The blonde didn’t even look up from her computer. Fingers rattled lightly over the keyboard, her dark eyes fixed on the screen. His own raked her face, slightly narrowed. He’d leaned in on the edge of the glossy counter when he’d walked in and, miraculously, he now realised, had gotten a smile out of her before he’d asked after her boss. For a little chat. Appointment? Nah. It was just off the cuff, y’know. A few minutes for a profile in the Daily. Bigging up the local business owners.
Not a single blink. God this one was hard work.
”Mr. Maddox is unavailable I’m afraid. For the rest of the day at least the very least. You’re welcome to email him.”
J.J. sucked his lower lip between his teeth, chewed meditatively before he shook his head. He’d cut his teeth on men and women who liked to play far harder to get and they had the official military secrets act on their side. ”Unavailable as in he ain’t seeing anyone right now or…” He pursed his lips, gesturing with a finger, swirling it in the air like he’d have Grey Maddox popping up genie style from some back room.
Her eyes came up to meet his then, the corners of her mouth dimpling with a satisfied little smile. ”Or he’s not available today. Email. Now, if you’re not here to book a room…” Her gaze cut to the doors as she pushed a plush little card across the desk to him. ‘Grey Haven Hotel’ and the email address the only things on it.
Standing, eyeing her, J.J. was tempted to book a room just for the hell of it. What was she gonna do then? Kick him out of the lobby for sitting there, lurking til he came strolling out. The man of mystery himself. ”I might y’know … bet you got some nice ones here. Suites.” He stepped back, the card disappearing into the pocket of his jeans. His tongue wormed into the pocket of his cheek as he rolled his eyes up towards the ceiling contemplatively. ”Guess I’ll be seein’ you tomorrow then.” She was already tilting her head at him when he backed out the door chuckling.
Or maybe before. He wasn’t above waiting on a story after all.
It’d been an hour since he’d walked out of the building. Fifteen minutes to walk over to the Coffee Bean and back again. A cup set down next to him as he’d sat on the steps of the building opposite. Some place all spiffed up with marble columns and stone stairs that hadn’t warmed enough in the sun to make sitting on them that long a pleasant experience. Half an hour in to the wait he’d tugged his phone out of his pocket. His brother was still in town but after all that had happened before he’d scattered he’d liked to keep him on a tether of sorts. Daily phone calls, that greasy feeling in the pit of his stomach if he didn’t pick up the phone when he called.
This time it had been three rings. The low voice at the other end. They’d shot the breeze for half an hour, the sort of mindless back and forth you indulged in when neither one of you really had anything but time on your hands. J.J. crooked a knee and shifted against the column he was leaning back on. ”Naw, still no sign of him. You’d think this Grey Maddox was Hugh Heffner with the way his guard dog went on. No photos online, no history I can track down anywhere. Shame you’re not enlisted anymore, I coulda done with a deeper dive into this bloke.” Or someone who was willing to talk.
At the shift of a shadow across his field of vision, J.J. looked up, squinting up at the woman silhouetted between the late afternoon sun and him. One sandy brow lifted, his lips curving as he tucked the phone against his neck for a moment. He could hear the buzz of his brother’s voice on the other end still but his focus was on her. ”Can I help you, love?” The Lieutenant-General would’ve grumbled at that. Proper diction, decorum, don’t make it look as though you’ve been raised by wolves instead of an officer in her Majesty’s army – a distant relative of hers too.

The hot piece in the workout clothes disturbed her last spying mission, although she wasn’t going to complain about that. The man was chiselled like a sculpture and kept her entertained for a while. Plus Grey had left in a vehicle and she had no way to follow him. Now she was back outside the hotel, this time in a different doorway a few buildings down. Watching and waiting. This time her attire wasn’t as bond villain though, with a decision to play it down a little. Destiny was her main victim though. Damian made it sound somewhat easy to invade a person's memories and change them around a little bit. It was something she was keen to try on Destiny. Delve deep to scrambled things up a little bit. Place a few bad memories of Grey here and there, making Destiny think he was as bad as her ex-boyfriend. Then with her out the way Grey would be all alone. Vulnerable and without backup, although it was questionable what kind of ‘back up Destiny could provide. The girl was fragile and naive, it was etched all over her face and displayed in her actions. Leah had her own backup now in the form of a six foot vampire with anger issues and a thirst for blood. When the time came, she would hope Remzi would be there for her. Not that she needed a bodyguard, but it was comforting to know there was someone there for her. Of course there was that part of her nibbling away that told her she couldn’t trust the vampire and he would turn his back on her in an instance, especially after all the shit she’d put him through. Telling him Raik was the better Durmaz, or leaving him in LA after giving him snippets of information about being a vampire. But her arrogance pushed through. There was no way Remzi would turn his back on her. He followed her all the way to Mystic Falls afterall. Killing Grey was just for her own selfish means though, also for her dad. Promising to return her half brother’s head on a stick, like some kind of trophy. Proof to the pack that she was unbeatable, even after being killed once. It was inevitable by now that Grey knew Leah was back from the dead, so she was even more careful to keep a low profile. She wanted him to know she was back, but forever looking over his shoulder. Waiting for her to pounce. Spying on someone was boring, particularly when it was someone as boring as Grey Maddox. The man’s life was duller than dishwater, with the only thing happening in his life was whatever was happening with Destiny. As per, Leah let her eye off the ball at the Blacklight party, thanks to Remzi, and didn’t spot the pair leave, whether it be separately or together. Leah hoped it was separately, keen to keep Destiny away from Grey, knowing the man would soon destroy the girl with the picnic blanket. A toxic trait that ran deep in that family. The inability to keep it in their pants. Blue eyes ticked up as she spotted someone across the road sitting down. The same person she saw leave the hotel not long ago, looking crestfallen and empty-handed. Now he too looked like he was waiting for something. She folded her arms, leaning against the wall behind her as she focused on his conversation. “... You’d think this Grey Maddox was Hugh Heffner…”Immediately she pushed herself up off the wall as she continued to listen. ...“Shame you’re not enlisted anymore, I coulda done with a deeper dive into this bloke”Leah moved out the doorway before strutting across the road towards the stranger. She glanced back towards the hotel for a moment to make sure Grey hadn’t made a sudden appearance. She stood at the bottom of the stairs, looking down at the male, “What’s Grey Maddox gotta do with you?” She demanded, folding her arms once more JJ HART

Be persistent.
The words had snapped out of his father’s mouth on a constant basis. Ground out at the dinner table – when he was there to command the head of it and not off in some corner of a ravaged company doing the same to his men – at his wife, spat at him as his dad had squatted on his level when he’d barely reached his hip, growled out at those same men as they’d stood in orderly ranks, sweating, muddied, exhausted.
Persistent, consistent, smart.
A hundred places worldwide he’d let the old man’s rhetoric rattle around in his head like a mantra. Wasn’t much else he’d said that’d stuck with him but those instructions had buried themselves deep, kept him going when his actions had everything beneath and around him falling apart.
J.J. kicked himself mentally now, letting them rattle around in his head again, knocking down his doubts and mental blocks like the tin ducks in one of those fairground games they had over here. Pew pew pew. Dropping with those tinny little pings as he spoke to his brother. He might not’ve spent more than a few scraps of time with the LG but that mind set had been tattooed into him, maybe even ground into their DNA. Inescapable as the sandy hair and aqua eyes.
”Why not do what she suggested? Rent a room. Go poking from there. It’s not like you haven’t gone sneaking around like that before.”
J.J. huffed out a breath before he paused. He weren’t that far off the mark. There’d been an American politician who’d landed in Baghdad. Set up in one of the faded jewels of the oldest part of the city. The hotel had been reserved for the big wigs, protected like it was Fort Knox not a battered stone barricading protecting the biggest bunch of assholes in a city that’d been ravaged by them. Wearing the LG’s name like a big bright shiny badge, he’d slipped in with a booking. Wide blue eyes and cow-towing promises to avoid the west wing of the place. Promises he’d shamelessly broken the first night and the second, before he’d been caught on the third, sitting in Junior Congressman Pincett’s room, peppering the bloke with questions like he was wielding a verbal version of the tactical shotgun he’d been shown the exit on the end of afterwards.
He’d hummed in consideration to that but it was the one mental point still standing when the shadow had fallen over him and revealed itself with a tumble of blonde hair and curves packed in to the point where he was staring up at the sort of thighs that could kill a bloke if he was so inclined.
Plucking the phone back out of the crook of his neck as she spat Maddox’s name back at him, J.J. pressed it back against his ear with a grin for her. ”Gonna have to call you back later, mate. The solution might just’ve strutted up to me.” He heard his brother laughing a ‘what?’ out down the phone but J.J. was already thumbing it off.
Didn’t matter that the woman was waiting for an answer, he took the time to slide it back into the hip pocket of his jeans and recline back on his elbows again – for the better angle of course. ”Hi.” The word crooned out, his grin stretching as he raised his brows at her. ”You his next line of defence? Gotta say if you are, he’s got stunning choice in bodyguards. You know, his type still usually go for the big and brawny, more muscles than brains.” Oh, but this one wasn’t. There was muscle there, he’d already admired that as she’d loomed over him but there was something else there behind those pale eyes.
J.J. clucked his tongue, slowly easing himself up until he was sitting again with his forearms propped on his knees. He tipped his head sideways in invite to pop herself down on the pew next to him. ”Just a little work thing. Want a chat with him after all, although I thought the one in there did plenty of the warning.” Next step probably woulda been Mystic Falls’ finest coming along to chivvy him outta town. ”Unless…” J.J. drawled, narrowing his eyes at her as that grin went all cat that got the cream. ”… you got something to do with him that don’t involve guarding his backside. That it love?” If it was then that edge of interest in her just got razor bloody sharp.

Leah didn’t trust anyone who uttered Grey’s name, immediately assuming the other person was on Grey’s side, but this male however sounded like he wanted some dirt on her half-brother. Something juicy, something which she could provide. Leah had all the dirt on him, and would talk for the right price. She was there to take Grey’s life, but if she could ruin his reputation in the meantime then so be it. It looked like he’d built quite the life for himself in Mystic Falls. A cute girl hanging off one arm and a fancy hotel in the middle of town. It was unacceptable. She wanted to rip everything from his arms, bit by bit, just how he ripped her life away from her. No one else was going to avenge her death though. She spent years on the other side waiting for someone to step up and announce they were going after Grey, but no one did. Her non-biological dad had toyed with the idea every now and then, but was quickly shot down by her mom, telling him it wasn’t worth it. Leah was gone and they needed to move on with their lives, which for her mom was easy, but she still had to play pretend for a few years thereafter. Pretend she missed Leah and pretended she was grieving the death of daughter, but realistically it was a weight off her shoulders. Leah, Grey and Malcolm had all gone, giving her the chance to work on her ever failing marriage. A weak attempt to put it back together despite the fact it was shattered beyond repair. Her mom was delusional though, telling herself everything could be resolved now the others had gone. And people wondered why Leah was the way she was. Delusion about her own behaviour and goals in life. It was painful to watch from the other side her mom failed to fix something that was so clearly broken, but there were times Steven almost cracked under the pressure. Almost forgave his wife for cheating on him, as Leah was invisible, screaming and shouting at him from beyond the grave. Thankfully he didn’t cave and their marriage remained bitter and hateful, even to this day, but they put on a face for the pack. Fake love, making everyone believe things were going great behind closed doors. It was an Oscar-worthy performance at times. “Gonna have to call you back later, mate. The solution might just’ve strutted up to me.” The stranger was in no rush to answer Leah’s question, which had her body growing tense and her jaw stiffening. She’d give him another three seconds before grabbing him by the throat and forcing the answer out of him. “Line of defence?” She arched a brow, her arms still tight across her chest. There was a compliment hidden in his comment, but she batted it away in an instant. She wasn’t about to become preoccupied like before by a handsome male who had a way with words. The male invited her to sit with him, she eyed him for a moment as she rocked back on the heels of her feet. A low hum in her throat as she lowered herself down onto the step next to him. “I’m not guarding that piece of shit” She scoffed, her eyes now back on the hotel, “Why do you want to chat with him?” She eased back onto the step behind her for support, “Maybe it’s something I can help you with? I’m related to him” It could be dangerous announcing herself as a relative of Grey, but she would swiftly be taking the stranger on that stairway upstairs or downstairs if he tried anything she didn’t like. Wasn’t often he went after anything without some major agenda. Wrongs to right in a world that felt all wrong some days. Blowing the lid off of things people foolishly thought best locked away. Revealing hidden tragedies to people who could do something about them. He’d thrown himself into all sorts of noble pursuits and had paid the price for it in those pink slips and days locked up in places that made the worst prisons here look like bloody club med.
’J.J., can’t you find something else to work on, how about Westminster, I’m sure there would be enough excitement in Parliament. Your father could…’
Put a word in? Maybe but he had no intention of sitting in the press gallery, bored to tears while he waited for one of the hypocritical pricks to be caught fumbling with one of his mistresses in a back hallway of the Houses or for one to end up with her hand in a cookie jar. That woulda been a death sentence. Just the thought was enough to J.J. grimacing faintly as he hung the phone up. His brother might not’ve minded it too much after the mess he’d still only half admitted to – the peaceful life here. A white picket fence, none of that argy-bargy in a dust bowl somewhere. Constant combat leaving everything inside of him shaking.
Alive though.
Too many more months here without a sniff of something more than a mountain lion with a taste for a little of the other white meat and they’d be putting his obituary in the Daily. Joshua J. Hart – dead of boredom. All too possible. Unless…
The smile had gotten him everywhere before, there’d been times it’d also bought the fury of a woman immune to his immeasurable charms down on him but who was gonna try and split that hair. Maybe this one’d take some work. Her jaw was stiffening, tension running through in a way that might’ve had him flinching faintly in anticipation of the crack of a palm or the burning score of nails across his face – if he was a lesser man.
J.J. hummed lightly, his head tilting bird like to regard her before he tipped his chin up in the direction of the hotel where the other blonde probably had her nose pressed to those shiny glass doors to watch out for him. ”’tween the plebs and his nibs in there. You met her? The blonde bulldog who’s got a hundred ways of saying ‘get lost mate’.” He’d seen women like that one on bases though. It might’ve been a cliché but they were formidable. You wouldn’t get close to the LG without going through his people first and they could have you cut off at the knees – or somewhere more delicate – in seconds flat.
This one would’ve fit right in, although not with Grey Maddox’s image of a pair of brawny security guards bracketing this scrawny little worm. She was giving him the time of day for one thing, perching on the step next to him. J.J. lifted his brows as he leaned in a couple of inches towards her. ”Sounds like you know him then,” he suggested cheekily. One blue eye winked. And if she knew him then he was gonna get to know her. Dirt was gonna pour out of this one, he could feel it in his bones.
He laced his hands between his knees, thumbs tapping restlessly against his knuckles. Coulda been a ploy he guessed. Find out when he knew and then turn everything that spilled out of his mouth against him. Would’ve been what he’d have tried had this been the other way around. ”I’m … oh really now?” Anybody who’d spent more than ten minutes around him would’ve been wary of the sudden shift in his posture. An edge cut into his blue eyes, the smile turning great white shark predatory. ”Related and bitter enough about it to tell someone all about it?” J.J. clucked his tongue lightly. He reached into his pocket, smirked as he extracted a card from his inside pocket and offered it up to her between two fingers like he had done with the other one. ”I’m a journalist. Was gonna write a puff peace on your relative for the Daily but it looks like he’s got a little something he don’t want me digging into. Stonewall a journalist and they’re always gonna come back with a sledge hammer. J.J. Hart.” He announced it almost like she should recognise the name, offering up his other hand to her to shake.

It was a toss-up between batting her eyelashes at this handsome gentleman, or demanding answers from him. He uttered Grey’s name so there was no time for flirting, she wanted to know why he was seeking her half-brother. She’d always joked with her childhood friends that she’d be the one to die young. Living life in the fast lane, with no intention of slowing down. Despite her joking, she never thought it would come true, but it was a blessing. She couldn’t think of anything worse than growing old and wrinkly. Now, she could stay this hot forever. Glowing complex, bouncing blonde hair and an envious hourglass figure. Meanwhile, her childhood friends were ageing every single day, trying to find themselves, someone, to settle down with and have kids before it was too late. Obviously, having kids was never going to be on the agenda for Leah now, which she was thankful for. She’d always been far too selfish to have kids. Happy to spend her wages on getting her nails done or a new pair of shoes. Despite her lack of income, it didn’t stop her from sporting a fresh manicure and a new dress every weekend. If Cory had told her this whole reaper shit was unpaid she might have thought twice about it. Hell didn’t seem that bad anyway. Hannya made it sound like a playground down there. Cute demons walking around plus it was hot. She could have easily been dragged off to her own personal hell if she accepted the hand of that burning man that came from her at the start. Working as a waitress in some cheap ass restaurant or on the tills in Walmart. Somewhere she would have to provide a service to someone. It was stomach turning. She was quick to bolt off away from whoever came to collect her, or at least her soul. As soon as she woke up in limbo she knew she was fucked. Her soul had been racking up the marks since she was a child. Stealing lunch money off the smaller kids or circulating cruel rumours around school about other girls. She could have redeemed herself, but instead, she chose to wander off into the darkness. Embracing everything her mom told her she’d be. Leah cast a look back towards the hotel, before returning her gaze to the stranger, “Nah. I’ve yet to venture inside” Probably never would either, otherwise she’d be on Grey’s territory. “She sounds pleasant though” Not that she had any room to talk. Yet to flash any hint of kindness to anyone, even Remzi had failed to warm through her thick ice exterior. There had been times he warmed through the first few layers, but never to the core. She refused to let him and it was unlikely he ever would. He could be just as vindictive as her. Playing on each other's feelings constantly, the ones they deny for one another. She was always looking for a way to drive that knife deeper. She joined him on the steps. Now he was the one playing the flirting game. Edging towards her, winking at her. She flashed him a cold look. Leah was always keen to get to know good-looking strangers, but she wasn’t prepared to fuck with this one Yet. Bitter. She always had been, refusing to let anyone get one up on her. Possibly why she and Remzi were now stuck in this childish game of making each other jealous. Thinking back, she could even remember who started it all. Whether it was Remzi speaking to another girl in the club, or whether it was Leah grinding on another man in view of Remzi. “I have my reasons” Reasons she couldn’t exactly share with the male. She took hold of the card, twirling it between her fingers as she examined it. “I hope this is your personal number and not your work number” She slipped the card into the top pocket of her jacket, “Otherwise you’ll have to give me that too” A flash of a smile, her expression warmer now. “J.J Hart? You do sound like a journalist with that name” She could picture it now etched at the end of each article, “Leah Sivan” She took hold of his hand, giving him a somewhat firm shake. “What kinda thing doesn’t he want you digging around in? Grey Maddox has a lot of business he doesn’t want people looking into” She released her grip on JJ, lowering her hand onto her own lap. JJ HART

If there was one thing people in this town had it was balls. None of them were too afraid to show you either. They walked around like they owned the place and alright, maybe, in a few cases they did, but they all acted like that. The Founding Families were above the law, it seemed, and although the boss’ bloke definitely hadn’t come from one of them – the estuary English accent was a dead giveaway – he still acted like he was. He’d watched Grey Maddox swagger into the news room, barely a glance cast at the rest of them before he disappeared into Destiny’s office. Hadn’t taken him five minutes to start digging into the bloke – he was only watching out for the boss lady, honest guv – to pin him down to here. And only five minutes for his major domo to kick him. J.J. Hart, formerly of the Beeb, gave him no more weight there than it had done in that tiny police station in South Sudan. Shame.
At least it looked like he wasn’t the only one. One sandy brow hitched as this one told him she hadn’t been inside the hotel to catch a look at the prettier version of Bib Fortuna. Blue eyes narrowing faintly beneath to show off the fan of fine lines at the corners of his eyes, scored there by years in places sunny and dusty enough to leave you looking like old Clint every time you stepped outside. If she hadn’t been able to talk her way in there then maybe he was truly screwed.
J.J. clucked his tongue, one corner of his mouth twitching. If the two of them was to stroll in there and drop a credit card on the glossy counter – his own black card and not the thing with a five hundred dollar limit the paper had issued him – was the manager likely to crack open a suite door for him or had he already been black balled? Maybe worth checking out at some point if this new little avenue failed.
He snorted, shaking his head as he settled back. Blue eyes ticked back up to her. J.J. tipped his chin up towards the place. ”Should try it, at least for a taste of the glorious customer service.” Would they recognise her if she did? Maybe the familiarity only went one way, just like his own. He’d have called the manager as pleasant as a dose of something antibiotic resistant but he kept that little comparison to himself. ”Just delightful,” he crooned instead. Maybe that was why Maddox had hired her. Although, if that was his type then what the hell was Destiny doing with him?
Was that a touch of protectiveness towards the elfin little boss woman? Jeebers. He tapped his knuckles against his chest just the once before he’d leaned in to the slightly friendlier blonde. Destiny could handle herself for the minute. If the story he was pulling together happened to have her seeing the bloke with different eyes then so be it. There was always the Courier if this got him in the shit.
He met the cold look his questions earned him with an added layer of warmth. In the short time he’d been in the hotel he hadn’t managed to melt the other ice maiden’s heart but this one was bitter towards Maddox, he had a chance here. J.J. hummed at her blunt response, tilting his head a moment. ”I imagine you do. I’m a pretty good listener, if you ever wanna unburden them.” He raised a hand, tapped his own shoulder. A decent place to lean on, if you didn’t mind what you said being stamped out in newsprint the next day. Chances with this one had been low but oh, maybe he had her on the line after all. J.J. tapped a finger against the back of the card as she spun it. ”Business up front, personal on the back,” he promised. Wasn’t much point in just directing them to the office when he was barely ever there.
Throwing his head back, J.J. bellowed out a laugh. The LG would’ve had a fit over that. He’d never really liked the idea, even if had opened some doors for him. The dutiful son was the one he’d had nothing to do with. ”Glad to hear it,” he assured her. J.J. let his hand linger a second longer, even if she’d pumped his hand with the sort of confidence few women mustered up. ”Pleasure to make your acquaintance, Leah.” He started to straighten up as their hands parted, fingers patting at his pocket to make sure his trusty notebook was there. ”That’s what I’m planning to find out. A man like that’s gotta stepped on a few toes building up his little empire. He seems the Howard Hughes type to me – you know, a real secret squirrel. Dirty business dealings, dodgy partners, money schemes, there’s gotta be something of the sort.” J.J. propped his elbows back on his knees, studying her sideways. ”You wanna get out of here and tell me a little bit about that business he don’t want people prying into, Leah?” Charm always seemed to work better when you didn’t have someone glaring at your from a mountain of glass and steel.

As a whole, Leah knew she wasn’t particularly a good person, but Grey brought out an even worse side of her. In fact, the whole of the Maddox’s family did. She was hoping once he was dead, resting in hell with his parents, an element of darkness would be lifted from her. Maybe she’d find that tiny piece of good that was left in her. A piece that buried so deep that it hadn’t seen the light of day for years, or maybe there was just so much bad pumping through her veins she was doomed to be like this forever. A bitchy manipulative reaper with no concern for anyone around her. There was no way she would be checking out the interior of the hotel or tapping her card to pay for a room. Outside is where she would stay unless she was dragged inside to do her job. A possibility that was almost certain in this death-filled town. It was on the tip of her tongue to unload her bullshit story about how Grey tried to kill her, but this guy was some kind of journalist. She didn’t need those lies plastered across the front of some local newspapers, bringing attention to herself. Not only for her own sake, but no doubt Death would have something to say about that. One quick google of her name and a few clicks deep you’d find an obituary for Leah. Didn’t it even matter though? She would be in Death’s bad books after killing Grey and there was a chance she could be stripped of her reaper title. Thrown downstairs with the rest of the evil souls. It was a price she was willing to pay to see him suffer through. Both of them, in hell for eternity. Wasn’t Destiny some kind of journalist though? Fuck. A thought that crossed her mind after sharing her real name with J.J. Hopefully she could do some damage to their relationship via this handsome-looking man. Stir the pot by spilling some lies to J.J in the hope they would be drip-fed back to Destiny, without the mention of Leah’s name. If Destiny knew the words came from Leah’s mouth there was no hope of her believing it. The poor girl would always believe Grey, even if there were lies coming out of his mouth. She wondered how much of the truth he’d actually shared with his side piece. He’d probably shared more with her than Leah ever would with Remzi. Why would she even share her life story with the vampire who was only going to be in her life temporarily? Leah eased back onto the step behind her, leg extending forward as she made herself comfortable. Ready to throw Grey under the bus. “Oh he’s the dodgy type, alright. He fled from the UK under some mysterious circumstances. There were rumours that he’d tried to kill someone and it failed. Now he’s out here hiding in this town” Like the coward he was. She broke into a wide smile when J.J suggested they go somewhere else and speak about Grey. “Sure. I’ve got a lot to say about him… he’s a real dodgy guy. A bad egg” Rotten from the inside out, like the rest of his family . “Here’s the deal though J.J… I tell you everything I know about Grey and you don’t utter my name to anyone else” It wasn’t even a question, more of a statement. Basically, do as you're told and you live to see another day. She got to her feet, dusting off herself as soon as she rose. “You can buy me a coffee” She glanced back at him, flashing him a sweet grin before she turned back around, making her way towards Coffee Bean.
