HERETICSHeretics are a very rare species that to most never should have come into existence. Being born a siphoner witch or warlock leaves a person open to persecution even by their own kind but being turned into a vampire causes them to be turned into something else entirely. When a siphoner is turned into a vampire they wake up in transition just like humans do however they have a limited window of time in which to save their siphoner abilities. Before they complete the transition siphoners are able to channel some magic they are able to siphon into an amulet and through contact with that amulet they are able to use magic even after they have become vampires known as heretics. The magic isn't an indefinite supply, it needs to be topped up every so often by a witch or warlock to make sure that they do not run out. If the amulet ever runs out completely heretics lose their ability to do magic and revert back to being regular vampires. These amulets can also double up as a daylight amulet.
There are currently only six known siphoners in the world and over a century ago they fell under the leadership of Lily Salvatore, Damon and Stefan's mother, after they were turned by her. In 1903 a powerful coven known as the Gemini coven decided that it was down to them to take down the heretics after they slaughtered over a thousand people and the coven worked together to trap the heretics along with Lily in a prison world through the use of an ascendant where they remained trapped until recently.
Please note Our versions of heretics differ from those seen in the show as outlined above. Valerie Tulle was the first person to become a heretic so any others must be younger than her.

HORSEMENKnown commonly as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the Horsemen are powerful entities that personify the four prime concepts that drive the apocalypse. There are only four Horsemen known in existence - War, Famine, Pestilence and Death - and they can only manifest by possessing a human host. Death is the eldest of the Horsemen and has existed alongside God ever since the beginning although it isn't known how the other Horsemen came into being.
The Horsemen are aligned with neither Heaven nor Hell although they have been known to follow Lucifer's orders in the past although this is against their will in most cases. Lucifer is able to force the loyalty of the Horsemen but when left to their own devices they are only loyal to each other. Unknown to all but a select few, the rings worn by the Horsemen when combined are the keys to Lucifer's Cage in Hell which give them the power to lock Lucifer away or release him as they see fit.
Each Horseman has a special ring that helps them channel their core ability and without the ring they lose most, if not all, of their powers. The only power they are able to use without their rings is teleportation although Death has also been able to retain his omniscience.
Please note One of the rules to keep reality in check is that when one incarnation of Death dies, the next Reaper to die is reincarnated as the new Death.

HUNTERSHunters are people who know about the supernatural and fight against them to protect others from harm. Most hunters are humans who have found out about the supernatural world either through being attacked or losing someone to it themselves but there are also families of hunters that span back generations and see it as their job to protect innocent people from the threat of the supernatural world. The most well known of these families are the Campbells, the Winchesters and the Argents but there are also organisations such as the Men of Letters who see it as their job to eradicate all supernatural creatures from the world regardless of whether or not they actually hurt people. Other hunters have been known to use their discretion about who they kill and some prefer to leave supernatural creatures who are just trying to live their lives in peace alone.
Not all hunters are human but they all have a certain degree of knowledge of the supernatural, albeit some more than others. All hunters regardless of whether they are human or not use their knowledge and skills to protect those around them from the horrors of the world.
Creation: Being born into the life; deciding to protect others or hunt down a certain creature after experiencing trauma. Abilities: Knowledge of the supernatural; combat, weaponry and tracking skills. Obvious Weaknesses: All weaknesses of their species.

HYBRIDSHybrids are a recent addition to the supernatural world and have been created by Klaus Mikaelson. Hybrids were either born werewolves and triggered their curses or transformed naturally when they reached maturity or they were bitten by an Alpha prior to dying with Klaus' blood in their system. A number of werewolves failed to complete the transition into hybrids while Klaus and Stefan travelled around the country together before Klaus discovered that the key to creating these creatures was ensuring that they drank the blood of a doppelganger in order to complete the transition.
Now that he has obtained Elena's blood, Klaus has everything he needs to create the hybrid army that he so desperately desires. Hybrids possess the strengths and weaknesses of both vampires and werewolves and due to their mixed DNA they are able to walk around during the day without the need of a daylight amulet and can also transform into a wolf at will without having to wait for the full moon's influence. As a mixture of vampires and werewolves, hybrids are not forced to transform during each full moon and they can half shift at any time to increase their strength and senses. They do however need to drink blood in order to function and will desiccate if they fail to do so. They are powerful but can be killed by older vampires and other supernatural creatures alike.
Eye colour The colour of a hybrid's eyes follow the same pattern as those of a werecreature. Their eyes glow blue if they have taken a life and gold if they haven't while an Alpha's eyes are red with gold flecks.
Status Hybrids are betas if they are part of a pack or omegas if they decide that they are better off on their own. The only way a hybrid can become an Alpha is by killing an Alpha werecreature.
Creation: Werewolves that died with Klaus' blood in their system and drank doppelganger blood to complete the transition. HYBRIDS - ORIGINAL HYBRIDThis is the rarest of all supernatural species and there is in fact only one of these in the world - Klaus Mikaelson. Born due to the union between a witch mother and a werewolf father, Klaus was turned into a vampire by magic rather than through dying with vampire or hybrid blood in his system. After becoming an Original Vampire he triggered his curse by killing a human and his werewolf side was bound by Esther in an attempt to atone for her affair. Over a year ago Klaus broke the curse that was placed on him by his mother and became the Original Hybrid once more. He is able to transform into his wolf form at will and has the abilities of both an Original Vampire and a werewolf. His strength and speed are increased during the full moon and half shifting can enhance his abilities at any time and due to his mixed genetics he is slightly more powerful than his siblings. His blood is also capable of curing a werewolf bite.
Creation: Born a werewolf and turned into an Original Vampire. HYBRIDS - OTHER HYBRIDSThroughout the world most supernatural species can be defined however there are certain unions between members of the supernatural world that cannot be defined. Throughout history members of certain magical bloodlines have been known to fall for supernatural creatures and if the witch or warlock is a member of a powerful magical bloodline any child conceived between the two can be born a mixture of the two species. This is how Klaus came to be the Original Hybrid and retained magic in his blood which could be passed on to his daughter Hope. It is important to note, however, that not all children born to a witch or warlock from a powerful bloodline and a supernatural creature have to follow this rule, in some instances they are born sharing the same species as just one of their parents.
The only magical bloodlines that are strong enough to create natural hybrids so far are the Mikaelsons, the Bennetts, the Claires, the Petrovas and the Salvatores. Any others must be cleared with the staff first.
Creation: Born. Abilities: Mixture of abilities depending on their species. Obvious Weaknesses: Weaknesses depending on their species.

IMMORTALSImmortals are an incredibly rare species of supernatural beings that are truly immortal and cannot be killed by any weapon. There are only three immortals in the world and they came into being by ingesting the Immortality Elixir that was created by the witch Qetsiyah over two thousand years ago in Ancient Greece. Her betrothed, Silas, wanted to live forever without fear of ageing or dying so he asked Qetsiyah to find a way to make that happen. She created the Elixir through use of powerful magic but she was betrayed by Silas and the Elixir was instead ingested by Silas and his true love Amara along with Amara's sister Athena.
Even though they are incredibly different to vampires, immortals are often considered the template to the Original Vampires as they possess some similar qualities. While they are not as strong or as fast as vampires, they have stronger psychic abilities which can grow even stronger through drinking human blood and practicing these abilities over time.
Please note Our immortals have been downpowered from how they were in the show and cannot affect as many people with their abilities. Silas and Amara were both part of the Dread Doctors' experiments which left them permanently downpowered while Athena was cursed by a Bennett witch decades ago although they are still an incredibly powerful species.

KANIMASIt is not clear exactly how these creatures came to be but it is believed that when a human is bitten by an Alpha werewolf or other Alpha werecreature and has personal demons in their past this can cause their transformation to go wrong although it is worth noting that this is only on very rare occasions. When this happens, instead of becoming a werewolf or were-creature they instead mutate and take on a much more reptilian form, thus becoming a kanima.
Transformation A kanima's transformation is much slower and more subtle than that of a were-creature to the extent that for a while they appear to be immune to the bite and sometimes don't even believe that they are supernatural themselves until weeks after their first full moon. Kanimas are strongest during the full moon but they can also partially transform at other times during the month to make themselves stronger or tap into their abilities just like were-creatures can.
Master Were-creatures are essentially pack animals while kanimas are the complete opposite, instead of seeking a pack they seek a master to control their actions. The bond between a kanima and its master is a special one and can only be shifted to a new master when that new master killed the previous one. Kanimas will do whatever their masters ask, including taking innocent lives, and the more the master influences the kanima the stronger their bond becomes. The bond also works in a way that if the master has a certain fear such as water because the master cannot swim, this fear and inability will pass on to the kanima while transformed and the kanima can in turn pass its own weaknesses such as mountain ash on to the master.
Becoming a true werecreature If a kanima learns why they became what they are and is able to resolve the identity or personal crisis that triggered their transformation into a werecreature to become corrupted and remember who they are then the werecreature gene will correct itself. This causes them to become a true werewolf or other were-creature although the person retains some of the kanima's characteristics and abilities such as kanima venom, being able to summon a tail, a slightly higher tolerance to wolfsbane and being able to summon reptilian eyes with extra concentration.
Please note Our version of kanimas only have the beta version shown while Jackson was a kanima, not the winged alpha version that is also mentioned in the show.
Creation: A bite by an Alpha werewolf or other were-creature becoming corrupted due to personal trauma. Abilities: Super strength. speed, agility, reflexes, durability and senses; healing; shapeshifting; paralytic venom; wall clinging. Obvious Weaknesses: Mountain ash; ketamine; weaknesses or fears of the master; its own venom if used on the kanima's human form.

KITSUNEKitsune are known as "tricksters" who sometimes have no care for the concept of right or wrong although this is not true of all kitsune. It was originally thought that kitsune only originated in Japan but it has since been discovered that they can be found located around the world. When viewed through the eyes of a were-creature it is possible to see a fox spirit surrounding the kitsune that is impossible to be seen by the naked eye. Kitsune can learn to control this aura and hide it even from were-creatures as they get older. AbilitiesWhile kitsune generally start coming into their abilities during their teens, this can sometimes begin by way of an uncontrollable foxfire production and can escalate from there. Native American skinwalkers have been known to help young kitsune who have been previously unable to learn how to control their abilities and have instead had the fox spirit inside of them take control. Kitsune have the ability to become powerful warriors if they undergo the right training although they also possess a degree of natural ability in this respect. They have a number of abilities that are common to all kitsune but each type of kitsune also has its own unique abilities, for example a thunder kitsune can generate their own electricity and lightning and siphon electricity from another source without being harmed, a celestial kitsune can astral project and a void kitsune can control flies, teleport and cast illusions. All kitsune have the ability to create foxfire and this also contains a magical element that some kitsune have been known to learn to master which allows them to repair previously broken weapons. Kitsune can also control the Oni by breaking one of their tails. TailsAs kitsune grow older and stronger, they begin to gain tails. The form these tails take varies from one kitsune to another depending on the individual and have most commonly been known to take the shape of knives or throwing stars although not all kitsune choose to have physical representations of their tails. Tails can be gained by mastering different abilities such as triggering the healing ability and each kitsune can have up to nine tails in total. These tails are gained gradually over time and over a number of years. The older a tail is the stronger it is and kitsune are able to draw more power from these in a fight however once a tail has been broken or all of the power has been drained from it, it cannot be replaced. Tails contain mystical energy which can also enable a kitsune to do certain things such as control and replace the Oni. TypesThere are thirteen types of kitsune:- - Thunder (Sanda)

PHOENIXESPhoenixes are perhaps some of the creatures in the world that are most adept at blending in with humans to the point that even the most seasoned hunters believe that they are nothing more than myths. Phoenixes do however exist although they are rare and they are very powerful creatures in their own right. They have the power to burn anyone into ash with a simple touch of the hand and they also have the ability to turn into a giant, mystical bird which is how the stories about their kind came about. Naturally those stories became distorted as the years went on and now the only people who tend to know that phoenixes even exist are others of their kind, those they choose to trust with their secret and dragons with whom they have had a feud that goes back centuries. No phoenix alive today knows how the feud started but so far it still has yet to come to an end.
Despite doing their best to blend in, phoenixes are immortal and as a result they are faced with the same dilemma that most species that don't age are faced with - they have to keep moving around in order to avoid anyone realising that they aren't getting any older. Phoenixes are vulnerable to iron and silver and while they can be killed by both of those metals as well as by other means they have the ability to be resurrected. There are few things in the world that can truly kill a phoenix but dragons have developed a weapon that can be used against their enemies and make them suffer a true death just like phoenixes have learned how to kill dragons. The war between the two species has left their numbers dwindling to the point that there aren't many of either species left in the world.
When a phoenix experiences a true death they burst into flames and only their ashes will remain. These ashes contain mystical properties in themselves and have been known to be used to bind powerful spells and even kill Eve, the Mother of All. In contrast with this, phoenixes also have the ability to heal even serious wounds if the person they are trying to help is still alive. Depending on the phoenix, their tears or feathers can be used to heal others and in some instances have even been exploited and combined with magic to prolong the life of humans but not for a few centuries.

PSYCHICSPsychics are powerful humans who were born with supernatural abilities. They often seem completely normal to those around them until they reach maturity during their teenage years as this is when they start to come into their abilities. The abilities that psychics have vary from one psychic to another and when their abilities first start manifesting psychics often experience severe headaches and these can continue as they develop their abilities. The abilities psychics can be born with can include seeing into the past, present or future, moving objects with their mind, summoning or binding ghosts, and reading minds.
While they cannot be classed as witches themselves, some psychics have been known to practice witchcraft in order to enhance or hone their abilities and some have even been able to combine these practices with their own abilities so that they can expand their lifespan. Some psychics also use this in order to gain more powers and abilities however this is very difficult as well as very rare and often ends in the psychic dying because they have overexerted themselves.
Please note Psychics are born with two or at the very most three of the abilities listed below.

REAPERSOften thought of as being Angels of Death, Reapers are actually something else entirely. They are completely neutral beings who aren't aligned to Heaven or Hell or even to the Other Side and instead serve Death. Occasionally they decide to side with one faction over another but this is very rare. Reapers are responsible for assisting the souls of those humans who have passed on reach Heaven or Hell although they have also been known to very occasionally help those supernatural creatures that were stuck on the Other Side find peace. All reapers are interested in is maintaining the Natural Order of things, they couldn't care less about fate or deals or even each other and take their role very seriously.
Reapers cannot force a human soul to go with them to Heaven or Hell, they can only use their powers of persuasion to try and convince them. If the soul decides to leave with them they act as guides to the afterlife however if the soul refuses they are forced to stay on Earth until they change their minds. Reapers are responsible for making sure that human souls reach their rightful resting place while hellhounds are mainly responsible for doing the same to supernatural creatures when they are ready to move on.
Over time some Reapers have been known to go rogue and ferry the souls of those in their afterlives and take them to a different one for the purpose of profit.

SHAPESHIFTERSLike some other supernatural creatures, shapeshifters start out human and it appears that there isn't anything unusual about them. Most shapeshifters, in fact, don't learn the truth about themselves until they reach maturity at the age of between sixteen and eighteen years old unless they are brought up by parents who decide to tell them the truth. When shapeshifters reach the age at which they are ready to start embracing their ability it often starts out as an itch they just can't seem to shake. They begin to feel different, almost uncomfortable in their own skin, before finally their appearance changes so they look like someone else entirely.
In the beginning it isn't easy for shapeshifters to change into someone else at will and this often happens when they least expect it. With age comes experience, however, and eventually they are able to learn to control it either through being taught by another shapeshifter who has gone through the same thing or through finally feeling comfortable in their own skin.
When a shapeshifter changes into another person it isn't just their appearance that changes, their voice also changes to that of the person they are mimicking and their thoughts often become those that the person they have become would have although they don't inherit their target's memories which can sometimes lead to them being caught out. Shapeshifters can also take the form of fictional characters or they can mimic inhuman characteristics such as vampire fangs or werewolf claws but they are unable to take the form of animals. Shifting into another person causes the shapeshifter a degree of pain but the more they use this ability the more manageable it becomes.
When shapeshifters aren't taking on the form of another person they revert back to their natural appearance although some shapeshifters choose to have a different default form especially if they are trying to escape someone from their past.
Please note Our shapeshifters do not shed their skin, teeth and nails like those in the earlier seasons of Supernatural do.

SIRENSWhen sirens are born the look completely human and it often isn't until they reach maturity that they even realise that there is anything different about them if they aren't brought up among others of their kind. Once their abilities have been activated, sirens are able to take on the form of the person their target most desires and by doing so can lure and compel their targets to perform drastic acts in order to prove their love and devotion or even to generally make their targets do things that they wouldn't normally do. Sirens' powers have been known to work on humans and the supernatural alike however their powers work on some species more than others and often don't affect people who are older than the siren. By focusing on the person they love most, some people have been known to resist a siren's abilities to a certain degree.
Sirens are able to produce a venom that is able to infect their target and cause them to experience an intense amount of love and euphoria for the siren and this love will make them do whatever the siren tells them to go. Instead of feeding on humans like other creatures do, sirens instead feel an intense rush of pleasure when watching their targets do as they are instructed but this doesn't last very long.
In order to keep their abilities as strong as they should be, sirens need to feed on human flesh regularly. If they fail to do so their powers will weaken and eventually after a prolonged period of not feeding a siren will desiccate.

SKINWALKERSSkinwalkers are often thought to be the cousins of werewolves and other were-creatures as they too can turn into animals but their shifts are not controlled by the phases of the moon. Skinwalkers can be born or bitten and like other species that are capable of turning into something else they can be split into Alphas, Betas and Omegas. If a skinwalker has taken a life their eyes turn blue, if they haven't taken a life they turn gold and if they are an Alpha they turn red when the person is half shifted and sometimes when they have shifted fully into an animal.
Unlike werecreatures they are capable of turning into any animal at will rather than having to stick to one form although many skinwalkers have a favourite animal that they often turn into. Skinwalkers have to be either bitten by an Alpha or they can be born if one of their parents is a skinwalker. They are known for having a pack mentality and will do protect their pack to the best of their ability.
Shifting for the first time is often unpredictable and something brought about from heightened emotions or a stressful situation if the skinwalker isn't taught how to shift by another of their kind. The pain that comes from shifting and even half shifting is excruciating at first but is something that skinwalkers are able to get used to as they shift more often.
Silver weapons have been known to kill these creatures and some skinwalkers from various Native American tribes spread across the country choose to wear the skin of their favourite animal as they believe that this ties them even more closely to the animal they turn into although this belief is unsubstantiated.
Please note Unlike in Supernatural, only a very small amount of skinwalkers feed on human hearts belonging to people they have killed, not all do this.
