Growing up she’d always been gifted academically. In those days there wasn’t such a big push for people to go to college or university, especially not in their neighbourhood. You were lucky if you got to stay on to school until 16. Most left earlier and started helping out their parents in what ways they could manage. Her sisters, all except for Alice, hadn’t made it to 16 at the local school. Some had left when they were just twelve or thirteen to take up jobs. Olivia knew it had broken her mum’s heart a little but as a single parent she didn’t have the luxury of turning down the help. Florence had been a proud woman but she’d always been a sensible one, generous to her children where she could be, logical when her circumstances wouldn’t allow her to be more generous. She’d hoped of course, and for the most part Olivia had kept those hopes to herself. Maybe she could work her way up in a shop and perhaps end up a bookkeeper or become a governess or teacher at some point. Not exactly lofty goals but reasonable for the time maybe. The war had given her a bigger opportunity though. Women were not allowed into combat then, not unless they were nursing on the front lines. They were able to use their brains though. Some ended up in intelligence, cracking the codes the enemy had been using, she’d ended up on the guns. Until the day she died, hopefully hundreds of years from now, she’d never forget the pride that had rippled through her when she’d put on her uniform for the first time. That pride had hidden nerves but on the night that the bomb had almost destroyed their entire emplacement she’d found a strength she’d never known she’d possessed. That strength had gotten her through a lot over the years. If it had been needed the time she would’ve called on every ounce of it to get
As a friend she would’ve done it but they had become so much more than that the moment Henrik had found the courage to kiss her. Now she’d have fought even demon, and that was a terrifying idea, if she needed to. She knew Henrik wouldn’t have wanted her to but when you were in love with someone it was what you did. That was probably in the small print too. Raising her brows, Olivia chuckled. ”If you’ve got a print out of all of that I’d love to read it and see what else I’m missing out on.” Nothing, she thought, taking another bite of pizza, this was pretty damn perfect as it was. Even with Henrik having been gone for days. She would take that over him not coming back any day of the week. Letting out a long breath, she touched her lips to his chest, over his heart. ”I love that you’re protecting me from all of that,” Olivia said hoarsely. ”I’ve faced the unknown before and if it means I get to fight to keep you, I’ll do it again and again and again.” George had encouraged her to believe in that and Henrik had just cemented it. Olivia’s free hand fumbled, found his and squeezed it. ”I’m sure I’ll get to see him soon enough,” she promised. Not today though, today she needed to coax Henrik into getting a little more rest. The pub could run without her for the rest of the night. ”You’ll be back at work when you feel up to it.” Olivia fluttered her lashes, acting like butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth as she propped herself back on one elbow. ”Nope.” Chuckling, she propped her head on her hand as she watched Henrik finish his slice of pizza and then levered himself to his feet. ”I would’ve said are you sure about that but I don’t think you’re up for anything but rest.” Olivia allowed him to tug her up and then kept his hands in hers as she towed Henrik towards his bedroom. Sleep, first, everything else later.

Henrik had never thought that he would end up finding anything close to what he had in Mystic Falls when Crowley brought him back. For eight years his life had consisted of learning as much about magic as he could and carrying out the missions that Crowley asked of him but the demon had still become a constant presence in his life and now Henrik couldn’t help but think of him as his father just as much as Mikael was. He would be lying if he said that he hadn’t felt betrayed when he had learned that his siblings were still alive after all and that Crowley had kept that from him but now that was all in the past. He had built a life for himself in Mystic Falls surrounded by his family and he had found more friends than he would have expected. There was more than that though, he had also found Olivia again and he knew that he didn’t want to be without her. He hadn’t planned on falling in love with her but he was pretty sure that that was what had happened even though he hadn’t actually said those words to her out loud. She was the first woman that he had ever felt like this about and he knew that it was different for her after everything that had happened with George but deep down Henrik knew that that didn’t matter. He had chosen to let Olivia into his heart and it was a decision that he knew that he was never going to regret. He knew that he had an amazing thing going for him in Mystic Falls and he had known that he could be risking that by returning to Hell to free Castiel but he had known that he wouldn’t be able to forgive himself if he let someone who didn’t deserve to be there remain a prisoner so it was something that he had known that he’d needed to do. As it was there was a connection with Cas that he couldn’t quite put his finger on and he knew that it would annoy him until he was able to figure it out but right now he had other things to think about. He knew that Olivia would have been worried about him and that was something that he hadn’t wanted to happen but he was home now so she didn’t have to worry any longer at least. He knew that she would have gone with him if he’d asked but it had been dangerous and he had known that he wouldn’t be able to get Cas out of there in one piece if he’d been worrying about her as well so he knew that he had made the right decision. He was glad to see her again, though, and as she spoke he couldn’t help but laugh. “I’ll see if I can find it,” he chuckled as he took another bite of the slice of pizza he was holding. He had wanted to get back home so badly and now that Olivia was with him he knew that he was right where he belonged. “I know you will but I really hope it won’t come to that,” he admitted. He had become pretty good at looking after himself over the last few years so he knew that he could face most things that came his way and if he was able to keep Olivia out of it all and make sure that she was safe then he knew that he would do it. “You will, I’ll make sure of it,” Henrik nodded. It wasn’t safe for Crowley to be out of hiding right now but when it was he knew that he wanted the two of them to meet. “I’ll be back at work tomorrow. A good night’s sleep will do wonders for me,” he assured her. He could see that Olivia was still concerned but there really wasn’t any need for her to be so he knew that he would stick to his guns if he had to. “You’re right but the morning will be a different story. I really did miss you,” he admitted, using their joined hands to draw Olivia in for a kiss before following her into the bedroom. OLIVIA CAMPBELL

You could go one of two ways after you lost someone close to you. You could gather everybody else you loved close and made sure that you made every single moment you had with them count, or you could wall yourself off. Thanks to the hunters she’d had no option but the latter after George had died. Running that night Olivia hadn’t known when she could stop. How long would those hunters continue to search for those they hadn’t been able to slaughter in their village that night? Three had died at their hands, the chances were the number would grow if they ever decided to make another move, or they managed to follow the breadcrumb trail to her that she’d tried so hard to hide. For years afterwards she hadn’t allowed her shields down, constantly on the move, never allowing anybody too close. From time to time she would reach out, to Nick and Lauren, to her family in London, albeit in the guise of her own granddaughter, but for the most part Olivia kept herself walled off. Until, that was, Henrik had walked right through them. That little voice in the back of her head had warned her from the moment that they started to grow close that there was a chance she could lose him too. Pushing him away simply wasn’t an option though, even if she had thought it possible, how she’d felt the last couple of days had proved to her that even if she wanted to now, there was no way she could remain walled off to Henrik. She loved him, there was no way she could deny it now.
Love was an incredible thing but it came with clauses. Most small, some huge but so meaningful that they underlined everything you felt. She hadn’t expected Henrik’s playful offer to be her servant but hearing him continue to joke about it had lightened the weight that had been heavy in her heart for days. Olivia made a low sound in her throat, pretending to pat his pockets down with a free hand for a moment. ”Don’t worry if you can’t, I think a verbal agreement’s just as sacrosanct in this case.” The two had been bound together with little more until the night Henrik had kissed her. The thought of how easily they’d slipped in this added a warmth to her chest as she polished off her slide of pizza. Like she had with George, she would fight for this love with everything she had, even if Henrik wanted to save her from that fight. She could cross her fingers and hold them up all she wanted but the realist in her knew that most of the time you couldn’t avoid the fight. ”We can hope,” she whispered. Wanting to reassure him about Crowley, Olivia had slipped her hand into his, squeezed it tight as she offered him a hopeful smile. ”Good. I need to thank the man who raised you.” One of the men who’d raised him. His biological parents had done that til he’d passed the first time and then, incredibly, it had been the King of Hell. Propping herself up on her elbow to look down at him, Olivia made a dubious sound in her throat. ”We’ll see,” she said sweetly. ”I don’t want to see you walking around the place like a zombie.” He could argue it all he wanted but at least if she was in his bed tonight, she could make sure he stayed there as long as he needed to in the morning. ”It will be, sleep first though. I missed you too. I missed this, I missed waking up to you.” Olivia smiled into the kiss, the smile staying put as she led Henrik into the bedroom. Stopping next to the bed, she began to peel his shirt off.

For years after he was brought back Henrik had only had one constant in his life who cared about him and that was Crowley. He had done everything that the demon had asked of him and deep down Henrik knew that he had wanted to please him. His biological father had never been much of one, there had been absolutely no pleasing Mikael and even though his siblings had protected him from their father’s wrath as much as possible he had still seen what the guy had put them all through. He hadn’t known what it was like to have a father who genuinely cared about him until first Castiel came into his life and then Crowley. When he was ripped out of Heaven his memories of his time there had been sealed away from him, he knew that wasn’t Crowley’s doing but he had felt like something was missing from his life and a bond had formed between the two of them that Henrik definitely hadn’t expected. He hadn’t seen Mikael since he was brought back but he had the angel and demon in his life who had raised him and even though his memories of Cass hadn’t yet come back to him completely the guy still felt like family so he knew that he couldn’t ask for anymore than that. Finding his family again when he got to Mystic Falls had been a bonus but finding Olivia again felt like fate. They had started growing closer and Henrik knew that he didn’t deserve this chance at life that he had been given but he knew that he would be foolish not to take it. He hadn’t expected to fall for her but that was exactly what had happened and even after Crowley told him that someone was being held captive in Hell he had known that he was going to do everything in his power to make it back to Olivia like he had promised. It had been an eventful few days but the moment he had sent those texts to Olivia and Elijah to let them know that he was back he had felt like he was home. “Remind me to be careful what I say around you,” Henrik chuckled. He knew that he didn’t really need to be careful, he trusted Olivia completely and he knew in his heart that he loved her. She was his first love and even though he knew that he wasn’t hers considering that she had been married before, he knew how much they meant to each other so he was certain that no matter what happened they would make it work. It had taken him a while to work up the courage to kiss her and he had known that by doing so he might end up putting everything that had been building up between them on the line if it wasn’t what Olivia wanted but thankfully he didn’t have to worry about that and for that he was truly grateful. He had experienced a lot of firsts with Olivia already considering that he was only thirteen when he died and things were very different back then but he knew that there wasn’t anyone else that he would rather be with so he wasn’t ashamed to admit that. Olivia knew so much about him and she knew that this was all new to him and she had been more patient than he ever could have imagined. As Olivia agreed that it hopefully wouldn’t come to her having to fight to keep him with her, Henrik felt a smile form on his face. “I love you even more for even being prepared to fight for me,” he admitted. He wasn’t used to having people like that in his corner but it was definitely something that he could get used to, that was for sure. “You’ll get the chance,” he nodded. “I’d like you to meet Cass at some point too, he’s the angel I saved. I can’t explain it but he feels like family too and he recognised the chess piece I had with me when Crowley brought me back,” he explained. He was sure that he would figure out their connection in time but right now it was puzzling to say the least. He still wanted Olivia to meet the angel, though, and he hoped that sooner or later it would happen. “I won’t, I promise. I’ve left you in the lurch for long enough, the least I can do is spare you another shift with Ares,” he shrugged. He still felt bad about that and about the fact that Olivia had been so worried about him but he was back now and he knew that he wanted to make it all up to her. “I’ve missed you too, I never realised how much I’ve grown used to waking up next to you each morning until I left,” he admitted. It was something that he had perhaps taken for granted but he knew that he wasn’t going to do that again. Following Olivia through to his bedroom, Henrik didn’t offer any resistance as she pulled his shirt off and his lips met hers in a gentle kiss that he only broke as he lifted her shirt over her head as well. He had promised that they were only going to sleep for now but he couldn’t deny that he had missed the feeling of Olivia’s lips against his own. OLIVIA CAMPBELL

She listened. Whether it was a hold out of living in a house with more than a dozen people who tended to all talk over one another or a wariness born of what had happened with George. Either way she’d found herself someone who soaked up those details. A shoulder to lean on for people around her, Olivia thought, and she’d tried to do that with her bar, Campbell’s becoming a hub for the community in a different way to the Grill, and for her friends. Henrik had been one of those before what was between them had started to slide in another direction. She listened to his stories that first time they’d met and had happily sat for hours since, comfortable enough with him for the two of them to just be happy in each other’s company, trusting the other with all those little memories that probably didn’t mean much to anybody who hadn’t been in them but were so special to those who were.
She knew him. She took pride in it.
That pride shone in her eyes as she gave him an innocent grin. Hazel eyes ticked up from the pockets she’d been pretending to pat down to meet his. Wide and guileless even as she chuckled and shrugged at him. ”I’ve got a great memory, can’t help it.” Olivia gave a little sigh, raised that hand to tap fingers against her temple. It all got stored away up there, good or bad. Mingling, boiling sometimes to leave her a little breathless with worry or joy.
It did that now, thick in her throat as she’d swallowed the last of her pizza. Her hand had maybe gotten greasy with it but she slipped it into Henrik’s anyway, squeezing tight as he smiled at her. Olivia smiled, leaning in to kiss him softly. Tenderly. ”Always,” she promised hoarsely. Her expression grew serious for a moment. ”I love you too.” The words were raw with honesty. She’d never expected to be able to say them to anybody else but the universe had given her another gift. A man who heal her heart and show her that it was OK to love again. Her lips skimmed his cheek, his jaw before she propped herself up on her elbow. The grin tugged at her lips, a little brighter, a little more teasing. ”Your two dads,” she chuckled. ”I would too. Anybody who’s your family is my family too and it sounds like he feels the same about you.” You fought for family. You walked into the depths of hell for them.
After decades on the road alone it felt incredible to know that she had family here again. People who fought for her, people she would give her life for. Even Ares. Olivia clucked her tongue, nudging him with her hip as she rolled against him. There’d been a good reason that he was gone and she wasn’t about to wear him out further by getting him back behind the bar too soon. ”I love you for that too,” she promised, knowing that she would’ve taken Ares’ help, disastrous or not. She’d missed having Henrik there though, acutely enough that he had her throat and heart aching now. Tears pricked at the back of her eyes as she kissed him again, pouring that ache into it. ”That makes two of us. I don’t want to wake up alone again in the morning.” She wanted to be able to reach out and find him there right beside her, a reassuring warmth to wrap herself around. In the cool dark of the bedroom she helped him undress, her fingers peeling his shirt off, drifting to his shoulders for a moment before his lips were on hers. Then he was tugging her shirt over her head. Olivia smiled, unbuttoning her jeans, kicking them away before she reached for the button on his too.
