and say that the feeling of dread and despair did nothing for her; it was definitely intoxicating and she had the notion had she stuck around she could have added to it greatly. It was just she wanted to see the ocean so she had to keep going.
(or at least that was what she was telling herself as she put as much distance between her and Scotland that she could)
She snorted now, taking another sip of her beer. "I have seen both. Thus ends the tour of the highlights of Mystic Falls. So, why here then? You really just wanted something the complete opposite of where you grew up?" There was a teasing tone in her voice but truthfully, she was hoping to understand why the brothers had ended up in Mystic Falls of all places. "Huh! Small world. But not really. I think everyone has to live in Los Angeles once right? I kind of liked all the people. It was easy to get lost in..." She realized that she had let slip something very truthful. She had gone there to avoid being found, to just slip into the crowd and only come up when she was good and ready. "You know, when you need that sort of thing." Her add on was said more casually in hopes that her statement would be dismissed.
She feigned sympathy (something she had practiced and gotten good at over the years). "Oh," she began, her features softening. "I am sorry. It can't be easy watching someone you love struggle like that. He probably is pushing you away too, huh?" Much like she had done with Iain --- if Raik was Remzi's emotional trigger than he probably wouldn't want him near.

Interesting was one way to put it. “It has its good areas.” That he rarely ventured into as a teenager. It was as if the locals knew him and Remzi didn’t belong there once they stepped into a richer neighbourhood. Eyes trained on them as they walked through the streets. Some would even go as far as clutching their bag a little too tightly, just like Raik sometimes would when he was walking home late to his house. He wasn’t a fighter like his brother, so he liked to avoid any sort of confrontation and would ignore casual insults thrown at him by others. An expert at turning the other cheek. Plus most of the time there was no need to even speak up because Remzi was already charging across the street, fists ready, leaving Raik sighing heavily as he followed his younger brother. So many people had asked him why they chose to come to Mystic Falls. Of course he remained tight lipped about the truth. “My brother has some friends here. We came to visit them but decided we liked the place so we stayed.” Remzi hadn’t chosen to stay, rather he was forced to stay for now. He knew his brother was itching for a lively city. A smile formed on his lips as he nodded, “Living there was an experience.” A place that was so far out of his comfort zone but Remzi was always behind him pushing him to experience more. Raik sighed softly, “Yeah… he is pushing me away… but I’m sure everything will go back to normal soon.” He had no idea what type of normal that was going to be, but he had to tell himself everything would be okay. “Sorry to offload my troubles onto you like that.” He was quick to add with a chuckle. It was easier to talk to a complete stranger. “So, um…” He cleared his throat, turning to Rose. The alcohol rushing through his veins was probably helping with his confidence. His eyes scanned the bar until he spotted the napkin holder. He pulled a few out before reaching over the bar for a pen. “I know you’ve seen the falls and stuff but if you like, um, well if you ever want a tour of Mystic Falls… or even, um… I don’t know… just meet up for a drink or something…” He rambled on as he scribbled his number down on the napkin, the pen tearing through the thin paper every now and then but it was still legible. He looked up at Rose, sliding the napkin across the bar with a smile, “Here’s my number.” He drew his bottom lip between his teeth, feeling his cheeks flush slightly. “It was really nice to meet you Rose.” He flashed her one last smile before sliding off the bar stool and leaving the bar. ROSE DAVENPORT - the end!
